I went by here the other day craving some dim sum, and found the place closed and undergoing renovations for something called«Wasabi Bistro». While the food wasn’t the highest quality, it was quick, cheap and the lady’s were super friendly always stuffing the cartons to the max or giving you an extra piece of dim sum. I hope it comes back, we don’t have any other quick and cheap asian offerings in the neighborhood to cure those hangovers.

It’s ok in a pinch, but unless you’re a fan of salt… I’d stay away If it were up to the ladies that work here, I’d give it a 5 star. They’re really sweet

My lady and I stumbled on this place and stuck to the dim sum, it was good for the extremely cheap price, and didn’t taste super rubbery like it had been sitting out too long. The rest of the food looked dry and unappetizing, so we passed. The older lady who owns it is Chinatown through and through, I don’t know why anyone would expect friendly service from them.

So the chow fun is decent, and the egg foo yuen is better — But if the service was any colder, you’d need to serve up a sweater. ______ You’ll get staple Americanized Chinese food to go. And you’ll be happy to leave. Trust that son. btw: You can not look them up on the dpt of health’s site which is a scary sign. Hmmm.

Unimpressive dim sum. Nice ladies, but bland dumplings. Footnote: Do not dismiss this due to my minimal word count. My review speaks truth.

Temporarily closed down by the Board of Health AGAIN! First time was about a year ago I think. The place is empty with a BOH notice in the window citing VERMININFESTATION !!! Same as last time.

good american style chinese. great dim sum. the quality of food is great here. the ingredients are fresh, and while it’s a hot table place, the food hasn’t been sitting forever. i like less americanized chinese better, but for what it is, this place is good. the real reason i like this place is that it has dim sum. not a huge selection like a dim sum restaurant, but it has sticky rice, shumai, beef meatballs, sesame balls, steamed pork buns, and more. all stuff i like as a snack while running errands. just right. happy heart.

Really bad service, so bad that I did not even order the food. I ordered wonton noodle soup to the lady working at the counter. She asked«BBQ pork or chicken?». I was a bit confused, does the wonton have BBQ pork or chicken inside? So I asked, «it is 4.50 $ for the wonton noodle soup according to the the menu(which does not mention BBQ pork or chicken at the noodle soup part), right?» The lady did not understand, saying«you can choose with or without BBQ pork and chicken». ME: «So the BBQ pork is a side dish?» Lady(starting to shout at me): «Yes» ME: «So with or without the side dish, it is the same price?» Lady(still shouting): «Yes, but you need to choose BBQ pork or chicken.» Unable to understand the menu and the lady’s explanation, I left. From the beginning at our conversation, the lady already seemed a little angry for no reason. Throughout our conversation, the lady at the counter kept talking to me in a way like she’s the landlady and I’m the tennant who owed her the rent. Until now, I still don’t quite understand why the wonton noodle has to come with a side order. And I don’t want to know because I do not want to get involved into some meaningless argument again.

Hubba hubba, who is that FINE asian boy working behind the counter now? Damn he is by far one of the hottest Asian-American men I’ve ever seen, he is just so effing CUTTTEE !! Anyway, the food is good.

Ok — I am all about writing reviews that take into account the price-point of the restaurant. So, when I go to Masa’s or Jardinière — the bar is set a bit higher. That said — even for a hot dog stand, I expect the food to be clean, and for the person behind the counter to not be mean. So — while the ladies behind the counter here are reasonably nice, the cleanliness of the food is highly questionable. The last time I walked by the restaurant, I saw a dead rat outside the doors. My question was — did the rat die by consuming the food inside? Was it attempting to escape? Who knows? I’m not going back to find out.

I HAVEJUSTRECOVEREDFROMTHEWORSTFOODPOISONING I DON’T EVENWANTTOGIVETHISPLACE1STAR!!! I went here early Friday night after not eating all day, about 2am i woke myself up vomiting. I spent the entire night emptying my body of everything, at one point i thought my internal organs were going to fly out(I make joke of this now but i promise you at the time it was far from a laughing matter in my book). I could not hold anything down and my body did not want for anything to be inside me including my stomach lining. The pain and constant vomiting was unreal, I thought i was going to die. The constant vomiting was making it extremely difficult to breath as my body was stopping me form taking in breaths. I was unable to sleep all night due to my body uncontrollably shaking and vomiting, I eventually fell asleep the next morning. I had the worst fever and had to spend the rest of the weekend in Bed, luckily I had someone to help me out. It is now Wednesday and i feel better. I am now able to eat again, for many days i found it hard to even hold down a sip of water!!! I am so angry with this place!!! I feel helpless in what to do. I am not a person who likes to fight but boy would i like to kick there arse and let them experience a fraction of the pain i endured at there hands!!! They physically hurt me, made me bed bound for several days, cost me a fortune in medicine and made me incapable of going to work which also cost me money!!! Not to mention i had also organised an event on the Sunday which comprised of many different people coming from all over which has taken many weeks to organise and because of you had to be cancelled and has to be re-organised for another weekend, and no this was not a walk in the park with grandma on a friging Sunday, without going into to much detail about my personal life It involved camera crews etc etc(I think you get the picture), yet again more money wasted on your behalf… Thank you Very much. Your shite food cost me a bloody fortune i can tell you I am trying to cast my mind back as to what point it was when I walked into your establishment did i ask for all of this or was this a special offer you had on that evening that you failed to inform me off!!! I hope by me writing this that it hurts your business… You should not be allowed to serve food and I hope your Business fails!!! BEWARNEDTHISISNOTTHELASTYOUWILLHEAROFME!!! I will be seeing you personally later this week so be prepared and if you have not read this yet don’t worry i will be bringing a print out of this with me so i can see the look on your face when you realise that this review wil be available online for everyone to read and you can confront me personally and inform as to why you feel my writing of this review is possibly unfair!!! I really cannot wait to here what you got to say. Sorry might be a start…

G R O S S but C H E A P They are catering to the hungry Castro drunks. Flavorless broccoli beef, sweet and spicy pork with the consistency of rolled up cardboard… Will not return unless very hungry and very drunk. One star for being cheap, another star for fast/friendly service.

*facepalm* This is Chinese food? Just because you put Chinese people in the place, and Chinese characters on the menu, doesn’t make it so. Talk about greasy spoon… and *not* in the good way of an American Diner, but more of a OMGIfeelsicktomystomach kind of way. This is dim sum?! Rice paper is only as good as you make it.(Or in this case, they ruin it with excess grease, after letting it sit in water for way too long.) Overpriced. Low quality. Terrible service. And lack of seating.(Then again, I suppose if you’re drunk, the floor is fine too or maybe the sidewalk outside.) And did I mention, overpriced?! I have sawdust in a jar of fatty drippings that would taste better. I gave this place two chances, and I’m not willing to push it for a 3rd time, and there are better places… on Church!

I really WANT to like this place because it’s cheap and close to me and they are very nice… but 2 out of 3 times I have gotten migraines(tons of MSG likely) and once I got very unhappy belly syndrom(VUBS) in the morning. The dim sum choices are pretty sub-par. In general, I’d stick with the counter items, but the noodle specials are pretty good(curry chow fun and singapore noodles.) Beware of the seafood. I understand it’s not gourmet, but I cannot in my right mind justify more than 2 stars for something that’s made me feel so icky. I’ll probably end up there in a pinch or when drunk, but otherwise I would not chose to eat here.

This place is pretty cool. I like the food. It’s just what I want for affordable and fast Chinese! I wouldn’t recommend eating in there(although I do it), because the seating is really not that comfortable. I like the steamed dumplings a lot! Singapore noodle dish is my favorite — fried rice noodles with different meats in it!

I’m glad this place is here. I mean, there are lots of Asian restaurants in the Castro, but they’re mostly Thai. Actually, that’s pretty okay by me too. Especially the one next to Badlands because the one waiter with the nice smile and the armband tattoo and… … wait… I digress… I’m glad Chinese Dim Sum is here because it’s a nice pop-in-pop-out takeout place. The food is what it is. Decent. Not amazing. They have some nice selections if you order, avoiding the steamtable, which is always the right thing to do. The har gao were decent, the wor wonton soup more than decent. Definitely a decent compromise between a sitdown restaurant and grabbing a powerbar at the Walgreen’s.

Walking through the Castro craving a burger on a Saturday afternoon when I am yanked away from my craving on a spontaneous leap of faith into a fall Chinese food place.(I have a weakness for pot stickers, it has a high win percentage) The food definitely had not been freshly made although it did not lack for flavor. The generals chicken had a little kick and was good. BBQ pork also pretty good, pot stickers hit the spot as usual although nothing special, but if I return again I will order a giant order of chicken chow mien.

I’m really not much of a Chinese food fan — mainly because my body doesn’t deal well with large amounts of salt and fat(as it should). However, I can often enjoy it in small doses, which is why I’m glad to have discovered this little joint. They sell in 3 different sizes, including a ½ pint size, which is perfect! Just a little personal 1-serving size box of goodies. I got half pints of the cooked mixed vegetables($ 2) and general [tso’s] chicken(~$ 3). The vegetables consisted primarily of cabbage and broccoli in broth, though luckily I like cabbage; the chicken was tasty and spicy but had an odd vinegar/alcohol-like aftertaste. It’s not a restaurant, but the casual cafeteria-style Chinese biz where you pick out what you want and they pack it up for you. There are a few seats facing the walls though, which I took advantage of due to being famished. Great for grabbing some cheap grub to go.

Yes, I realize there is already a Unilocal listing for this address. But it’s for All Season Sushi, and in my book, if you share the same space but have a completely different name and food offering, you get a new Unilocal. With that out of the way… It’s your standard multi-selection out of line joint, but rare, and perhaps I’m not looking hard enough, they had steamed dumplings. Mmmm. And healthy. And cheap.
