We both got the avocado toast three ways, which was awesome. Served with a cup of super fresh fruit. Plenty of food to get going for the day. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Casual atmosphere, which was perfect since we’re heading for a hike!

A triumph was how I described my breakfast yesterday and today has me wishing I could go back and eat it again. Beautiful crunchy toast, perfectly seasoned mashed avacado, lashings of top quality smoked salmon, perfect crispy bacon and a fried egg cooked to perfection. All washed down with a freshly squeezed orange juice and a side of fruit. Love love love this breakfast.

Great breakfast spot. We had avocado toast and banana nutella crêpe and they were both delicious. Their grapefruit juice is fresh squeezed and is highly recommended.

Very California cool place that serves organic breakfast. Healthy portions of everything you order and the avocado toast was a favorite. Ordered too many items that came with bread so got stuffed. Almost every dish has a side of fruit as well. Worth a visit if going to the waterfront.

There was nothing bad about this place, but nothing blew me away either, hence the 3 stars. Wait: It was full when we got there, so had to put our name on the list. We were second and waited about 10 minutes for a table, not too bad. It’s a quite a small place with only about 10 tables inside and 4 outside, so I’d expect a small wait most times. However, once we got in, service was really quick. They took drink orders right away and food orders soon after. Food: Husband had a(Diamond Heights) frittata with ham and cheese and a side of sourdough toast. Frittata came with potatoes and a bowl of fruit. I had the bagel two ways. One with scrambled egg and cheese(2) and one with peanut butter, bacon, and apple(6). That came with fruit as well. We both thought the food was good, clean, and simple. Fresh squeezed orange juice is extremely expensive for the size. Environment: I don’t know if they normally keep it warm, as this was my first time there, but I was uncomfortably hot. Air conditioning was not on at all. I don’t know if it was broken, but they didn’t mention anything. We were also sat at a table right across from the kitchen. Normally not a problem, but the aisle is so small, I felt like I was in the way constantly as waiters walked behind me and got food from the kitchen. All in all, it was a quick and easy breakfast, tasty enough. But nothing particularly exciting or special. And it was way too warm inside. I’d go again probably, especially as it was literally across the street from our hotel, but if you’re in this area, there are probably better breakfast places(like Buena Vista or Hollywood Café.)

For our anniversary weekend, my boyfriend and I went up to SF for an overnight stay. After looking up different breakfast/brunch places, we chose Eight AM because we figured we hadn’t been to a restaurant with their kind of menu down in SJ. After looking at the photos, I think it’s safe to say this restaurant is on the healthy side haha, which is what we needed after eating junk the night before. It’s a small little place with a few outdoor tables. We were able to snag a table without waiting. As much as I wanted an orange juice, after reading Unilocal reviews and seeing the $ 6 price tag on it, I stuck with water.(I also saw how small the glass was and felt it wasn’t worth $ 6, even if it was so-called freshly hand squeezed.) I ordered the blueberry shortcake, which is a huge butter croissant with blueberries and vanilla pudding inside, with a side of a bowl of fruit. My boyfriend ordered the avocado toast 3 ways(2 bacons, one egg… he felt the tomato was too boring) and we both wanted to try what was so great about the chia seed pudding. I thought I wasn’t going to be full from the blueberry shortcake, but it seemed to fill me up. And surprisingly, they don’t skimp you with the fruit in the fruit bowl! The bowl is full of pineapples, melons, honeydew, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries. The chia seed pudding LOOKED sooo good and sweet, however, it was extremely bland. Maybe that’s really how it was supposed to taste, but I was expecting it to be sweet and flavorful. My bf said his avocado toast was bland as well. He ended up not eating all three pieces of toast. He, too, was full from other stuff we ordered. The service is fast and they’re all pretty friendly/attentive. But the price tags on the food… not too great about it. The taste of some of the food wasn’t worth the hefty price. I know the prices are appropriate for a San Francisco restaurant, but ehh. I mean, portions are great. I think all of the dishes come with a bowl of fruit. I really like how different the menu is, but I wish it had more flavor.

Lovely little local breakfast spot with delicious, generous meals. We had Asparagus frittata which came with house potatoes and an assortment of fresh fruit; and avocado toast 3-ways, which means 1 topped w a fried egg, 1 w bacon, and 1 w fresh tomatoes. This was also served w fruit. Coffee and service were good too. There’s some local funky artwork on the walls available for sale.

I struggled between giving this a 3 and 4 star review. Ultimately, the fresh fruit boats here are what pushed me into 4 territory. Service The place was packed and we had a bit of a wait. Once we were seated though(after about a ten minute wait), there was no messing around. Service was pretty quick and efficient. Décor The restaurant it mostly a diner. Somehow, on a not-so-hot day in SF, the inside of this place is boiling. Maybe from the ovens? We’ve been to a few other diner-ish places in the area, and none felt quite this hot to me. Food + Drinks To start, there was no iced tea, only hot tea. This is usually fine for me, but as stated above, the restaurant itself was hot! I could’ve asked for a cup of ice, but didn’t feel like having the potential spillage and making my own makeshift drink at the table that morning. To eat, my husband and I split the avocado toast three ways(I don’t like fried egg, so we asked for scrambled and we don’t eat bacon, so we were allowed two toasts with scrambled egg and one topped with tomato with no problems) and the Haight Frittata, cheese on the side. The toast was likely some of the worst avocado toast we ever had. Serving size was good but bread wasn’t crunchy or too thick and the avocado had no salt, chili flakes, any kind of topping. The egg on top of the toast was plentiful but, again, flavorless. The tomato toast had a very dark tomato on it. It was good and you could taste the sweetness of the tomato, but I’d say again it needed more. The Haight Frittata had mushrooms, tomato, onion and maybe one other veggie. The eggs were dry. We get an omelette with cheese on the side at our favorite local diner(Swingers in LA) regularly, and it still comes with plenty of herby and delicious flavor. This frittata tasted dry, and that was even including the taste of the vegetables. Again, needed some salt and pepper at the very least. The frittata was fluffy, though. Our dining companion got the same frittata, but he got the cheese on it, and he did seem to enjoy it just fine. So maybe the lesson is, don’t remove the cheese here! I mentioned the side of fruit, which every dish comes with. It’s a great side of fruit — very fresh, lots of diversity(pineapple, grape, kiwi, apple, banana, melon), and a pretty generous portion. The egg dishes both came with potatoes too(again, a pretty good helping), but I was getting full without them, and my husband isn’t a big potato fan. Overall, a surprisingly solid option for the usually chain-entrenched tourist area. Not my favorite breakfast place in SF by any means, but certainly not the worst either. The menu offers a great deal of variety and options if nothing else.

Great breakfast location. The avocado toast 3 ways is really nice. The service is good and the prices are good. With limited locations open for breakfast in this area, this is a very nice local breakfast stop.

My small group came here for breakfast while visiting the area for a meeting at the Marriott nearby. This place was a fantastic find thanks to Unilocal reviewers! We had ordered the Avocado Toast 3 ways and the Russian frittata with an extra side of chicken apple sausage! Wow! The food was great! The toast is definitely their signatures item! Not too heavy tasting at all! Just hits the spot between the toast with the sunny side egg, the one with the crisp bacon, and the one with the nice thick slice of green tomato… just a perfect balance! The frittata was excellent too. The dish came with a side of potatoes too. Actually, all the dishes came with a nice big cup of sliced fruits(bananas, melons, pineapple, blackberry, blueberries, and strawberries)…just another nice touch by this family-oriented restaurant. If you are in the fisherman’s wharf area, this is a must go for breakfast.

Great breakfast place, one of the few that opens early. Everyone raved about the toast three ways so had to try it. Glad I did. Was curious what heirloom tomatoes I’d get, it was of the green variety. Wife got the lox bagel and I have to admit it was maybe better than mine, but it did not come with the giant fruit bowl. Staff was friendly and service was good. We were in and out in about 45 mins. The prices are reasonable. Nina Y and Stefanie C were not there this morning, so that was a bonus because their comments creeped us out a little.

Food is very good, prices are somewhat reasonable for the city, and the service was ok. We came for brunch on a weekday and the restaurant was definitely not empty. There was a large group of us, so they put tables together to make a large table to seat everyone. We ordered a ton of food to share. The portion sizes are pretty big, and all the entrees came with a rather large bowl of fruits. We got the lox bagel, nice soft fluffy bagel with 4 thick and large pieces of smoked salmon. Also got the crab meat omelette, which came in a nice round fluffy shape and tasted delicious. The toast 3 ways was a very interesting dish as each piece of toast looked, and tasted very differently, talk about having variety. Out of the 3, my favorite was the avocado toast! There is only 1 bathroom for the entire restaurant which gets a bit busy and a line formed outside. The service was ok, I did have to ask a few times to refill my tea. Overall, good experience.

The best part about Eight AM? The fact that Nina Y. and I did not have to wait for once in our breakfast and brunch adventures together! There were a few tables left once we arrived around 9am so we were seated immediately. The service here is top notch, and it feels like your local diner without all the grease and dinginess. Love the art, too. We totally over-ordered because there were so many great things on the menu. We ordered three things… * Avocado Toast Three Ways — This comes with three pieces of toast with three different types of toppings. I think Nina and I could have split JUST this and we would have been content. These were not my favorite, but still very home made. * Castro Frittata — The frittata was a little on the dry side but still tasty and fresh, not with all the frills of other $ 20 San Francisco omeletes. It was nice to have a frittata instead of an omelete! * Chia Seed Pudding — This was my favorite menu item. SO healthy and fresh and tasty. Would recommend this! Having this with a side of toast or an egg is just the right amount of food for a light breakfast to start your day. If you have exhausted all of your San Francisco breakfast and brunch options, add Eight AM to your list. It was definitely the healthiest food Nina and I had eaten on a Sunday morning in a long time, and well worth our riding the F train from beginning in Castro to the end at Fishermans Wharf.

I’d been recommended this little unprepossessing café… it’s a couple of blocks back from the touristy fishermans wharf, and honestly, it doesn’t look much from the outside. But, oh my, the breakfast menu was delicious… I was looking down it thinking«yep, I’d literally eat everything on here» given the time! French toast with fruit, caramelised bananas was superb, the service was incredibly friendly. If you are a tourist, go, please. If you’re not, same applies. Excellent.

Weekly brunch with Stefanie C. means we get to try new places and hang out and catch up. Sometimes I’ll be honest and I don’t even truly remember what we talked about for the hours we hang out together. We decided on this place the week before heading here because it was a couple places on brunch spots in the the City. So we trekked all the way from Castro here. Seeing lots of tourists on the way of course. We ended up ordering 3 things: chia seed pudding, avocado toast, and the castro frittata. The Chia seed pudding was okay. I think the last time I had chia seed pudding it was made with coconut milk and coconut pieces so it gave the pudding a bit more flavor. It was okay with the fruit and nuts on top. Avocado toast comes 3 ways(tomato, fried egg, and bacon). I do love the egg one because I love a good runny sunnyside up egg. The bacon was also good, but now I do wonder what it would taste like with both the egg and bacon… hmmm. The final dish was the Castro frittata. The frittata was really just okay. Honestly, I expected a bit more and the eggs were rubbery. Not great. The potatoes that came with it were just average too. Overall, we got great service, but the food was up and down. Protip: avocado toast!

Generous portions, delicious food, attentive & friendly service! I’ll come back again! Got the haight ashbury frittata which was pretty big and had a gooey cheesy filling. Roasted potatoes were pretty good with green onions. The lox bagel came with a huge hunk of smoked salmon!!! Wow! The«blueberry shortcake» is really good: tons of blueberries with cream and vanilla pudding on a buttery flaky croissant. Almost every plate comes with a bowl of fresh fruit! Usually restaurants skimp when it comes to fresh fruit, berries, or smoked salmon but this place absolutely does not. Cute turtle décor inside. It looks like a family run business and the chef /owner came out and told us to take our time even though we were their last customer. The service was highly attentive and +1 for seating us right when you closed! I won’t forget that :) hope the tip made up for waiting for us. I’ll be back, this time before closing!

This is a great breakfast/brunch place to visit. They have lots of delicious items on their menu including some unique avocado toasts, crepes & bagels. They workers here are all very nice & I think it’s family owned? I got the avocado toast 3 ways. You don’t need to get one of each kind, you can get 3 of the same or 2 of the same kind. You just need to tell the waiter! I recommend all 3 though so you get the best of all 3 worlds! The bread for all 3 are different as well which makes it unique. I love the variety. My favorite would be the egg one since it’s a runny sunny side egg :) The one with tomato on top was normal but refreshing! The bacon one is unique because it’s a mix of salty and savory. This also comes with a side of fresh fruit. Every single bite of the fruit was so fresh & sweet. It came with cantelope, honeydew, banana, strawberry, blueberries & kiwi! Such a food fruit medley :) I was going to come for another visit during my vacation in SF but it’s okay, NEXTTIME for sure!

The bf and I stopped by here for breakfast after dropping off our dog at the groomer’s in North Beach. We came by around 10 a.m. on a Saturday and were seated immediately. They were pretty busy, with just a few empty tables left. By the time we were done, maybe around 11 – 11:15-ish, there was a line. I assume that was the time when all the tourists finally got up and out. The servers looked really young — maybe high schoolers? — but they were really attentive and polite. After being seated, we were given menus and asked what we’d like to drink. Once we were ready, someone quickly took our order. I had the Avocado Toast — Three Ways, and it was okay. The toast was over toasted and hard — so hard that I couldn’t cut it easily with a butter knife =/The avocado was very fresh, but not seasoned at all so very bland. The sunny-side up egg was perfectly cooked though! Boyfriend had the Russian Hill frittata, which he enjoyed but it wasn’t anything special as well. The best part was that each of our orders came with a generous serving of fresh fruit! I feel like this is a good option for anyone looking to start their day out at Fisherman’s Wharf/Pier 39 since the wharf is literally a block away. Other than that, I wouldn’t make my way out here for the food.

They have the freshest and sweetest fruit! What I ordered: — Soy chia seed pudding — Mixed berries waffle — Nutella parfait — Avocado trio I came here for brunch and you may think it’s a «hole in the wall» but this is a delicious«hole in the wall»! The servers and staff are friendly and while scrolling through pictures on Unilocal,it took me forever to decide what i wanted to eat. I was immediately drawn to ordering the soy chia seed pudding pictures. For avocado lovers, the avocado trio is a must-try! You won’t regret trying it. This is a great place for foodies and those who love«cute» presentations of food.

The BF and I decided to stroll down to the wharf for some brunch before we jetted out of town. We found Eight AM and were just so delighted. Avocado toast 3 ways was DELICIOUS and so was my blueberry shortcake that I ate so quickly I didn’t even have time to take a picture of it. Croissant, blueberries, and vanilla pudding. WIN. Their fruit salad is also really impressive and abundant. Definitely more than I was expecting. LOVELOVELOVE, we’ll be back!
