I’ve bought a couple bikes from performance bike over the last few years. This last road bike I got on clearance plus I got double the points because of a special deal they had going. With those points I was actually able to buy pedals and shoes for just about $ 25. Additionally they allow you to return your bike within a year if you decide it’s not the right one. You will get a full refund as long as there are no damages. If there are, they will deduct that from the refund. They have great prices and sales and deals all the time and their customer service is usually spot on, and their staff are knowledgeable about all the gear and parts etc. Only occasionally has it been to crowded to get immediate help. I highly recommend this place.

Wonderful store with great people. I came here to get new wheels (rims, tubes and tires) for my vintage Schwinn and I cannot speak highly enough of Pamela, who made sure that I got the right wheels to fit my bike frame, explained clearly the difference between my old steel 27″ rims and 700c rims, and worked hard to make sure I got what I needed, even though it was a busy day at the store.
The mechanic, Miguel, is a truly exceptional person and bike mechanic – kind, patient, and an enthusiastic master in his craft. He pays close attention to detail but does extremely quick work. In addition to installing my new tires (and going to some lengths to get them to fit), he inspected the rest of my bike and showed me how to conduct a proper tune up to ensure its longevity. I rode out of the store feeling like I was riding a brand new bike.

Got an amazing reception as soon as I got there. The lady working there showed me all the available options, and worked so hard with me to make sure I got the best choice for me.
By the end of the visit, I was already rolling the streets with a new bike, all set with a helmet, lights, and a 10% off card I applied to my purchases.
This is just a great place I’d always recommend getting bikes from.

Fantastic and free group ride program! I haven’t shopped here much, but been on two of their Saturday rides. Both times I had Dennis as the ride leader and he was great. He took us on good routes safely, taking good care of everybody in the group and with great local knowledge. And he had a lot of other routes in his back-​pocket, so I’m looking forward to enjoying many more of these rides.

I had went to this location to swap out a Shimano Front Dérailleur I had purchased at another location. The transaction was smooth and respectful. Best customer service I have ever received from a name brand popular bike store in San Francisco so far. A mega huge thanks to pam and Ron for awesome customer service and helping get the right part I needed for my cannondale caad10. If I ever needed anything else bicycle related, I would highly recommend going back to this location. They are very knowledgable about what’s needed when you ask them a question, they respond with honesty and respect, without the «rushing you to buy something feeling». That’s heart in my book.

have been riding Saturday Morning Great ride series. John and Dennis (store employees who lead the ride) have been great. John took us last week to Muir Beach and it was a phenomenal ride, this week we went ot the top of Mt Tam and John made sure we stayed as group, were safe and everyone finished!
Ron (store manager) has been promoting local community donation projects such as breast cancer awareness and now food donation for Thanksgiving. It is great to see a national chain store take such an interest in the local community, hats off to Ron!
I had my 15 year old TREK 520 repaired. Difficult to get the correct parts (Chain ring) but service went the extra mile to be sure I had all the rigth parts and now after the repair the bike rides great.
Everyone at the store is super helpful. Olivia called me personnaly to let me know i had forgotten to pick up an item I ordered online and it was sitting in the warehouse.

Ordered a bike online and within no time it was ready to go at the store. I went to pick it up, only to decide it wasn’t the bike for me (no issues with the bike, just personal preference). Pamela was fantastic about walking me through my options and helped me pick a bike from their in-​store inventory that suited my needs! No pushy sales tactics and everyone was extremely knowledgable. Couldn’t be happier with this place.

I came in with a flat tire and in panic mode. I use my bike in my job and asked Louis, the mechanic, «How long to fix a flat? I’m working and need it fixed ASAP.» He replied, «Less than five minutes.» HE WASN’T KIDDING!!! I was back on the road in less than ten minutes from door in/​door out. THANK YOU, LOUIS!!!

This shop is the best. I bought my bike here in March and love it. I bought it online (via their online store) and it was shipped to the shop then put together. Super fast and great service!
I’ve been going on the Saturday morning rides for months now, and love them. Great people, great guides. All levels of experience and expertise are welcome and the rides are tailored to the needs of the groups.
I especially loved the chance to ride in the East Bay. Our guide, John, knew the roads and where to do. I hope we get to go back — so many more options than here in the city. However, the city rides are great as well. And, they’re free! Just show up at 9 a.m. at the store and be ready for fun. The groups are always friendly and sociable. Lots of great people week to week.
The service staff in the store are all amazing. They’ve always been very helpful whether it be with product or with repairs. I can’t recommend this store too much. Great people! Thanks to their help and enthusiasm, I’m now an avid cyclist and I love it.

If only I were able to give more stars. This bike shop is truly a hidden treasure in the bike industry. The employees are truly amazing and have a lot of knowledge about bikes. In just a short few visits that I have been there I feel like family.

I completed my first metric century yesterday, all i could hear in my head was Ron’s voice saying, «Drink every 15 minutes, go slow and steady, use a comfortable gear.» I cant tell you enough how those word got me through! And i didnt fall once (during this ride anyway). Thank you Ron for also spending over an hour with me on the stationary clipping in and out, over and over. YOU ROCK! I also want to thank Adam for endlessly searching and eventually finding the gear to pimp my ride. While riding my slow pace riders whizzed past me but slowed just enough to comment, «NICE BIKE!» Which gave me that extra push i needed, AND made me feel like a BADAZZ! Thanks ADAM! Every experience in this store has been phenomanal!

I rarely write Unilocal reviews, but I felt compelled to write this given the excellent customer service and experience I’ve had with Ron, Pamela and Adam.
Firstly, the whole team is extremely knowledgeable, and were very helpful with my bike replacement process when my bike was stolen from work. When I chose a bike, Ron was fantastic in helping me get fitted and ready to ride immediately.
As a comparison point, I used to go to the Performance Bicycle in Mountain View, and the level of service that the SF team provides is light years ahead.
The team also helped me through deciding between two bikes, and were amazing throughout the process. I now have my dream bike and I’m thankful for all of the help I’ve received from Ron, Pamela, Adam and the rest of the SF Performance Bicycle team.

Had an excellent service from Angel on fixing my flat tire and giving me tips on how to properly maintain my tires.
I would highly recommend this shop! :)

I went into this store earlier with a few problems with my bike. I called another store and told me that I needed an appointment. When I called this store I was told to bring it right in. When I got to the store the service department (can’t remember his name) I was dealt with very quickly and he serviced my bike in 10 minutes and I was ready to go.
I appreciate the quick care and some helpful tips that they gave me.

I’ve used this bike shop for a few years, and my impression is that they have a great group of employees working hard to satisfy customers. I’ve had an especially phenomenal experience with Ron, Adam, and Pamela. They are all extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. At one point or another, they have all worked hard to help satisfy my needs.
That said, I think they are working within a larger system that isn’t supportive of their needs. Performance Bicycle as a company seems to cut costs wherever possible. For me, this resulted in a bike with brakes that failed simultaneously (Tektro Lyra), issues with my Buyer’s Club membership, a bike frame that cracked just two years into its life. The store is also understaffed, pushing average wait time for assistance and even checkout to at least 10 min.
Every step of the way through these issues, the employees of this store have worked hard to remedy these problems, and they deserve your support and appreciation, even if Performance Bicycle as a whole does not.

Had a wonderful experience working with Nick selecting 2 Cyclocross bikes on Labor Day. It was awesome value compared to the surrounding bike shops and service was top notch. Looking forward to the return visit when we select accessories from their huge inventory to compliment our new bikes!

If you’re thinking of bicycling, or currently bicycle, this is absolutely the best place to go. From helpful and knowledgeable staff, to great products, to the best prices around, this is without a doubt where you need to be.
I had ridden the same old mountain bike for several years, then decided to get a road bike to commute to work. The staff took all the time I needed to explain everything and listen carefully to my needs. I test rode several bicycles, and at every step they helped guide guide me through the process. It was a perfect fit from cost, to style, to performance.
I’ve been back to the store several times with questions and minor service needs, they’ve always been perfect.
Whether you’re a beginner, an old guy thinking of riding a bicycle again, or a top performance athlete, you cannot do better than this store. The staff are knowledgeable, professional, experienced, kindhearted, and bring the spirit of cycling to you.

First bike purchased at Performance last year was stolen, because SF. But my experience with the sales associate was great and I rode the bike enough before it was stolen that I was able to get it serviced; nothing negative to say about the mechanics either. However, the 5-​star review is for my experience more recently when finally deciding to purchase another bike.
I saw an amazing deal online. The sales guy searched the back for about 10 minutes to find what turned out to be the last bike. Mechanics unboxed it and put it together so I was able to ride it home the same day. Since then Ron has been incredibly helpful with fitting the bike, making adjustments, installing extras, and even just chatting about commute routes, safety alternatives, etc. Unlike many other bike shops Ron doesn’t make you feel like an idiot or «less than» simply because you’re a novice and less knowledgeable about bikes and cycling.

Love coming here! My husband and I have been working with Ron and Adam for the last 6 months. They have been helpful and patient. What I love the most about coming here is that it isn’t about the sale it’s about the relationship, I value their honest opinions and their insight into what would be best for us.
When my husband needed to order a bike they made it really simple… I have been in there toying with the idea of getting a bike and finally pulled the trigger, I highly recommend coming to this location over any other!
