*CRY!* I can’t believe this place is closed!!! This place, in its original form, was my dream restaurant. The menu= everything you’d ever want from an Italian restaurant and more. Anybody remember the original chestnut/guinea fowl raviolis?! Maybe the best bite of food I’ve ever put in my mouth. The fondue of fontina and cambozola! And the deserts: poached pear with rice pudding and currents– an affogato sundae to blow your mind– that sexual chocolate budino. And the cocktails: blood orange cosmo, and that famous italian gimlet with fresh basil. SOMANYGOODTHINGS! So the place changed ownership around 2005, and it still held on to some of it’s original gems = the shirmp scampi, the better-than-mom-makes-it lasagna, and some new fried up pasta dumplings(holy sh*t). I was still in love. Now it’s gone. And horrors– the place that replaced it was held up last night. What the balls!?! You’ve gone and left us, LSC. I weep! Let’s hope that like your namesake implies, you will roll back the stone and rise again. We all await your second coming.

Dear Last Supper Club, Why have you done this to me? You can’t possibly be closed. I thought you loved me. I definitely loved you. I even brought the in-laws to meet you. How am I ever going to get my shrimp scampi… my breaded pasta shells with peas and creamy sauce… my limoncello cooler? What will become of me without you? You were right down from Boogaloos, you know. I can only go there for breakfast. I guess Luna Park wins all the Valencia Street«Mission-fine» dining experiences for me. Or I can go to Levende — they are good. But you were my favorite Italian place in the Mission. Why damnit?!

This place was *awesome*. Unfortunately, it’s now closed and becoming a pizzeria with a different name(and I assume different ownership?). Such a bummer. The lasagna was amazing here, as was most of the dinner menu, and the brunch was surprisingly good too. Last Supper Club … you will be missed.

I can’t believe I forgot to write a review for this place, unfortunately this place is now being taken over by another name. So please rest in peace LSC! Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy some awesome food and service! We had our company dinner here last Christmas, downstairs in the private room. I enjoyed the party a lot. Upon taking the stairs downstairs, it had an interesting vibe to it. The service was great, and the waitresses took our drink orders right away. We started out with some fabulous appetizers consisting of olives, meats, bread, and cheese. Fabulous selection of wines and drinks. There were several tables downstairs to accommodate us… along with a coat rack for our coats(duh). I liked the classic movie poster decorations on the wall. It was a fun«family style» dining experience. The plates were all spectacular and very flavorful. Tender lamb and pork, along with some yummy brussel sprouts! The tiramisu dessert was excellent as well! Although they closed at 10, they never rushed us out… and being unaware of the closing time we stayed there until 11. It was a great place to have our Christmas party, that will be memorable! I wish I could say I’d return, but since they are gone for good… once again, thank you for the food LSC. I enjoyed the food and service! :)

Here’s a little lesson for all of your SF newbs(Points finger directly at self). People say SF is a walking city, right? Ohhh, it’s only 7×7, you can just walk everywhere. No need for a car, just walk. Well, I listened to this silly advice last week and decided to walk to this restaurant from my neighborhood and all I can say is, «FUCKTHAT.» I began my trek from Church and Market and seeing as how my fave bar is at Guerrero and 16th, I did the quick math in my head and figured, how much farther can 24th really be? Answer: very. And so I walked and walked and walked and began feeling my toes as they screamed out in brand new cute boot pain. I then slowed my pace a bit and decided to attempt a strut, HA, yeah, more like a limp, but even with this strut and attempts to keep my head held high I looked up to see I was only at 20th. What?! Jesus. I kept on walking and walking and realized quickly that there are streets between the number streets(duh, why don’t they tell you this!!!) and finally I saw the light, yay, there it was, the Last Supper Club! Yay. Once in, I saw a few of my co-workers hanging out and drinking and I joined them in a few libations before we headed downstairs for our private dinner in the basement area. It was sooo bad ass and I felt like we were mafia gangsters in this neat little secret hideout eating amazing Italian food and drinking fantastic wines and laughing and talking and having a gay old time. The service was great, all things considered… specifically, having to wait on a bunch of people who live in the world of reviewing as a career, but our server did great and I never felt neglected or forgotten. I will definitely be coming back here for dinner again, only this time, you can bet your ass I am cabbing it!

I went here for a company team dinner so I’m not familiar with the menu specifics, but the overall vibe is quite likable.. . and being escorted down the stairs to the private dining room makes you feel speakeasy hip. Service was pretty amazing.. . we had about thirty people in the downstairs private dining portion, and our waitress constantly delivered everyone’s drinks quickly and correctly. I was a bit too busy with my Prosecco to do much eating, but I will say the bread and dip is worth politely nudging your dining neighbors.

I was feeling this place — perhaps inexplicably, but I was just feeling it. It steps it up a notch from many of the shabbier options in the Mission but still retains a homey, friendly feel. The ever expanding Unilocal CM Team took over their private dining room downstairs(don’t miss the enormous Italian Flag on your way down) and we were well taken care of all night by the lovely Ellie and her team of on-the-ball busboys. Wine flowed, course after course of yummy food arrived, and we all ate til we dropped. Best dish was the canneloni, everything else was pretty standard in terms of Italian fare, but it was the staff(and the company, natch) that really nailed the experience for me. Also seems like a great place for a date or a long dinner with an old friend. Perhaps a bit overpriced, but I left happy.

Today I have busted out the elastic waist pants because I ate so much last night, but it was totally worth it. And luckily, leggings are in for another 2 days, so I’m all set. Amen to The Last Supper Club for converting me to an Italian food fan, and praise be to the staff for taking such good care of the ginormous work party I was with. I loved the dimly lit space and the casual, take your time vibe that allowed me to basically eat everything that was put in front of me guilt free. Their Ceasar Salad was so delish that I would have licked the bowl clean if it were socially acceptable. *Bonus points for playing great music — you wouldn’t expect to hear The Shins while you’re slurping down sauce but it was an awesome surprise that made me a very happy gal.

This was a good find on a cold, wet, and windy night. The interesting(apparently made by a pirate-bartender) cocktails were stiff and warming and the place has a cozy vibe. The food was a little mediocre, lacing in sufficient vegetarian options and the veggie sides were unremarkable although plentiful. The service was fine for the most part, although I was little perplexed when we were seated at the tiniest table-for-two in the place although there were plenty of other tables open. I hate it when they do that — maybe I should not take it personally. Maybe I should have just sat at the bar with the pirate(s).

Well, they get a big shiny star for having a pirate bartender that makes a fine drink. They get another star for being warm and cozy on a cold, rainy night. The last star is split between the friendly service and the food. The food was nicely presented and came out ridiculously quickly. It was on the salty side. It was really not memorable… quite a few plates of unmemorable«meh,» in fact. I was sad because I really wanted to love this place. Maybe I’ll just hang out at the bar with the pirate next time.

We wound up here last Sat night, driving around in the Mission for a place to dine after our initial plans had fallen through; my husband & I were glad to have taken a chance & had a very good experience. There was a 30 min wait for a table(9pm on Sat night) so we opted to sit at the bar, which ended up being surprisingly pleasant thanks to the friendly & attentive service from the bar. We shared the large green salad, which I thought was one of the best salads I have had in some time — generous portion of greens & pecorino, light but evenly distributed dressing. I had the Fusili ala Norma w/eggplant and smoked mozzarella, and it was fantastic — very satisfying and filling dish; the sauce was rich with flavor and the smoked mozzarella was perfect. The portion was so generous I was only able to finish half of it, and took the rest home. My husband had the Pappardelle Napoletana in a pulled pork sauce, which was good but not nearly as memorable. Even though my dish did not have any meat, we both agreed it was the more flavorful of the two. For dessert, we shared the Baba’ di Napoli’(a rum soaked sponge cake) with vanilla cream and strawberries, and I can’t really ask for much more in a dessert — cake, rum, vanilla and strawberries. The cake was served warm which pretty much won me over. All in all, we agreed we would definitely come back, maybe bring some friends with us next time. The ambiance is pretty pleasant; a little loud but cozy and warm.

Totally fabulous. All of it. I ain’t no fancy food critic. I’m not going to wax poetic about the layers of culinary expertise that may or may not exist in every piece of food put before me, because what’s the point? But I can comment on the fact that I had a fabulous time here for a friend’s birthday, and would return in a heartbeat. Why this place rocks: 1) The people working here are amazingly sweet and friendly. Our waitress was this totally awesome girl from South Boston(with the awesome accent to prove it), and our host sat us down promptly even though our entire party hadn’t arrived yet. (*looks pointedly at Dosa*) 2) We were here from 8:30 p.m. until the place closed on a Sunday night, and we were given all the time and space that we needed for the entire duration, without being rushed out or even a hint of the«why-the-hell-are-they-still-here» annoyed look. 3) The ambiance is low-key comfy, with enough subtle elegance to allow patrons to feel fancy without pretension. i.e., We could still drink a lot of alcohol and not worry about offending the other customers. 4) Food and wine were damn tasty, as were martinis and strawberry-mango mojitos. Desserts were amazing. And everything came complete with eager and honest recommendations from the staff. Like I said, totally fabulous. The evening was just perfect.

My friend was looking for a place to have my birthday dinner. I had heard of the«eat in communal beds, aerial acrobatic, and über expensive» Supperclub, but I was unaware of this cozy restaurant in the Mission. Fearing that this place was not good, and confused by the mixed reviews, I naively pondered putting a talk question on Unilocal for advice. But then, I was warned by seasoned Unilocalers that such threads lead to tirades in the manner of «read the reviews, idiot» and«use the search function, stupid,» but with harsher adjectives, and more personal affronts. I mean, how dare I consider using the threads for something other than sexual innuendo* and shock value. Heaven forbid they dispense useful advice… So, as I was misinformed, I read all the reviews of Supperclub and not The Last Supper Club and became frightened that I may have to become super cool by my birthday to fit in. I practiced eating in my bed while watching Cirque du Soliel on the tele in preparation. Alas, I was not crucified on a thread, or forced to eat in a bed. My savoir was The Last Supper Club. They let my small party order off the price fixed menu($ 25 for 4 courses) even though we ate in the main dining room. I like a place that makes exceptions. They also corked my Etoile for a $ 20 corkage fee. We tried several cocktails… don’t get the Mango Mojito unless you want to make fish face for the rest of the night(too tart). The other Mojito’s were a little watered down, but still quite tasty. The salad was the least exciting course, something I may have made in my college days after finding one tomato and a can of garbanzo beans. However the pasta course(cannelloni) were delicious and gave a meat/vegetarian option. The chicken was delish. It tasted flavorful like is was a free range chicken that had enjoyed its brief time on earth. And the accompanying polenta was a nice touch. For dessert: Tiramisu, not the best or worst, but with a birthday candle in it, it sure felt special. So if you are looking for a place to have a medium to large birthday dinner, don’t turn to those threads, take my advice because I wouldn’t steer you wrong. *In no way is this a criticism of sexual innuendo, it is after all, my favorite kind of innuendo.

I was looking for a birthday reservation for 12 in the Mission at 7:30 on Saturday. It was quite the mission impossible(haha, i know), but guess what, The Last Supper Club could do it. Almost every other restaurant gave me a 6pm or a 9pm. One extra star for being accommodating! As most of the reviewers have said, the food is a hit or miss. Good dishes and drinks included: + antipasti platter(hearty portion, with mortadella, salami, really good cheese, olives, and bruschetta). + lemony green beans(tender, hint of lemon. mmm) + Crispy Dumplings of Taglionlini Pasta(someone has to order this one! it’s a winner) + Mango-Strawberry mojito(wow! i think they had real strawberries… like a spiked strawberry lemonade with mint.) I had their seasonal clam pasta. that was salt city. the chocolate cake wasn’t that great either. Service was a bit on the slow side, but our server was nice, and patient despite how incredibly packed it was that night. And the ambiance: dark with warm interior and red lighting and curtains with wooden tables: . Would I recommend this place for big parties or an evening out with the girls? Yes. OH. Also. 2 blocks from Medjool. Thank you, TLSC! I had a great birthday.

This was a treat. Kimby T took me here last night after leaving blowfish. And it was so worth the running around. We belly-ed up to the bar order our drinks from the sweeties bartender Patrick. He was such a pro!!! Better than blowfish bar tend… FYI! I had order the calamari and Kimby T order the cheese fritters. I would so go back. Even the other customers were fun. This is also my brothers favorite place to have a nice dinner he tells me.

I like this place. OK, there’s nothing unmissable about it, but it’s just a nice, casual neighborhood joint. The name is rather, um, «Final» in an all too biblical sense though. Each month, they feature the cuisine of a different region of Italy. Makes things more interesting. Sicilian sausages or Campanian calamari? Depends when you go. And southern Italian wines are half price on Tuesdays. Get the Sardinian«Turriga»…Thank me later. The only tragic thing is that I always choose badly. Last time at the Last Supper, I got the lamb pasta and the fabulous Julia C got the lasagna. Smart choice. I was writhing in jealousy for her lasagna, and she kindly gave me a bit. Yum. They put something unusual in it(nutmeg? mescalin??) which makes it irresistibly«moreish».

We met up with a bunch of friends in SF after learning news that one of my best guy friends had just hooked up with a new woman and we were dying to meet her. Since he was usually stuck with high maintenance types with too much money and too much makeup, I was curious in meeting this lovely person who made my friend so happy. Again, what restaurant in SF is not packed on a Friday night. It was standing room by the bar, already three people deep. And the decibel level of the chatter here was incredible. We actually stepped outside to escape breaking our eardrums. From the outside, the restaurant is typical, a modern take to warm cozy home eating. Brick, shiny maple wood accents, and modern lighting made for a smooth feeling. Service was a little slow, but understandable since they were packed. We forgave this because waiting usually prompted long bouts of good conversation, which we took up without consequences. We ordered several appetizers prior to the meal: The Antipasti platter with meats, cheese, olives and crostini($ 12.50), Spicy sausage-roasted potatoes-and gorgonzola cheese($ 9.50). I love the idea of antipasti. It makes for easy conversations to flow around eating with your fingers and not having to look down at your plate. The sausage plate is good, but a little rich if you are prone to oily food gut-aches. Lighten the heart attack with pieces of bread. For dinner, my friend and I split two plates between us: the Pollo marsalato with mushrooms and onions($ 14.50) and the Pork tenderloin with green beans and braised onions($ 17.50). Servings here were huge, and my chicken was every bit moist and tender as it looked. The pork was not bad at all, but I think we preferred the chops at Park Chow(had a more rustic and grilled flavor). Since my friends are avid red drinkers, they ordered a bottle of the Crauford 2003, Brown Vineyard Napa, which went very well with the antipasti, but not my chicken. The flavor was too robust and dry on the palate. I would have preferred a Pinot Grigio to balance out the lighter fare on my plate. After dinner, we decided to go to Foreign Cinema to linger and stand upright while our food was slowly settling, and my friend’s new girlfriend got our approval… she was perfect. So much so, that they are now married. Not a bad place to have a quick bite and share decent food with great friends.

A neighborhood restaurant that also draws the crowds from elsewhere(like much of the Mission). Always order the burrata, if it’s available — a fluffy cloudlike pile of cheese on a tapenade. The pulled pork pasta was surprisingly good(even though it conjured visions of a southern bbq when we saw it on the menu). The fried dumplings were also delicious but so very bad for you — pasta and cheese and meat, rolled in panko crumbs, and deep fried. Mmm mmm good. However, the service was a bit surly and the menu holders are looking beat-up.I miss the old dishes, like the chicken and string beans and the rabbit ragu pasta. UPDATE: 11⁄30 We had dinner there this week and it was superb. So I’m bumping it from three to four stars, but there’s a danger I guess of being uneven. Specials from specific regions of italy, the rabbit is back! plus a butternut squash ravioli/tortellini combo. Almond chocolate cake for dessert. And ½ off bottles from Southern italy. Some friends arrived around 9:40 and the kitchen was closed, however and they wouldn’t budge on that. Maybe it’s open later on the weekends?

Came here for brunch and was glad to secure a table where I could bask in both the sun and the companionship of my platonic life partner in crime. We both ordered the cauliflower soup, which was a little thin for my liking and included pine nuts and raisins. Cauliflower soup or rice pudding? Still not sure.. . Along with the soup I ordered a Caesar salad and a side of french fries. Both good, though I could have done without the silvery slices of fish atop the salad. Did they warn of this? I don’t remember seeing anything about the fish.. . All in all, a pleasant experience.
