Went to this spot because it was close to where I live and boy am I glad I did! My car had gotten broken into (par for the course when living in San Francisco). They broke the small window in the back. Domport fixed it for me at a reasonable price and super fast. Customer service was excellent and they gave me advice on all my options that would save me money. I would 100% recommend them.

Been in here plenty of times, always had bad luck with my car getting hit. Taye and jose always very friendly and helping me get what I need done. They get a bit busy, but will always try and accommodate me whenever they can. Thanks domport!

I brought my car here 3 times in the past. Twice for issues with my door locks due to defective mechanisms by the manufacturer and once for a small accident. Each time, I was treated very kindly with excellent service. Each time I came, I alway interacted with Tae and Bing, who are both very helpful. Thanks!

Brought my car in to remedy somebody taking a key to the door and peeling clear coat. The job turned out to be slightly more complicated than originally quoted. Domport took the time to do the job correctly and didn’t change the initial quote. I couldn’t be happier with the results. New and existing paint is matched perfectly. No overspray. Tae is awesome to work with.

I stay away from anything that has to do with cars. It is just not my thing to do. But when I have to, I ask my husband to do it. And my husband comes here and he’s happy. Reasonable pricing. True to their promise. Recently, he asked them to fix a broken window, and the guy helped him get the original for the same price of the after market one. He didn’t have to do that if course but he did. Delivery was fast and ready after only one day. 5 stars well deserved!

I’ve brought in my clunker late model Ford Taurus wagon for auto body work after my car was hit by other cars and Domport Auto Body (used to be called Fell Auto Body, but the Fell auto repair place around the corner forced them to change their name) has done a great job of doing the auto repair work.
Today Tae replaced a broken seltbelt buckle on the driver’s side, he had to remove the driver’s seat which must have taken some effort, but he said it didn’t take too long and he ended up not charging me because I’m unemployed looking for a new job.

Many thanks to Tae. Domport Auto Body does excellent auto body and car repair at reasonable prices. Like anyone, once in awhile they might make a mistake, but if they do, and you don’t go maniac on them like another Unilocal reviewer did, they will fix their mistake, short and simple.
They have a great location in Hayes Valley, and hopefully they’ll still be in the same place if the landlord doesn’t raise their lease too much in 2015. This morning I enjoyed walking over to nearby Stacks for breakfast and for those beerdrinkers there is a German style BierGarten right around the corner on Hayes that opens 3PM til 9PM.
Thanks to Tae, Bing, and the crew at Domport Auto Body for continuing to help me be able to keep my clunker car (don’t laugh, it’s paid for, and no one wants to steal it – it’s at the bottom of the stolen car list) while I transition to a new career in overpriced tech bubble SF where the rents have shot up something like 45% in the past 5 years. –Katie

Ugh, I don’t even know where to begin. But I am definitely NOT coming back.
TL;DR Bing, the owner, is horrible w/​follow-​up communication & customer service. Tae is awesome; if he starts his own shop, I’ll highly recommend him. The staff do not care about your car. They drive recklessly, leave bumpers on top of other cars, and your car will have fresh scratches if you’re just unlucky enough.
I was the victim of an initial hit and run accident (they came back!) and my entire front bumper fell off, my left tire literally had a hole in it, my left headlight/​turn signals shattered, and there’s a huge gash on the front-​left body. This happened early December and it took 4+ weeks to get it all fixed up. New front left tire and rim, new headlights. I must say, they did a very good job. It looked almost like new.
When I picked up my car, Bing (an older Chinese man, who I think may be the owner) was very friendly and told us to bring the car back if there’s any problems.
Lo and behold, I drove my car for a few days and something was definitely wrong. Whenever I made tighter left turns, the steering wheel continues to turn left all on its own. My power steering was not like this prior to the accident so we brought it back to Domport. It took 15 minutes of convincing and a joy ride around Safeway’s parking lot to prove to Bing that this issue existed and was very real. He then tells us that he’s very busy and will call us to let us know when he «has time for us».
Over a week later, he finally calls and I drop my car off. A week goes by and we hear nothing so we give him a call and it sounds like he completely forgot he even HAD my car and tells me he’s been very busy. That’s nice that you’re busy, good for you! It’s not an excuse to just forget to followup with me though.
When I went by to get an update, my car wasn’t even in the shop… Bing wasn’t there that day so Tae explained what they’ve tried so far and what they’re going to try next (which was to bring it to different shops to get opinions). He was extremely helpful in explaining the whole process, which made me feel better. He also told us that my front right tire has a bubble and that I should replace it ASAP. Tae told us it’s ~$ 80 – 90 for the replacement and I agreed to have it done there.
A week later, no updates. We had to call them again to get any update. Still unsure of what the cause of the steering problem is, they said they wanted to bring it to Honda sometime to get it checked out. When we came by the shop, I asked them to call to schedule a drop-​in. Turns out, they could drop my car off at Honda that same day. Oh, and they somehow scratched my back bumper. Are you guys kidding me? Shouldn’t you show more care for your customer’s cars? They said it was someone from another company that did it and offered to paint it. Fine.
3 days pass and no update. We call and Bing tells us that they figured it out and was quite confused why we didn’t come by the past two days. Uh, wait a minute. You didn’t call to give us an update and expect us to just drop by? What kind of followup is this??? He tells us that we can get the car the next day while they repaint the bumper they scratched up.
We go by and it is indeed fixed (finally). However, making right turns is now at a 80% compared to its 100% before the left turn issue was resolved. Whatever, close enough. At this point, I was done with Domport Auto.
We asked Bing what was changed and what the cause was. He explained to us that Honda did not find the cause and that he just switched everything out the next day and somehow it was magically fixed… right. He then tells me it’s $ 100 for the tire change. Remembering the $ 80 – 90 quote I got last time, I asked Bing about it and he chuckles and slyly says that they had another company do the tire change and that if they had done it, it would’ve be $ 80. …um, okay… do you sense bullsh*t? Because I sense bullsh*t. So Bing tells Tae to charge me $ 100 for the tire. As I’m paying for this, I ask Tae what was changed and he told me the spindle. Oh, how interesting… You know EXACTLY what part was changed yet your boss, Bing (who keeps saying he’s been working with cars for 25+ years), «doesn’t know»? How honest of a guy Bing must be!
I finally bring my car back home for the last time and discovered a fresh scratch on my front bumper, scratches on my new rim, and my back-​up sensors are finicky after they repainted my back bumper.
Oh, and they like to put other car bumpers on top of cars. Don’t be surprised if you bring your car here and find new scratches that you’re utterly confused as to how it got there. I’m sorry for the black Camry that had someone else’s car bumper on top of it.
It took nearly 3 long months to get my car back to almost how it was before the accident. If Tae starts his own auto shop business, I’m more than willing to recommend him. Otherwise, eff this place. There’s no way I’m coming back.

Tae, the owner of Domport, is the most caring & honest mechanic I’ve met yet. My car wouldn’t start today and I randomly clicked and called him out of desperation an hour before they closed. As soon as he found out I live an hour away and was stranded in the city, he offered to work on my car pass his work hours and also quoted me extremely reasonable price on labor and part combined. He suggested I tried starting my car to see if it worked otherwise tow it in to his shop. It turned out that my car got started by itself at the end. I called him back to report that. To ensure my safety, he told me to drive to his shop so he could check for potential issue and to ensure my safely!!! What an awesome, awesome mechanic!!! So much love and care! I’m definitely taking my car back to Tae for repair and stuff! 5 stars and 5 loves!!!

So, I haven’t had work done on my car at Domport Auto Body, but I wanted to sing their praises just the same.
The other weekend my wife drove in to the city (from the East Bay) and her car began overheating, then a check engine light warning came on. She didn’t want to risk driving it back across the bay, so she located the nearest mechanic (with a high rating on Unilocal), which brought her here.
Tae began troubleshooting the vehicle and testing all the usual suspects. I got on the phone with him a number of times during his diagnostic, all the while my wife waited patiently by. While he was testing different systems, he replaced a burned out headlamp for her. After several hours of checking and rechecking systems he called to tell me that he couldn’t quite figure out the problem, and while the car seemed to be running normal, he couldn’t guarantee it would make it back across the bay. I drove across to meet my wife, and follow her home, just in case she experienced another anomaly with the car. We made it back home without incident. It was only then that my wife told me that Tae only charged her for the replaced headlamp ($ 25), and didn’t feel right about charging her for his time troubleshooting the vehicle, since he didn’t find the problem with it. This was not only several hours worth of work, but also extended beyond his normal business hours for the day.
In an industry with a reputation for dishonesty (rightly or wrongly), Tae proved himself worthy of being not only an honest mechanic but a downright decent human being. I can not recommend Domport Auto Body more highly and favorably.

These guys are great. They always get the job done, they do it for super-​cheap, and Tae (the owner) is a righteous dude who treats his customers right. Recommend!

I have been living in the Bay Area for 6 years now and have only in the last 1.5 years had a car here… I never had an accident in the city until a little over a week ago. Not only was I super bummed, but I had to pay out of pocket to avoid insurance nonsense– I got a recommendation from the roommates family only to find out that «Franklin Auto Body» was now under new management/​a new name: Domport. When I got there however, none of that mattered since Tae took care of me and my car so well, that I do not see myself going anywhere else in the city for auto repair help anymore. They gave me a super honest quote (which ended up being all I paid for), ordered my parts ahead of time, painted them (also ahead of time), and when I dropped off my car yesterday morning, it was ready THE SAME DAY (literally 8 hours later). They even waited 20 minutes after closing for me to pick it up since I had to BART back from Oakland where I work. Thanks Tae and Domport again so much! I owe you guys and anyone who needs some honest help, guidance, and good work done should come here!

Going to get my car fixed should be a stressful experience, but this place makes it much less so.
This is my go-​to place for any repairs I need. I will go here over the dealership any time if I have any choice in the matter.
This is because the place is superbly run and always does a great job. Tae, the owner, always goes above and beyond to take care of my car and me and my car always comes back looking like it never went in to the shop. He also has always given me a lower estimate than the dealership because he will fix the problem without adding any unnecessary work (which I’ve noticed is a habit of the dealership.)
When I needed to leave my car there for a week, Tae provided a rental for me. When I noticed a scratch on the car that was not part of the repair estimate, Tae fixed it without adding to the estimate. Whenever I have a car problem, Tae always offers his advice on all the options that are available to me and if he can’t provide a service, he will refer me to someone who can.
This place is five stars for great auto work, great customer service, honesty, integrity, and overall great experience. Go here!

i just stopped in for a quote from tae, at the suggestion of rick at the smog shop. someone did a bad-​ish hit and run on the front of my car.
he gave me a quote and put the torn-​off front license plate back on, saying he didn’t want me to get a ticket for it. when i said i wanted to give him some money for it, as i wasn’t sure if/​when i’d come back to get the rest of the repair done, he insisted it was quick and free.
super nice guy, that was very cool of him. i will update my review if i get the repair done there (i might just do a diy for now). .. but he’s highly recommended by rick, and great reviews, so i feel really good about this place. glad to know about them!

I drive a 25 year old car. An ’89 E30 era Bmw 3-​series, to be precise. I love it. My father was the original owner, and a few years ago, I bought it off him. I plan on driving it into the ground.
The thing is, I keep putting work into maintaining it, meaning it will never fall apart. Having spent a good chunk of change on putting a new OEM catalytic converter into it last fall, I decided to give my baby a facelift. A few rust spots had appeared and the trim was looking old. Domport was recommended to me, and I’ve got to say, there is very little to complain about.
The good:
1. Tae, the person i consulted with and presumably did most of the work, is very kind and welcoming.
2. The quality of work is exceptional.
3. The price I paid I was exactly what I was quoted.
4. Tae actually did EXTRA work at no extra charge. He painted and revived the faded bumper trim and grill, which I had originally intended on simply replacing. He also replaced cracked bumper trim, again at no extra charge.
The not as good.
1. As much as I like informal interactions and business environments, when I dropped my car off, Tae simply wrote my name and phone number down on a piece of scratch paper. No Bill of Materials or quote. No order documentation. i was kind of nervous about that, since receipt would have been nice.
2. I was told about a week or so, but never received updates. I had to follow up with a few times to get news on my car.
In the end, if you’re cool with a really informal and relaxed group of guys, this is the place for you. They do good work at reasonable rates.

I have brought in my car here serval times in the past of couple years. Tae, always takes care of my car. He will explain to me about the condition of my care, this is one of very few places that I do not feel ripped off when I need my car fixed!

Came here on recommendation from Chris’s Discount Muffler, which I heard about through our mechanic Ed’s Autohaus — both of which are also 5 star establishments. As the owner of a gorgeous, but older car that is definitely form-​over-​function, it is SO nice to have a crack-​team of car people you trust!

Domport is my new mechanic of choice!
My car was leaking oil and another shop told me I had to steam clean my engine before they could determine where the leak originated. I brought it here instead. They cleaned the bottom manually and diagnosed the leak, for less than half what a steam clean alone would have cost.
Raymond was extremely helpful, explaining the issues to me in detail and giving me great advice for taking care of my car.

So, my car got into an accident.
It really didn’t look that bad when it happened, though I did realize the car was incapable of going forward or backward in a straight line— but what I failed to see was that the bottom of the car was hanging from the car.
Like — it wasn’t really attached to the car anymore and one tire was way ahead of the other, explaining my car’s inability to, well, basically at all. The side thingamagic on the car was dented in, too — you know, that metal part above the tire? And the mirror was leaking something green out on the passenger side door — which, oh yeah — refused to open, too. (Sense my auto expertise!)
Tae, of Domport Auto Body, is my new hero. I’d still be pondering what to do if not for him!
Not only did he take my car in to fix it, he also had to act like my therapist and calm me down while I freaked out intermittently, and act like an older brother and provide guidance when needed. Almost every other day, I received a call from him explaining where we’re at in the process of fixing my baby — and it’s been awhile since I’ve been as happy to hear from someone as I have been to get a call from Tae.
Especially when he called to let me know that my baby was back in perfect shape. On the exact day he said it would be done, no less!
It’s not often a girl can walk into a body shop and be told the truth, comforted AND have everything done with no additional «incidental» charges. Usually, I’d have to take a big, tough and burly man with me to speak for me and make guttural grunts to forbid the shop from telling me the damage will cost $ 40,000 (to which I’d probably gasp and tear up, and singlehandedly reverse the entire women’s movement with the antics that would follow) — but within a minute of meeting Tae, I knew I was in good hands.
While I’m not usually accident-​prone (though someone did say recently that I am completely incapable of taking care of myself), these things happen in life, and I can’t express how secure I feel knowing that Tae is just a couple of miles away should I need him.
I would gladly and confidently recommend Domport, without hesitation — and Tae, for any and all of your body shop needs. A business is only as good as its owners and the people that represent it – and Tae and his team are topnotch. I am not easily impressed with service businesses, but Domport did right by me and my «baby», which I love and appreciate now more than ever.
So, thank you, Domport and Tae, for giving me back my wheels — and returning to me a SQUEAKY CLEAN car, to boot!
