Been in here a few times in the past and never really cared for it. Back then I probably would have given it 2 stars since the service sucked and the food was nothing special. However I feel like they are working on making things better. Came in last night around 5:30−6 or so and sat on the patio. I wish the heaters worked better, but we knew it was cold outside and that’s what we chose to do. Appetizers seemed to stagger out and oour entrees hit the table not long after. I wish the timing was better but it was not a big deal, we were hungry and happy to get food after hiking earlier in the day. The server was attentive but not too pushy and was very helpful in regards to answering questions about the menu, which was a nice alternative to experiences in the past of not being left alone and feeling rushed or not being tended to. Our drinks were refilled before they were even ¾ empty! Awesome, A+! The manager came around to check on us during the meal and he was friendly as well as funny. My wife thought that was neat since most restaurants you don’t see the manager unless there is an issue. The busser cleared some empty plates out of our way while we were eating to make room on the table which was awesome. The food is not 5 stars, but it is very satisfying and filling. Not cheap but not expensive either. The brie appetizer is great and the sauce the is served with it is just amazing. They were serving shrimp tacos for like a $ 1 or something in the bar which I plan on coming back for next week because they looked amazing. People had plates full so they must be good! We were thanked for coming in on the way out the door which added a sense of appreciation of their customers. Thanks for giving us a good experience last night world famous!

I have been coming to this lovely place for years and years now. It’s always one I bring people from out of town who want to sit by the water and eat. Everyone usually loves it! Everyone but my step dad, and until tonight I didn’t understand why he hated it so much.(They come in from Colorado a lot and my siblings are obsessed.) Little things have happened before that he griped about, but nothing huge. Tonight we sat at 5:30 and were put at a table in the dining room. Since there was an open table next to the boardwalk my mom asked nicely if they could move to that table. The table was freezing(it is cold out) and they were told the heat lamp next to it was not working, but that another table was opening up. That heater was so hot at that table that after awhile my brother sitting next to it was pretty much sweating. He asked the manager, who happened to be walking by, to please turn it down. The dude(who walks like he has a baseball bat up his ass, and his shit doesn’t stink) threw an attitude and looked at my brother like he had just asked to eat his first born… then all filled with rage turned the knob down. One click. Apparently that’s hard. The food is always yummy(step dad disagrees, because he hates you all for getting his food wrong every time. He compared his quesadilla to Taco Bell to prove his dissatisfaction for being forced to come to dinner). I have the same 4⁄5 appetizers that I get every time that are always scrumptious. However, they seem to be coming out in strange orders every time. It’s looked like all the tables around us have had the same issues. Tonight we got a few things quickly. Then after 2 of us were sufficiently full, we waiting for a good 20 minutes for the rest of our tables food or appetizers to come out(mostly step dads food). We had no silverware when we sat down, and had to ask for that as well. Those were brought, but without napkins. The chicken taco we ordered may still be there… waiting for us in the kitchen since, of course, it was my step dad who ordered it. He will never return. Ever. Why do you hate him? We were also told(not by our server) that we couldn’t bring left overs home, even though they were full appetizers that had come out after mostly everything else had been consumed. That was weird. We got a box… after asking three people. Again, the food is still pretty close to as delicious as it’s been in years past. The service and timeliness of the food could be worked on. Now back to the manager. He is the worst. He ignored our table the rest of the night. Even walking past every single other table to check on them. Not ours, but we weren’t too sad. I will be coming back, because I would take a bath in your lobster bisque. However, I have ruled out ever sitting anywhere besides belly up at the bar. Your bartenders are fun, and shit gets done fast and smoothly in there. That manager is not fun. His shit stinks. Someone should tell him. The end.

This place is FANTASTIC. From the delicious quality of the food, to the amazing prices, to the great service and the beautiful view of the ocean. I find it very hard to believe they only have a 3 ½ star rating.

Ok, I can give them a mixed review depending on the day I go in. I have to say if I reviewed them on their bread alone, they get these 5 stars! Also, on Wednesdays for HH they have some pretty good lobster tacos for $ 2.25(could have more in them) and although they don’t have drink special prices, they do make a good cocktail and are willing to make it how you like it, which is always a plus for picky me. They also get 5 stars for their lobster bisque! This establishment can get crazy busy especially when it is nice out or on a weekend. Last night we were shocked it wasn’t. The hostess said they have been slow, I am sure due to the weather. The bar was pretty full for HH though. So for now, they’ll get my 5 stars. On my next trip in, we’ll have to see!

On my first trip to San Diego, my friends took me around to see the sights. After snagging a good parking spot in Pacific beach, we decided to go to World Famous. I mean, if the title didn’t already tell you it was going to be good, I don’t know what would’ve. It’s a bit of a wait but totally worth it. We asked the hostess to seat us in the outside patio and she was gracious enough to give us prime seating overlooking the boardwalk. Katie was server and she was cool. She was fast and efficient, not super personable but understandable; it was busy! I was also with great company so no worries! They have a great Mimosa special: a bottle of champagne for $ 10, the juice for $ 3. Great deal on a hot day! For lunch, I got the Maine Lobster Benedict for $ 15. Butter poached Maine lobster tail with boiled eggs, asparagus spears, chopped parsley and lemon hollandaise over grilled focaccia served with a side of potatoes. It was good. The Benedict was dusted with Cayenne so it gave it a little kick. Hollandaise was good and there was ample amount of lobster meat. I’d say that’s a win. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience of sitting on the boardwalk and having great drinks and food for brunch. Whenever I’m back, I’ll be sure to drop by again and try other great treats!

It may not look World Famous on the outside but their food definitely is! Great patio seating gives you a view of the ocean; their food is fresh and always great. I had the Beach Side Cod Sandwich which was not overly breaded, the fish was flaky and had good flavor. Their bread is hearty and good for this — the coleslaw stole the show though: mango, cranberries and candied almond slices on top of it was unreal. It is a gem in PB and definitely one to check out.

The view here is beauuutiful! Went here with my bf to celebrate my bday. The drinks were delicious and they have great options. I had some ahi poke and a fish taco. Both were great and it was the perfect amount of food. Service was really awesome too. Would def come here again.

We initially sat down in the bar area, and were not attended to in 10 minutes until Lane, who was not even our server, came to our table to clear off the previous parties plates, and went in search of our server. About eight minutes later, and with a swinging attitude, our server came to the table. At this point, we saw the ocean sunset quickly fading, so we politely asked our server, Brittney for two drinks and four fish Tacos, and we would be right back after taking a quick picture of the sunset. Brittney responded she would not save the table unless we left an item there. Which, offended and reluctant we did. We left my uncles jacket, even though it was freezing 52 outside so we could keep our table. Upon our return, she did an excellent job of bringing our drinks and food. As a consistent Unilocal and foodie, I politely asked the hostess if I could speak with the manager, Eric. Promptly he came to our table and I voiced my concerns. After a few minutes of talking to our waitress, she returned with a smile and no longer portrayed an attitude to our table of two. I will come back, but to be honest I will never sit at the bar area again unless Lane or another waitress serves us. In my opinion as a previous 7 year food experience worker in the industry, no matter how awful your day is, don’t ever give your customers an attitude. This restaurant is in such a beautiful location with an ocean view, how can you not smile at your customers?

Located next to the Pacific Beach Boardwalk, parking was somewhat difficult to find. There is a public underground parking lot behind the Promenade that requires parking validation. They also have valet service for $ 6.00. I was able to find street parking a couple of blocks away. I attended a celebration of two of my friends milestone Birthdays here for brunch. We were a big party, approximately 37 people(including children). The servers were very accommodating for such a big group. We took up most of their patio area. I enjoyed the view from the patio of the backdrop of the beach and palm trees, also watched the traffic of people walk, ride bikes, skate and skateboard on the boardwalk. The ambiance is casual. They have flat screen TVs playing football games. There is also a bar. We ordered a bottle of champagne and passion fruit juice for mimosas. I ordered their Carne Asada Benedict with Fruit. The serving was just right. The Carne Asada was well seasoned and the eggs were over medium, yet a little runny. The service was a little long, but considering how big our group was, it was worth the wait. It gave us a chance to catch up with our friends and enjoy each others company. I would like to check this place out to watch the sunset and enjoy other food items on their dinner menu. I’m sure the view will be awesome. Next visit might be on a smaller scale of two or possibly four people. Good place for brunch!

Came here with my boyfriend and friends for breakfast. The view of the ocean is just amazing. Unforgettable. I could just sit there and stare at the ocean. Happy to have had shared the experience of a good breakfast and a great scenery. They serve alcohol as well, I just had a sip of my boyfriends Michilada, it was good. I just couldn’t take anymore alcohol. I had the seafood omelette. It had a good taste. I enjoyed it… probably enjoyed it a little more of I hadn’t felt so sick from last night’s fun.

Yes, a divey, wonderful happy hour with a view of the beach. There’s always a line up here, because that’s how good it is. I think your best be here is to come in and order things to share around a table, there are a variety of delightful items, and you’ll want to try them all out. Come for the tacos and stay for more. If you’re just in San Diego for a little while, I’d recommend checking this place out as a tourist. But don’t come in a hurry and try to get a seat by the beach side.

Ocean views on Pacific Beach, everyone here very gracious despite huge crowds… superb service and very patient waitresses and hostess. Best drink of my life… A drunken mermaid laced with serrano chiles and cucumbers… soaking in a vat of pear vodka and elderberry liqueur. Sounds unusual but incredibly tasty ! Waiting for 2 dollar lobster tacos!

This is the taco stuffing lobster serving locations of pacific beach san diego califonia US of A happy hour fun times $ 2 red light special on isle 7 fun houses. We decided to start our night here for the infamous wed happy hour lobster taco night fun party times. We heard the stories and simply had to go get our tacos stuffed to the brim with this white and pink juicy meat slathered in special sauces! In order to get the special you have to order drinks, No PROBLEM! Before I blow the loads fun times story we had here, I must warn you to be prepared to wait a bit to get your tacos jammed with meat. But don’t worry waiting for things always makes the ecstasy of satisfaction more enjoyable and not to mention a bit of the foreplay makes the explosions and orgasmic experiences that much more earth shattering and intense. So a bit of a wait before you stuff your gaping holes full of these juicy tender soft moist pieces of meat in your taco is definitely a plus if you just let the tease not affect your desire for complete and utter bliss. To our delight, we did not have to wait long as the hostess had us come almost immediately! Back to the details of the extravaganza, we ordered drinks to allow us to order as many meats as we desired to be shoved into our tacos… it’s a great pairing but the drinks are not strong at all, don’t even bother trying to get totally blitzed off of these pathetic fruit filled drinks. We decided to go for the strongest beers they had on tap to start to get our minds into the correct state of primed inebriation… once the soft moist meat filled taco dripped in man made sauces arrived we could not get the taco into our mouths fast enough!!! They were so soft, wet, fresh, buttery, and dripping with gooey fleshy colored sauces, It was amazing tonguing the meat in between the taco flicking the meat right into our throats… sooo delicious! Once we had our way with one taco, we were simply dripping and begging for more… we just kept getting our mouths all over more and more tacos and meat! There is no limit to how many tacos you order, so if you really want to have a wild party and go all out with a debauchery of taco filled meat, have at it! They love it here! Search no longer for a place to get your taco completely stuffed with pink choice meat that is moist, soft, dripped in delicious gooey man made sauces, all wrapped up in a buttery silk baby soft white skinned delights from heaven, all begging to be fingered, and devoured by your gaping watering mouth hole, this is the place!

For non-authentic Mexican tacos, the taco Tuesday shrimp specials are bomb! This is one of the go-to spots for college student on Taco Tuesday night and you can expect a long line… unless you don’t mind bar sitting, which is first come first serve. I used to always wait 30 min in line to get a table, but never went back to waiting in line after finding about bar sitting because ain’t nobody got time for that! FOOD l 4: — shrimp tacos 1.75 l 4: I’m not sure if I love the tacos more or the BOMB jar of red sauce! I literally used a good third of a bottle every time I order the tacos. But really, the battered shrimp isn’t bad at all. Although I’m disappointed the size of the tacos shrank since I first came here. 3 is usually the prefect amount for me. If you’re looking for some authentic tacos, you won’t like it, but if you’re looking to get your taco fix, you may like it — mimosa 4.50 l 4: since you have to order a drink, might as well spend $ 2 more for a mimosa ;) I love all the mimosas here. They’re sweet and don’t taste of alcohol. But I can never finish even the small glass because your homegirl gotta get home PRO — cheap, good sized tacos CON — Americanized tacos TIP — get bar seating. If you have a friend who isn’t 21, sit at the tables near the actual bar

Date of visit: 7÷10÷2015 Cam’s family comes here once a year. Last year, we didn’t make a reservation for dinner time and it was a little hectic. However, this year, I had the foresight to call ahead and they were very nice about getting us a table, even though Open Table wasn’t allowing reservations. Although we couldn’t get the 6pm or 7pm time slot, they were able to squeeze us in at 5pm. Upon our arrival the restaurant was empty, but you could definitely tell that there were tables reserved. Once we left around 7pm, the place was packed. If you’re going with a large group, make a reservation, especially during the summer. Our server was on par and made sure that our hectic table had enough bread and water, and was patient despite our shortcomings. Crispy Coconut Shrimp. The shrimp was good, but not mind blowing good. For $ 9.50, I was expecting more, but the dish only came with 3 pieces of shrimp. That’s over $ 3 per shrimp and I didn’t think it was that special. I was a little disappointed here. Caesar Salad. Cam and I decided to upgrade our salad since we were sharing everything. The salad was overdressed, but under-seasoned. I didn’t think this was possible, but the dressing didn’t taste that good to me — it was more watery than anything. I really liked the croutons, but found the tomatoes to be a weird addition. Pollo Diavola. This dish was also just okay. The cheese seemed a bit hard and the chicken was dry. The sauce was very good though(spicy and creamy), which complemented the spinach fettuccine. There was a cut of pork(pancetta?), which was also difficult to eat and didn’t add much to the dish. Overall, World Famous is a seafood place, so if you don’t like seafood(me), then don’t expect amazing food. They are also lacking a bit in the vegetarian department as the only things Cam’s sister could eat were the bread and a salad(she’s not a fan of brie). However, everyone who got the lobster bisque was really happy. I definitely recommend you at least try that(it smelled delicious).

Tourist alert! Tourist alert! Raggedy as we looked coming from the airport, my friends and I were in search of delicious San Diego food and stopped by World Famous. We seriously looked straight up like tourists with our luggages and backpacks. They were super accommodating and let us store it in the corner where no one was sitting — much better than having it outside. Two dishes you MUST try: –Crab Cake Sliders: Three little crab cakes inside homemade buns that were to die for! Perfectly fried with the right amount of tarter sauce and slices of red onion. I’m drooling at the thought of them. –Fish Tacos: Battered fish fried to perfection on a corn tortilla topped with cabbage, cheese, and sauce. Their fish tacos are literally the best I’ve ever had. Oh my goodness, their fries were probably the best thing I had in San Diego. I don’t know what they do with them, but they are damn good. Be sure to order a side of fries if you get a pasta plate or something, because they are worthhhhhh it. On top of delicious food, the view was amazing as well! Right on PB where you can watch bikers and long boarders ride by. Definitely a restaurant I would dine in again the next time I visit San Diego.

World Famous — what a name. You wonder if you are entering a Crossfit gym or an athletic clothing store. But, no, World Famous is a catch all restaurant located within a short sprint to the foot of the Pacific Ocean. Here, you can get clam chowder, lobster bisque, tacos stuffed with fish or shrimp or lobster, crab cakes, quesadillas, seared ahi, cioppino, capellini, sea bass, ahi poke, lump crab mushrooms, BBQ ribs, several different types of eggs Benedict, prime rib hash, huevos rancheros, french toast — tons of options. FYI — if you are eating in the bar, you do not have access to the full menu. Also, if you order a drink from the bar, you are able to move to the dinning room and/or patio when a table opens. I ordered lobster bisque, which was too thick and tasted nothing like lobster. It was decent though. I also had the fish tacos, which looked messy on the plate, but were tasty. The beans were dried out and the rice did not have the best flavor. But the tacos? Delicious. World Famous has decent specials most every day from 4 to 11 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays sound like go-to days with Monday offering half off appetizers and $ 1.75 tacos on Tuesdays. I like the enclosed patio. On most beaches, I would be annoyed that the patio was enclosed. But given the madness on Pacific Beach, it was a good call to close it up. The bar is dark and reminds me of a cruise ship bar. It feels dank and crowded, but the service is great! Cool spot for families. Also a great spot to grab breakfast or a drink. I would return.
