This business is truly shady. It was my worst customer and car repair experience ever.
My car was towed there to have one door and one fender replaced. They said that it would take 3 – 4 days and that the repair would cost no more than $ 1500. They gave me a loaner car and assured me that it will be of no cost to me.
The repairs were approved by the end of week 2 and the insurance company mailed the payment. In week 3, I asked them if they had repaired the car. They had not even started, but said they required extra payments due to «more damaged» they «just saw». Also, they asked that I either returned the loaner car to them or else I will be charged $ 90/​day rental fee. They lied to me that they needed to wait for the insurance to send a person in. When I called the insurance adjuster he said that they were not planning on sending anyone, but that they had simply asked for photos emailed to them. After that was finally done, the insurance mailed the second check overnight, so I had all the payments ready by the end of week 3. I kept calling and emailing daily to ask them about my car. The car was not ready until the end of week 6!
They charged an astronomical amount of money the insurance and me for a «rental» and explained that they needed it to cove r the monthly payment for the loaner that they gave me. Obviously, they stalled the repair process to simply collect more money both from the insurance company and me. Their business ethics are the lowest I have ever heard of! Stay away!

These guys were so friendly and helped jump start my car across the street before they opened, and refused any payment. I’d have had to pay almost $ 100 otherwise.

I called Bee Automotive after I was in a car crash. Gary Liu told me that I should have my car towed in for a free estimate. The car was towed in. Gary and John Tom told me that it would cost $ 330 for a tear down to figure out how much it would cost. Gary wanted more than $ 13,000 to repair the car. Another shop agreed to repair my car for $ 4,000. I went to pick up my car a week later. Gary held it hostage until I gave him $ 4,430 for storage fees.
Avoid this shop like the plague. Be very leery of this outfit. They seem to make their money by offering free estimates and then charging people thousands to get their cars back.

My first experience here wasn’t so good when I took my dads car here, but my 2^nd experience was so much better! I haven’t seen my car in person, but Eric sent me a picture and my car is looking amaze-​balls! Eric was really great and super helpful. Took 2 weeks to fix my car, but I wouldn’t complain!

These guys are awesome! Leaving work late last night, I got to my motorcycle only to find out that both the high and low beams seemed to have burned out. I stopped by an auto store to pick up new bulbs, but when I popped them in, neither would work. I searched Unilocal to see if there was a mechanic still open at 7:30pm on a Tuesday (yeah right) and to my pleasant surprise, Bee Automotive was open until 8! I called and asked Gary if I swung by right then, if they’d be able to take a look. He was super accommodating even though they were getting ready to close up, and bikes don’t seem to be their specialty. I got there 15 minutes before 8 and the guys went right to work. Turns out the headlights were fine, but I’d blown the fuse. The fuse box on a Ninja is obnoxiously difficult to get to, but they went for it. Deconstructed a chunk of my bike, new fuse in place, and headlights working again, yaay! And the guys stuck around well past closing and chatted with me about riding, gear, safety, etc. (turns out they’re all riders). Gary even showed me a neat trick to lift and spin the bike around on its kickstand, which was totally terrifying and something I’d never attempt in a million years, but it looked cool!

The owner was the nicest man, until he played dumb and won’t fix my car that his contractor messed up. I had them install an in-​dash GPS into my Porsche, and the installer was a drunk who made scratches everywhere. And because I was stupid and didn’t get a receipt, he has the attitude «prove you hired us then». And now won’t pay to get it repaired. I am out thousands now, and have to handle 100% of the repair bill because of his dishonesty. Avoid this sketchy place at all costs.

Let me preface this by stating that I loathe having to take my car into garages. I’m a female, I hate thinking that I’m being taken advantage of, my knowledge of cars seems limited, I only have to go to garages if I have been involved in a car accident so it always has a traumatic experience tied to it, etc.
When I had to get my BMW repaired from being rear-​ended on the Bay Bridge last year, I visited Bee Automotive for the first time. I worked with Eric and Gary, and they were very easy to talk to. Eric and Gary helped me with all of my questions and made the experience rather painless. When my car was repaired, it looked beautiful. I appreciate the aesthetic appeal of my vehicle, and having it restored back to normal in a relatively quick time frame was awesome. Eric’s customer service was absolutely excellent, and I couldn’t ask for anything more. I remain very thankful for the normalcy of heart.
I recommend Bee Automotive, and I would return to Eric in the future.

These guys are the most honest mechanics in San Francisco. They not only don’t screw you, but they tell you how to get the best deal possible and walk you through how other mechanics will try to screw you. They are honest, fast, and expert. Don’t listen to the negative reviews on here, these guys are the real thing.

My second experience with Bee — I went back after having a terrific 1^st experience. This was an insurance covered replacement of a passenger door on my 2000 Mercedes and their work was excellent, returning my car completely clean and detailed. But it was miserable working with them this time. Like working with kids, not professionals. They lost the insurance paperwork, didn’t return calls from the adjustor, delaying the repair by a week. couldn’t tell me when the car would be done — it took 15 days — and the only call I ever got from them was 30 minutes before closing time when it was actually finished. I called regularly to get updates getting little news except about delays. When I picked the car up, they didn’t realize the insurer had already paid them and waived the deductible. But they accepted my word for that without checking. They were always pleasant, but clueless.

The other week I brought my car here to see if I could schedule an oil change. I was told they were booked up for that week, but that I could bring it back the following week, and that I’d have to pay in advance (which I did).
When my husband brought it back the following week he found out (through the shop upstairs) that they don’t actually do oil changes at this place. After speaking with the manager of this shop he had «no idea» why they had charged me and taken my money for a service they don’t perform.
Maybe the owner truly had no idea what was going on — in which case he should do a better job hiring employees who aren’t interested in scamming people if he plans to stay in business. Don’t waste your time here — go upstairs to Euro Motorcars.

I had a problem with my engine coil at 7pm in San Francisco, I was desperate until I saw Bee Automotive. Very quick diagnosis and got it fixed within 40 minutes even it was beyond their business hour. I really appreciate the business with them.

I’ve been bringing my car to Bee Automotive for years and have always received fast, quality service. They took good care of my car and it looked better than it did before the accident. They’re open late and on weekends, so I don’t have to rush to pick up my car after work. Gary was really helpful with the insurance company. He also did an excellent job writing up all the work and patiently explained to me all the details. After the experiences I’ve had at other automotive shops, I only take my car to Gary’s. He is one of the last honest mechanics in the City. I also like that they are part of SF’s Clean and Green Program, so I feel good about taking my car there knowing they’re environmentally-​friendly work. They also do lock-​outs and have come super-​fast every time I call:)

NO, NO, NO.
I rarely write negative reviews on Unilocal,I prefer to rave about the great places. But this place is totally shady… poor workmanship & lousy ethics. Strong words; unfortunately very true.
Short version: my mom had my brand new convertible parked on the street when someone smashed into the open passenger’s side door. The guys at this place didn’t have to tow it; they just secured the door closed and drove it around the corner to their location.
As soon as my mother called me, I told her NOT to let them work on it, I was going to have it towed to another body shop. Within 18 hours, I had a tow truck from a really great body shop (see my other reviews) there to bring my baby home.
How much did these guys try to charge me for driving the car around the corner and storing it for less than 24 hours? $ 739. Yes, that is actually what they wanted in order to release the vehicle! He wanted to charge me for 2 hours of administrative time for «talking to» us (my Mom wasn’t even there for an hour & he spent less than 10 minutes on the phone with me, mostly trying to convince me not to take the car to another shop), towing (they drove the car around the corner, no tow truck involved), 2 days of storage, and a «full tear down» (which they did NOT conduct!)
There are plenty of places to get body work. No way do I want to reward shady business tactics.

Henry, the manager, is a fair guy and helped me through a painful process with my insurance company. Lesson learned– you do NOT have to go first to insurance estimator. Instead, just drop it off at the shop and let them deal with it. More likely not to get pushed around.
Bee Auto did a great job: complete, kept in contact while estimates were changing, parts getting in and timing. I even showed up 2 months later with headlights out worried that the previous accident caused more severe issued than we found at first but turned out to be just a bulb, which they replaced in 5 minutes and sent me on my way, snd without cost.
These guys are more than fair and reliable. I recommend them.

Great response. Even though I didnt end up going with Bee for my auto repair, Gary was very helpful and on top of responding to all my requests.

When Bill (their mechanic who specialized in American cars) wrenched here, they were my one-​stop-​shop for auto repairs. Now that he’s moved on, its apparent what’s left: a slow, sloppy shop with poor communication skills and amateurish manner of going about their business. A radiator replacement shouldn’t take a week, the labor shouldn’t begin before a proper estimate had been issued and agreed upon, and every escalation of the service required should be agreed upon with verbal communication.
Bee Automotive failed on all these points.

We took our car to Bee for a simple bumper repair. After the repair it looked great but 6 months later smaller spider cracks started to appear in the paint work directly over the spot where it was repaired. We took it back to Bee because they had given a warranty on the work. After looking at the bumper they said that it must have been hit again and that it was our problem. We are confident that the car had not been hit again as we rarely drive it and park it in our single garage and there is no mark on the bumper suggesting that it was hit. Now we are faced with having to get it repaired again out of pocket. DO NOT take the risk of getting your car repaired here. Take it to a reputable repair shop that will stand behind their warranty.

I have taken both of my cars here for minor repairs and body work and would definitely repeat! Gary and his crew have been very helpful and at times not even charged me for minor items. For example, I lost my wheel lock to my expensive wheels and needed to get my wheels off to put on new tires. Most tire stores will not do this w/​o damaging the wheels or make you sign a waiver and also charge you something ridiculous. However, I brought it over to Bee Automotive and within 5 minutes I was out of there with my wheel locks removed and able to get my tires replaced. It was a lifesaver since anyone having lost a wheel lock key can attest to the hassle and also the risk of having a flat tire and when even AAA can’t help you out.
I have also had body work done before and the quality and paint matching was impeccable. It looked like a new car! The quote needed some supplementary coverage but Gary took care of that directly with the insurance company and made sure that I was taken care of as a customer and not given the short end of the stick from my insurance company.
If you are looking for any auto body repair or if your car needs mechanical work, definitely stop by Bee Automotive and see what Gary can do for you. They do it all so it’s a nice one stop shop.

I’ve been going to Bee Automotive for a long time. I go there for all my body/​paint work, and mechanical. They’re very fast. They’re also able to work with you on whatever your needs are (insurance, out of pocket, etc).
Gary, the owner, is a straight shooter, and will never try and rip you off. You don’t have to worry about sounding technical to avoid getting taken advantage of there, and that’s hard to find.
