Came here after the Giants v Dodgers game on Saturday. Go LA! We just had a drink and dessert at the bar. The bartender was so funny and was very personable. We were there for about an hour or so. Our bartender ended up leaving and he didn’t say bye. We were low key butthurt lol. Overall it’s a nice place. Kinda dark, and narrow. Didn’t try their dinners but they looked great. Pretty pricey though.

As a native San Franciscan, I don’t go to Union Square to eat very often… but, when I do — It’s usually Daily Grill. Although it is connected to a hotel, it’s just off the beaten path enough so that it’s not overcrowded. They’ve got a pretty standard American comfort food menu(which is nothing short of delicious), and a full bar. The staff is always pleasant and makes sure to greet you within a couple seconds of walking in. P. S. I’m a huge fan of a good Kentucky Mule — and let me just say — Mike makes them the best. If you happen to be around downtown SF, definitely stop in have him make you one!

Great spot to stop in and grab a pint and a bite. Service is fantastic. Look for Mike when you’re in there, he’s awesome and took care of us really well! Great service, great food, great drinks. What more could you ask for?

I visited the Daily Grill with friends visiting from Boston who were staying at a nearby hotel. We had a the famous Pot Pie — which was recommended by the bartender, and a really good drink called Strawberry Sunset. The bartender Michael was very nice and gave us great recommendations on things to do in SF. We will be back for sure!

Always walk by this spot and me and the wife decided to come in for a drink. Glad we did, mike the bartender was awesome and took care of us. Also grabbed some food, the chicken pot pie was bomb. We’re definitely coming back and it’s close to theaters and union square

Formerly one of my favorite places to eat. Today when I arrived to a vey quiet and not super busy restaurant, after I waited at the empty kiosk(for a minute or two) I was told I couldn’t get a table because dinner starts at 4:15 and they are switching over. Not sure what that means or why I can’t get a table and eat. There were several people in total dining in the restaurant portion They did offer to have me sit at the bar but frankly I don’t want to. And I don’t agree with not being able to sit in the restaurant portion of a Restaurant during posted business hours. So I let her know«no thanks» and I left. For disclosure a few visits back a very rude staffer would only allow me to be seated in between two tightly arranged«two top» tables where loud conversations and babies were involved. Despite dozens and dozens of empty tables Everywhere I was told I could sit there or leave. Thankfully management got involved which was appreciated. The girl working today was very polite, but I really don’t understand why a place with dozens and dozens of tables has so many inflexible rules about where people can sit. When I go out to eat I want to sit in a restaurant and enjoy my meal. I want to sit comfortably and do it my way. Not sure why they do business this way but I’m gonna have to stop bringing friends and clients here.

Overpriced for mediocre food. Also the service here is at snail pace. Wanted the low fat yogurt and berries @$ 7 something but was charged separately $ 4 yogurt and $ 5 bowl of strawberries. Ordered 2 mushroom and onion omlette but got 1 and the other had spinach needless to say i didnt leave tip… and am sure to never come back… there are better options, disregard convenience if you’re staying at the handerly hotel. Also the waitress was incompetent.

Horrible service. Waited an hour for our food. No apologies no checking up on us. No refill of water and soda. No rush on our food. Probably the worst service I have ever had. I work at a hotel next door and I rather send clients elsewhere. Spoke with the young lady and she had an excuse. I’m in the service industry really. Maybe hire more staff or have someone that has good work ethics. I wish the manager would contact me in regards to this or the General Manager. I’m still here waiting and still no food. We’ll finally they came over stated that the system was now working and they lost our ticket for food. 1 hour plus waiting finally food came out but had to get it to go and an apology from a manager but the guy that took the order at the bar no apologies. Food was comped but they forgot my fries. Yeah don’t need to go there again.

This place holds so many delicious memories for me, but in recent visits, can’t seem to spark up the same magic it once held. The food still knocks it out of the park and the service is usually great, however, it is the little things have gone to the wayside: no more Grasshopper cocktails(which used to be perfect), the dessert coffee was served cold, and more than once our party was overlooked as we tried to get the check since we were trying to get to a play on time. Plus, prices have gone up, making a once very affordable and classy date spot not a go-to option. I believe in you, Daily Grill, but I miss the old you.

My kind of joint, not the rolled kind but you get my jist… the short ribs are right up my alley and the whiskey options suite my pallet.

Nice break in the hectic of downtown San Francisco. Great seating with boxes for a little bit more if a privacy but no walls. My favorite food is the Chop Burger with fries. Comes rare or medium in a perfect quality! I went the four times in a week. Even under time pressure the service was great. I like the 21st department local IPA. The chicken breast was also great. Price value is good for downtown.

The food quality of my sashimi was good enough — just had to wait 35 min after ordering. As there are a total of maybe a dozen people in entire place it seems to be not due to volume of orders. Ahi isn’t belly quality but very fresh and large sized appetizer serving. The pickled cucumbers are exquisitely delicious!

Jesse was AWESOME!!! Was able to go into details about the menu and give us some pointers about the city since this was our first visit to San Fran. The food was incredible!!! Full of flavor and so tasty! Would recommend this place to anyone. Although it make look fancy as you walk up to it, don’t let the outside fancy look think you need to be dressed up. Although it is slightly fancier, they will take you as you are.

We came here for dinner tonight as it’s conveniently connected to our hotel. The hostess and our waiter were very friendly but the place was a bit dark. I had a wonderful glass of Albertino cabernet to go with my chicken parm. Unfortunately, the pasta was piping hot and scalded my mouth(thought I was eating lava!) and the chicken was burnt on one side. They were redeemed by the scratch key lime pie with a flaky short buttery crust. The filling was perfectly tart sweet and creamy. My brother had the tasteless fish and chips; need lots of tartar sauce and malt vinegar to get some flavour in that fish.

Good but very touristy and overpriced. We both had the blue cheese crusted filet which was disappointing for the price and executed badly. But the service was good and the wine menu was reasonably priced. We had a great pinot noir from Marlborough. Good service, easy reservations online.

We always stop at the Daily Grill when we’re in town. Not too far from Union Square. Good happy hour apps — calamari is solid — and generous wine pours. Skirt steak has a great marinade. Mac and cheese is super rich — highly recommend it. Chicken pot pie tasty, but nothing you can’t find anywhere else — however it is a huge portion. They always have Sierra Nevada and Anchor Steam on tap.

We came here for our friends birthday. We had a party of 10 people. When we first walked in it had a really strong unpleasant oder. It smelled like a wet mop or sewage. It was really strong and don’t know how people don’t complain. With that said, the food was actually really good. I had the filet mignon and shrimp. The server we had seem to had a attitude. She didn’t smile once and it was hard to find her at times. When I order the 3 course meal she didn’t ask me what I wanted for my first Course until I ask her after my friend ordered. Maybe it’s just our server, but this seems like a nice restaurant but why was the service so mediocre. This restaurants clientele seems to older(40s-50s) and maybe because we were younger(20s-30s) she didn’t want to serve us. Will likely not be back, too many nice restaurant with good service I could go instead.

The Daily Grill is going for that old school retro classy vibe, and it does pull this off aesthetic quite nicely. It has a refined art deco/midcentury look with big lush leather booths and a heavy wood bar anchoring the front of the restaurant. The food is good — and the menu is stocked with classic dishes. Meat and potatoes rule the roost, but I opted for the fried chicken sandwich special on a recent lunch visit. The sandwich was tasty and the chicken crunchy. The accompanying lentil soup(a $ 3 upgrade from the special price of around $ 14.50), was tasty, but a bit on the sweet side. My date went for the skirt steak, and enjoyed it. The one complaint is that service dragged quite a bit — which can be a real problem during the lunch shift when you need to get back to work. I would not recommend coming for a quick meal if you are in a hurry.
