This bar belongs in the marina or anywhere, but not Mission and Ocean Ave. Nice staff, large/open/clean space, and digitized jukebox. They also have a wine bar upstairs! Interesting for mission and ocean ave. The Excelsior is slowly changing Great place. Check It out

Warning! Please don’t go there, it’s my second time at this place, first experienced was bad! I thought it would be good idea have a drink with my Cuzin, since I was having bad day! I thought it will be nice order Hot Toddy(brandy and hot water) since very very cold. The bartender name Anna just absolutely rude, customer service was horrible, well order our drinks and some food, before our drink were barely drink or the food arrival. She gave us the bill? Is she trying rush out? only 5:30−6pm? Wait may I get another drink or some more food? It was not busy at all, only two people there! I feel like it can be racial thing? it’s Asian worker and Asian owner! I’m dark Latina, not mixed of with any Asian. Very upset! Don’t recommend going there, I will stay at my bar 7mile.

Two bars in one. Downstairs is more sportsbar with a dj booth and jukebox. The upstairs is more winebar with a fireplace. Wine tasting every two weeks.

We found the food to be actually inedible. We tossed it out. The waitress didn’t seem to notice or care that our food was basically untouched. Maybe we will return just for drinks, maybe not.

I’m one of the regulars for the past 10 years. This place just amazes me how well developed and accommodating it has been for the customers. The bartenders are a HUGE factor why I come here. They make sure everyone is pleased and satisfied with food and drinks in their hands. The new wine bar is a creation that caters to many crowds. I’m happy to be able to call this place a family and friends bar. I highly recommend trying this place if you have never been before.

WARNING: stay away from this place. I moved to the excelsior a few months ago, and have been looking for a good bar to hang out in that has a young crowd but wow was this place a disaster. One of the bartenders(an Asian girl) immediately asked if we had been«partying» beforehand and refused to give my friend a drink despite the fact that we had literally not had a drink prior to arriving there. The Asian girl needs to be fired. She is rude, condescending and terrible at customer service. Look I get it, people complain about bars if they wait too long for a drink or are too drunk and have a bad experience; this was just literally the worse customer service I’ve ever had at a bar. Not worth the money or your time. If you want a fun place to hang out in the excelsior, go to the Dark Horse Inn, broken record or Dr Lounge, but stay away from this place. This place looks okay from the outside but it’s the worst option in the excelsior.

If I could give a zero or minus score I would. The owner is a totally unreasonable B_T_H. Based on the love her or hate her reviews, maybe she’s bipolar.

I usually do not write negative reviews unless a place is awful. This place is not just awful but offensive. I thought it might be a fun place to walk to near a friend’s house. So I tried it a couple of times because I really wanted to give it a chance. They charge high prices for disappointing food. The drinks are watered down & taste strange — way over priced! And the final thing that made me give up was the owner seems to be quite biased and rude.(If you are black or gay do not go here.) Some people seem to like her. But I found her to be a little crazy. She picks fights with patrons, especially black ones. She’s even been seen chasing people down the street. So I had to give only one star, because I actually wonder how they make any money. We’ll be going to Broken record or one of the other better bars in the neighborhood from now on.

Bottoms up is conviniently located at a short walking distance from my job! They usually show the latest sports events and the ambience is lively! Pretty excited to see how the second floor turns out after remodeling. As far as snacks go, they have a wide variety of finger foods that range from $ 5-$ 10. Not a bad deal for a decent portion of flavorful appetizers. Not to mention the manager, Shirley, is the best! She will take care of you and make sure everything is copacetic. Easily one of the better bars in the area, if not the Excelsior!

A strange set of occurences led me to Bottom’s Up. I’ve passed by this small neighborhood bar plenty of times, but it never caught my attention enough for me to actually go inside and have some drinks. I was eating at a restaurant nearby one evening and me and my friend were discussing where some nice neighborhood bars are. A lady at the table behind us, I assume was the owner, taps me on the shoulder and tells me that I have to try Bottom’s Up and I won’t be disappointed. A few days later I’m ready to pull the trigger and check it out. Saturday night; place was busy, but not too packed, live DJ spinning, and very nice décor. I walk up to the bar to order drinks. Have you ever had an angel try to sell you alcohol? I folks, have been blessed to say that I have. MaryAnne was incredibly sweet and attentive, and service was very fast even on a busy night which I really appreciated. At that point, she could’ve sold me shots of chilled toilet water with lime juice and I still would’ve drank it. She has a smile and personality that makes you want to order ALOT of alcohol.(In a good way, of course) Woman, Please stop smiling and talking with your sweet delicious words before I die of alcohol poisoning.

From the outside, this place looks great. Sleek tables, long bar, outdoor seating, and quiet upon entry. It’s a different vibe than many of the bars on the street and I like variety in the neighborhood. Double plus bonus, it’s right down the street. Unfortunately, it’s really nothing special. The drinks aren’t particularly spendy or cheap. There are no innovative creations offered. There is a good menu, which is expensive, but somehow still almost offensively bad when it arrives. For example, the«vegetarian» spring rolls included meat and were essentially three taquitos cut in half for $ 8. Not worth it, not even for bar food. Service was slow and inattentive. Televisions were distractingly loud. Go across the street to Hunan or around the way to Broken Record. Both are much better.

I have been going to this place regularly and Bottom’s Up is a great place to have a chill, fun, and amazing night with some music. There’s usually a live DJ on the weekends bumping classics and club bangers(Hip-Hop &EDM). This place is definitely one of my go to bar/lounge in the Excelsior area. I love the venue, there is plenty of tables for seating and standing. Also has out door seating, if you prefer fresh air throughout the night. One great thing about this place is the staff, the bartenders are extremely nice and attentive. One thing in particular that I really enjoy is that fact that even though the bartenders are busy behind the counter, they will not forget to step out and check on the patrons seated at the tables. If you ever happen to feel the need for a drink and in the area, then hit up Bottom’s up and if you’re lucky enough to go at a night when Shirley, Cindy, Ana, or MaryAnne is working then you’ll be taken care of for sure. Also keep in mind that the whole staff is amazing. I’m also very interested in seeing how the upper level lounge will turn out.

Still a fan of this place. Nice spot to go to if you feel like being low-key. Shirley still remembers my bf & I after not coming here for 2 – 3 years, how crazy is that. Chocolate cake shots are still bomb ! :)

My go-to bar in the area — not the fanciest place around(pending remodeling and wine-bar coming soon), but if you’re in the mood for drinks — I recommend Bottom’s Up. It’s always a good time at Bottom’s Up… Affordable pitchers of beer, $ 5 shots during happy hour… I am intrigued to how the wine bar upstairs will turn out.

Stay away from this place They have extremely weak bartenders who make your cocktails very sweet with no alcohol and force you to drink and pay for it when you complain that it’s too sweet and you don’t like it The owner is rude, selfish, and doesn’t care about customer service at all. You are just a dollar sign to her Let’s not support a business like this because you should feel welcomed at a bar not unappreciated Oh yes prepare to surrender you ID when you open a tab since she thinks no one will pay

What a shame. I planned to write this eye opening review about the terrible bar service, and see that others have had a similarly piss poor experience. I met an old friend here for a drink after a long day since the bar was nearby. We were the first patrons, so we ordered drinks and caught up on life. I was digging the convo and she had the good vibes crackin, so I ordered another drink. As we finished the second round, the bartender(who had been pretty friendly when we were the sole patrons) asked us if we wanted more drinks. We said, «No thanks» with smiles. She then was adamant that we quickly close our tab and sign off. Ooookkkkayy. I paid and signed out, but why the rush? I realized a bit later that it may not have been our bartender who was an ass, but rather the head honcho lady who had just shown up minutes before. For the next hour, we were asked by bartenders and servers no fewer than 40 times if we wanted to order more drinks or buy bottled water. When we kept refusing, we were asked to give up our bar seats. We moved to a standing table and were soon asked to give up the table. We gave up the table and were still told we needed(NEEDED) to buy something else as we stood in limbo. I explained politely that we had already spent money in their establishment(roughly $ 40), and we just wanted to enjoy the music and each others’ conversation. This apparently was a problem. At this point, I had the option to cause a scene or write this review. So here you have it. I cannot in good conscience recommend this bar to anyone. Not now. Not ever. This is not how you run a business or treat paying customers once they decide they would rather chill out than get drunk and a DUI. I had great company though. Otherwise I wouldn’t have put up with the bar drama. We bought drinks. We were smiling and having a low key good time. «Why you wanna stick me for my paper?»

Came here the Saturday before Halloween and it was lightweight popping. They played mainly hip hop music during the time I was there and there were a few people dancing on their little stage area. Service wasn’t bad, however they’re too quick in picking up the cups. There were a couple of times where there was still about half an inch of beer left in our cups and they swooped it. They have snacks, but it’s waay overcharged. $ 3 for a small bag of shrimp chips?! Craaaazy! The place itself is pretty dark and loud, basically a club like environment. Don’t think there’s a dress code so you want to go clubbing, but aren’t wearing the right attire, head to bottoms up instead.

Hidden GEM in the middle of the mission? I’m down for that Parking sucks at times. The atmosphere is chill and not really«club» and normally just 3 – 4 people working overall. Drinks are really fairly priced and service is some of the BEST! I think the owner works there too. Keep up the good music and the good drinks and i’ll be back! =D

Bottoms up, bottoms up, up, every single cup Got a couple bottles, but a couple ain’t enough Bottoms up, bottoms up, up, throw your hands up Tell security we ’bout to tear this club up With no live Dj on a weekday, you have a jukebox that charges $ 1 for 2 songs, a modern venue and a small setting. Not the best location, but close to home for others. Food is available from 6p-10p, flat screen tv’s to watch the game. Pay a visit on a weekday its dead, come on a weekend its packed. I happened to come on a Thursday night to watch some football & have some cocktails-status: dead LOL but thats okay because I was here to catch up with a friend. The food we ordered was salty & oily-but what can you expect, your at a bar. Will I be back? umm so call me maybe…
