Great contemporary italian food, delicious cocktails and good service all for a reasonable price. We had the carbonara pizza, beet salad and the brunch punch(banana liquor, sparkling wine and rum) all of which I can recommend. We left wishing we could sample a little of each menu item. The patrons seem to be mainly SF techie hipsters which gave it a youthful yet easy-going vibe.

Very happening spot. Beretta is always crowded and I highly suggest getting a reservation if you can to get a normal table, otherwise you might get stuck at the communal table in the middle of the room. This place is loud and so it can be tough to hear others. Beretta is really more like a tapas bar as the portions are smaller and designed for sharing. Which is nice since you can either choose to be more cocktail/drink focused with small bites on the side, or get more variety for a larger meal. My favorite are the two burrata dishes: the eggplant caponatina and walnut bread w/mushroom-truffle honey. If there’s a few of you, I’d suggest a pizza, a risotto, and a few appetizers. One of my friends, who doesn’t even like risotto, said the prosciutto risotto was the best she ever had and would definitely eat again. This is a great date spot or a place just to go out for drinks with dinner and friends — but be wary of the wait.

Breaks my heart to lower my rating, but it must be done. The staff has changed quite a bit since my last review, and I have to say, they’re not all very good. For example, last time we had dinner there I asked my server what the dish the table across from us was having since it didn’t look like it was something on the menu. She told me it was from their ‘secret menu’. ‘Great! What’s on the secret menu?!’ I asked to which she responded.‘that calzone and a pizza is all that’s on the menu for you– I can’t tell u what else is on it or else it wouldn’t be a secret.‘ Uhhhhh. Wha? I just found that response to be slightly insulting, as if we were not worthy of the secret menu. Why have a secret menu if you really intend on keeping it a secret?! Even from your regulars?! Weird. This isn’t the first weird-rude-off putting thing someone has said to us either in the recent visits we’ve had. I’m still going to go because regardless of the staff, the food is still delicious and it’s literally 1 minute away. I just miss the vibe with the old staff we used to always see and the excellent service they consistent provided.

My company came here for our holiday party and I was truly impressed by how good everything was. We had a pre fixed menu which we selected beforehand, and were able to try quite a few different dishes. We started off with the olives, brussel sprouts and the burrata with mushroom-truffle honey which was amazing. It sounds like a bit of a strange mix of flavors but the honey adds a nice touch to the savory flavor of the burrata, which was delicious even by itself. We also got the kale & romaine ceasar salad which was basically your standard salad but very flavorful. The next course included the meatballs, which had quite a kick but were delicious, and the prosciutto risotto which was cooked perfectly. Risotto is such an easy dish to mess up but it had the perfect consistency and the prosciutto was a nice touch. We followed up with the margherita with burrata pizza, which was super tasty, and the spicy italian which definitely lives up to its name in terms of spice. For the main course we got the Manzo Short Ribs which were extremely tender, as the meat fell right off the bone, and had an amazing flavor! We ended the meal with a couple of delicious desserts, including the chocolate gelato and dulce de leche variegato. I’d definitely recommend coming to Beretta for a nice meal with a group of friends. The space inside is pretty small and it can get loud so not the best place for a deep conversation, but the food is definitely the main attraction anyway.

Beretta is a solid choice for Italian-inspired fare in the Mission. Start with decent cocktails like the ordinary madness or the rattlesnake, try some solid appetizers like the Dungeness crab arancini, and go for the delicious pizza, like the one with prosciutto and sausage that I tried. All delicious and reasonably priced given the quality and serving sizes. Service is super friendly too, and the establishment is quite lively, as it’s highlighted by a large, communal table in the middle that’s flanked by smaller tables along the sides. Great for catching up with friends in small groups, or if you want to celebrate the end of the week with a date, somewhere where there’s an energetic ambience.

This place is open late and has delicious food! There was no wait for a table of 2 around 11:30pm on a Tuesday night. We had: Walnut bread, burrata, mushroom-truffle honey — A single order gets you 3 piece of walnut bread topped with stuff. Everything went really well together and I really enjoyed the uncommon mixture of flavors and textures in this dish. It was a bit on the oily side but I would still recommend getting it. Squid ink risotto — oh this was sooo good. The flavors in this risotto is just spectacular. The dish was seasoned perfectly with savory squid ink and topped with some chimichurri that added just enough variety to the fulfilling dish. Funghi & truffled panna risotto — pretty solid risotto that definitely hits the spot if you’re craving risotto, but it’s not something that I would come back to the restaurant for.

Hip yuppie vibe. Excellent cocktails, dim lighting, perfect setting for all the folks on dates at adjacent tables. And the perfect setting for me to fall in love with all the food I ordered. Started my evening off with the gin-based Lonsdale which was basically a gimlet(v tart, v fruity, v yummy). And then the love affair began. The gnocchi with porcini & smoked pancetta was AMAZING. Light, fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth morsels of sublime goodness. Basically, love at first taste. The saffron risotto with osso buco was cooked perfectly al dente. Osso buco was quite tender, overall a very homey dish. I was basking in my own little bubble of happiness by this point, and the panna gelato drizzled with olive oil and a dash of sea salt sealed the deal for me. Yes, I’m a dessert person to begin with, but lemme tell you about this gelato. I wasn’t expecting to like the olive oil(idk it still sounds weird to me), but it works. So so well. Such a delightful combination of sweet and salty. Shoutout to our lovely waiter for being ever so helpful throughout the evening. Keeping Beretta bookmarked to try for brunch when I’m back in SF! Mostly because I have decided I need to try their walnut bread topped with burrata(yum, burrata). Note: This place was packed even on a Monday night at 7 pm(and even more so as we were leaving), so try to get here early!

I came here with two girlfriends and it was super delicious! Ambiance: Very very cute restaurant. Loved the vibe. We got here early at 5:30 and they were able to seat us right away. When we were leaving around 6:45 it was very crowded, so I would definitely come early again! Wine: We got a bottle of the Sangiovese which was good and very reasonably priced for a nice restaurant: $ 32. Food: We started off with some appetizers. Brussel Sprouts(3⁄5). They were good, but kind of boring. I felt like I easily could have made them. Eggplant with burrata(4⁄5). I really liked this! The burrata was a great touch. Gnocchi with pancetta(4⁄5) Crispy and flavorful due to the pancetta. Then we got the kale and romaine caesar salad. It wasn’t super special, but I did enjoy it and would get it again(3.5÷5) For pizza, we got the prosciutto parma with arugula. I liked it a lot and would order it again(4⁄5). I really want to try the margerita though, as that is always my favorite. Overall: Good food and the price was not ridiculous! We shared everything and it was only $ 31 per person(pre tax and tip), including the wine. I would definitely come here again.

Apparently Beretta is a very popular spot to brunch/lunch. My friend wanted to check this place out so we ended up here on a Sunday around 11:30AM. Maybe it was because it was the Sunday before Christmas, but we only had to wait maybe 5 minutes. Between the three of us, we ended up sharing the Meatballs in spicy tomato sauce, Prosiutto di parma pizza and the Creamy spinach, field mushrooms pizza. The meatballs were soon well done! I loved it! Both pizzas were delicious. I did feel like they were definitely doused in a little TOO much oil, too the point of almost soggy. Then again, usually very oily equals means very tasty. Everything was good, but I must take one star off because of services. The servers were nice but extremely slow. They were slow to getting our orders and very so at getting our bill and even slower for them to charge it! Overall, I think this is a place to check out at least once, but not a place I’m dying to go back to.

Beretta, you’ve hit the mark. Get it? Beretta… firearm? hit the mark? Anyways, I’m pretty sure beretta here is meant to allude to burrata and all the other wonderfully cheesy items on the menu. Walnut bread, burrata, mushroom-truffle honey — When it comes to cheese & other oily toppings on bread, that’s exactly what I like. The burrata here is so creamy. Risotto prosciutto with leeks & goat cheese — Risotto is another one of my favorites, as is prosciutto, so it’s no wonder I had to try this. It did not disappoint. Salty and creamy, while the goat cheese added just a tiny bit of tanginess. Pizza hot salami, coppa, tomato, provolone & diavolicchio — very spicy. Actually it’s not too spicy, but as you continue eating, it’s a slow burn. For me, it’s not long before I need a glass of milk. The diavolicchio peppers are hot. Pizza chorizo, tomato, oaxaca cheese, cilantro — I love chorizo. Chorizo on pizza? Yes please. Thank you. It was also nice to have the cilantro brighten up the dish. Panna gelato with extra virgin olive oil & sea salt, tiramisu in the background — I’m loving lighter, more gelatin-like desserts. I’m also a sea salt lover. Maybe we should all put sea salt on everything. Great dessert. It didn’t really need the cookie, but the presentation was nice. I also quite like the chicken liver crostini. I’m quite a lover of animal guts. This one is a drier, crumbly liver.

The hype is real! Which means, if you don’t come at 5.30pm when Beretta opens, you’ll probably end up waiting for a while. To be safe, you can arrive a few minutes before 5.30pm, because that’s when the lines start. That’s what my friend and I did on a Wednesday night, and were rewarded with a great meal. To start, we ordered the walnut bread with burrata. This highly recommended dish(thank you as usual, Unilocal) was delicious. The bread was nutty, the burrata creamy, and the truffle taste strong but not overpowering. I’d recommend ordering this dish the moment you sit down because food takes a while and just being in this restaurant and smelling all the food from the kitchen will make you hungry. My friend and I each got a risotto — she got the squid ink risotto with calamari(very happy with it, a strong recommend for squid ink lovers) and I got the saffron risotto with osso bucco(amazing, creamy, perfectly al dente rice complemented by the tender meat). We also couldn’t resist sharing a dessert. Our server recommended the coppa of dulce de leche. All I have to say is thank gosh it isn’t the new year yet, because I know my resolution to eat healthy would go down the drain. The dessert, while sweet, also had hints of salt from the caramel. It was creamy and yummy and oh so satisfying. I’d definitely come back to Beretta to try their other dishes, because everything we had was a hit!

My husband and I were meeting up with a friend at Berreta for lunch and our friend was running a little late. I thought that we would have to wait but the hostess was very nice and flexible. She took us to our seats and stated that it is not too crowded today so she does not think that it is necessary to make us wait by the bar. We greatly appreciated this, especially when there are many restaurants that are very snooty about their policy even if the place is empty.(5 for service) Walnut bread, burrata, mushroom-truffle honey: yummy!!! Such good balance, softer burrata and minced mushrooms with truffle and honey on top of crunchy toast(5) Squid ink risotto: best risotto ever! This is our second time ordering this dish at Beretta and it is amazing. Perfect texture, consistency, rich and creamy. I love the calamari rings in the risotto(5) Spicy Italian sausage pizza: spicy Italian sausage is actually spicy which is exciting for someone who eats very spicy. I think the sausage, sauce, and cheese were very good and flavorful but the crust was a bit soft in the middle and was nothing special.(4) Cabana boy: husband was having an affair with cabana boy. He’s a sucker for a well made cocktail(5) Brunch punch: more of a prosecco with some fruit flavor. It was enjoyable(4) Overall, this is definitely one the best restaurants we tried this year(2015)

I’ve had this place on my «to try» list for quite some time, but somehow it kept getting bumped for other places when I visited. When a colleague with a similar affinity for pizza and pasta wanted to grab dinner, I didn’t hesitate to suggest Beretta. The place was pretty crowded when we arrived, but the weather was warm enough for us to sit on the small patio under one of the heat lamps. I started out with a drink, the Dolores Park Swizzle. The drink was good, but I really dislike shaved ice unless I have a tiki drink; I always feel like it’s more ice than alcohol and it makes the glass a bitch to hold. There were three of us for dinner. We started out with an order of the bruschetta; I appreciated our server adding a piece to it, so we all could have one. For our meal, we split the burrata margherita pizza. The pizza was good, thin crispy crust; light, yet rich and creamy. We didn’t order any dessert, that was the one real disappointment in terms of menu choices. Overall, we were very happy with our meal. I’d come back again to try some of their pastas.

One of our first nights in SF, we met up with a couple of peeps from San Jose. They suggested this little spot, although I do not recall if they had been here before or searched it on Unilocal. It was chilly night, typical for this area, with a cold breeze ruffling through the streets. As we entered the joint, it was packed with patrons from all around. The interior was dark that I could barely see the opposite of the dinning area. The host at the entrance informed us that there was a 30 minute wait and would message us once a table was available. So we ventured off to nearby shops which was a bad idea. The worst thing possible is explore other eateries, especially to a person with such little will power. By the time we returned back for our table, I was nearly stuffed from the prior spots. The waitress lead us to the back, digged the lighting fixtures hanging on the ceiling with bare low lit light bulbs. What was more convenient is that we could actually hear each other. Not certain if the walls were insulated with thick covering or my company was just as a loud as the crowd. We started off with some drinks, sadly I do not recall what the heck was ordered but had a nice kick to it. Started off with some starters; sweet potato fries, stuffed peppers, lamb chops, olives, and other greens.(not a fan of greens) Best overall was the stuffed peppers, thats coming from a person who hates spice, these were mild loaded with cheese. Peppers easily sliced in half with a nife for the cautious eater. Second best were the sweet potato fries, topped with a savory creamy dipping sauce. To end things was the tiramisu for dessert, this was by far the best tiramisu we’ve ever had, it was absolute perfection. As we staggered out with a our bellies full to the rim, we may have left heavier but exited with a smile of content.

*Gorgeous location. Well-mannered staff. Familiar menu with unique twists.* Foreign cinema closed for brunch at 3pm but the hostess graciously recommended this spot not far. A 10 minute walk from the BART station later, we were seated by the window. Super pleasant brunch. ORDERED: French toast with berry purée Mozzarella pizza with basil Delicious pallet-stimulating satisfaction. Loud, trendy crowd. Highly recommend.

When you go to another restaurant like Delfina and you talk mostly about this restaurant… that is when you know. The food is great(we got the pizza with prosciutto di parma, tomato, arugula & mozzarella) and the drinks are great as well. Let’s just say that we will be back this weekend. That is how good this place is. I would say this is one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco.

I was introduced to this restaurant by the beautiful Bibiana, a dancer I had the luck of becoming friends with during flamenco class. We sat and reminisced about our times in Spain, and ordered delicious tapas. Usually our conversations then steer toward food, and why it’s not okay that churros and chocolate aren’t more readily available in the US. I miss her. I took Ryan here for his birthday a month later, about 2.5 years ago. Then, about a month ago we were invited to a rehearsal dinner for a wedding, held in their downstairs dining room — did not know they had that. There was a giant punch bowl full of a grapefruit/gin concoction, and then the courses started. While the courses weren’t as amazing as I had remembered, that could be colored by the fact that… The next day I woke up with the BIGGESTHANGOVER due to that absolutely amazing drink, which I can’t remember the name of. It packs a serious punch(heh), I mean you literally won’t know if you’re getting drunk until you wake up the next morning holding your head and begging for water. Not many vegetarian options, the meatballs were pretty good.

We needed a last minute celebratory dinner for two and Beretta, just a few blocks away, was a great choice. A bit of a splurge, but we enjoyed our food, and we were sat almost immediately(8:30pm on a Wednesday). The restaurant was still quite full(and actually our 2-top was inches away from another table, we could basically have been part of their conversation) and had a low key, romantic vibe. Our server was very chill and friendly, but our dessert did take quite a bit of time so the ice cream was fairly melted by the time we got it. THECOST About $ 100 total for a starter, 2 entrees, 2 drinks, and dessert. A very filling and very pricey dinner for two. Worth it(ish) for a special occasion, though they are conveniently casual(I came in workout clothes). THEFOOD See below, and check out my photos for more details! ANTIPASTI * Chicken liver crostini all toscana($ 7) — 4 stars This was not a cold chicken liver as I’m used to having at Italian restaurants in the Mission. This was actually cooked! It was chunky and flavorful. Quite heavy on the oil, though. PIZZA * Margherita burrata($ 17) plus sausage($ 3) and egg($ 2) — 4.5 stars Delectable. Crisp edge crust, soft middle crust. Very fresh tomato sauce. Lovely burrata. We just wish the egg wasn’t entirely on a single slice. RISOTTO * Saffron w/osso buco($ 17) — 3.5 stars Good flavors, very rich, but quite al dente for my personal taste. I’d prefer a more creamy texture. The meat also had really big chunks of fat that I had to pick out. DESSERT * Bonet-chocolate gelato w/amaretti & caramel($ 7) — 3 stars I think I would’ve liked this a lot more had it not been half-melted when it got to us. We were scrambling to not end up drinking it! The intense chocolate was fantastic with a hint of bitterness, and I loved the crunch. Simple and sweet. Except the melted part. Note to self: Try the Lonsdale(cocktail menu). Frothy light-looking drink we saw them serving at the bar.

SOLID choice for Italian outside of NYC! Cut your wait time for a table and call the restaurant within an hour of your arrival to put your name on the wait list! —beef carpaccio: a light starter —anejo cocktail: my kind of drink! —prosciutto arugula pizza: 6 thin slices perfect for sharing! I feel like it could have used more mozzarella but I enjoyed the crispy crust that didn’t sog up! —squid ink risotto: not bad, very al dente pasta, but I think I expected a bit more from this dish ONE gripe was how stuffy it was inside! Maybe because we were seated near the kitchen?

Allez on teste.
