Made an appointment with them online to save time. Got the email confirmation and instructions. Showed up on time, no one was there.
Manager said since it was a slow day, all techs had gone on lunch break together and nobody will be there for another hour.
What was the point of making an appointment then?

I love coming to this Pep Boys because the customer service here is always great and the all employees seem to be pretty knowledgeable about cars a and parts to order. Also my oil changes here never take all day and that is much appreciated

The best place ever! I could not be any more happier with the service I have received! The staff is so eager to help and I only go to them now. They really know their stuff and are so honest. I came when my battery was dead and since then, I came here for new tires, head lights, and if I ever get a nail in my tire. I love it here and I couldn’t go anywhere else. Thanks guys! (:

Women beware. I thought this was a friendly place until they tried to take advantage of me. They told me I needed front breaks replaced immediately, that they were dangerously low. Given that I’ve had the breaks checked before and had no warning of them wearing down, I was surprised. A second opinion proved this wrong, they were fine. Very disappointment as two other PEP Boys I use are the exact opposite, telling me when I don’t’ need something I think I do.

I bought a ¼″ Gearhead (pepboys brand) ratchet. It was such a p.o.s. that it just free spun. Brought it back the very next day and apparently they cant return a $ 9 ratchet without a receipt.
Went back the next day and someone with authority gave me a store credit. Rather annoying to have to make multiple trips.

Love this Pep Boys! Easy parking, convenient location, helpful and friendly staff.
I’ve been here numerous times. Today, I stopped in for a rear windshield wiper blade. The manager, Jesse, helped me to select the proper windshield wiper blade and even installed it for me.
Kudos to Pep Boys for excellent service!

I brought my son’s car in to get the tires changed and they sold me the most expensive tires available for that model car. He cut a chunk out of the tire on the other side to show that it needed to be changed.
Two days later I am a glutton for punishment — I bring my own car in for work on the clutch and they charged me $ 1000 for new clutch cord, flush out the transmission fluid, and adjust the clutch. I could hardly drive it after wards and I took it to the dealer’s to get fixed, and they charged me just $ 200.

I have been coming to pep-​boys for the last 8 years people are great, Eric, Miguel and Carlos
Came today with no appointment Miguel took me right away like being a good friend he knows me right away and also Eric. afternoon come to pick up my explorer same good customer service of Carlos who took care of me.
Boss or Managers at Pep Boys San Fernando should recognize these employees

I took my 2011 rav4 in for brake service after I had visited another auto shop for an oil change.
the other auto shop said I needed my brakes replaced luckily I had lifetime brakes from Pep Boys.
I called Miguel at the Pepboys service desk and he was able to view my service history. He found that I have lifetime brakes, and got me right in for service
Miguel checked out my car and found that my brakes were in perfect working order and because I was a Rewards member, which is easy to sign up for, there was no charge for the service. These guys really took care of me,
Miguel and Carlos ask for them by name, they will take care of your vehicle

I had a very positive experience. I scheduled an appointment online, was there for only 45 minutes, and Service Advisor Eric was awesome and he didn’t try to push anything I didn’t need. I’ll go back for sure…

Never will I ever take any of my vehicles to Pep Boys again… I’ve taken all 3 of my vehicle for services like brakes, control arms ball joint assemblies, tires, and routine maintenance. I’ve spent thousands of dollars over the years in all.
My first problem with this location was in July of 2014
I arrived with an appointment for a conventional oil change at 2pm. When I got there I had other concerns about my vehicle because I’ve been hearing some rattling noises coming from the front right suspension area so I asked the gentleman and the service desk if he can have that checked out as well aside from the oil change. And I guess a gentleman by the name of Art (I think he’s the service manager) overheard me asking the service advisor about the shaking and Art automatically interrupted stating that he will need 2 – 3 hours to have that inspected. So I said never mind do just the oil change and Art replied again that’ll take 2 – 3 hours as well. I said but I have an appt and art said ok never mind. Go ahead and do the oil change. So I surrender my Keyes to the service advisor and I go sit in the designated waiting area next to the big windows facing the shop area and I see the service advisor pull in my car right in front of me in bay #1. I sat there looking at mechanic raise my vehicle, pull the drain plug and left to work on other vehicles. Come FOURTY + mins later an installer comes to put the drain plug back in. Lower the vehicle half way, take off all 4 tires checks the front brakes with caliper or micrometer, goes to the rear drums, bangs them a few times with a hammer and put the tires back on, lowers the vehicle. Puts oil in and that’s it.
I get called to the register by the service advisor saying the installer recommends a $ 10 battery service and that’s it. I asked him what about the breaks and the filters? Are they good? Were they checked? That is part of the oil change service isn’t it? He said yes. He said according to the installers notes on the paperwork everything else is fine. I told the advisor. How can everything else be fine if he didn’t bother checking what I’m asking. I told him I was in the waiting area looking at him the whole time. He never checked ANY FILTERS nor did he check the rear drum breaks. All he did was bang on one side with the hammer and put the wheels back on. The service advisor said he sorry about that and that he’ll go out there himself to do the work. The service advisor goes out to the shop to address the issue to the installer and ART buts in and says I want this car out of here already. The service advisor tell Art the problem and Art yells go find out from the customer what exactly is wrong with the noise he’s hearing and where it’s coming from so we can check it. I over hear him yelling that. So I go and tell him it’s too late for that I don’t want you guys to so that service for me anymore after almost 2 hour for a oil change. I tell him all I want is for the oil change job to be done right as well as the vehicle inspection. I tell him isn’t checking the brakes part of the oil change service. He said no. Only a visual inspection is included and I told him exactly. How are you going to visually inspect a rear drum brake by just banging on the drum with a hammer and not remove the drum to visually inspect the brake shoes… He stayed quiet. I then told him also, isn’t checking the air and cabin filter part of the service as well, he said yes. I told him then how come it wasn’t done but according to the installers notes the filter are still good. The advisor went and pulled the cabin air filter and it was BAD. Never got the rear brakes inspected. Didn’t want to wait any longer.
My second encounter involved the Granada hills location. I had the front control arm/​ball Joint assemblies replaced on my wife’s scion. I received a call at just about closing time saying my car was ready. I went to pick it up and drive off. As I was driving home I hear loud knocking noise and scraping noise every time I applied the brakes. Concerned on what the noise was I called the Granada Hills pep boys to question the weird noises and they were closed already. The next day first thing in the morning I call and spoke to the service manager and told him what I was hearing. He suggested I bring the car back so they can take a look at it. I told him I was not going to drive the car the was it was as I felt something was wrong. I told him I lived down the street from the San Fernando Pep boys and I was going to take it there instead. The service tech put the vehicle on the lift and noticed one of the bolts to the control arm assembly was only about half way in and was stripped! Long story short they had to order bolt from dealer and got me into a rental car for 2 days because bolt was a special order. I could not believe the bolt was left like that.
And now today. I went in for oil change. Once again I say in the waiting room looking at bay #1 where my car was pulled in… All they

I was on my way to work this morning. And now because my car is leaking coolant from their bad job, I’m having to miss work. My plan was to just bring it in after work but now it’s effecting my job officially. My boss isn’t to happy with me at all, as I work a government job. Thanks Pep Boys!

I give this place a ZERO star, they don’t even deserve 1 star.
Please, please, please JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! They have horrible customer service, horrible mechanics! They are not there to help you, they are there to take your money. First and last time i go there. They are not honest, they don’t take fault on the horrible job they do and try to blame the customer.
Do not go! Do not enter! They are not worth your business! Please turn around!

Came in here this afternoon to get my tire patched up and the guy at the service desk says «it’s a 3 hour wait you should go down the street to another shop». He didn’t even consider me! But i guess that’s what to expect from them if they aren’t doing a $ 300+ job with me. Honestly, i wish they’d just get new staff all together. If it wasn’t the closest one to me i would never stop here again.

They didn’t have the parts I was looking for so they ordered them for me and they got them here 2 days earlier then they had said. Excellent customer service.

Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for a oil change. Unless you like waiting around in a place with huge cockroaches in restroom, support your mom and pops place.

Bunch of crooks here! I went for a simple oil change and they started poking around my engine saying my car needed a lot more services.

Our horrific experience happened on Friday, October 3, 2014.
My fiancé and I were trying to get our tires mounted, and the service department stated that if we arrived by 7:30 PM, they will do it. My fiancé got there at 7:30 PM, and I arrived shortly after that. My fiancé said that the employee turned him away — EVEN THOUGH HE ARRIVED THERE BY 7:30 PM. My fiancé was so furious, he left and went straight home, and told me to meet him back home.
I was then more furious for the incompetent, rude, and unprofessional way they handled it, so I went inside to talk to the manager. The only person available there was the parts manager, Kevin, who tried his best to find out who turned my fiancé away. No one there admitted to speaking to my fiancé, even though he had just left minutes ago, and I was getting more irritable and frustrated. Kevin also went to look at video footage, and told me the video was not clear on who had helped my fiancé.
I told them that my fiancé was Asian, and he had just left 5 minutes ago. That location is a Latino dominated area, so I know that the chances were very slim of another Asian just leaving there 5 minutes ago.
I then asked for everyone’s names in the service department, and left and asked my fiancé at home who had turned him away. He stated the overweight employee named Richard did.
While I was there trying to get the name of the person who declined service for my fiancé, I do remember RICHARD telling me that he did not know who spoke to my fiancé. He also tried to blame ERIC who was the assistant manager there.
Not only is the despicable, but very dishonorable what Richard tried to do. Not only did he waste my fiancé’s time and mine, he tried blaming his co-​worker/​supervisor for his laziness and lack of customer service.
We have never had an issue with Pep Boys until last Friday. We then went to Just Tires the very next morning and received much better service.
I am so disappointed in the way we were treated. Richard not only denied service, but lied and also treated me as if I was stupid. We will NEVER go to that location EVER again.

DUDE, these guys are awesome! They DIDN’T try to sell me stuff I didn’t need. They were fast and courteous and professional. My service dude even brought me to the bay to show me that my oil pan was leaking!
I got 4 tires, a new battery (some tests on my alternator) and an oil change. All done in about 2 hours on a weekday evening.

Shopped around on line for a cheap oil change, found this deal online for $ 19.99 if you make an appointment online during the week.
Made my appointment same day and was serviced immediately. I was actually very surprised at how friendly that staff was, they actually even did a tire rotation for free. Also I was told I could use a air filter change and they didn’t carry that filter, but they would change it for me if I could find one.
I didn’t have the actual coupon for the promotion, but I had a print out that said that referenced the promotion and they were super cool about it, I will definitely be back.
