Bike Hut

Bike Hut is fantastic! Very nice staff, re-​gripped my bicycle in 5 minutes and charge me very little. Bring your bike here for a tune up and they work very quickly!

Renting from Bike Hut was easy and awesome! I would do it again, but make sure my seat was the right height before I left. Also, I would test my gears. That was a problem for me. Otherwise, Bike Hut was great.

A friend and I decided to rent some bikes for a day while visiting the city. The Bike Hut was conveniently next to the ballpark, so we decided to give it a go.
It’s $ 25/​person for a full day rental. They have good quality road bikes and hybrids (I had a Fuji road bike). The man who helped us was unenthusiastic, but very polite. They provide a lock and water free of charge, but we didn’t ask about helmets. After only a few minutes, we were off.
After a short while, the chain on my friend’s bike fell off the gear, and some of the links got twisted so that he couldn’t ride it anymore. After some deliberation, we decided to walk back to The Bike Hut, and we feared some ghastly charges. When we got there and explained the situation, the man immediately offered a replacement bike and some more water, and no questions asked!
The rest of our time was great. We had a fun ride to golden gate and back. I will definitely come back if I decide to rent a bike for San Francisco.

Not your standard tourist-​y bike rental place. This is a friendly, customer centric, highly skilled shop.
Highly recommend to start here instead of at the fisherman wharf. Avoid the headaches of renting at those touristy places.
I put together a group of 5 coworkers as a team building activity. We got here at 10:15 and they had bikes ready for us. They also made sure we had helmets and locks… They even gave us locks for our other bikes we brought, for FREE.
They also let us return one of the bikes the day after for no additional fee.

I got a new bike for my 3 yr old daughter during black Friday sale, the tires came flat in the box. My daughter wanted to get on it right away. Unfortunately, we didn’t have an air pump. I thought there would be some kind of community bike service around. As someone who worked at UC Davis for quite some time, which is a very bike friendly place (you even have free bike repair kiosks around the campus). Obviously, I was disappointed by the lack of such services here in SF or even on the UCSF mission bay campus.
When I approached these gentlemen at BH, they were more than happy to help us out.

I reserved a bike online through Spinlister and when I got there Mike offered me other options. The team easily flipped the hub from single speed to fixed gear as requested and I was good to go. I only booked the bike for two hours but Mike told me I could have it for the whole day! I can’t recommend this place enough, accessible bikes at great prices and awesome service.

The guy who runs this is super cool and not about the money at all.
They teach kids bike repair and do a good job.
I brought Tomomi’s bike in after she’d left it in the rain all winter. They did a superb job at fixing it up, even changing the cables for a really great price.
Tomomi unfortunately neglected the bike again by leaving it outside, unlocked, and it was stolen.

My friends and I wanted to try tandem biking and we came across Bike Hut on Unilocal.This is definitely the place to go if you ever want to try tandem biking or to just rent a regular bike! The rental of the bike includes helmets, bike locks, a basket (if you would like one), and they even give you a free water bottle! I also like how they have you pay after you’re done renting the bike. We ended up only paying $ 20 per bike for two hours, which I think is a pretty good deal. Overall, great service and will be back again if I ever need a bike rental!

Great location. Perfect service. Reasonably priced. Mike and his team at the BIKE HUT are superior professionals. He was able to modify the bike to meet our request from adding a basket to changing the seat or adding a but pad.
This location is convenient to those taking the BART and wanting to see more of San Francisco. His logos are discreet enough that you don’t scream tourist while riding around town.

Over the weekend my friends and I visited the Bike Hut to tour the city/​bridge from a two-​wheeled vantage point. I’ll start this great review by sharing that the owner offered each of us a free bottle of water. We graciously accepted and began our Tour De San Fran.
In the «4^th quarter» of our trip, I shifted gears and whatever-it’s-called got caught in the back tire, completely ruining this unnamed piece of machinery and rendering the bicycle useless. I was worried that I might be charged for both my trip and the cost of repairs, but to my delight Greg waived both.
Cheers to the Bike Hut, may you continue to rent bikes for years to come!

A couple of us rented bikes here after seeing their good prices. The man was very nice and helpful. He went above and beyond what I expected, recommending trails to go on (and warned us not to go to Sausalito that day based on the weather and expected amount of tourists).
After returning the bikes and coming home, we realized we still had the bike lock keys. He was very relaxed about us getting back to him, telling us to just pop them in the mailbox. He even offered to meet us in Berkeley, if it was convenient!
I would definitely rent bikes from here again.

Very nimble and quick process and excellent pricing
I was visiting SF and found this bike rental location around Caltrain Station on 4^th street. Literally it took me less than 5 minutes to get my bike rental and I was off to Golden Gate. The bike quality was really good (lot of gears and good brakes). I came back in 2 hours 50 minutes nd was charged prorated (16 $). Btw, it’s only 26 $ for a day and 6 $/​hour

Unbelievable service, at a bargain. I had my new mountain bike assembled on a busy holiday weekend. Mike was very helpful, and more important extremely knowledgeable. I didn’t have an appointment and they were very busy, but they found a way to get me on the road. His staff was awesome as well. My bike was assembled very quickly, and reasonable. I would highly recommend the bike hut on the embarcadero!

I absolutely adore Bike Hut because of their cost effectiveness, convenience, and service.
I’ve ridden across the Golden Gate Bridge 5 times in the last 4 years and Bike Hut is my go-​to-​bike-​rental whenever my friends are visiting from out of town or if my local friends want to take in the SF sites without worrying about parking.
Pros:
— Located 10 minute away from the San Francisco Caltrain station by foot.
— Cheap car parking in the vicinity
— Cheap! Only $ 25/​day for bicycle rentals
— Service: they take the time to make sure your breakes work and that the bike fits your size and needs. Baskets are also provided for ladies biking with purses. Bottle of water is also given to everyone
— Classy: no dorky/​tourist-​y looking pouches on your bike
Cons:
— Bike Hut is a bit further away from the main attractions, so be prepared to come with sun screen and extra time!
Tips:
— Get there when they open at 10AM so you enjoy the ride and grab a leisurely lunch either at the Ferry Building or Fisherman’s Wharf before you continue along to the GG Bridge
— Wear layers: you’re gonna need more layers on the bridge no matter the weather
— Pack light (no purses/​backpacks if you can help it!)
— Take the helmet: with über, lyft, busses, and other cars everywhere, you have to be more careful when cycling on the road
— Be polite and cycle single-​file on the right hand side when you get on the bridge.

Great service, convenient location, and great prices for SF! I rented a bike on Sunday and was unable to return it on time but they let me keep it until Wednesday and charged me for only 1 day. Bike rental came with helmet and lock.
Will definitely rent from them again!

This was my first bike rental experience and Bike Hut is as good as it gets! This shop is located close to the AT&T park and conveniently 10−15min walking distance from Embarcadero BART. We arrived at 1:30pm the weekend of Fleet Week and noticed how reasonable the price was ($ 6/​hour or $ 26/​all day) and decided to give it a go. The owner was friendly and helpful when trying to find a bike that suited my boyfriend and I. Now, these weren’t the types of rental looking bikes you’d see around the pier, these were stylish. He took the time to make sure each bike was in good condition and suggested routes to avoid traffic. Rentals include bike, helmet, and bike lock with keys. Before having us off, he gave us a map and a water bottle each.
Including all our stops to take pictures and water breaks, it took us about 1.5hrs to bike to the Golden Gate Bridge. Although we both have been to San Francisco plenty of times, we never realized how much we missed out because we were in our cars. We stopped by Crissy Fields for our picnic and enjoyed the airshow. The amazing trek to Crissy Fields, Fort Point, GGBridge, Sausalito and back to the Bike Hut was16 miles. We got back an hour before they closed and paid our fees; the owner was nice enough to give us another bottle of water before we took off.
Highly recommend this for tourist and Bay Area natives. Definitely a great way to be touristy and see all parts of San Francisco! Don’t forget sunscreen!

These guys are outstanding. Twice while on a family bike ride (our own bikes) we experienced flat tires.
The first time, it was my bike with the flat tire. It flattened out around the Giants stadium parking lot. My hubby and son (in a bike seat) rode to Bike Hut and returned with a Bike Hut employee and spare tube. I didn’t get his name, but he fixed my flat on the spot allowing us to continue with the afternoon ride. Outstanding!
This last weekend my hubby’s bike got a flat at the Ferry Building. This time I rode to Bike Hut and brought back an employee to assist with the fix. The tubes he brought with him were not compatible due to the type of valve on the bike’s tire and so he rode back to Bike Hut and returned to us with a compatible tube. Outstanding!
While fixing our flat two women rode up asking if he would pump up the tires on one of their bikes that was losing air. He readily agreed allowing them to continue with their planned ride. Outstanding!
I don’t remember the cost of each fix, but it was nominal. A flat tire is a huge inconvenience, especially when riding with a three year old. Bike Hut’s service is outstanding. …I might have already said that?

Popped in for a Saturday bike ride with my girlfriend. She lived in SF for years and wanted to tour me around. We biked off to Sausalito for a beautiful day.
Anyway, tiny little hut on the water. The staff was good, though not super talkative. Luckily I didn’t show up for conversation. Road bikes for 3.5 hours were $ 25 each — way cheaper than any of the other shops. And they didn’t have a bike fanny pack or advertisement on them, which was really nice. They were good quality and the staff clearly knew what they were doing. We’re both tall and they had no problem finding us fitting bikes in 5 minutes.
