Danny’s Cleaners

I’ve been a regular customer, until my light blue shirt came back with visible contrasting spots on the collar and cuffs (where there’s a double layer of fabric). Since the shirt was expensive ($ 180), and the spots were very visible, I asked if I can talk to the manager, and was told to come another day. When I was back in several days, they tried to «remove» the spots, and ripped the collar (there’s a ¹⁄₃ inch hole through 3 layers of fabric). First an employee lied to me saying that that’s how it was originally, and then a manager told me a hole appeared «because the fabric warms up», and it was my problem, not theirs. After these lies, BS, and no word about compensation, I’m not going back, and suggest you don’t either. Horrible experience!

I just came back from picking up my new suit pants that on my very first day wearing them I tore a big hole in them. They did such a fantastic job repairing them.
Still the same great service I get every time I go in for 7 years now. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Expensive for cleaning shirts. I had some things came back with stains and they tried to tell me I brought it in that way. They also have a TERRIBLE POLICY of quoting you a price and changing it when you pick up because some of the dress shirts were ‘special’ and cost more to clean and press?! I had a repair done to a towel and brought back as the job so so poorly done. After arguing with the woman she finally fixed it properly, which turned out to be fast and did it while I was there.
I went because they were SO close, but no more! I value my happiness more than the convenience.

They are very close to my house, so I tried them out.
Cleaning was adequate, but the lady was a short-​sighted business woman as she was surly and clearly could not have cared less to have me as a continuing customer.
So now I walk 4 blocks to the just-​as-​good SF Crown Cleaners where they are cheerful, say a welcoming «hello» when I walk in the door, and make me feel as though they care about my business.

We just moved to the neighborhood and were thrilled to have a dry cleaner right around the corner. Until we tried Danny’s.
In the course of cleaning a brand-​new sweater, they managed to rip a hole in the seam of the neck. I discovered this as soon as I got home, so I went back to show it to them. The woman at the counter was completely unapologetic. She didn’t deny that they created the hole, but she assured me it wasn’t «a dry-​cleaning problem.» What a relief, eh? She claims the sweater was poorly made and called it a manufacturing problem. If I can wear the sweater without ripping it, shouldn’t they be able to dry clean it without tearing it?
I definitely won’t be going back. I don’t mind paying top dollar for a great dry cleaner, but not to have my clothes ruined.

Good service and turnaround time, but expensive at 2.20 $ a shirt for wash and iron.

I waited a while to write this review as I thought I might not be fair, overcome as I was by a seething cloud of anger. But time has passed and I’m still just as mad so…
Danny’s window advertised special service leather cleaning so I took in my very favorite, very expensive, leather bag that had a few little stains on it. It was kid leather, soft as a baby’s bottom and I loved it. I pointed out the stains, I said I wasn’t expecting miracles but if they could improve it just a bit that would be fine, I signed the piece of paper saying that I understood that the cleaning process could alter the color of the leather, and I was prepared for that, perhaps some darkening or something, I paid a $ 15 or so (I don’t remember the exact amount) deposit. A couple of weeks later (it wasn’t fast, they had to send it out to god knows where) I went back in to collect my bag, opened up the fancy box with all the tissue paper, and saw that my bag had indeed changed color — because they had painted it! For real! I guess they couldn’t get the stains out or something so they took some gross pinky-​biege paint and painted the whole bag. My super-​soft leather bag was now stiff and crackly and a nasty color. I was pretty mad. I pointed it out to the lady behind the counter. She said no they hadn’t painted it. I was madder. I pointed out that they had painted it, and if fact they had done such a bad job that they had even painted over the zippers and the rivets. She said they hadn’t painted it and I had to pay the $ 50 or whatever it was. I pointed out that if you compared the outside painted leather to a pocket on the inside that they hadn’t painted it was clear that it had been PAINTED. She said it hadn’t been painted. I said I would be happy if they just removed the paint even if the stains were still there. She said it would cost extra to have them look at it. I left the store almost ready to hurl the bag at her head (it was a soft bag, it wouldn’t have hurt much. Oh wait, no, it used to be a soft bag. Now it was like armor). She shouted after me that I still hadn’t paid. Ooo, I still get mad just thinking about it.

It became painfully evident to me the last time I played dress up that my waist line is not quite the same as it was when I bought my all-​purpose wedding/​funeral/​Tarantino-​issue-​jewelry-​store-​robbin’ black suit in 2000. Putting those pants on was like male corsetting. NOT COOL. And Danny’s fixed ‘em up right nice!
