All time favorite clothing store… all time favorite designer. Timeless elegance, with a nice edge. Still mourning a top from Babette that I didn’t buy a few years ago. But then, everything in the store always speaks to me. Babette is a Bay Area treasure, and the store associates are always so wonderful.

If you’re a woman who’s always traveling, get yourself to a Babette boutique. Nothing else is so packable, versatile, and flattering to a wide range of body types. Thanks to Babette’s fashions, I can travel with just a carry-on yet have plenty of different items for a week of daytime meetings and evenings out.
The San Francisco store staff is always friendly and knowledgable. If the item you like isn’t stocked in your size at this shop, they’ll make sure to track it down at another of the shops.

Most of the clothes here are terribly frumpy season after season. But when they do something right, they really get it right. One season they had a line of pleated clothing. I recall buying the same skirt in three colors from their Santana Row location because it was so magnificently crafted, the fabric so superior, and the fit so unbelievably flattering. To this day, no skirts bought since then can rival the utter perfection of the skirts I bought from Babette. My friend owned their pleated sleeveless shift. It looked gorgeous on her and ever so classy. Somehow that pleated line managed to be stretchy enough to hug the slimmest of figures, yet light and flexible enough to not squish the excess on bigger frames; every body type was flattered. Pure genius. It’s worth a few visits annually to see if any gems are unearthed.
