If you’re a tourist: eat here. San Francisco hearts your money. For everyone else: go somewhere(anywhere) else but Burger Urge. I mean, unless you like paying almost $ 50 for two burgers, two drinks, and one order of curly fries…

Okay, here’s the thing: the food is pretty good. Actually, some of it is amazing; pretty much all of their signature burgers are delicious, and their garlic fries are to die for. Everyone seems to be on the same page about this. So why all the hate? Well, it’s absurdly overpriced, it takes forever to get your food, and the staff is just not helpful. For example, you need to have a key to open the restroom, but every time I’ve asked an employee for the key, they’ll wander off and then reluctantly hand it to me with at least mild annoyance. I know stuff like that is a distraction from your job, but come on. If I’m paying almost $ 20 and am waiting almost 20 minutes for a burger, some fries, and a drink, then at least provide decent customer service.

Ate at 3PM, and as of 10PM haven’t eaten anything else, due to my stomach being messed up. Not worth it in the slightest.

It is just a regular burger as you can find in any place. The restaurant is very pricy for the product they deliver to clients. Also it takes too long to be served. They have the space in the kitchen to serve faster now that their menu is very simple. If you want to have a better quality burger with lower price go to Super Duper or The Melt. Definitely not worth the wait.

A little pricey but what do you expect in the middle of a tourist area. The food was good, the service was quick, the employees were friendly, and they have what seems to be is the only clean bathroom in the area.

1) Way too priced, and not worth for the money paid… $ 18 for a burger? I was looking for caviar in there, but couldn’t find it. 2) Also, they include a 10% tip automatically in the bill, hidden between tax and SF employee mandatory, and than they give you to «sign» — read to leave additional tip. Ridicules… 3) They didn’t give me a receipt. You have to ask for it. NEVERAGAIN!

A little pricey? Yes. Worth the money? Yes. Tried this place on whim one day with some friends, I was originally going to try one of the burgers until I saw the Buffalo Chicken Salad on the menu. Ordered it with a side of the garlic fries(good lord when I die I hope these will be my last meal). The fries and the salad came in LARGE portions(had enough to fill me up and leftovers to take home!) Definitely worth a try if you’re ever in the city. Only downside was how long it took for a SALAD to be ready. My friends and I ordered at the same time– they ordered burgers and those came before my salad did. Didn’t get my salad until AFTER they finished their burgers…

I want to first say that even though I’m giving 2 stars, it wasn’t BAD, just a little below average. I wasn’t sure what to do for dinner, but was walking down Haight street(I try to avoid driving to Haight, I don’t like having to deal with the parking), and had a vague idea that a burger would be good. I took a look on Unilocal and Burger Urge seemed like it would be reasonably priced, even thought it didn’t have the best reviews. I walked in and liked the ambience. TV on the Radio was playing, which put me in a good mood. The rest of the music was a mix of more mainstream, and a little of lesser known artists, mainly rock and pop. The restaurant was about a quarter full, and pretty quiet. There was a fire place, which was a little surprising given that this is a burger place, but it was a nice touch. The waitress at the register was friendly and attentive. I ordered the cheeseburger and regular fries(fries aren’t included). It was just under $ 16, which was more than I had expected, but not a huge deal. After a 5 – 10 min wait the waitress bought my food out. There were a loooot of fries, it was a huge serving. The burger looked pretty good too, except for the beef, which was sort of shiny(with grease). I was excited about the grilled pickles. The burger was sort of difficult to eat, if that makes sense. Maybe it had something to do with the size, but it kept falling apart. And the beef ended up dripping a good bit and making the bun wet, and I had to keep stopping to wipe things up. It also seemed a little rubbery. The taste was just kind of bland, it just lacked a whole lot of flavor. Even the pickles that I’d been so excited about didn’t have much flavor. The fries were better, about average. Nice and crispy and actually tasted like potato. A little less salt than I like, but a table full of condiments was available. Even though the food wasn’t all that good, I ended up eating most of it. I think that’s because I was hoping it would somehow get better, and trying to get my money’s worth. It never happened and I finally gave up. Maybe I was wrong to come for the food, maybe people come here more for the ambience or after drinking. Based on the food, I don’t see myself coming back.

Ordered a patty melt, medium rare, with fries. Food was pretty bland, but filling. Paid a little more as you would expect from a $$ burger place. Not completely sold on this place, but would consider going back to try other menu items.

No longer impressed with this place. The burgers are good but they have gone up in price a lot and are are now overpriced. Also they now charge a 10% service charge!!! For what? This is a fast food burger joint ! One burger with no fries and no drink is over $ 13. Save your money. Lots of other choices for that price.

Still wondering how their substandard offerings generate enough revenue to pay the lease on the prime corner location. I am a SF native and that means I’m an automatic foodie, this place is certified trash as the reviews imply; I can only assume that Midwestern tourists or an underground card room are keeping this place afloat. Cheers!

Girlfriend just went in to grab a burger and fries for us on the way to the beach. Then texts me as she’s waiting to say it was $ 18 for one burger and one side of fries. That’s obscenely over priced for a counter-service burger, even for haight street.

The two stars here are only for the customer service. They were very nice and did their job with a smile. So what’s wrong with this place? Sub par food at prices too high to justify. BF had a burger and I had a pizza. I would never recommend getting pizza here and think they should take it off the menu. It tasted like a frozen cheese pizza what was cooked in the oven and had basil sprinkled over it. Was it? Or was it actually hand made? I’ll never know, but I know it wasn’t good and actually made me sad. The burger was better. It was cooked as we asked it to be and the whole thing was good, albeit a little on the salty side. What gets us is that for a $ 14 burger it didn’t come with anything. No fries, no drink… nothing. I mean it was a good burger but not for that price. I can almost guarantee I won’t be coming back here. The food is mediocre for the most part and over priced.

Short but sweet the Vegetarian burger Patty is deep fried! Not a positive. I will have to try the others before I write a full review.

To Burger Urge So I came here with three people, one of whom I was treating out to eat. I work down the street so I’ve frequently seen their giant lettered sign as I’ve walked past this restaurant. And today was indeed the day I had an urge for burgers. I got a 8oz shake, a double burger(fries not included), chili cheese fries for my friend, and a vitamin water for my sister. If someone can make sense of this receipt for me that would be great. None of the employees would make eye contact with me after the food was paid for. Sincerely, C

A little pricy but, I think the burger was good enough to warrant the $ 10 price tag. It’s the Haight, this is relatively cheap compared to some of the things you’re going to buy here. I wouldn’t come here everyday but it is worth a try. My favorite would have to be the garlic fries, unlike most places that dump a fist full of chopped garlic leaving you with breath strong enough to take out a whole city block, this place takes a relaxed approach. The garlic flavor is there, it’s buttery, but not over powering.

Clean, tasty food, and friendly customer service. I ordered a regular pineapple, and for my patty, medium done. My burger came out juicy and crafted to perfection. Also got garlic fries and it came out right! Garlic was not over whelming. YES, this place might be a bit pricy but it’s not In-N-Out or McD’s. Totally coming back here again :) Note: need extra spending money? They’re looking for hires in the back. Only con, you need to get the condiments yourself. I give 4⁄5 for everything else.
