Anytime you are headed to the fabric store, you should have an idea of what you need. This rule is most important when coming to Discount Fabrics, as it can be somewhat of a mission to find what you are looking for on your own. With that said, the staff are very knowledgeable and willing to assist in finding your fabric needs. The fabric I needed cost me $ 39.00/yard at the fabric store in downtown(you know the one). Here it was $ 19.00/yard! The exact same fabric, color, quality and size. Obviously I purchased the 15 yards needed for my dress promptly. Although they were not having a Black Friday discount, I was still given $ 20.00 off of my purchase. Now that is what I call putting the customer first! What would have cost me close to $ 600.00 at the downtown place, I paid under $ 200.00 at Discount Fabrics. Though different in design and style(it is a warehouse), I guarantee you will find most of what you need here at a very fair price. The only item I did not see was quality lace. Fortunately I had already spent my fortune at the fabric store in downtown on the Chantilly. There’s plenty of parking in front of the shop. Also in front are some the discounted fabrics. I’d say there were two full boxes filed with rolls of fabric. So get there and stock up!

Reams and loads of fabric and sewing notions. I was impressed the had so many varieties of muslin, leathers, and suedes. I have been shopping at Discount fabrics for years, and I have been to many of the closed locations. This is the motherload. I hope it stays at this location because the parking is perfect.

I had been here before but at former location. I took a friend who needed upholstery for two chairs. Everyone was so helpful in finding what she was looking for. We were in and out in about 30 minutes. Staff was wonderful, parking easy, a little out of the way, but for for warehouse prices, no complaints.

This place is heaven. Truly the best it gets in the Bay Area for tailors and hobby sewers alike. I used to go to their other store in SOMA– since they moved I go even more. There is plenty of parking, great light and lots more fabric choices, or seems that way due to the spacious lay out. They have great prices on quality fabric. The staff is super nice and friendly– always happy to help or dig something out that may not be so obvious. The manager Linda is terrific, she helped me get large quantities for an art project– we’re talking 100++ yards… The button, notion and thread selection is stellar. Plan on spending some time here to get an idea of what they carry. From the simplest linings to beautiful silks, suiting, leather and linen. Oh, and if you are looking for faux fur or upholstery they have a great selection of those fabrics too. Plus great remnants and monthly specials too. And they are open on SUNDAY! Bonus points. Rave over…

I just visited the new location on Cesar Chavez –it is amazing! Well worth the drive over. Huge selection of well priced fabrics. I love the upholstery fabrics especially! Just bought fabric for a headboard and also fabric to reupholster my kitchen chairs. Also they had all the supplies I needed: tacks, staple gun, foam and batting. Definitely come check it out!

I must say this store sure does have an abundance of fabrics, notions and leathers!!! I have been going to this store for years, they have recently moved locations and the new place is alot more spaceous and they have tons of parking! There is a wide arrange of silks, cottons and poly blends as well as a good selection for suiting. They dont have many options when it comes to knits or patterned jerseys. I do think this store is worth visiting if your into sewing there are plenty of options for some good deals! I got some hide for 5 $, no beating that!!!

As Discount Fabrics’s first reviewer, I wish I could give this place at least 4 stars. You’d think their name would mean that they have really discounted fabrics, right? I’m really sorry to say this isn’t really the case. This fabric store is in a huge warehouse, and because there’s so much space and items, it is quite fun to explore and get lost in aisles after aisles of fabrics. Some of the very intricate lace fabrics and Hindi silks with intricate beading are well worth over $ 65, and that’s on the relatively cheap end. Though those are very special fabrics that probably have hand beading, which may explain the high prices. There was a very specific fabric I was looking for(Michael Miller DC5522 Nevermore Collage, if any of you fabric nerds are curious). You’d think that in a giant warehouse filled with rolls after rolls of fabric, they might carry obscure fabric. But no. Also, if you want to invest in corsetry, forget about this place. There was only plastic and rigilene boning, no steel at all, let alone spiral steel. No bone casing either. Notions, trims, elastic, and tulle are reasonably priced, though. But not worth it to come all the way out to the Bayview area of San Francisco. If I wanted super-expensive fabric, I might as well just stick to the Financial District and go to Britex. I had high hopes for this place, and was sadly underwhelmed.
