There are many accountants out there so if you are reading this, I would highly recommend you find someone else.
I found a new accountant who found several errors in Arthur’s returns over the past 5 years. I had to amend each and everyone. Last week, the IRS and California Franchise Tax Board sent me letters demanding I amend a 2011 return because Aurthur did not include salary from my W2! Yes, I guess I should have checked the return myself, but what am I paying an accountant for then?
I don’t typically write negative reviews. But I’ve had to spend thousands of dollars to fix his mistakes. On top of that, he’s not very responsive, I have to follow him up several times to hopefully get an answer.
The upside is that his rates are cheap. If you are willing to check your returns after he has done them, then he might be ok for you.

My husband and his family have been going to Arthur for years. I on the other hand never really cared who I go to do my taxes… until I met Arthur through my husband. His honesty and kindness is beyond any words. He truly cares about his clients and saved us so much money. Some of the advice he gave us — we use on a daily basis. Highly recommend.

Arthur is awesome! He makes filing taxed almost enjoyable experience.
I filed taxes with him in 2013 for the first time and came back again in 2014. It was so easy for the client. First you meet with him in person, the rest is done via emails which is great! Definitely recommend him.

My experience with Arthur was really bad. He took my W2 and last year’s tax return to take a look then emailed me a few days later saying that my taxes were done. When I emailed back with questions he got annoyed. He suddenly had back to back meetings and didn’t have time to chat. He did want to charge me full price even though I expressed concerns about my return and told him I didn’t feel comfortable filing through him. I don’t recommend him at all.

My experience with Arthur was brief and pleasant. I have always done my taxes myself but thought I would consult with a CPA to confirm I am filing properly. Arthur was brief when he reviewed my work and confirmed they were proper. He didn’t charge me for this brief exchange even though I had scheduled ahead with him. I will certainly return to work with Arthur when my tax preparation becomes more complex. He was very cordial and nice to interact with.

My experience with Arthur was strange.
Let me preface this review by saying that I just moved to S.F. from L.A., and I’ve used the same tax lady for years until now. My tax lady back in L.A. would take me as a walk-​in, prepare my taxes the same day, I would pay her, and a week or two later I’d get my money. Very easy process. Not with Arthur…
I had to make an appointment to see Arthur and when I came in for my scheduled appointment he was still talking to another client, so I had to wait. I brought all of the necessary documents, Arthur looked at them and said, «You’ll probably get around XXX, but it will take me around 5 days to prepare your taxes.» Huh? I’ve never had to wait that long. Ever. I’m a single person with no dependents, and I’ve worked at the same company for the past 7 years. I just don’t see why my taxes should have taken that long to prepare.
Arthur then asked that I leave my documents with him and that in a few days I would receive a form via email, which I would sign to consent to the filing. Four days later I received the form, printed it out, signed it, and delivered it to his office. The next day, Arthur left a message and said everything was ready, that I could come in, get my tax package and pay him. He never told me how much I owed him so I had to call his receptionist to find out. Also, he never asked me whether I wanted an electronic filing or paper, he just chose paper for me.
I ended up paying him more than what I paid my tax lady in L.A., and I’m getting less money in return.
I will not go back to Arthur.

Arthur = one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I had a lot of questions about filing taxes under a S-​corporation structure, and Arthur was kind enough to speak with me in person for over 30 minutes, and at the end, asked for nothing in return for payment. Such a nice person, and I trust his opinions whole heartedly.

I recenctly moved to San Francisco from out of state with some complicated tax matters and searched on Unilocal for the BEST tax preparer. I read nothing but great reviews about Arthur, and had to see if it was true. Arthur’s professionalism and friendly service made tax time a pleasant experience. No kidding. His fee is very reasonable, too. Five stars for Arthur!

Arthur came to me on the advice of a trusted co-​worker more than 2 years ago. I now don’t think that I’ll ever use another Accountant to fight for the best possible outcome on my tax returns. A family man, and immigrant to this country, Arthur has obviously worked extremely hard to have his business. He truly wants the best for his clients, no pretenses involved. I feel comfortable about my finances being in his care.
Arthur has the kindest smile and demeanor of anyone I’ve ever met. His warm smile makes you feel immediately at ease, considering that you’re usually dealing with a stressful time in your life (having to shell out money!).
