Love the turkey panini sandwich! This is a great place to go for a quick bite in a neighborhood that isn’t so great. It’s clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is terrific. My coworkers also frequent this establishment and find it quite appetizing. Being a turkey junkie, I stick with the tried and true! Great job!

The interior looks really modern and well-designed to a point where I expected to see a sock-head hipster with a beard behind the counter. I was pleasantly surprised to find 2 very un-hipster women behind the counter. Asked for OJ and loved that she juiced fresh OJ right in front of me. Husband & I shared a Salvadorian style chicken tamale. I wouldn’t know the different between Salvadorian vs Mexican vs any other country, but it was good.

I’m a breakfast meat-in-sandwich lover. Imagine my surprise when I went for my last choice croissant egg sandwich and loved it. I was skeptical about it being pre-made, but the sandwich press they warm it in makes it warm and a little toasty. It’s a medium size croissant(not a hulk like lee’s), with two well seasoned fried eggs and Swiss cheese. The egg yolks are creamy, the cheese melty. This is my go to for a solid breakfast sandwich. Don’t drink coffee so can’t comment on that. They also have parfaits and a variety of chilled drinks. It seems like a family run affair and the workers are nice. Really hope this place sticks around.

Time: 9:17am/66°F mostly cloudy Purpose: Driving along TL area checking to see what accounts are available for early meeting. Then tune on radio and breaking news of another Malaysia flight crash, shot down. Pull over to curb and listen for about 10 minutes, too much for me needed cuppa joe. Ambiance: Sure it has the looks of these new 3rd wave places and all. 4 – 5 tables on floor top with flower vase silk faux flowers. 6 – 7 wooden counter seating facing wall or seedy Golden Gate street. Various music blasting from tower speakers. One display cold case for perishable eats and items that needs continuous refrigeration. One 3 tier acrylic pastry display case next to cashier. The back a grinder, drip machine, bags of whole beans, tea boxes, sink, paper towel dispenser, bottles. of syrups. Utensil cart for self service needs along with trashcans of green, black, and blue. Staff: Not trained to be working there at all. Not being mean or anything but from the time I walk in the girl was doing things on her phone. At least 2 minutes went by before she notice me. She smile as she pops up from underneath counter with red sweater fix in lace strings exposing her cleavage. I’m not amuse as I’m not there for that purpose. I said give me a minute and she stood there like a tree stump looking at me til I make the order and left. Certainly not a multitasker in my books, at least do some work then come back to me. Bartenders that I’ve known can wipe counter, answer phone, and ring up customers. Here it’s so boring that they wish any customer would talk to them just to kill time faster. Cleanliness: Grade A, clean no complaints can’t get any cleaner for a café. Eats/Drinks: Large drip $ 2.50 and a everything bagel $ 1.50. Coffee wasn’t even strong or near that, it was flat bland like 75% water/25% coffee. Later I turn around and ask what brand do they use. Girl answers San Francisco Organics blend, go figure like the kind from Cost Plus Market. Bagel was deliver to them by a local company so mark up was higher than bagel places that makes them. Since it was so plain tasting I wanted to ask for some butter or cream cheese. Saw the menu butter $.50¢ and cream cheese $ 1 extra. I kept quiet sitting there looking like a kid in corner of classroom with dunce hat on. I ask if they do pour over coffee. She tells me to wait a minute went to ask the guy. Both came back ask me what’s pour over, now I know I’m in troubleville. Regret stepping in here! Products/Services: breakfast, pastries/danishes, daily press, panini, salads, coffee, combos, loyalty card, happy hour, Wi-Fi with purchase, hot/cold drinks, yogurt, fruits, granola. Punch Lines: Nice clean place, no pour overs, staff not too engaged with work, seedy TL area, street parking, standard store bought drinks, blasting music randomly, stares like a hawk, construction up the street, outsourced baked goods, premade sandwiches, no side walk seating, no restrooms. Tradeoffs: Looks can be deceiving as in this case it totally was. You’ll do much better at a 7 – 11 at least you get a chance to smell the hot dog/sausages while waiting in line for cashier. Final Thoughts: Don’t get fool by the looks of this place, most items are so standard that you won’t notice from the outside. Once you walk in and see boxes of Stash tea, outsource baked goods, Crystal Geyser bottle water, Vita Coconut water, SF oragic blend. Wi-Fi with purchase, music didn’t even match the scenery, disengage staff. It’s a good set up just didn’t have the right workers and items to qualify as hipster joint. And believe me hipster will know if it’s the place for them. Wanted to take couple of pics without being notice and girl stands there with eyes staring. I try to skip the pictures my mind said no, one shot is all I can manage, with shaking hands, nervous. There’s not much going on here in terms of coffee and eats. Everything here can be had at your local neighborhood corner store. Premade sandwiches with aioli pesto drenching the bread really kills it for me on this place.

My co-worker stumbled upon the newly-opened Daily Press recently and showed me the turkey panini she picked up there. The sandwich looked delicious, so I made an effort to check it out in the next time I was in need of lunch. The coffee shop/café is situated near long-established TL sandwich joints Morty’s(across the street) and La Petite(next door), so it was challenging for me to pass up these established eateries for the new kid on the block. However, new kids need friends, so I ventured in to check out the place my co-worker recommended. I was greeted by the friendly staff(a little on the aggressive side, but friendly nevertheless). Like my co-worker, I opted for the turkey panini. The panini bread was really delicious, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. The panini was STUFFED with generous amounts of turkey, lettuce, tomato, pesto, and mozzarella. A little on the pricey side for a sandwich – $ 8.75, however, it was very large, and I could have easily made two meals out of it. Also, the owner gave me a discount for stopping by. So that was nice. Also, they have a coffee punch card… purchase 6 drinks and get the 7th one free. Welcome to the neighborhood Daily Press. Will stop by again in the future.

This place literally just opened about a week ago, and I happened to stumble upon it. The staff was friendly and offered me free coffee to sample. It was good. I will definitely return to try out their other drinks and food offerings. Good luck with the new business!
