Gymboree Play & Music

My son and I was in the area for a mommy and me class but we missed it so I decided to take my son to this location since the one I go to is far from here.
I didn’t know you can only go to one gymboree location but the staffs here took us as guests for today.
It was a little different from the one we go to (in a good way)
More group activities and more singing which my son looooooves.
Staffs were super friendly and attentive.
I wish I can go to this location all the time!
Oh well we live in buena park… just too far…

I really don’t want to give one star, but I have to write this because, I been going this gymboree for 6 month with 6 grade, and my daughter is almost 3. I don’t how much better it use to be, but the teacher with 6 grade that play all the activity is such nice. Ok let’s talk about what happened today. My daughter are gently all the time, know share things. And there is mom with her son almost 2 and half years old. Her son very active and rough all the time, (very rough type). As a parents, you should always watch out with other kids all the time, but she’s not very alert person, and I saw couple times with other.6 grade is group class with parents
out of no where her son punch my daughter on the left eye, and the mom is on the phone with someone, she didn’t know that after half min. Right away you can tell my daughter eye got red and Bruce. mom say sorry after class. I am super mad still. Class should always have rule with parents should watch with you own kids not to hurt other, teacher didn’t say anything to the mom, that made me felt bad. after the couple class I am not going back.

I was highly disappointed when the business was sold, and how the new owners handled the transition. The owner before, Dorothy, was awesome and you could tell her heart was fully in the business. The new owners seemed to be ALL business and little heart… I think they listened to their clients though and have really tried to change this feeling. They have… when I go in, everyone is very friendly, they had offered some deals to me, they corrected some mistakes, and they have been really great with my kids. It is nice to see a business that cares about what their clients are saying, and they show that they want to make changes. My kids love Gymboree.

I have now been taking my son and the staff has been great. My son always has a great time and I am happy we chose to bring him here

My little boy loves this place, it’s a great chance for him to explore and be exposed to a lot of different stimuli and interact with other kids. Clientele and teachers very friendly and decent. We love Ms Jamie’s energy! Also, contract terms super straight forward and overall a nice place /​environment.

Brought my 1+ year old son to this outlet. JAIME is very supportive, energetic and engaging — she made an effort to remember the children’s names on their very first day. Unlike other similar places that I had been to, this outlet is much cleaner. The program is structured, ensuring that your child learns and remembers after repeated lessons. The group activities are very entertaining and interactive — to both parents and kids. My son very much enjoyed himself here.

I don’t know why this place doesn’t have better reviews. I must admit I read the reviews before coming and was a little scared, but my daughter loved it so I ended up signing her up! I am glad I signed her up because she continues to love coming here and the staff is always friendly and interactive with her. As far as cleanliness, it always looks clean when I go in and I know they have the icky bucket for items that need to be sanitized. Don’t be turned off by some of the reviews and check it out for yourself.

My husband and I have been bringing our daughter here for 3 months now and she loves it! I love all the different things I have learned here as a first time mom and I love the interaction she gets with other babies as well as the great activities they do each class. Teacher Liz has been great and is very knowledgable and cares for each of the kids and their developmental growth. I’m so glad we brought our daughter here.

I rarely post reviews but when I do, it’s because they’ve either exceeded my expectations or provided a horrible experience. Unfortunately this review will validate all the recent 1 star reviews below. I’ve taken my first child to this Gymboree since he was 3 months old. The old staff (Dorothy, Karen, and Jamie) were great because they truly cared about children’s development. There is another Gymboree closer to my home but we chose this particular location because Dorothy and her old staff truly cared about our needs. Karen was truly amazing with my son and it was evident that she cared for kids because she remembers the tiny details of his visits and other kids as well. This personalized touch made her irreplaceable in our eyes. Jamie was always enthusiastic and my son loved her! When Jamie stepped into the room my son would just stop what he was doing and focused on her. She made Gymboree class interactive, exciting, and educational. My wife and son would always look forward to going when Jamie was teaching.
One year later, new owners and teachers take over and the quality of education has drastically declined. Jamie’s hours have been reduced and leaves my son wondering who these new boring instructors are. My son used to go to Gymboree classes excited to learn new things but as some Unilocalers have mentioned, it’s more like open gym now. My son is just running around playing with their equipment while the instructors are just screaming songs. It is evident that these new owners are all about the money because they charge for everything! They conveniently have socks available for sale for those that forgot theirs. The old staff provided them for free. They didn’t notify us about schedule changes. They didn’t notify us about any diseases caused by their establishment, I found out through Unilocal.
If the new owners are reading this, i highly recommend listening to your customers. I embrace change but they have to be for right reasons. Don’t take away the children’s fun and learning and try to replace them with marketing schemes and up sells.

Gymboree
I have been bringing my son to Gymboree for some time now, and before the change in ownership my son would be very excited to be there. All the teachers were great and I could tell that they tried their best to keep my little one active and involved with the activities. After the change my son has lost interest in any of the activities. Sometimes I feel like class time seems like its open gym time, some of the new instructors can not stay in control and loose the interest of all the children.
I have also noticed that the class is hardly cleaned and/​or organized. I feel like I need to be extra careful now when bringing my child to this place. Before the change I could count on all the instructors to maintain everything sanitized and clean for the next class.
I feel like the only reason I stay now is because my child absolutely adores miss Jaime. If it was not for her I would definitely cancel my childs membership. I harldy miss wednesdays and Sundays because those are the only days she is there after her hours have been cut. I know that when my son goes on Wednesdays or sundays that he will be happy and he will be active and eager to learn. I feel that miss Jamie is there because she loves these kids, I see that she takes interest in every child not just certain ones. She takes the time to learn every childs name and she calls them by their name, and if calling them in a group she doesnt classify them as a level or anything else but makes them feel special by referring them as her friends.
As far as gymboree in san dimas goes, its a great place for any child to learn but management needs to take the parrents and children into consideration before making all these mew changes. Im pro change if it means making something better and moving forward, but how do you change something and go backwards.
One last thing I saw was the change in price; my understanding was that I was to pay a $ 74 a month and get unlimited classes and and after a few months I would get a loyalty discount. Now it is $ 78 for one class a week and $ 108 for unlimited classes, it is absolutely absurd. That’s unfair if you ask me. This place has drastically change and instead of favoring the clientele it is favoring the business owners. This place has become more Corporate than ever and has lost respect and courtesy for the clientele.
If I was rating miss Jamie I would give a 5 star, but in raiting Gymboree I will give a one star until things get better.

be aware! today i was told by an employee at gymboree there is a virus in the building called «hand foot and mouth». very upsetting knowing that my babygirl could be in danger. the new manager and owner sucks. i will be taking my daughter out of there asap.

Very disappointed! We use to love this place and have brought our son this he was 4months old (now 16mo) but last week found out it was under new ownership. We had put our membership on hold for 1 month as we have done before when he was sick and come back to find they had raised the prices from $ 65 for unlimited classes to $ 78 for 1 class to $ 108 for unlimited. That’s outrageous! No courtesy phone call or email. Also find out their has been a change in instructors. It’s too bad! We were even thinking about continuing but at that price No way. This place is going to lose business fast because there are other local play gyms we are going to try.

I am disappointed to recently discover there has been a new change of ownership. The previous owner (Dorothy) had built a great rapport with the families and established an excellent facility. As of now, the new owners have become a horrendous transition of ownership, and the quality of instruction among other things have drastically changed.
We have been taking our son here for over a year and were planning to enroll our future kids. However, this will not be happening, plus we, and I guarantee many others will be canceling their membership here for the following reasons.
1. We previously paid $ 65 (Loyalty Discount) for unlimited classes; now it is $ 108 ($ 43 increase!) for unlimited classes. The regular price is $ 78 for one class only per week. This is a huge rip off now.
2. The three previous instructors (Dorothy, Karen, Jaime) truly cared about the kids and had great relationships with them. The only good teacher left is Jaime, however, they drastically reduced her hours and now have two other subpar instructors who have no control and are not attentive to the kids.
3. This place has become more corporate and there is a lack of respect and courtesy for the previous clientele. We were never informed of the price change. It has become a business first rather than a student first ideology. As a teacher myself (working with inner city students) teaching has never been about the money and students always come first. Forget about that at this place.
Until the new owners change their corporate, unfriendly policies, I am taking my business elsewhere. And as I stated before, you will see other families leave as well.

I’m all for change when things get stale, but part of the reason we signed up for this gymboree was the caring and nurturing teachers that also were always smiling and having fun with the kids. NOW, there is a VERY noticeable difference in atmosphere. Dorothy and Jamie were outstanding teachers and am disappointed to hear about the change in ownership. Jamie is not there on Saturday which is also upsetting. Many of the gymboree parents I used to see in the last few months have disappeared as well, which doesn’t surprise me due to the new instructors. They are very nice, but not as ‘fun’ as Dorothy and Jamie. It’s a very chaotic atmosphere now and doesn’t seem as organized.
We were also concerned about some safety issues related to the setup of the equipment from the Saturday class. While parents held the parachute with the kids in the middle, the balance beam was too close to the walking space for the parents among some of the issues. Some of the setups for the kids were not interesting to my little one. The songs are even different which we didn’t care for.
I’m glad to see it is not an issue during the Sunday classes that Jamie teaches and saw a big difference in how much more fun our little one had in the Sunday class!
We were going to cancel our membership today and decided to give it one last chance to see if it was better. So glad we did and were thrilled Jamie was still teaching here! That’s the only reason it even gets 3 stars, otherwise it would be 1!
Fortunately the location has made hand sanitizer available again after it disappeared for a month. I’m glad this has happened after learning of foot — mouth illnesses possibly having occurred at this location based on previous reviews.

I used to love bringing my daughter to this gymboree location. We started bringing her at 6 months and she is now 2 ½ years old. Ms. Dorothy is an amazing teacher and Ms. Jamie was great too. I don’t know what happened but I just found out Ms. Dorothy isn’t working there anymore and as far as I can see neither is Ms. Jamie. Since they’ve been gone I’ve been to 2 classes with new instructors and I’m sorry to say this but they do not compare to the original teachers. They cannot keep the kids attention and it’s very unorganized now. I was disappointed today after I left their Saturday morning class. It was the worst class I have ever been to and I must not be the only one to think this way because usually there are tons of kids on the weekends and today there was only a handful. I will not be coming back and spend $ 74 a month for something that is not worth it. My daughter for the first time today wanted to go home before the class was over.

This is my first review in Unilocal and I need to write this one to this Gymboree. I have brought my daughter to the class since she was 4 months until last month at around 21 months. We would have continued if we are not moving to irvine. My baby, Sophie,
is a slow to warm baby but she really enjoyed the classes that we went for couple of times a week. And it is nice that they have the same routine every class so my baby got to know what would be coming next and I could see improvements she has made such as walking away from me to play with the toys in busy box, tried to touch bubbles with her hands up, tossing balls, etc. she also loves the song of ‘gumbo the clown go up and down’ that she sometimes would try to dance when we sing it to her at home. Last but not least, Ms. Dorothy and Ms Jamey are also great and they always have that big warm smile. Even my slow to warm baby had let Ms Dorothy hold her a couple of times without struggle. Highly recommended! love their open gym and love the change of the playground setting every one or two weeks. It has been such a wonderful experience, thank you!

Took my 18 month son here last week. He had a really good time. Two days later he got really sick. Cold and cough. He never gets sick. My friend got sick also. Then I got sick from my son and now my friends son is sick too. I noticed the teacher wiped down the big toys but its impossible to clean the small toys she hands out in boxes. Also can’t clean the big mats. It was fun but not worth the germs. I also saw a young girl in the class with a runny nose. Her mom said she was teething. Really lady? Shame on you for bringing your sick child to a crowded class. Boo on you.

love Love LOVE this place! Oh, and the kid love Love LOVES this place too! Ms. Jamie and Ms. Dorothy are Ah-​Mazing! We’ve been going here for 7 months and counting. Sometimes I wish I found this place sooner, but thankful I found it at all. The boy was cruising for what seemed like forever, and after three weeks of Gymboree he was running, of course like a little drunk sailor, but RUNNING, nonetheless! All by his 1^st birthday. Some may think he would have done it on his own, but I give credit to Gymboree.
I totally believe that if you can afford it, Gymboree is probably one of the best things you can do for your child. Sorry correction… THIS Gymboree! San Dimas location. We’ve visited a couple of other Gymboree locations while vacationing and definitely not nearly as favorable as this one.
I guess the only downfall is during the summer when the classes gets crazy busy on saturday mornings… 20 babies in a class is A LOT! I suppose that’s when the facility itself having high ceilings and being pretty spacious comes in handy.
IDK, be your own judge, there’s free preview classes, so what’s to lose? I’d bring a credit card just in case… You know to sign up.

San Dimas Gymboree is my child’s favorite place to play. My daughter is 2 years old and she looks forward to going to Gymboree every week (everyday, if she could).
The classes are engaging and not too structured for children. Indoor gym is perfect for physical development and compliments their cognitive growth by incorporating pretend play with gross and fine motor skills. My daughter enjoys pretend play with Ms. Dorothy and fine arts classes (when she can) with Ms. Karen. Gymboree allows children to learn and play in a safe environment with other children of similar ages. The equipment is safe, the children can run, jump, climb, balance and have fun with thick padded mats for jumping and parents within a «hugs reach». They do not hold a child back from moving on to the next level, if the child is ready. Parents are encouraged to play with their children which increases bonding time and most importantly shared memories.
There is always an opportunity to discuss the development with the instructors. They are caring, patient and proactive. Always, finding an opportunity for the child to learn.
In addition to once a week structured class, there is open gym time for children and parents to come and play throughout the week, regardless of their age. This is especially important to my husband and I because we are both full time working parents. This allows the opportunity for BOTH of us to bring her to play, especially on rainy days when outdoor play is not a choice.
There are also other classes offered, as mentioned, art, music, school skills, sports and there could be more, but I don’t recall all of them. Anyway, this is a great program. I have looked at other programs such as kindermusik and My Gym, by far I felt we made the right choice in enrolling our daughter in Gymboree. So much, that I commute 12 miles or so to take my daughter every Saturday morning. The first class is free, so it’s worth checking out.
I will say that the first class (or two) your child may need to «warm» up. So give it a try!

I have been taking my 8 month old daughter here for almost 2 months now and she LOVES it! She can be in the worse mood and as soon as we enter the play room she’s such a happy baby.
Alot of people dont really know what Gymboree classe consist of especially for babies and I have had many family members or even friends make fun of me for taking her there but you can definitely see an improvement each week with her so I dont care what they think. The play area consists of padded mats of different shapes and sizes for kids to play on. THey have bridges, balls, barrels that they can play in and on.
The parents are very involved with class so dont expect to just leave your kid for a babysitter.
If you’re looking for a place that your infant or toddler can learn and grow in along with social play than I highly recommend this place.
