This place should be renamed«Caffe Dry, Hard Bread». There should be a rule that if the name of your business is something you sell, that item should be amazing. It’s straight-up scandalous how much mediocre food surrounds the Financial District. Restaurants in this part of town seem to take advantage of the fact we don’t have much time for lunch and will likely settle for something near our office. I had the ½ sandwich special that comes with either a soup or a salad. The Chicken Focaccia with Gorgonzola and pesto sounded good. In theory this sandwich is amazing, but the reality was quite disappointing kind of like the SF Giants have been lately. Each slice of bread is twice as thick as the chicken. The best part of the sandwich was the cheese because it was the only part that had bite to it. The pesto was green but it needed more garlic and the chicken was kind of bland. I chose the soup over the salad. It was supposed to be vegetable soup but I felt like I was on the cabbage soup diet. The broth was flavorful but all I saw was cabbage and cabbage and cabbage! One time I did scoop up a few kidney beans and a zucchini. This place isn’t pretentious though. I’ll give them that. Their menu is adequately priced. The #9 special that I had was just $ 6.95 and with all that thick bread, it was very filling.

If you grew up on good, authentic pasta, don’t order it here. If you need to satisfy a basic pasta with sauce craving, Caffe Focaccia will do the job. The lasagna is huge. If you like Italian-inspired sandwiches but prefer toasted but still fluffy focaccia bread instead of ciabatti, you’ve come to the right place! Get the chicken pesto sandwich. The chicken is marinated and always flavorful, never dry. Pesto smattered on one slice of focaccia, gorgonzola on the other. The bread is thick, sure, but I love all the bits of green onions so it’s never bland. The meatball sandwich is also a winner with melted cheese. The help is always direct and food comes out fast, so if you work in the area grab a frequent buyer card and collect enough stamps for a free lunch.

I was craving some Italian food. And this little placed satisified my need. The salad was really good. The lasagna was just okay but it was better than a kick in the pants. I want to try some of their other pastas to see what they taste like.

I really enjoyed the half tuna sandwich with chicken noodle soup. The bread they use for their sandwiches is delicious! And their green tea gelato was also very good. If you work close to the Rincon center, I think it’s definitely worth a try.

They have a small stand for the gelato! 4 flavours: green tea, burgundy cherry, dark chocolate and coppa mista. I had the affogato. Yes, I feel like drowning and indulging in the sea of soft, smooth gelato with the sharp contrast of full-bodied espresso. Perfect for a work afternoon when you need a bit of pick-me-up!

I had the chicken noodle soup today and it had someone’s chewing gum in it. I showed the man behind the counter the gum that was initially in my soup and then later in my mouth, but he didn’t believe me. I am totally traumatized and am considering starting a support group for vicitims who have eaten other people’s chewing gum at Caffe Focaccia. I give it one star because it’s still slightly better than Arby’s.

I love sandwiches and focaccia bread. I don’t love 4 very thin slices of processed deli meat with a thin slice of cheese on two slices of 1.3″ high focaccia. I am guessing this place is about it’s bread and not the meat? Okay, that’s a given. The Sandwich is just not cutting it for $ 7.22 including tax. Maybe the pasta is better? I would much rather eat focaccia at Pasta Pomodoro.

A little Italian lunch stand featuring the bread of the same name. I ordered the focaccia con polpette alla salsa, and a diet Pepsi, for $ 8.25. It’s a bigger, hotter, tastier meatball sandwich. Very satisfying. There are salads, and lasagna, and several different types of focaccia sandwiches. They also have a refrigerator full of gelato. There’s a yummy-looking concoction pictured in the window. Two scoops of vanilla ice cream and espresso coffee, which looks like a sundae, for about $ 4.50! I may try it some afternoon.

Not a long wait, but they definitely had some glitches. The now serving number on everyones receipts said #22, but they called the numbers in sync. i.e. my receipt said #22 but the number they called for me was #18, the woman after me was of course #19 and her receipt also said #22, so it was kind of hard for me to figure out if I was picking up the right food. I did, and next time I order a salad there I will ask for the dressing on the side, as the chicken in my salad was almost floating and in serious need of a life preserver.

Pasta, Pasta and more Pasta with a little Gelato after. I got the opportunity to try some pasta and side of salad from this place. I thought it was ok, not great. not something I can compare to Pasta Paradiso(me likes)…left a weird taste in my mouth, both the pasta and salad. The people who work here were nice and polite. I give it to them because I do like nice people and they were helpful. Now I had some was all good from then on. Not much selection, but I wasn’t going to be uptight about it. 3 stars for the workers.

Nothing spectacular, but the half sandwich/salad deal is great. It’s $ 7. My favorite is the grilled eggplant sandwich. Coupled with the full size salad with walnuts, gorgonzola, balsamic, and a singe(always!) cherry tomato, it fills you up. The sandwich and salad each come with their own individual pepperoncino, which is kinda retarded, but whatever. P. S., Rincon Center is like the food court in a dated mall in the Midwest, but filled with independent restaurants and people wearing dress shirts and nice shoes.

I’m not a big fan of the pasta dishes, but they are quite big for the price. I like the house salad with gorgonzola cheese. Yum!

Antonym of Al dente. There really isn’t a ‘great’ choice at Rincon Food court, but try to avoid Café Focaccia. In order to make pasta a ‘fast food’, pre-cooked spaghetti sits next to the hot water. When the order is place, she takes a handful of pasta and throws it into the pot. For budget Italian lunch, I would much rather spend an extra dollar and go to Pasta Paradiso( ) instead. Don’t get me wrong, Pasta Paradiso is no paradise, but it’s better than soft and soggy pasta at Café Focaccia. An EXTRASTAR for having Gelato Classico. They do not have too many flavors, but it’s good to know it’s there if you need it.

«If my co-workers and I are at Rincon for lunch, I’ll usually check out Focaccia for their pasta. I usually don’t find myself getting excited over it, though. The pasta is a pretty good deal– just under $ 6 for your choice of pasta and sauce, and it comes with a piece of focaccia. You can add chicken, sausage, meatball, or eggplant for an additional $ 1.75. The portion sizes are fairly large(enough for lunch and one small meal), but the food isn’t all that flavorful. The focaccia bread isn’t thrilling either, but maybe that is just because I compare all focaccia to Liguria Bakery’s bread.»

Their focaccia sandwiches are a fantastic deal. $ 7 for a huge amount of food — the focaccia itself is thick and tasty, and the toppings have good flavor too. I tried the Italian Sausage, which had a nice light kick to it. I could have used more marinara sauce, but all in all good flavor without being overly messy.

The pasta’s always overcooked, but sometimes their pasta and salad special really hits the spot. You can substitute any salad on their list, and I’m very partial to their sun-dried tomato and walnut one.
