The stars are for the price. Not once did he use the scissors, which was probably safer considering he was watching television during the entire cut.

I’m young, and wanted the hipster, trendy comb over look. Gave him too sets of pictures. I didn’t get what I wanted. He does round out your left side like the previous review. He didn’t keep my top long too, like he said he would. Lack of modern techniques, ingenuity, skill, and insight to the trend nowadays, so I didn’t get a good haircut. Otherwise the Asian guy is nice and friendly.

I’m new to San Francisco and finding a new place can be challenging, especially somewhere that doesn’t break the bank. I’ve gone to the Supercuts and the Sports Clips and so far been bad haircuts, just a normal side part cut, nothing special. So I decided to go to a non corporation and to someone independent. Read other Unilocal reviews with Chakka Cuts and thought I give this place a try. Well I think I found my new place for a haircut and for only $ 25 for a cut and a wash! Thanks Sam!!!

$ 25 Haircut & Wash, you can’t beat that in SF! I have been a regular here for the past year and I never left Chakka Cuts disappointed. Sam is a great guy, and an animal lover(as a matter of fact he raises money for shelters as well). The décor could be improved but honestly what do you need a fancy hair salon for? You’ll end up paying that modern piece of furniture with your next haircut!

I wanted my sides short and trimmed. Got exactly what I wanted. Great haircut for a good price. And Sam was very pleasant. Thanks!

Sam gives a solid haircut at a good price. What more can you ask for? That’s right, Game of Thrones and family guy constantly playing on the TV.

The past two times I’ve gone he’s asked what I thought of ABORTION, while cutting my hair! Then proceeded to go on an anti choice rant about how bad things will happen if you or your mate get an abortion. Sounds crazy but this is completely true. Terrible. Awkward. I’m never going back again.

First, let me say that Sam, the gentleman who cut my hair, could not be nicer. He’s super sweet and friendly, as were the other clients who came in after me right before closing time. I even stayed around an extra 15 minutes after getting my hair cut just to chat while they got their hair cut or waited. So, 500 stars for them! And the shop, though no-frills, was super cute with bold colored paint on the wall. And cut, wash and dry is $ 18, so there’s value. Sam also gets brownie points because he *did* warn me that, «I don’t work with too many women’s hairs… they take more time,» as I sat in the chair. Red flag. Which I ignored. Anyhoo, despite the«long time,» I think he finished cut, wash and blow-dry-in that order, which I found off-putting-in less than 15 minutes. I wanted a trim to clean up split ends on my relatively long hair and even out my layers and bangs. Ended up looking a little mullety. A man came and said, «Her hair looks FABuloooous! I want my hair to look like that. Oh. Wait-it did 25 years ago!» Hahaha. Actually, once I got home and styled it myself, it looked okay. But I was alarmed by the execution of the hair washing(lukewarm soapy water running down my sweater) and blow-drying(an aggressive towel rubbing that roughed things up with a haphazard shake of the blow-dryer. It done got did get dry, but my bangs were split in the middle down my forehead and hovered lightly like antennae and everything else was flat. No round brush in sight. Boo. If I were a man, or returned to my days of pixie cuts and faux hawks, or didn’t care about feeling *slightly* pampered and glamorous, I would come here. For the moment, I recommend ladies who want comparable pricing with better lady results, go to Lisa’s Hair Design down the street.

Terrible cut. Some of my first words to Sam(?) were«I like my hair short on the sides, long on the top, with a high fade.» I trusted he knew what he was doing when he asked what size I wanted my sides, but then I saw he completely ignored the«high fade» part and rounded my hair on my left side instead. I repeated myself by saying«I like a high fade.» but it seemed he still didn’t get any clue and instead actually left my right side as is. Then he proceeded to thin my hair with these specific pair of scissors(sorry I don’t remember what the exact name for them is) without even asking if it’s what I wanted. He would’ve continued to chop the top of my hair off if I didn’t tell him I wanted to top left as is when he threw suggestions for how much to cut off. He was a nice guy but I had to request to even out my right side of my hair after he thought he was done, and your work should speak for itself– not niceness. Even after leaving the salon, I noticed he totally missed evening out more on the right, back side of my hair and so now it’s left longer than the other side. I’ve had many salon experiences, and this was definitely one of the mediocre/bad ones, because as a hair dresser you should listen to your clients and how they want it, if they tell you. Leaving it up to you to decide is a different story. Didn’t receive the haircut I wanted and felt it was rushed. Way too crappy of a cut and experience for $ 25

I went and gave this barber a shot since there were so many great reviews on Unilocal. He did a great job and he and the other person working were incredibly friendly and inviting. I left really liking my haircut and decided to go back for a second time. Unfortunately they open at 12:30 on most days and I needed a haircut before noon. This place was is a great, inexpensive, no frills, barbershop.

Pros: –nice guy –shampoo comes with cut –good price($ 21) Cons: –strange décor –sloppy haircut –rushed haircut If you want a very quick, basic cut at a good price this is your guy. However, if you want any cut that requires any kind of technical skill, like a fade, stay away. I just got the sloppiest fade of my life here. He also tapered only one side of the back of my neck so now the back of my neck looks totally lopsided and I had to have a friend fix it for me. If you’re wondering why he has so many 5 star reviews, it’s because he asks his customer to give him 5 stars on Unilocal

Ladies and gentlemen, the reviews speak the truth! Short story: I was happier with this cut than with any previous cut in the city. And I’ve been to Oxenrose, FSC Barbershop, JP Kempt, and Every 6 Weeks. Read on for context and additional details… I went to Chakka Cuts today for a haircut and couldn’t be happier. I dropped by to see if I could make an appointment — not even sure this can be done — and saw that only one person was waiting to get his haircut, so I decided to stick around to get mine. Sam is exactly what I was looking for in a stylist — he was curious, attentive, and pleasant. Before we began, he asked me questions about how I wanted my haircut. And he agreed to cut my hair in phases until I thought it was just right. I was astonished. In my experience, stylists or barbers ask you what you want at the start of the appointment, and then dive in, leaving you at the end with a cut that you may or may not like since they didn’t let you adjust along the way. Sam was careful and gradual. Somehow he was able to do all of this while still being relatively quick, which in my case was roughly 30 minutes, and I have short hair. I was concerned reading the reviews that his speed would compromise quality, but I promise you it didn’t. I’ve never been so pleased with a haircut in SF, and at such an affordable price, I truly am happy! Lastly, Sam really creates a relaxing, casual atmosphere. Since he is the only stylist, the shop feels very calm, enabling him to focus on the haircut and to entertain with interesting theories about Jon Snow’s lineage on Game of Thrones. I’m definitely coming back here for my future haircuts!

I was perusing FB yesterday and saw that Chakka Cuts was doing a Sunday benefit for one of my favorite organizations, Muttville Senior Dog Rescue. I needed a haircut so off I went. I should say I have short very very curly hair that seems to strike fear into the heart of many stylists. No problem for Sam, though! He gave me a great cut at an incredible price. I loved the post cut shampoo and Sam stopped throughout the cut to get input. I got to meet Sam’s partner, David too. Both very lovely guys. All in all a very relaxing experience with a great result. I will be back!

Recently moved to SF from NYC– my hair was getting kinda out of control, so it was time for a cut. And wow am I glad I went to Chakka! First off, I typically work 7:00AM to 6:00PM, so the fact that this place was open is a HUGE plus for anyone who works during the week. More importantly, I have to say that this this was totally one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. Sam was awesome. He was very attentive to my preferences, but also had some creative suggestions. He was a lot of fun to talk to and we had a great conversation. When he offered me a «happy ending» I couldn’t refuse! I’ve definitely found my new salon in SF and I can’t wait to go back!

I think I’ve just found my go-to barber in SF. Wow. I love the vibe of the place, Sam, the«happy ending», and most of all, my haircut! I look baller as hell.(In less than 30 minutes, too!) Thanks Sam!

Sam Chakkapark, Has been cutting, My hair Since 1990, that’s 23 years! Sams shop is wonderful! You can watch TV on a flat screen or listen to Music! Plus after all these years I don’t have to open my mouth and tell him what I want because he just knows it always does a wonderful job on my hair!!! Thank you Sam! Walter Weir

This is THE best place to get a haircut ever! First off, Sam knows what he’s doing. I am very particular about my hair, after having had plenty of terrible haircuts at places that were supposed to be good. Let me just say that he gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. Second, he’s really fun to talk. Since I’m new to the city, he gave me all sorts of great advice on how to meet people and the time just flew by. Third, his haircuts are very affordable. I never would have expected to receive such quality care for such a reasonable price. This is especially nice because it leaves lots of room for you to tip how you feel. Lastly, Sam finishes your haircut with a «happy ending», where he washes your hair under the sink. This feels awesome, especially since you don’t have to go home with itchy pieces of hair all over your head, and you just feel nice and clean.

I still cannot believe what an amazing price and quality of haircut I got from Chakka Cuts last Friday. I went to Chakka Cuts as a walk-in customer with absolutely no expectation. Sam was very nice and asked me what kind of haircut I would like. Being a low-maintenance and carefree person as I was, I simply told him«You can cut whatever, and whichever way you want, that will make me look good… just don’t cut off my head». He giggled and told me the kind of haircut that would suit my look and facial structure. After he finished, I was simply amazed by the result… and the bill! It was very inexpensive, and seriously, I think I looked pretty damn hott(the two tts are intentional) compared to when I first walked in there. It definitely was not an average haircut; I used to get a haircut where every part seemed«too even», but this was not one of them. Sam knew exactly which part of my hair that should be shorter/longer/thicker/thinner, and how I should style it to make me look the best. The first thing that I did after I left was to take a picture of myself to post it on Facebook. Needless to say, I got so many«likes» and surprising compliments from people who barely talked to me(and some of them I don’t even know are my «friends»), which confirmed the fact that I was not hallucinating when I said I looked«hott». It almost felt like I went through some sort of a oh-so-amazing makover reality show, in the form of an inexpensive barber/salon. Gosh, I’m feeling so confident(borderline cocky) now thanks to Sam!

Being new to San Francisco, I had to find my new go-to hairdresser. When I found out that getting a haircut in this city was at least $ 20, I wanted to cry because I am a broke college student; so, I just went with the salon with the best price and best reviews, which happened to be Chakka Cuts, and I am really glad this is the place I chose. Sam is a really friendly guy, he did a great job on my hair, and he works fast! It usually takes an hour for me to get a haircut, but Sam did it in twenty minutes! I also brought my friend with me so that we could get our haircut together and even he liked Sam’s haircutting skills, which definitely says a lot. What I love most is the fact that Sam washed and shampooed my hair after cutting it because I didn’t have to shed all the way to the Muni station :) Overall, it was worth the $ 18, and Sam is definitely my new go-to hairdresser for as long as I’m in San Francisco.
