I can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet! Today is probably my 5th time I’ve had their amazing corndogs! Seriously this is the BEST corndog in SF and it is worth the drive out to the Mission. All I’ve had are their corndogs and have yet to try their sweet fried desserts. Listen up, you have to eat the corn dog within 5 minutes or it won’t be crunchy! Eat it right away to have the BEST corndog experience and don’t bother waiting until you get home. This is made to order fresh, meaning it’s not sitting under a heat lamp. 7 minute wait and then you’ll have a piece of heaven.

If you are not paying attention, you might miss Batter Up as you are driving down the street. There are plenty of parking spaces on the street surrounding Batter Up. The menu items are a bit more expensive than what I would expect from a hole in the wall selling corn dogs,(quite a bit more actually) but if you imagine you are at a County Faire, then you might talk yourself into shelling out. If there is ONE advise I can give to you, Unilocaler, is to pick a spicy sausage. Doesn’t have to be «hot spicy», just«flavorful spicy». Like the Cajun or Spicy Louisiana sausages. Do NOT get something mild such as the Apple Chicken or Pineapple Beef. I could barely taste the apple or the pineapple. The batter is so good. Maybe that’s why the mild flavored sausages are drowned out. Of course you have to get the fried Oreos. Of course. Get the Battered Cheese too. Those are fun to eat. There is no seating at all. Not even stools on the sidewalk in front of the window. The wait to get your order is not the swiftest either. So add the waiting time to order, waiting time to get your order and then the time to eat the food, it might be wise not to bring your super elderly parents(or grandparents for you young ‘uns) and expect them to be happy campers.

#1HANDDIPPEDCORNDOGEVERRRRR. I mean it. Seriously. The batter is fresh, made with real corn. And I can eat multiple corn dogs in a day cause its so good. I got the Lousiana Hotlink and it wasn’t as spocy as you think it might be. It has the perfect amount of juicyness and flavors. Top it with chips and a soda and you’re allll good to go. The size is worth the prize and comes out hot and bigger than your face, I’m not kidding. I would recommend and go back.

I gave this place 3 chances and every time I go it gets worse not only the food is under cooked the worker did not wash his hands after I gave him the money he even used his arm to wipe his nose. And they need to remodel the whole place it’s really dirty.

This place is great for that fried food craving you are trying to fulfill. I took my best friend from LA and she loved it! It takes awhile to get the treat but it’s worth it.

Sausages and batter well put together. I would just get the corn dog next time, i like the option of half and half or triple choice. corn batter was awesome, I would give 5 stars, except for the fact that the twinkie was battered with the same batter as the dogs, it is too sweet and thick for a desert.

So you get a big list of sausages, pick one, and they corndog it for you. A stick of cheese? Yeah they’ll corndog it for you. An oreo cookie or a Reese’s peanut butter cup? Corndogged! Good friendly guy on the other side of the window. My only complaint is that they don’t stay open later.

GOHERENOW! Just stop whatever you are doing… And go get yourself a hugeeeee corn dog! You won’t regret it!(Your waistline might) This little food truck, turned hole in the wall, is one of my favorites finds of SF! It’s hidden away in the excelsior and you’ll walk right by it if you’re not paying attention. But when you do finally pay attention and give this play a try. You’ll be dreaming of corndogs!!! They also have deep fried cheese options and deep fried desserts. The young man running the place is extremely friendly!

Batter up is amazing. Have gone a few times and always think about it when driving past Ocean/Geneva on 280. They have great giant corn dogs. Several options, and so far all have been delicious. The real notable things you may miss are the desserts. Battered and fried with the same batter as the corn dogs, the peanut butter cups or oreos or candy bars melt into the batter and make for a ridiculous treat. The best way to describe it is that it could NOT taste any more unhealthy, but every once in a while that’s exactly what you want. Staff have always been great. It’s a street facing stall essentially with no parking or seating, but that’s not at all a problem. Because corn dogs.

I was one of Patrick’s early customers when he first open in 2011. After a very long time, I finally was able to go back to try two massive corn dogs. The all beef corn dog is like a bench mark to see how good they are compare to a county fair corn dog and it very well match up to any in the ones i’ve been too. Very nice batter is perfect with a hot chinese mustard. The polish corn dog was equally balance in flavor as well as in each bite. For a bargain of under 10 bucks, whats not to like? I chat with patrick and he is very nice and committed with his product and is hoping soon to start a food truck in the city soon, Good Luck Patrick!!!

I am a corn dog lover, this place doesn’t compare to Hot Dog On A Stick at all!!! And I believe it’s probably cheaper so if you’re in the area check it out, not only do they have corn doge but also cheese dogs and deep fried desserts! I recently had the Louisiana Hot Link and it was heavenly, the batter tasted like corn bread and it was huge so you are getting your moneys worth. The owner is a really cool dude, he has a bunch of sauces you can try with your corn dog They don’t have stamp cards they give out anymore, but if you still have yours keep it! Next time I come here I will definitely have to try their double play!

What’s long, thick, hot, and juicy? A corn dog from Batter Up of course! I haven’t had a corn dog since I was about 5 years old and was never that big of a fan of cornbread. But I’ve been wanting to try Batter Up for so long. We were passing by it on the way from Brisbane and decided to find parking to finally cross it off my list. I love how it’s so affordable and they have so many options. Guy at the window was very friendly and helped me choose a cheese. These guys are made to order and can take about 7 – 10 minutes to make but it’s worth the wait. I decided on getting the double play combo of hot link and cheddar cheese. He got the triple play of hot link, garlic sausage, and mozzarella. All of these are under $ 5 for a very filling lunch. Healthy? No way not at all(though they have a tofu option I believe). Not going to lie, we were interested in some of their desserts, but refrained ourselves. When they were ready, we brought them to the car to eat, since it’s a little more comfortable than standing outside the window on the street. I loved how they were fried perfectly golden brown. The cornbread better is heavy, but it was delicious, just the right amount of sweetness and it was moist. The hot link was nice and juicy, not too spicy either. The cheese layer was at the bottom and gooey and savory. I know it would probably be impossible, but I wish somehow the cheese could have been wrapped around the hot link or maybe more in the cornbread batter. These sticks are hard to eat though as my cornbread kept sliding down the stick and the cheese was so gooey. He enjoyed his combo as well, but said that next time he thinks he could do without the cheese and that he didn’t really taste any garlic in his garlic sausage. I love the creativity of Batter Up and for the fact that they combine yummy sausage and one of my weaknesses cheese together. plus they got me eating cornbread! 4.5 rounded up. We’ll be back. Cash only if you order directly at their window, but I believe they’re on Grubhub and Eat24, so you can use your plastic there. Have fun with your weiner. I mean… Batter Up corn dog!

3.5 stars rounded up! This place is right next door to Popeye’s so if you passed the Phở place, you went too far. It’s literally a triangular sized room serving up various batter fried meat on a stick along with deep fried desserts(think fair food). Since they were out of the chicken apple, I opted for the pineapple sausace; the batter is quite delicious – crispy brown on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside like what you’d find at the fair. Except the portions are way bigger here for the price(4.25). It’s not all batter either, the meat is also not lacking in size and full of juicy flavor. Yes, still talking about the corn dog here. I also got the deep fried oreos(3.00 for 3) and was a little disappointed. Too much batter surrounding the Oreo, making it extra heavy to eat beforehand. Good place to stop by if you’re craving fair food and can’t wait til the next state fair. Parking is atrocious since it’s Mission St. and at night it gets a tad sketchy because for real it’s still Mission/Geneva. Next time I’m getting that fried Twinkie.

Just when I thought I was out. …wait for it… They pull me back in. I committed many sins during Restaurant Week, sins that could only be absolved by monstevouring the biggest worstest corndogs ever. Some are mmm, some are ehh, and some are just meat. #thatswhatshetriplesaid (^_^) Hot Link — Legit. (-_^) Portugese — Kinda… (-_-) Garlic — Not garlicky enough. (-_-) Lemon Chicken — Shrugs. (v_v) Bratwurst — Forgettable. (v_v) Cajun — Cajun what Cajun who? I’ll probably checklist my way through the rest of the ‘dog roster then just stick to the ones that actually taste like something. #thatsalsowhatshesaid

Customize your weiner! All jokes aside this place is great. It’s small, you walk up to the window and order. Just a window. You can’t walk inside. Think of it as a permanent food truck! And if you can’t decide or want to commit to one sausage you can do the double or triple play, 2 or 3 in one. The tofu dogs can only be used in the double play btw! Such a simple concept but I love that it’s my own creation. I got the Triple play bc I wanted to try a variety. I got the Portuguese, Louisiana Hot Links, and Lemon Chicken. I’d recommend the hot links and lemon chicken, skip the Portuguese. You have to wait about 10 to 15 minutes for your dogs. This part was torture bc I was starving but luckily there’s a Popeyes Chicken right next door and yes we got a family meal. Epic cheat meal! Not the best corn dogs of my life, there’s nothing spectacular about the batter but still a great novelty place.

Hot dog stand? No! Corn dog stand! Literally a tiny space(about the size of a cart and stand if it were outside) with a window that opens up to get freshly made corn dogs! I like the idea and execution of this place, but it’s a little heavy for my taste. The batter is crispy and tasty straight fro the fryer, but it’s not really a travel food. The batter overall could be lighter and crispier and pales in comparison to my memory of the perfect corn dog from the little red wagon in Disneyland off Main Street. I like that you can get up to 3 different types of sausage in one corndog. I also like that it’s a very simple and quick service. If I come back, I’ll have to get the deep fried oreos. Gives me nostalgia for the MN State Fair… sigh.

This place is literally a hole in the wall. Walking up to Batter Up I actually walked right past it before realizing that the makeshift plexiglass window was actually the storefront. Knocking on the plexiglass made me feel a bit out of place, but hey, deep into outer mission what can you expect. This shop is manned by one guy and I doubt more than one person could even fit in that hole anyways. The whole idea here is that you choose whatever sausages or cheese that you want, the guy will jam it on the stick and then fry the crap out of it to turn it into a corndog. And what a corndog it turned out to be. I ordered a triple play with cajun sausage, pepperjack cheese and lousiana hot link. The sausages were good, the cheese was good as well, but what really stood out was the texture of the corn batter on the outside. It was so crisp and light compared to the usual doughy corndogs you get at other places. I thought the prices were very affordable as well. Overall I would say to look past the facts that there are no seats, there are no tables, and you will be eating while walking through a sketchy neighborhood and just enjoy the best corndog you’ll find in the city. I would come here again.

After passing by this place so many time since it open especially that its just so close to where i live, my brothers and i finally decided to try it yesterday after browsing at the mall and getting gas. This place is like one of those hole in the wall place. They are known for their deep fried dessert such as oreo and snickers and of course they are known for their big corn dog on a stick. While looking at the menu, i saw chicken lemon with a side note saying ‘it’s back,’ so i had to try it. To me, i thought it was average. There were more batter of the outside than the meat inside. the chicken lemon, you can taste the lemon flavor. It is still a good local place to grab a snack if you’re waiting for the bus or you’re the kind of person who likes trying new things Since the three of us order our own corn dog and since theres only one worker, it took about 8 minutes for him to make it. It cost over $ 13 for 3 corn dog. I would said its average price/a bit pricey. You have your usual sauce such as ketchup and muster. They had a special sauce as well which is wasabi to go with your food. Friendly staff. Since it was our first time, the worker was able to answer our questions. Will come again to try their other meat choices…
