My boyfriend and I dined here last week for my birthday. It was the best dinner experience we have ever received. Our server Michael provided us with the most exceptional service, ask for him on your next visit! We started with the sashimi salad, chilled fresh crab claws, and lobster bisque. They were all 5 stars! Now for dinner… I did the surf and turf and he did the bone in filet. Both perfectly cooked, medium rare. It’s only been 6 days since we went and we are already talking about returning. We just wish we didn’t live two hours away.

I wish I could give trulucks 17 stars. My boyfriend and I came back here for a celebratory dinner tonight, and I am leaving even more impressed than before. We had the same server, Ken, who was great. So friendly and genuine, with amazing descriptions and knowledge of the food offered here. This time I ordered a medium crab claw, which comes pre-cracked and is so fresh. I had the mesclun green salad which was on point– such a great balance of flavors. I had the scallops again, which was a fantastic choice again. They were melt in your mouth delicious and served with amazing Parmesan mashed potatoes. Don’t even get me started on the steak. My boyfriend had the usda prime ribeye and it was by far the most delicious, mouth-watering, well-seasoned, explosion of flavor I’ve ever had in my life. I had to savor every second I was eating bites of his steak because it was seriously delicious in every way. He ordered it in the«dynamite» style, which has a sriracha sauce and lobster and crab on top. I can’t rave enough about this steak, so just go try it yourself. As if the meal wasn’t good enough, it was topped off with a celebratory baked Alaska, compliments of the restaurant! It was a decadent concoction of coffee ice cream, chocolate cookie cake, and almond meringue, all lit on fire! I finished this meal being stuffed in the best way possible. This place is truly delicious and high class. I HIGHLY recommend it!!!

Excellent for happy hour! Their smoked fish taco appetizer was ahhhhhmazing! I had their mojito… excellent! One friend had the Moscow mule & the other had the Kir Royale… All our drinks were tasty & not watered down! Very dressy… be forewarned. But our server, Rachel, was very nice & accommodating. Will come here again for after work happy hours!

Trulucks FAREXCEEDED any of my expectations– and I’m a seafood/steakhouse snob! From the first phone call I made to book a table for 9 a month in advance to the actual day of service, everything was absolutely straight forward and organized! This was a special dinner for our destination bachelorette party and these guys made it so memorable! Our waiter, Stuart, was incredible. Amazingly knowledgeable with wine parings. He was funny, nice and accommodating! For a high end restaurant, the team here was super friendly and pleasant! Thank you for making our bride feel so important and special. The dessert at the end of the night was over the top! Thank you for your excellent service and generosity! i will personally be going to any Truluck’s I come across because of this one experience! THANKYOU!

Went here on a Saturday night for my wife’s birthday. Originally tried to book a reservation weeks in advance, but considering it was Valentine’s Day weekend, the restaurant was«completely booked.» No worries! My wife and I got there minutes before the bar area opened, so when they eventually opened it’s doors, we were able to easily find a comfortable bar table. Their Happy Hour menu is a GREAT alternative for those dining on a budget. We were originally going to do the Date Night Menu, but after doing the math, we quickly realized we’d get more bang for our buck for roughly the same price. And boy did we! We started off with two drinks: the Red Door and the Lychee martini. ABSOLUTELYAMAZING. The bartender that night did an excellent job making those drinks — neither were too strong nor to sweet, and both had a great finish! Crab cakes — by far the BEST we’ve ever tasted. Our server, Toni(who is welcoming, genuinely sweet and very knowledgeable!) told us these cakes are«roughly 98%» crabmeat, and whether she exaggerated or not, it really did feel like they were! Barely any filler or breadcrumbs; just lumps upon lumps of fresh, savory crab meat. A MUST. It’s been a while since we’ve gone back, and some of their Happy Hour items we enjoyed are no longer on the menu, but all in all, you can’t go wrong with Trulucks! Will come back, and would definitely recommend.

We had a great experience here. We came to celebrate our anniversary. As soon as we entered we were kindly greeted and seated very quickly. We sat at a big half moon booth and our server, Ken, was so attentive. He gave us great suggestions on drinks and showed us what their specialties were. We ordered a salad, salt and pepper calamari(these were pretty good). My husband tried the crab claw and the new York steak, which he enjoyed. I had the sea bass with miso seasoning on top of a bed of crab fried rice. That was also very good. Ken, brought out an Alaskan cave, which he lit on fire, right in front of us. It had coffee ice cream and cookies inside. Along with a nice card, wishing us a happy anniversary. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience and can’t wait to make another trip out with our family.

Elegant, impeccable service and delicious! Wanted to check out a new spot in the area and this definitely hit the spot. The décor was gorgeous. Huge vases filled with water and orchids inside set the elegant scene. The low lighting was fantastic as the piano player swooned the restaurant. The service by Zachary was above and beyond. We had a perfect caesar salad with just the right flavor and texture with anchovies like it should. We had the classic filet which was so flavorful topped with crab meat, shrimp bernaise sauce. The side of parmesan mashed potatoes paired perfectly. Next time we want to try the seafood which is what they are known for besides the steak. A great experience all around.

I took my husband here for his birthday last night, and I am so glad that I did. First off, the place looked fantastic, the décor, and the ambiance was perfect. There was live music, and the entertainment for the evening sang beautifully. Our server Derek did an excellent job and explained the menu and the different crab options elegantly, and he provided for us just the right amount of attentive service. My husband ordered the escargot and calamari to start off with, and his main course was the Miso Glazed Bass, and everything was delicious. I order the Chef’s Fillet(7 oz. cut meat, with crab mean and shrimp with parmesan mash), it was heavenly. Our daughters were with us also, and they both ordered the regular 7 oz fillet. It was just the perfect sized meals for them. I had the best glass of red wine(Barnett, Spring Mountain, Napa, 2013), and my husband loved his drink order. I think he had a jalapeño infused martini drink(he had two). :) It was the perfect evening for the family celebrating my husband’s birthday, and to finish, Derek brought out a frozen Alaskan dessert and the presentation was fantastic. He had alcohol or liqueur in a container and flambéd it and poured it over the desert. It was beautiful, and the entire frozen Alaskan was on fire and after a few seconds, the light went out, and we were able to cut into the desert. We shared it between the four of us and it was delicious! As for me, this is on my top list of steak houses in the US. The seafood was great too! I will be coming back again and can’t wait to do so!

Our waiter, Sammy was spot on from getting us drinks to changing out our silverware. He brought Bry a strawberry mint julep which she loved. Simply outstanding service. When we first got there we were not immediately assisted because no one was at the front desk. But I wasn’t going to let that tarnish an immaculate experience the rest of the way. Sammy brought us Beef Tartare to start off with. First time having this because Bry loves this dish and Sammy agreed, it’s beautiful. To my surprise, it was delicious. I could taste a little bit of horseradish mixed in with the capers and parmesan shavings. Topped with a raw egg and served with crackers… needless to say, Sammy had to bring out more crackers. Bry had the lobster and I had the filet mignon and it was capped off with oysters. Our entrees were excellent needless to say. For dessert, Sammy brought out what was called a White Alaskan, which was like an ice cream cake covered in marshmallow served with liquid fire to toast up the sides… fancy right? Thanks for the great meal Trulucks

Awesome place for Cocktail Hour 4:30 — 6:30pm daily! I came here yesterday with a group of 9 people for their happy hour. We were seated outside on their patio around a fire pit. It was warm outside when we arrived but the fire was nice for later in the evening when it got a bit chilly. What to Order: The Red Door $ 7– vodka, Elderflower liqueur and raspberries! If you like sweet cocktails this is the drink for you! Warm Goat Cheese with roasted mushrooms $ 10– It comes with warm bread, this was one of my favorite things that they served! It’s so yummy! Escargot $ 10– Loved it! I haven’t seen escargot around at restaurants in a while. It’s nice to know you can get it for cheap here! Tuna Tartare Tower $ 12– Not bad, it has a bit of a kick to it. I think it was a hint of wasabi? Salt and Pepper Calamari $ 9-Yummy! Get this! Oysters $ 2.5/each– Not bad, but you can find a selection of different oysters cheaper at Oceanaire downtown for only $ 2/piece during Happy Hour. This place only has one type that they serve each day. I love the ambiance of the place. They have a pianist playing inside, he was very talented and I thought we were listening to a recording the whole time. I definitely want to come back for dinner here. It’s super romantic and intimate inside. It’s extremely dark inside so your date will be 10x better looking! SCORE! They also have mouthwash in the bathroom! Shoutout to Elite Nette B. for letting me know, I made sure to make a trip to the ladies’ room just to check it out!

If you order Louie 13 cognac, they will make you a burger. Prettt damn delicious burger, I must say. Cooked to perfection. Seafood tower and lobsters were my friends favorites. Biggest lobster tail i have ever seen in a restaurant. Oh, and dont wear baseball caps/hats or any kinds of fitted/snapbacks. I had to eat dinner with hat hair the entire dinner.

I came here with a reservation for two and was astonished with the beautiful restaurant interior and exterior. The place is located in the corner of the plaza across from the beautiful Hyatt Hotel in La Jolla. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the sweetest hostess who showed us to our table in a romantic booth facing a live piano player(as if it couldn’t get more amazing.). Our waiter was the sweetest guy ever! He was so courteous with explaining the menu items and offered recommendations. He also checked up on us constantly and was quick to fit our needs during our meal. FOOD: The Miso-Glazed Sea bass is melt-in-your-mouth DELICIOUSNESS! It is perfectly sweet and slightly crispy on the side to give you that crispy texture that compliments the soft texture of the sea bass which sits in the most delicious asian-flavored sauce. It also had crab fried rice and a veggie slaw under the sea bass fillet. The crab fried rice tasted amazing, super flavorful and you could really taste the sweetness of the crab throughout the rice. The veggie slaw was also very complimenting to the sweetness of the sea bass miso sauce and crab rice flavoring. We also got the Hawaiian Ahi Tuna thats seared rare and crusted with sesame. Texture was on point for this! Overall: amazing experience with service and the sea bass was delicious!

We come here yearly when we visit San Diego and the food and service has always been impeccable. We had made dinner reservation for a party of 4 at 7:00 p.m. When we arrived we were greeted and seated right away. Our server Vladimir was excellent. We ordered cocktails and skipped the appetizers«a la cart» and ordered our entrees. We Ordered the Stone Crabs«all you can eat» which came with you choice of appetizer and side. I ordered Caesar Salad with Fresh White Anchovies, shaved Pecorino and fresh Lemon and my side was asparagus. The Stone Crabs were heavenly, I had 2 plate full. Vladimir was very attentive in providing fresh hand towels and emptying our shell bowls. The Claws were served with a wonderful Mustard Sauce. A Seafood Platter for 2 was also ordered, that consisted of shrimp, crab, oysters and stone crab. For the non seafood lovers a 16 oz New York Strip Steak. The seafood was fantastic and the steak was perfectly done to request and sides were delicious. Fantastic service, food and drinks made for a memorably time.

Lucky me! I was treated to a nice dinner at Truluck’s for my birthday. Woot Woot! Between my significant other and I, we ordered the following: — Raw Oysters(Hood Canal) — from Washington State. I personally love oysters from Washington State as they are usually clean and crisp. Delicious! — Escargot — with herbed butter and roasted walnuts. My first time having escargot. Yummy! My significant other had escargot before and said that it was«awesome». He would personally prefer a little less butter, but hey, it still tastes great! — Lobster Bisque — with lobster bits and horseradish goat cheese. Delicious but both of us would have preferred it to be slightly less salty. Otherwise, the flavors were all there. — USDA Prime Ribeye(with Asparagus) — Medium Rare, YEAH! I personally like ribeye because it has some fat in the cut of meat. I don’t put any additional sauce or butter, so the fat in the cut of meat is just enough for«flavor». — Fresh Florida Stone Crab Claw Platter — AMAZING. This is a must-get item when at Trulucks! — Roasted Mushrooms — I love mushrooms but having it «roasted» made my day. — Garlic Sauteed Spinach — Significant other ordered this and liked the garlic flavor. Our waiter /sommelier, Chick, recommended the following red wine to pair with my ribeye: — Hess, 19 Block Cuvee, Mount Veeder, 2011 For dessert, we had the«Baked Alaska». According to our waiter /sommelier, this dessert was recently brought back into the menu. Described as «layers of chocolate cake, Oreo crumbs, vanilla ice cream and coffee ice cream incased in meringue». It was a great way to end my birthday dinner. I also really like how Truluck’s is responsible. They use only sustainable seafood and ingredients. Woot Woot!

Hit up Truluck;s for Happy Hour to celebrate my bae’s new job. There is a reasonably priced($ 8) valet option outside. We got a seat in the bar right in front of the piano where Archie was playing the piano and the sax, and I heard he is there SUN-WED. I’ve heard the weekend(FIR-SAT) live music duo is worth a visit. The music was such a nice touch! The happy hour menu had a lot of good wine, beer and cocktail options. We ended up ordering a few apps and dessert. Both drinks(Moscow Mule and the Hess19 Block Cab) were really good. We also loved our smoked fish tacos but the(raw) beef tartare was a bit much for us and we couldn’t eat any of it. I liked the tuna tartare but would probably go with another option next time as it was a little bland. The dessert winner was by far the highlight of our night. We got the Baked Alaska(some version of oreo, ice cream, cake and a wonderful outside fluff). We also got the trio, and would pass next time though I love it when restaurants serve taster sizes like that. The ambiance in the bar was very different than the ambiance in the steakhouse, and I really enjoyed the bar’s relaxed vibe. Zack helped us while we were there and he was very attentive. I expected more«steakhouse» items on the HH menu — such as small steak plates. And would have appreciate more options overall, but left having a good experience.

Sofie and I had a valentine’s day meal there. We ate the«Whole Fish of the Day»(sea bass). It was seasoned and cooked perfectly — and was very fresh. The service(Sam) was attentive, friendly and non-obtrusive. He made us feel comfortable and we enjoyed our dinner. The martinis were tasty and generous. We enjoyed Truluck’s. Because my reservation was not many months in advance, we sat in an «overflow» room — which is generally a conference room. The room was quite comfortable, but if I had it to do over again, I’d choose the outside seating.

An extraordinary date night at Truluck’s! We were greeted by friendly faces & a fantastic live band, which play every night! Julian was our server & he was a joy! Very attentive, friendly, & made sure we always had everything that we needed(our water never went lower than ¾ of the cup). He brought out a showcase of their seafood & sold us on: Fresh Florida Stone Crab Claws, served with a speciality mustard sauce — Absolutely incredible! This was my first time trying these beauties & my boyfriend & I were hooked! Lightly sweet in comparison to other crabs I have tasted. The mustard sauce was a great addition. Stuffed Lobster Tail, served with Parmesan mashed potatoes & lemon-garlic butter — Jumbo lump Blue Crab cake paired wonderfully with the lobster. Juicy. Dutch Harbor Red Alaskan King Crab, served with Parmesan mashed potatoes, steamed asparagus, & lemon-garlic butter — Julian compared this crab to what you would see on the Deadliest Catch & wow, he was right! Succulent, juicy pieces of meat just melted in my mouth… Yum! Birthday Cake — Truluck’s has, hands down, the best birthday cake in the world! Julian surprised me with a dessert & lit it on fire! Super neat! He then cut it in half to expose the ice cream cake with a delicious amaretto-like cream surrounding it. So, so good!

Went here for my mom’s 70th birthday celebration and it was so different to have a full on celebration dinner rather than just stopping by for happy hour. I can say we were all VERY pleased by the service, ambiance and food. You just can’t go wrong getting surf or turf here. They are known for their stone crab, which normally you can only really get in Florida. Yes, splurge, it’s worth it… but this is from a huge crab claw fan. I’ve loved crab claws since I was a little girl. TIP: At the end we were all so stuffed, but we had to get the special dessert for my mom. It was called the: «Chocolate Bag» You have to try it! It’s a unique experience and if you like chocolate and FRESH berries and tasty cake, you will like this! So 5 stars for special occasion greatness! :)

We have mixed feelings with Truluck’s. The very first time we went here was probably couple years ago for Sunday all day happy hour. From what I remember, food was delicious and happy hour prices made it possible for us to enjoy what they have to offer without going bankrupt. I remember that they offered cupcakes(chocolate and carrot cake) and it was divine! On a much more recent visit, we decided to try their all you can eat stone crab claws. We arrived a little early, we sat at the bar and got couple of drinks. We checked in with the host and informed her that we have a reservation. Normally, they will come and get you to let you know when the table is ready however hostess was busy chit chatting with a coworker. I expect for stellar customer service every time we go to places like these. For $ 79.99/person you get a choice of soup or salad(we got the lobster bisque), a side(we opted for crab mac n cheese & brussels sprouts but returned it for crab fried rice instead) and your first plate of 12 stone crab claws. Every plate thereafter will have 4 claws. I enjoyed my first plate and while DH ate about 32 claws, I was struggling with my 2nd plate. Our server was sweet as he brought out a chocolate cake to share since we were celebrating our anniversary and early birthday for DH. We also learned that they changed the happy hour. It is now available everyday from 4 – 6, instead of the all day during weekends. They also do not offer those delicious cupcakes in the menu as well. If there’s one dessert you must try — CARROTCAKE is the one! All in all, the visit wasn’t as bad. Our server was on point, hostess was not. We left couple hours later and she was still busy chit chatting. Tsk, tsk!
