I’m late writing this but Gary was great. I had a dryer that wouldn’t run and Googled it to find out the motor was bad. I told him this and asked how much for a new motor. He wanted to see it first. I wondered who was this guy that would question Google results. He came out faster than anyone else. The problem was my wife’s ahem. unmentionables. He was responsive, knowledgable, and didn’t try to upsell me. He is now my go to person for repairs.

Great service. Uses OEM parts. Came within the time specified, very reasonable quote.

Gary came out to inspect my faulty oven as part of the warranty coverage I have with Fidelity Home Insurance. He was able to come out in a few days, took a look at my oven, confirmed the problem (pipes were old and needed replacing), made sure he had the parts and replaced it on the spot. It was all done within 45 minutes. Gary’s style is more direct so i can see why some people may have found him brusque. But, I don’t need someone warm and fuzzy when it comes to repairing my stuff — I just need someone efficient who can get things done quickly, which is what Gary delivered. Would be happy to call him again for any issues with my kitchen equipment.

One star is too many. Gary is possibly the rudest, the most incompetent and the biggest low-​life I have ever come across. Homeland Security needs to look into this guy — as shady as they come…
I don’t know who is giving them 5 stars but I am fairly certain the positive reviews are bogus.
I placed a service request with my insurance company on ⁹⁄₂₁. A repair guy from Advantage came over two weeks later and diagnosed the pump for my dishwasher to be the issue. Today, nearly 6 weeks later they came back with the pump.
The repairman pulls the dishwasher out while he is telling me about his problems — completely unsolicited. He does some tests — takes him 60 minutes to do all of that and then he opens the box only to realize that the part is broken. I am thinking, shouldn’t you have opened this at your office or even when you first came in? He tells me that it’s best to call the insurance company and tell them that they should replace the dishwasher (the dishwasher is a five-​year old viking). I called the insurance company who informed me Gary has to call and let them know that a replacement is warranted. So, I called Gary to tell him that they wasted my entire morning and see what he plans to do next and he loses it — yelling and calling me names and finally tells me to never call them again and take it up with the insurance company!
A true gentleman — NOT! A true piece of garbage… He has taken our money and the insurance company’s money — he has not fixed anything and then — he yells at the customer and tells me to take a hike.
Well, that’s a given Gary! Not only will I not be calling you — the insurance company will not be calling you either and my next stop is the BBB. And — maybe a call to Homeland Security to have them check you out! Who knows what shady business you are involved in…

My negative experience from start to finish compels me to write this review. My Home Warranty appointed Advantage Appliance to repair my washer. Advantage phoned me to make the appointment, the representative was abrupt and not willing to explore alternative appointment times.
The service person who came to my house was personable and tried to resolve the problem, but was perplexed with the problem. He phoned for a consultation without an answer. He told me he would need further consultation and would call me back.
He said he had never seen my problem, the final spin on one of the cycles would not function.
I did pay him the $ 65.00 as required under my Warranty contract. He said I wouldn’t have to pay another charge when he returned. He also stated there is the possibility that it is a wiring problem and the washer may need to be replaced.
After waiting four days without hearing from Advantage, I phoned and asked the status. The person rudely said the report was made back to the Warranty company stating that there WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WASHER WHEN THE SERVICE PERSON CHECKED THE MACHINE. When I told him that was inaccurate and tried to tell him what the service person told me, HE HUNG UP THE PHONE.
The next day I phoned a different number for Advantage Appliance and told the person who answered what happened, he said he was with a customer and would call me back. I did NOT receive a call back.
I did phone the Warranty company, they took the complaint and scheduled me with a different company. I am awaiting the service call as I write this review.

Gary was the best. Called him and he came out within 2 hours. Diagnosed and fixed the problem in about 20 mins. Was thinking I’d have to spend my weekend shopping for a new washing machine. Thank god I don’t have to. So glad I called Advantage Appliance.

Was quick to respond. Our dishwasher and dryer conked at the same time. Unfortunately our just out of warranty Samsung dishwasher couldn’t be repaired, he warned us that the part wouldn’t be available. He called the parts company while we were there so we could hear for ourselves. He was able to repair the dishwasher and showed us the part that was burnt out.

Came right out, gave me a reasonable estimate, and even returned with parts on Saturday to finish the job.
What more could you ask for? Great guys, great service, would recommend to others.

Great — arrived on time for both visits, and promptly fixed dishwasher. Would use again!

A little over a year later, I contacted Gary who came the same day and immediately solved
the problem with the washing machine. I continue to be impressed with his knowledge,
his promptness and most importantly his ability to do an excellent repair. But before I forget,
his pricing is also very fair.

Gary at Advantage Appliance Services is the BEST! Always picks up the phone (or calls back immediately if not available), is punctual and wonderful about communicating when he’ll be at your place, and knows his way around every appliance I’ve thrown at him, from the refrigerator to the dishwasher to the clothes dryer. I’ve used their services multiple times and I’ve never been disappointed in the the level of service I have received. I will continue to call Advantage Appliance Services whenever my appliances act up.

Geary was great. He was very competent and familiar with the type of refrigerator we have. Our ice machine was broken and wasn’t making ice. All three people we spoke to prior to finding Advantage knew nothing of or about this type of appliance, or even who to refer us to to have our Liebherr refrigerator fixed. It was was hard to find quality repair service to take on the high end product repair.
Reliable, responsive, proactive, trustworthy. Professional, timely, respectful, neat and clean! We would definitely use their services again.

about as smooth a transaction as I have experienced in a while! Just called Advantage this morning – had sent a request for service on their website last evening but Gary said he never got the message… anyhow, he came out this afternoon, figured out what was awry with my Bosch dishwasher – faulty sensor of some sort – had it replaced within the hour! Also clued me in on how to turn off the annoying alert sound this model makes when the cycle has finished – a major plus! Would definitely recommend Gary/​Advantage to anyone!

My Bosch dishwasher stopped working suddenly. I reached out to Gary. He was quick to respond and scheduled an appointment with me. I had to reschedule last min and he was kind enough to come by the following day.
He found out that the control panel of the dishwasher needed replacing so he gave me a quote and told me he’ll install it once the panel arrived. He just came by today to install it and now it’s working perfectly! So glad I found Gary.
Very professional and nice guy. I highly recommend him.

My landlord wrote a review and gave him one star, which knowing both sides, is unfair.
I’ve used Gary several times, at two different properties and he’s always been quick to respond and nice.
His most recent repair for me was a dishwasher that needed a new control panel (or something). The lower prices referenced in my landlords review were from Amazon, not other repairmen. It’s a no brainer that Amazon is a cheaper place to buy from, but in this instance, Gary also went to S. San Francisco to pick-​up the part, came back to my house, and installed it on the same day of my call. There’s time and travel costs associated with that… yeah?
Anyway, the dishwasher probably had other issues, it was seven years old.
I would recommend him and use him again.

Gary was so bad that our insurance company sent another company out to evaluate the appliance. The other appliance company properly diagnosed the appliance and found the appliance damaged beyond repair. The insurance company is in fact replacing the appliance at its cost.
Gary did not even take the effort to appropriately diagnosis the appliance and was too busy yelling at me over sitting there for over a half hour — interesting how the story changes (see response below). He waited for 15 minutes, the time we agreed upon and the amount of time it took to actual reach the property.
I am injured and walking with a cane, so I was not physically able to move at a normal pace when I arrived at the unit — this fact was not only obvious, but explained to the tech, who yelled at me to move faster, among other obnoxious statements.
I filed a formal complaint with the insurance company against Gary and spoke with an attorney about the actionable incident. My father, neighbors, and a contractor in the unit witnessed the unbelievable behavior and discrimination presented by this representative. I even had a neighbor, who witnessed Gary yelling at me on the sidewalk, ask me who the vendor was because they wanted to make sure they never used them. The behavior was so aggressive, horrific, and discriminatory that my father rightfully called the company to file a complaint with them directly.
The bottom-​line is that I did not feel safe in my home, he failed to actually do his job and diagnose the problems with the appliance, and he is lacking sincere customer service and basic human skills.

Awesome service today when I woke up to a non-​working fridge. Friendly, fast, and honest. Won’t use anyone else after this.

I have had two negative experiences with this company and I do not recommend that anyone use this company for any repairs they need. There were plenty of other companies I later contacted who were much more respectful and reasonable to work with. Here’s what happened…
When we had an issue with our dishwasher at our rental property, our tenant arranged for Gary to come by and diagnose the problem. Never did he mention to our tenant that there would be a $ 75 service call fee (even if this is common practice, we were not aware). After letting us know that we would need to replace the control panel, we got a very high quote of $ 350 to do this. When I called around, I got much better quotes from other places (~$ 250 – 275). I called Gary to see if he could come down on pricing and that’s when he notified us we would be responsible for the $ 75 service call fee if we did not go with him. Talk about holding someone hostage. He never mentioned that upfront which was unethical. When I asked him how come his pricing was higher, he said that he has to charge an additional amount above the cost of the part to cover his «overhead» costs. When I asked if I could purchase the part on my own and just pay for the labor ($ 110), he got very upset and said this was industry practice, and that I was being unreasonable. This can’t be true since other places I spoke with said they would only charge for the part’s cost. Not only did Gary expect to make $ 110/​hour for his labor, but he also wanted to make another $ 50 off the part, even though he really wasn’t adding any value as it related to the part itself. Didn’t make sense to me. After a lot of back and forth, he agreed to come down on the price ($ 300). If he hadn’t already come out to look at the dishwasher, I would have definitely gone with someone else, but I felt bad since he already spent time on this.
After the installation, the dishwasher worked for about a month and then stopped working. Gary agreed to come back and take a look — he said the dishwasher just needed to be reset, which seemed to work temporarily. A couple weeks later, our tenants moved out and the unit was empty for a few weeks while we prepared it for our new tenant. Our new tenant moved in a couple weeks ago and notified us of issues with the dishwasher. It needed to be reset after every use, which in my mind, means it’s not functioning properly. After contacting Gary again, he notified me that there was nothing more he could do. He said the problem was likely internal and not due to the control panel, and it would be more cost effective to get a new dishwasher than repair those internal issues. I asked if he would refund us any portion of the $ 300 that was essentially wasted on this «repair» that clearly did not resolve the problem. He again lost his cool and said he had «nothing more to say» and then hung up on me.
While I realize that perhaps Gary did not anticipate this issue, Gary demonstrated a complete lack of respect and maturity for his customers in the way he handled both situations. I think he should have taken some responsibility for not diagnosing the real issue correctly, causing us to waste $ 300 on an unnecessary repair. We now need to purchase a brand new dishwasher 3 months later. At the very least, I think he could have refunded us the labor cost, offered to install a new dishwasher for free, and/​or get us a good deal on a new dishwasher (not that I really want to work with him again). There are many other fabulous appliance repair companies in San Francisco, so I highly encourage you to go with someone else. Not only will they likely be cheaper, but I bet their customer service would be significantly better as well.

I highly recommend Advantage Appliance Services. I called on Monday, he was here on time the following day. My oven was fixed very fast. More important, he explains everything and was really a nice guy. If anything needs fixing call him!!! He is honest and no drama.

Our refrigerator just stopped working and we really didn’t want to buy the new one since we just bought it two years ago.
So we started searching for someone to come and fix our refrigerator ASAP!
Luckily we found Geary from Advantage Appliance S. from Unilocal.He showed up just hours after the first phone call. And after just an hour of checking and fixing, our refrigerator backed to work.
We paid him a small fee of $ 65 and for us it’s worth it… highly recommended.
