Get the crab stuffed cheese puffs! They’re really puffy & good! Stay away from green onion pancakes. They’re hard and thin. Good dim sum

I was trying to refer a friend to this place. I am so Sad to hear you closed :( I found this little gem while visiting last Nov. The price was great, so much food :) I am not a fan of pork buns, but theirs were Amazing. Not too doughy and perfectly filled with a nice flavor to the pork. I hope you reopen or just moved and will let your customers know :) Thanks for the great food and service :)

I really hope you guys reopen! This is literally the only chinese place that I’ve loved. They had an egg dish with veggies(or prawn version) that had a brown sauce on top. I don’t know what it was but I haven’t seen it other places. And they never made it greasy. The sesame seed balls were aaa-mazing as well. They changed ownership/management which I was bummed about because we always had the same really nice waitress and it seemed she was gone. The new owners didn’t speak english as well and made my food really greasy. Now its just closed down. I hope they make a come back. ;)

To sum it up: Awesomely Mediocre Returnability: Every month Superstar Factor: On the superstar scale, Dim Sum Bar is the restaurant equivalent to that character actor that you always see. You know they cast him because they knew that he would be more dependable and cheaper than that hot breakthrough actor on the latest Twilight. Would I come here if I didn’t live in the neighborhood? Probably not. But for the price, the selection and quality are definitely above and beyond what I would have expected. The dim sum is better than many of the dim sum joints in Chinatown or The Richmond. Really. It’s not going to be the best you ever had, but you know it will be awesomely mediocre.

Easily the best Chinese food around in this area. Never set foot in this place, but have had all sorts of takeout dishes from here tons of times while drinking in the area and everything I’ve had and seen has been most impressive. No aspirations to be upscale or trendy, but nice big portions of good, hot, delicious food. Under-promise and over-deliver…truly a fantastic place for takeout if you’re drinking in the area. Based on the above criteria, there’s no way I could give it less than five stars.

Cheap decent quality dim sum!!! I LOVE this place. They have $ 5 fried rice for college students! I used to live half a block away, and on my way home I would go pick up some fried rice+dim sum to share with my roommate. Their huge portions are enough for my roommate and I, or if you live alone, it’s good for at least 2 meals. Oh and the owner’s brother Tony makes awesome fruity icy drinks! And he’s super friendly :) Some dishes come with complimentary soups, and he served one to me too even though I didn’t order one of those dishes! It’s clean, simple, good for family dinner, friends get-together, and if you started drinking early in a sports bar watching games, you should definitely come here afterwards for huge portions, delicious chinese food! It’s too bad I live farther now. I miss the Dim Sum Bar!!!

This isn’t my hood but I had an expiring Homerun voucher so we made our way down here. It’s located in the loin so instead of circling around and trying to find parking next to a crack head we just parked at the Vanness AMC theater lot and walked the 4 blocks over. There was just one other couple there eating when we arrived at 8:30pm but several people coming in for take-out. They have a rather large menu for such a small place. We had $ 30 to spend and got: SUIMAI: 4 pieces came out in a steaming tray. They were good but you really can’t go wrong with this order. SESAMEBALLS: 4 smaller than usual little balls came out pipping hot! They were a little over fried but I think I liked them that way better. Very good. GREENONIONPANCAKES: Oily suckers! The menu says 8 pieces, which is crazy but it’s really only two pancakes they cut up. They’re good after you blot some oil off them. SPICYGARLICCHICKEN: Heavenly garlic! This was delicious! You have to try but be warned, I had garlic breath all night. HONEYWALNUTPRAWNS: My bf had to get this. It was good and not overly mayonnaisey. CHINESECHICKENSALAD: This was a large salad with baby corn, mushrooms, tender pieces of white meat chicken, cabbage, carrots and peanuts. It was delicious but a little over dressed. I loved it though. Everyone was very nice and attentive. We got our tea filled in a timely manner but had to ask twice for our waters. Not a biggie like it was for other Unilocalers. This was a rather pleasant experience from what I expected. But since I don’t live near by, it’s easier for me to get great dim sum in the Sunset or Richmond districts, I probably won’t be coming back. They deliver if you live close by.

My company held our annual Christmas party and decided on food from Dim Sum Bar since they delivered. We had about 40 people total and ordered the following: 1. 10lbs Beef Chow Fun — Very yummy! 2. 10 lbs BBQ Pork Fried Rice — I didnt have any rice but there wasnt much rice left at the end of the party so i’m assuming it was good. 3. Large tray of chicken wings — these were a massive hit. The chicken wings were deep fried to perfection with just the right amount of salt and peppers 4. Curry Puffs — Hot and fresh! Really good! 5. Cheese Puffs — Same as above! 6. Egg Tarts — Delicious! 6. Spring Rolls — made fresh and still very hot when delivered 7. Pork potstickers — I ate so many I lost count! 8. Veggie potstickers — Same as above! 9. Sesame Balls — Super fresh with a very good amount of filling inside. The owner, Crystina, took the time to help me on the order because I really didnt know how much food to order for 40 people! She was super nice and helpful. I told her that the party would start around 4PM and the food arrived right then with everything still hot. I think we’ve found our new restaurant for catering!

I have to admit. Dim sum for delivery? Crazy thought right? Well, no. Not when you’ve been home sick in bed with a sinus cold. Ordered via . Quick and easy to order. Delivery ranged from 45min-1 hr. I ordered usual dim sum items, har gow– shrimp dumpings, sui mai– pork and shrimp dumplings, and the baos. Orders were small, 3 items per order(not the usual 4). I highly recommend the custard baos. Yum. I also recommend the lychee slush and the lychee iced tea. So amazing. If you are looking for quick and easy dim sum delivery, check them out. Not the best but for the price and delivery, its well worth it.

LONGWAIT. Jesus H. I wandered in and there were 4 – 5 tables of patrons and another 4 – 5 tables empty. I waited politely by the door to be seated. The waitress came into the room(from the kitchen) several times to bring drinks & food to the table but flat out ignored me. Finally, after getting a table and a menu, I waited a good 15 minutes to order. During this time, I watched(at first with amusement, then later with growing apprehension) as the sole waitress brought out all sorts of orders gone wrong. No one was getting what they had ordered and everyone looked very irate. I had to get up and walk out. No thanks.

tl;dr — Long wait. Small dim sum. Pretty average taste. I read the reviews and got pretty excited for Sunday brunch. I love dim sum brunch. Who doesn’t? First of all this place is small. Only a few tables inside. Nothing like the large halls/rooms I usually associate with sunday dim sum brunch. There’s no cart for you to impulsively pick and choose from either. You order off a small menu and that’s about it. With 4 of us in our group, we picked 11 plates and thought we’d be ok to go. We also ordered house lychee tea. The tea took 20 minutes to come out for some reason, but was pretty good. The first plate of dim sum also took 15 – 20 minutes as well. Then they each came out every 5 – 10 minutes. Seriously, I’ve never waited so long in my life for dim sum. One plate of shu mai that came out was luke warm at best. Had it been sitting out for a while? Did it somehow avoid the steam? The dim sum was alright, but small. Much smaller than I’m used to seeing. My general rule of thumb is that there should be 3 – 4 plates ordered for every person in your party. The size plates they serve here, I’d bump that up to 5 – 6. Not impressed Dim Sum Bar.

Pretty solid place to get your dim sum fixed. Everything was pretty tasty but once again, Service was horrible. Food was just ok. The rice was still all clumped up and it wasnt hot when we got it. The combination chowmein was similar to what you get at a americanized chinese restaurant. Dim sim was good though. Although they ran out of the har gow and they ended up substituting it with something else. The crab puffs were awesome as well as the sui mai. Price was really nice too. 40 bucks for 2 people with lots of food to bring home to go. I’ll try this place out again. But only for the sui mai and the crab puffs.

This is one of those little gems that on the outside seems very unassuming, but the food is fantastic. Walked here from downtown, which I highly recommend not doing alone if you’re a woman. There are some shady looking areas on the way there. It’s a fairly small restaurant, not a lot of room to spare, but the service is great and the food is awesome. I tried the large selection of dim sum, and it was all very, very good. We also got some hot and sour soup, which I normally don’t like, but this one was thick and hearty. Much better than any other I’ve had. I’d also recommend the garlic chicken, very yummy. They’ve got beer and wine as well. I had a nice riesling to go with my dinner, and my husband grabbed a local beer. For dessert try the sweeter dim sum offerings. I aboslutely loved the sesame balls and bao. And the waiter was nice enough to give us a free egg custard as well(probably because he and my husband were swapping baseball stories all night). So good! I would most definitely come here again. Love it!

(See pics) Came here for lunch and had the dim sum platter and noodles with chicken and vegetables. Both were okay but I think Tian Sing had better but more expensive dim sum. Service was quick and friendly and it’s quite inexpensive if you crave some dim sum. The interesting thing is on the wall they are selling green reusable shopping/grocery bags.

I had a $ 10 certificate from and was able to use it here — no problem. I was a bit wary because it looks like a hole-in-the-wall from the outside, but inside is actually clean, spacious, and they’ve got a flat screen playing movies on the wall. The crab meat cheese puffs were GREAT!!! Probably the best part of the meal! The dim sum(ha gao, siu mai, lo mai bao) was nothing special, but we weren’t expecting it to be. The mongolian beef panfried noodles were INCREDIBLY salty, but still pretty good. The noodles were different from what you’d get at other restaurants — seemed like a healthier version? Anyway, the noodles came out SUPERCRISPY, just the way I like them. I also had a lychee iced tea, that actually had whole canned lychees on the bottom. I really liked it =) OH, and lastly, the prices are BEYOND reasonable. I’ll be back when I’ve got a hankering for Chinese food!

I’ll be back! #1 reason: They have quite a few vegetarian options! And I felt comfortable enough communicating with the employees and wasn’t worried that they didn’t understand my vegetarian choices. The service was friendly and pretty fast and the young man who helped us was kind enough to make sure the items we ordered were vegetarian. They were out of one of the items we wanted to order, but they also had another which was not on the menu, so we got to try quite a few vegetarian options. Casual but nice and clean restaurant– take out or eat in. Dining area is a bit small, but it looks like it accommodate a medium sized group. Decent prices– Get an item or two, or a whole table full without breaking the bank. In short: Yum!

Meh. That’s all I can really say about this place. I went with my pops who wouldn’t be so generous to give it three stars. The food was fair at best, especially when you compare it to the countless dim sum competitors in the city. Granted there aren’t any within a few blocks radius of this place, that’s still no excuse for not making well the one thing that your restaurant name suggests would be made well. My dad, a seasoned dim sum guru, was convinced the dim sum was frozen and reheated. What’s worse is the dim sum prices were marked up about 30%. Sure it’s a cleaner environment, but if I’m going to pay a premium for a nicer place to eat dim sum then I’m going to Yank Sing, not this place. In the end, this place loses on both food taste and atmosphere, making it just. .. meh. What saves this place from two stars is the friendly and attentive service. The young server brought tea to our table almost immediately after we sat down. She was totally on point when it came to refills, running our food, and checking on things from time to time. The other good thing about this place? The portions were big. BIG. Not so much the dim sum but the main dishes. We got the chow fun, crispy tofu, and rice soup(in addition to 12 pieces dim sum) and it felt like I had done five return trips at a buffet. Bottom line though. .. Good service, great portions, but probably only worth the prices they charge if you can neutralize them with a certificate.

Decided to give this place a try after finding a $ 10 gift certificate at Restaurant .com. Valid with a minimum purchase of $ 20. That’s 50% off! Sure why not! We ordered: hot and sour soup(small $ 2.95), black pepper chicken($ 7.50), beef pan fried noodle($ 7.50). The server came back and said we’re $ 2.05 short of the $ 20 minimum. Okay, throw in an order of sesame balls($ 2.35). It seems like a reasonable amount of food for 2 people. But when we saw our dishes, we knew we’re in trouble. The portions were huge! Hot and Sour Soup( ): There was enough for almost 2 bowls for each of us. The soup was spicy with pepper and sour with vinegar. Mmmm, just the way I like it. The only bad part was the green onions. This soup usually comes without and they put lots in there. Black Pepper Chicken( ): Another peppery dish! It looks like there’s ton of onions, which there were, but tons of chicken underneath. The meat was tender and flavorful! Love the sauce! Beef Pan Fried Noodle( ): Who doesn’t love pan fried noodles?! I love eating the crispy noodles and the soggy noodles in one bite. Texture explosion in my mouth! Loads of beef and veggies on top! Sesame Balls( ): I was pretty full and had one later that night when it was cold. It was okay. If you know me well enough, I don’t usually rave about Chinese food. But this place has some pretty good dishes. Not too greasy. Big portions. And to top it off, since we have that certificate, our meal came out to be $ 12! I’ll be back for sure! =)

We had the 6-piece dim sum sampler — pretty good. Their lunch specials are the bomb! $ 5.55 for a generous-sized entrée plus a generous scoop of rice AND soup. My bf had the chicken curry lunch special and I had the cashew chicken — yum! And the soup-of-the-day was a kind of creamy corn soup with a touch of sesame — mmm! Dim Sum Bar is in my neighborhood, and it’s solid good. Dim sum sampler+2 lunch specials = $ 20

This review is for the Dim Sum Bar’s dim sum only. They have an extensive menu full of regular Chinese dishes that I have not sampled yet. I like the fact that they serve dim sum from the time they open until the time they close, but to call your business Dim Sum anything then offer only 13 varieties of dim sum is pretty pathetic. I went there during an early dinner hour and the restaurant was empty. Here’s an interior shot( ). It looks like the décor has changed dramatically from some of the earlier photos posted. The restaurant has the appearance of being very clean. They have most of the basic dim sum items, but I was really disappointed that they don’t offer any baked buns or sweet buns other than the egg yolk ones which I hate. The waitress lady was very nice and asked me take a seat anywhere. Being so limited on my choices I selected the 12 piece Dim Sum Mix which includes three pieces each of the«Xiao Long» pork dumplings, «Choy Gow» spinach dumplings, «Ha Gow» shrimp dumplings and«Siu Mai» pork and shrimp dumpling. Underneath the clear plastic sheet on every table they have an announcement introducing their«Icy Fruit Drinks» and flavored teas. Curiously, I ordered a strawberry drink. The food was ready very quickly. I made a quick trip to the restroom, and as soon as I returned my drink( ) and my dim sum platter( ) arrived. It certainly looked pretty good, but good looks are often deceiving. The Siu Mai featured coarse ground pork, finely chopped bits of shrimp and mushroom bits wrapped within the usual siu mai skin. I found quite a bit of cartilage and inedible fatty pork in all three pieces which were also seasoned with excess sodium. The Xiao Long dumplings were shaped just like little Xiao Long Baos, but these were a huge disappointment. While the dumpling skin was very thin, there was no soup inside and the filling of finely ground pork and cabbage paste was simply disgusting — awful texture, awful taste. Again this selection was also super salty. The Ha Gow was pretty good. It had firm pieces of shrimp meat, chopped bamboo shoots and just a bit of tapioca starch to hold the filling together inside the thin, translucent skin. I’m not a big fan of vegetarian items, but in my opinion the Choy Gow was the best of the four items sampled. Inside the thin, translucent skin(same one used for the Ha Gow) was a nicely seasoned mix of chopped spinach, chopped glass noodles and mushroom bits. The frozen fruit drink was merely crushed, blended ice mixed with what tasted like Kern’s strawberry nectar — overly sweetened but refreshing to drink. A hot cup of tea was also served and that was perfect to eliminate the salt from some of the bad dim sum. If I return to this restaurant it won’t be for their dim sum.
