1 star is making this steakhouse seem overrated. Negative 2* for Food: Horrible steak. Trust me, I WANT to like this place — I live a block away. We ordered the Porterhouse steak to share(he wanted Filet Mignon, I wanted New York, so it’s perfect) — we ordered Medium Rare. The first time the steak came out it was past Well Done — the entire steak was brown throughout. I don’t normally send food back — but because we are paying $ 80 for this steak I did. We sent the steak back and asked for medium rare(again). 10 mins later we get another steak that is cooked rare. At this point I’m starving — I don’t want to send back another steak. So I decided to eat a steak that was still moo-ing(see at attached picture — note this picture was taken after we finished our meal, after the steak has time to finish cooking). You can see in the attached picture that 25% of my New York steak was gristle and I had to spit it out(gross!). Not how I want my $ 80 steak. If I am going to a steakhouse, I WANT A GOODFUCKINGSTEAK — something that will leave me on my couch feeling like I ate way too much. Also ordered the Twice Baked Potato and Brussel Sprouts. Twice Baked Potato lacked flavor, bacon, and enough sour cream. The Brussel Spouts were still hard, like how my mom used to undercook them(sorry mom!). Negative 2* for Service: Upon sitting down(2−3mins) we were asked if we were ready to order — we said that other than wine, no, come back in a few minutes for our food order. She comes back in a few minutes. We ordered steak and also some water. 10 mins later(keep in mind — sitting next to the bar) still no wine. Finally 20 mins later we get the wine we originally ordered(no water though –FYI). Wine was alright — I don’t rate on wine as everyone’s pallet is different. Anyways, we eat our steak and my boyfriend finishes his wine halfway though the steak. Waiter asks if he wants more — he says yes. We do not get more wine until after we finish eating, and that is only after asking three times. It also took us asking three times to get a glass of water. Not acceptable for a «fancy» steakhouse. — Value: $ 180 bill for this shit? Sorry, but no thanks. We won’t be back. That leaves zero stars, but because we are required to leave one star that is what will show. Side note — My boyfriend and I ate at the main steakhouse for his bday, this was the completely opposite experience. Not sure if it depends on the chef or the waiter(or both), but either way inconsistency is not good for a high quality restaurant. Get your shit together.

This really is a fun place — great for special occasions. We came for our daughter’s graduation, a party of 8 and we had such a nice experience. The food was delicious and the steaks are amazing, cooked to perfection. There are so many options on the menu to choose from. It is not cheap, but for the excellent service, yummy food and all around fun time that we all had, it is totally worth it. Drinks are very good, too. We will be back.

Had a great long evening taking my visiting aunt and uncle here last night. We arrived a little early so we grabbed a drink at the bar, as we sipped and caught-up I realized that we had passed out reservation time by 15 minutes or so, when I alerted the hosted she quickly told us our table was ready and waiting for us whenever we were finished at the bar, she just didn’t want to interrupt our drinks. A nice reminder that they were on our time as guests, rather than the other way around. We immediately ditched the bar and went to our table to mull over the impressive menu. all said the three of us ordered a Cesar salad, the brussel sprouts, smoked salmon and crab crustini, the walnut and cranberry(i believe) salad, the bone in new york cut, the bone in petite filet mignon, and a half crab. I had the bone in petite filet mignon and I can assuredly say it was one of the best steaks I’ve had in my life. absolutely delicious, and with the crab and brussel sprouts it was an amazing, and extremely filling meal. Remarks from my aunt uncle on their meals were high as well. We lingered on catching up and chatting and never felt pressure from the staff to move along, or server was friendly and attentive without being overbearing(and had a great french accent which only added to the old world charm of the dining experience). Enjoy any of the above menu items with their perfect«bofashioned» cocktail, and you’re in for a good night.

Probably the best steakhouse in the city, in my opinion. The mussels are worth every penny and my recommendation for steak would be the Bone in Filet. The carved sourdough type bread is also dunked in butter and garlic then toasted. A+ service

The menu is a la cart. The steaks are very tender, but Lobster soup however was just ok. One piece of lobster in my soup. Tasted like split pea soup not lobster. The server was nice. Romantic setting and cozy booths near the window offer a street view. Beautiful for a Christmas dinner in the city.

Dinner at Bobo’s on 12⁄30. 8:30 seating for four. Drinks at the bar — blood orange margarita with black salt and a whiskey. $ 38 before tip. I had the margarita and it was pretty good. It would be nice to get it in a margarita glass instead of a wine glass. No big deal. Dinner — My boyfriend and I shared the cranberry blue cheese salad. It was just okay. Very sharp vinaigrette and the ingredients didn’t seem to mesh. I had the petite filet. It was cooked kind of unevenly, partially overcooked, partially undercooked. No seasoning at all. Some salt would have been appreciated. The macaroni and cheese was pretty good. The flavor was nice and deep with cheese and it was well seasoned, but it was dry. It should have been creamy and it wasn’t. I wanted to try their jester’s hat dessert, but after being disappointed with the meal, I decided to just have coffee. The coffee was good, but it should have been a little hotter. Service — The supporting staff was great, bringing the bread and keeping the table cleared, but our server was just okay. I was hoping that she would refill my coffee, but once she dropped it off, she spent the rest of the evening in a staff area talking to another employee. I got the impression that she was ready for us to leave. Menu — Their selection of sides is just okay. It would have been nice to have Macallan 12, and not just 18. Ambiance — This is the best part of the experience here. It’s cozy and festive but not loud or flashy. It’s not dark and clubby like Morton’s, it’s colourful but not too bright and very welcoming. San Francisco has many other steakhouses that I would recommend before Bobo’s. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. For just under $ 300 with tip for two, I can think of other places to go.

Little Paris in SF! Great drinks and food. Cool and knowledgeable bartender(Paul) Made my day! Lounge is an extension of the main restaurant. I got to come back and check the main restaurant and head back here again. Try the smoking mirror cocktail! Amazing!

We stopped in at the end of a long run, right before 7. The bartend was brand new and she was super super sweet. made us a signature cocktail and amiably chatted, etc. The French inspired décor, the clowns, red velvet and chandeliers? Though bordering on creepy, pretty cool.

Can I give them a zero? The dinner started well. Wait staff was great and we had an very good meal. As we were ordering our dessert(1 to share for four people) We were told we had to give up our table and go down stairs because they needed our table for some large party. We just had a $ 500 dinner, had two half bottles of wine an the table but they were done with us. Get the F… Out. That is how we felt. It was already 9:30 We probably would have been out in 15 minutes but they couldn’t wait. They ruined what was a pleasant meal. We couldn’t ’t get out of there fast enough

First time in. Very awesome service. The wait staff actually cared. Checked on us without being ooberly annoying like a car salesman. Ambiance totally chill. The food. Amazing! Potstickers were off the chain and my crab lasagna was perfect. Hit the spot. I’d definitely come back! :)

Bone-in filet mignon is hands down the best steak I’ve had in eons. It tastes like the steak had a naughty affair with herb butter. The whole crab was fantastic(you do crack it yourself, which I enjoy). Come is a savory parm butter sauce which is delish. Also the warm towelettes at the end are a nice touch. Twice baked potato was delicious and creamy. As was the Mac and cheese side dish. Free garlic olive pile bread to start is amazing! The ambiance is teetering on the brink of kitsch but I think it’s a nice departure from a stuffy steakhouse! The 14oz steak, whole crab and two sides were more than enough for 2 people. And at under $ 120 for two, was a great deal for the quality and quantity;

Andrea and the staff here have created a lovely space for relaxing with friends, family or a date. Excellent cocktails, great wine and delicious food. If you want a more substantial meal, be sure to check out the sister restaurant, Boboquivari, just down the street!

Well known for their bone in filet mignon and new york steak, well this place has to be one of the best kept local secrets! You walk into a 70’s san francisco art deco bar and restaurant. The food is top notch! Service excellent! I cant remember having a better filet mignon in a long time! Give this place a try…

We held a surprise birthday party here. It was nice because it’s small and so literally the entire place was taken up by our group(tad too cozy — I had to straegize my path to the bathroom without making too many people snuck their guts in). It was kind of awkward though when random people came in to go to the bar, since they literally had to walk through our 20 person party. I wasn’t terribly impressed with the food. Our table received our food first so you’d think it’d be the freshest but it tasted like it was sitting under a warming lamp for 10+ minutes. I got a crab enchilada and it was really just ok. I shared the mac’n’cheese and it tasted burnt. Hardly cheesey at all. In fact, I took a bite of someones steak and it tasted like burnt popcorn. Something weird was going with their food. Another odd thing is that the bartenders told us all it was«open bar» since it was an arranged event(we figured this meant we’d all get charged a flat rate and drink however much we wanted). Nope, turned out we got charged for each individual drink. Not sure what their definition of open bar is. So it came out to nearly approx. $ 300 with tip for our 4 person table. My main dish was ~$ 14.50 and the mac’n’cheese app, which was split, was $ 9. Steaks were of course on the higher end ~$ 35 – 40. Moscow Mule was not impressive either. It was quite sweet. My Cab Sauv was good though. Perhaps it is a good place for a party but if you’re going for a good food experience, I’d pass.

It’s not everyday the owner, Chef Andrea Froncillo cooks and serves you! Things to try when you’re here: Branzino — Fried to perfection and cut so you can easily use your fork to get out the chunks of meat. Goes perfectly with the sweet soy sauce they have on the bottom of the place. Presentation is great! Oxtail Tom Yum Soup — My favorite thing! The oxtail falls apart, but I wish they gave you more than one piece of oxtail. It’s so good! The hot and sour soup opens up your palate so you can eat more! Oysters — I’m not even a big fan of oysters, but theirs were really sweet. Their alcohol list is extensive. If you love whisky, you’re in heaven here. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the things on the menu. Heard the steakhouse next door is just as delicious… will need to try it out one day!

I’ll make this review short in sweet as today is going to be day with a few reviews for catch up. If you’re at Bobo’s Steak and Crab house and get their a little early and want some drinks and/or apps then you must come here. Service is great, and the time will pass quickly enough for your table to be ready. It’s a nice little bar. Get your drinks while you wait! Can’t complain about that at all. As I said, this is my short and sweet review for the month of February!

For my father’s birthday Bobo’s went all out. He wanted steak, and we got some of the best steak San Francisco has to offer. Served on cutting boards, the filet and bone-in New York we got were both outstanding. The drinks were top-notch as well.

Came here on a Sunday night with the boyfriend. My first time and his second time. We got the crab cakes as an appetizer(only two pieces) Complimentary bread was different, and very hard crust! We both ordered the crab and filet mignon as the main course and it was more than enough, ended up taking some crab home! Also had the twice baked potato which was really plain. I had the Mac and cheese as my side order and the top was way over cooked and very hard to chew. The atmosphere is nice and dim. I wish we didn’t have to sit so close to other tables because it made it hard to hear our own conversations.(Seated upstairs) The bathrooms are through these heavy curtains and if you’re waiting there is not much room to stand. Overall it was a good experience and the food was decent. Parking is available(valet) but we easily found parking across the street at 8pm.

We passed by Boob’s Lounge each night on our way to our hotel on Lombard St. It looked cool, cute, we always stopped to peak in. On our last night in the city we decided to go in, give it a shot. It’s exactly the type of bar I miss from Europe. It has atmosphere, nice, classy décor, the light is dim, they play great music in the background. It’s the type of place that you can have a conversation with your friends, with your significant other, etc. It’s not loud, this isn’t a meat market. Just a cool place to hang out for a while, enjoy a drink and the ambiance. It was pretty new when we visited, they didn’t have a drink menu, we just ordered 2 Mai-Tais at the bar and they were great! Nice and strong. I loved their tables, their intimate, cozy atmosphere and the fact they don’t have TV-s in there. If I’d live in SF, I would go often to this place. From the street, you just open the door of Bobo’s Lounge and step into another world. That’s my idea of a cool bar.

Awesome steak. It was great to just sit at the bar and enjoy a fine ribeye with extremely well prepared mushrooms. I chose a great Bordeaux to pair with it after enjoying a finely prepared old fashioned upon arrival. It is COZY inside, but not so much that you feel crammed. It really is just close enough quarters to give the place some charm. There is a lot of history in the room with tons of vintage photos lining the wall. It is an atmosphere that just really enhances your conversation with whomever you are enjoying the place with. The yellowtail carpaccio was our appetizer and it was very fresh. The portion was strong as well. Not a hint of parsimony, which can always be a risk at a place like this. Everything came out promptly, but not at a rushed pace. When we were ready for steaks, the steaks came. The quality of the ribeye was very strong. Hardly had to cut, hardly had to chew. The char was crisp, and the flavor was robust. Glad I went!
