Stale pastry. I was also given only a half filled cup of coffee… When I asked for a full cup it was then filled up, but when coffee is $ 2.25 for an 8 oz Cup, I expect to get more than 4 oz.

Small place right by Union Square. Doesn’t seem to be a good area of the city for food, but this place was a nice surprise. Had the California Dream(turkey mayo avocado lt honey mustard on sourdough). Cashier misheard my girlfriend’s order and put mayo on her sandwich, but profusely apologized, offered to make a new sandwich, and gave us complementary macaroons. Sandwich was really good, macaroons were delicious. Very reasonable prices for the area, very nice staff. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a good sandwich and don’t want to walk up the hill

Tried to buy a smoothy. Only had a credit card. Was out for a run. $ 10 minimum. LAME!!! It’s 2016 figure out how to run your business with out charge limits. I walked out without my smoothie which I’m sure was already made. I’m sure some poor sap is going to get an hour old smoothie. The 6 people using the tables to take nap did not add to the ambiance either. I ended up at Walgreens around the corner.

My hotel concierge recommended a very pricey breakfast spot, after which I decided to check Unilocal.Café encore was wonderful in every way. Really tasty and fresh food– I had an egg and cheese croissant and coffee. The pricing was also extremely reasonable especially for this area. Last the two people working were very friendly. Welcoming environment. Highly recommend.

It was my first time getting lunch during work in the city and I was nervous about not having enough time since it was Halloween. I called in for a chicken panini and picked it up within 15 minutes. Staff is super friendly and doesn’t rush you when you’re starring at the menu. I would recommend this café to anyone who wants a quick hot sandwich in the area.

Very good place for snacks and or other meals of the day. Extremely convenient when heading into the medical offices if you are a patient or a staff member and with an added bonus of great customer service!

We got here this morning just as a woman was setting the ATM machine up outside the front doors. Despite interrupting her morning set-up, she served us before the place was really supposed to open! We got a Croque Monsieur, a chocolate croissant, and a couple macaroons. The Croque Monsieur was pre-made but toasted up nicely and was very tasty. Actually everything was good. There’s free wifi, that works so much better than my nearby hotel, and I sat for a while getting working done without feeling guilty taking up a seat. Service was great.

I love this café. The people who work here are so nice and the food and drinks are great. I’ve ordered bagel sandwiches a lot from them and they are always fresh and taste really good.

Unless you are desperate, I wouldn’t eat here. Their food tastes old and their salads have warm lettuce. It’s ok if you want to get a plain coffee, but anything else, forget it. I ordered a mocha once with nonfat milk, and they served it to me warm and not with the milk requested. When I told them about it, they didn’t offer me a refund or a redo, just a «oh sorry». Their salads have warm lettuce and their«mustard dressing» is just Dijon mustard squirted on top of the warm lettuce– SOGROSS. Their pastries are ALWAYSBURNED. I tell her«lightly toasted», my bagel comes out black. When you complain that it’s over toasted, they give you an attitude. They are nice to you if you don’t complain and take the warm salad, Luke warm coffee and burned pastry. If you go there when they are busy, then you are lucky if you get what you ordered. I don’t know how this place is still in business.

Cute dainty café located near the blg I was at. I wanted a quick drink or pastry. I got me a strawberry buzz and… i was about to get a strawberry macaroon… but decided not to since my smoothie was a little too expensive. But it’s a cutesy place for sandwiches, salad, coffee and smoothies. They also have pastries and chips and snacks.

The smoothies are very generous in size and they make them with frozen fruit, there are no artificial flavor so or powders.

This place has a great combo of good food/drinks and great service. I usually just get black coffee with milk. And its good and cheap. Today I got crazy and got my coffee AND their bagel salmon = also pretty good. A little heavy on the onions… now at work with onion breath but it was good. Lastly the two guys who work there are always really nice and cracking jokes so it makes the who experience even better! Lastly lastly– i have never encountered a line there!

Went there and order a plan egg and cheese croissant sandwich. It was burnt and tasted really bad. The coffee was meh. I probably wouldn’t go back myself or recommend it to anyone, but I wouldn’t say no if someone wanted to go there.

This place is really small but really cute! The hubster and I ordered a chicken sandwich. It came with pesto, tomatoes and grilled peppers. The chicken was moist and the pesto made the sandwich taste delish. The only ingredient that I totally missed were the grilled peppers! Where were they???

I try to try new coffee shops that aren’t chains(to help the small business out and to try something that’s not Starbucks/La Boulange), so I came here the other day for«coffee» with a friend. I don’t really drink coffee, so my go to drink is a soy chai tea latte. Their chai tea latte was from a box!(instead of steaming milk/soy milk and adding it to the tea mixture) and it tasted only of soy milk instead of chai mixed with soy. I was very disappointed :(. Maybe their other drinks/coffee is better, but for something like chai tea latte, I don’t want to drink it out of a box(if I did, I could buy my own boxed drink and heat it up at home :\)

Café Encore only offers a medium roast and half and half. With so many cafés around, you’d think they’d offer more options. That said, a 12 ounce cup of coffee will only set you back $ 1.70. The place is small, so you’re probably better off ordering to-go than dining in. Service is friendly. You could do worse.

It’s not often you find a nice quiet little hole in the wall coffee shop — these days, everything is Starbucks, Caribou, DD or some other large chain. The staff was friendly enough and the prices were reasonable. I did like the little flaxseed muffins they had on the counter in individual bites. The only thing I was offended about was that the smallest coffee was named the«Jake,» which for obvious reasons and a coffee habit that is far from small, would cross my sensibilities. Hmph! But hey, bravo on a good cup of coffee, otherwise!
