I feel rich. Like lottery winning rich. I won a $ 100 gift certificate here, and I went all out when it came to ordering food. But don’t worry, I’m not that selfish. I like to share the wealth, so I invited my friends and paid the difference. Here’s what we had and our thoughts. Clam chowder: Great, creamy, clam-y. Everyone loved their clam chowder. The ones with the bread bowl loved the bread too. Caesar salad: Huge portion, good dressing, not overly great, just okay. Baked oysters: These tasted a bit raw even though they were supposed to be baked. Even the cheese on top was cold. But this is where the service shined. Our waiter was always checking up on us, and we even had service from the District Manager Neusom, who came over and checked on us as well. When we told him about the oysters, he struck it from the bill immediately. Large Shrimp Cocktail: Delicious, and lived up to it’s name. They were large. So good we couldn’t stop ordering and eating these. Crab cakes: Excellent flavor. More crab meat than breading, great texture. We ordered several of them because we liked them so much. Chippino: Huge, and filled with things you would find under the sea. Clams, crab, salmon, I mean this thing was a cauldron of goodness. I want to say that our waiter was exceptional and was always there to fill up water, and even bagged up fresh sourdough for one of my friends who wanted to take some bread home. Being that this is a tourist spot, I highly recommend it for tourists who may be overwhelmed with all the choices on the Pier. Even as a local, I can say, I’ll definitely be back.

Fog Harbor is one of the top places for seafood on my list. Everything we had was delicious. We shared the crispy scallops with jalapeño aioli sauce, crab cakes, seafood penne pasta and the clam chowder. They also have really good bread, so I would opt out of the bread bowl if you decide on clam chowder. On top of the amazing food, we were also seated by the window with a gorgeous view. I would love to make a trip back soon!

Good food and a gorgeous view make this a prime dining location at Pier 39. Attentive service here is another plus! The clam linguini was good, but definitely on the heavier side. Their clam chowder bread bowl was also tasty, but overrated. Regardless, I have no regrets because it’s always tradition to grab one while in SF. The crab roll was amazing. The bread was perfectly buttery and toasted, and the crab was well seasoned. I would get this upon my next visit here. Long story short, I expected Fog Harbor to be the typical tourist trap, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Coming from a local, for being a top tourist spot, there really aren’t that many great restaurants on Pier 39. Some take advantage of you with their high prices and low quality food while others simply suck. Yet, in the midst of all of these posers, Fog Harbor is the gem of Pier 39. The décor and the overall ambiance makes for a romantic/cozy environment. Perfect for a date night which was exactly what I was looking for. In fact, it surpassed my expectations. Nothing like those dirty old fish houses that line the pier(cough cough Aliotos and Cioppinos). Props to the interior designer. I see you workin’ ;) The food was amazing. The clam chowder was some of the best that I’ve ever had although I do wish that they had given us more as it seemed as if there was only half a cup of chowder inside the bread bowl. Besides the chowder, my gf and I split the Shellfish Platter for 2($ 58). It was huge, very tasty, and well pleasing to my camera lens. Oh. And not a spec of sand was found. Service was great too. We had the taller blond/brunette gal with glasses as our server. She was extremely attentive, very considerate, and really knowledgeable of the menu. She was a tad stiff though so maybe the management needs to give her a free spa day. Cuz trust me, she’s an asset as a waitress and you guys probably owe her a raise or a spa day anyways.

As a First Timer I Must say that my experience was Amazing. The staff was friendly right on point and the food was delicious. Let’s Start with Ambiance it was very comforting not pretentious rather relaxing and the best part was we never felt rushed. I ordered the Mixed Grill which consisted of salmon, shrimp skewer and some other type of fish along with veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. My husband ordered the surf and turf His steak was cooked exactly the way he requested. The lobster was well proportioned so no complaints from him. We had a few drinks from the bar which were well made and for dessert I had the Tiramisu which was out of this world. I highly recommend this restaurant it was worth every penny. Kudos to our amazing waitress didn’t catch her name but she made the experience well worth it.

I loved the ambiance of the restaurant! Although there was a really loud group of Asians sitting right beside us, it didn’t stop me from enjoying the food and the view of the bay! We ordered salmon and surf & turf. The salmon was bomb, flavour was on point! The steak, on the other hand, was a little too hard for me. It was hard to chew. The lobster looked great but it was a tad bit too salty for me. The best part of the entire meal was the clam chowder! It was bomb, definitely need to give it a try! Worth the money. Ps. For those who went to the aquarium first, keep your tickets! You get 15% off your bill if you dine at this restaurant!

Came here for the crab. We ordered a garlic crab and Cioppino. Crab — it was awesome, fresh, yummy and the price was reasonable. Cioppino — mussels, shrimps, fish, clams, scallops and crab inside. I love the scallop and shrimp but I was a little bit disappointed with the flake crab meat. Overall it is good and I would like to try there lobster if come again. Also, we were enjoy the sun and ocean view in the window seat.

Ever since our August 2015 trip, I’ve returned in Sep. 2015 and this past weekend. The Jan. 2016 visit was more important as it was a joint birthday for my mom and gf’s dad. There was 12 of us, and I reserved a table a month prior. We were lucky to get the best seat in the house, and a spectacular view of the wharf. Everyone in my group ordered clam chowder in cups and bowls and the calamari for the appetizers. The whole family enjoyed it, even coining the clam chowder one of the best chowders they’ve had. Our server Amy and the rest of the Fog Harbor team took great care of us. Almost 80% of my group ordered the Mixed Grill, while we also added some seafood pasta and lobster tail entrée. Regardless of the wharf being very touristy, Fog Harbor is not just a touristy place, I feel they care and serve quality food. I highly highly recommend this place, over and over again! Peace, love and happiness!

Located in the famous(or imfamous, depending on who you ask) pier 39, the restaurant was higher end then I expected. I expected something more shack like and when I first saw the restaurant I was afraid it was gonna be a tourist trap, but the food was amazing! I ordered the jumbo shrimp cocktail and the sourdough bowl chowder. The shrimp(which I think was expensive for 6 large shrimps) tasted very fresh, the cocktail sauce had an unexpected kick as well. While I would order it again, I think $ 16 for 6 pieces of shrimp is very pricy. The clam chowder was excellent as well. The soup came in a hot toasted bread bowl and was piping hot as well. Very well seasoned with lots of pieces of clams. The clams were no overcooked(which can be a problem when mass producing clan chowder) and it was very filling. It was also a good price as well, I would have no problems ordering the bowl of soup again since it was about 2 cups of soup for $ 10. The service was meh, they were obviously busy but I didn’t think they were packed and yet our waitress who was very nice and polite never really came by. We had to our our drinks from someone we flagged down and we did so for the rest of the meal. Both the high price point on the shrimp and the service contributed to the 4 stars instead of 5 stars but I would highly recommend this restaurant to those visiting the pier.

Wow! That’s literally the only word I can use to describe my experience here. I’m in San Francisco for a few days with the family and since we are staying in Fishermans Wharf area we decided we wanted some seafood for dinner. Found this restaurant on here and it looked promising. All of our food was amazing. Even the bread! Actually the bread was one of the highlights. Our appetizer was the garlic shrimp which was delicious and fresh. As my entrée I got the salmon which was cooked perfectly and delicious. The veggie mix was perfect too. I seriously loved all the food here. Service was okay, but the food and the views you get while you’re sitting down made up for that. I will absolutely m comeback next I’m in town.

Came here for dinner to celebrate NYE. We got a hold of the restaurant to ensure that they were open. Luckily, they were open until midnight. We were told that they weren’t accepting any reservations and they were expecting a large amount of diners. We arrived at a perfect time because the wait was only 20 minutes. Yaaaaaaasssssss!!! The fireplace outside the waiting room helped a lot especially for this cold weather. Burrrrrrr!!! Finally, we were directed to our table and oh man we got the indoor patio with a panoramic bay view. A perfect dinner with a great view to end the year was fantastic. Of course, can’t forget the fresh shucked oysters. Yum!

Came here for the clam chowder which I must agree is totally AWESOME. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed eating the clam chowder with the sourdough bread bowl. I’m not a fan of eating seafood however after eating this, I’ll be back for more :) As for the fish and chips however, I was quite disappointed. The fish was completely flavorless… I’m not sure what would cause this, but it had no flavor at all. It was not over/under battered nor had an overpowering tarter sauce. The fish was there… And a lot of it… I did enjoy the coleslaw which had a hint of wasabi or horseradish. Fries were nothing fancy. Service was good, but nothing exceptionally different from regular service. Overall i’d comeback again to order the clam chowder and a side salad :)

From the outdoor lounge area, the bar, and the dining area, Fog Harbor Fish House is fancy, and packed with out-of-town Fisherman’s Wharf visitors. They have the best view of the bay with its bigger than life bay windows! The staff was very professional in appearance and provided excellent service. I ordered some fried calamari for my appetizer. It was so delicious particularly dipped in the sauce that was provided. For the main course, I ordered the Ahi Tuna, seared with a sesame seed crust, ginger soy glaze, wasabi aioli and stir fried vegetables. I had a side of rice to go along with that. This place is a tad pricey, but for the price you pay at almost any San Francisco restaurant, I guess it’s considered pretty standard. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the San Francisco area!

Service was great, the food was delicious and the ambiance was really nice. We came here to celebrate a girlfriend’s birthday, but I can see that this restaurant would be a great date-night place, as it has a romantic feel and the beautiful views are a plus! I had a cup of their clam chowder which was very good. We all shared the calamari appetizer which was crunchy and delicious. But, my absolute favorite was my California Crab & Avocado Caesar salad(bacon, avocado, queso fresco, tortilla strips, cilantro leaves, chopped romaine, topped with crab meat). I asked for extra crab meat and they were very generous with it. I did find a couple of shells which was a bit of a turn-off. Their Award Winning Perfect Hibiscus Margarita was the perfect drink to accompany my meal, and it was pretty strong too. I look forward to coming back soon!

Note: My low review only applies if you’re a vegetarian considering this place, or if you have a vegetarian in your party. I came here for a large business dinner, so I was kind of stuck with whatever they had here. I get it — it’s a fish house, it’s not meant to cater to vegetarians, but they could at least try to have 1 – 2 on menu options. Instead, they only have 1 off menu pasta dish and a couple of appetizers. They can also make the salad without meat. That said, 2 stars for excellent, friendly, service. Our waitresses and staff were very nice and the location gives you a great view of Fisherman’s Wharf. If you look back towards the city, you see the skyline and have an opportunity for some great photos.

Normally as a local I didn’t like to be at Pier 39, because of the many tourists and most of the restaurants are very bad and overpriced. But at night it can be are very nice place(most tourists are gone at this time) to eat some dinner if you know where to go! We celebrated our Anniversary and found this nice restaurant. The gave us a nice table with perfect view and everyone was so friendly. We ordered some appetizer and all of them were so good: D Our lobster dish was also tasty, but the appetizer were defiantly are favorite. Next time we will order some more small dishes and don’t order a big main course. We defiantly recommend this restaurant for a special event like birthdays, Anniversaries and more. Not the best place to eat with little children, but for couples or friends a good place to go.

Dine with a view at Fog Harbor Fish House, a San Francisco dining landmark located in the heart of Pier 39. Created by the original developers of Pier 39, this family-owned and operated restaurant is one of the most beloved by locals and tourists alike. You will feel at one with the ocean as you enjoy the spectacular views of San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge, while tasting fresh, 100% sustainable seafood and best cuts of meats. Upon being seated, you will be treated to warm, fresh sourdough that is baked in-house every hour. Start the meal with appetizers like crispy Dungeness Crab Cakes, which are packed with fresh lump crab meats and served with slightly spicy and creamy cajun remoulade. I’d also recommend the Ahi Poke made with marinated raw tuna, avocado, mango, and sesame soy sauce with a drizzle of chili sauce and wasabi aioli. For entrée, you can’t go wrong with any of its expansive selection of seafood, such as the steamed Whole Dungeness Crab served with vegetables and roasted fingerling potatoes.

Chilling winds mixed with brisk temps had us searching for warmth, shelter and clam chowder. I mean, we’re in San Francisco, am I right?! We ended up at Pier 39 /Fisherman’s Wharf not long after our gruelingly mediocre Bartlett Hall experience. We didn’t have much in our stomachs by high noon, which meant the immediate need to fill them with grub hit us in full force. Fog Harbor Fish House appeared to be THESPOT. mainly because we were right below it. and our desperate attempts to eat were dwindling down to a either: wait patiently for a hearty meal or begrudgingly snack on munchies along the bay. We laughed at the snack idea and proceeded to head upstairs towards Fog Harbor. The hostess upfront /outside took our names, then informed us it’d be around a 25 minute wait. Within seconds after our groups arrival, the line became that of a Black Friday sale at Best Buy. We were lucky enough to snag a spot in the little patio section by the front bar, fireplace by our sides, and amusingly watched fellow tourists shiver in those chilly northern California temperatures. Aside from the crowd outside, the folks inside seemed mild mannered and less talkative than I’d imagine a spot like Fog Harbor would be. We were sat at nice corner table with easily one of the best views in the house that was accompanied by a pleasant server. And though I couldn’t verify this, because our spot was visually stunning. it seemed most seats within the restaurant gave a decent glimpse of the surrounding Bay and Pier 39. The décor itself was almost on the classy-scale but in far too touristy of a spot to be labeled this. It looked like every single table had at least ONE bowl of clam chowder sitting atop them, and because it was on our minds prior to our arrival, it was a dish we’d all be ordering without even looking at the menu. Strategy in mind, we ordered regular bowls of Clam Chowder WITHOUT bread as the bowl. because, you know, most restaurants provide COMPLIMENTARYBREAD. so all that excess yeast is simply unnecessary, folks. Unless. bread is yo’ thing. Then do whatcha wanna do, baby. Along with the clam chowder(and free bread) I ordered the Mixed Grill Plate — Grilled salmon, swordfish & shrimp covered in a(buttery) citrus buerre blanc served with sides of sauteed vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. The mixed grill plate was phenomenal. I’m a fan of blackened fish, the taste of the grill and proper seasoning. and everything on the plate was that exactly. Moist yet partially charred swordfish & succulent salmon had my taste buds tingling and the healthy sized shrimp smothered in butter turned my face into a pure gold. Garlic potatoes were creamy and on poooint. I was shining vividly, and it was obvious to everyone in our presence that I was thoroughly enjoying this section of my meal.(My grunts, smiles, giggles, muffled speech, or if I look drunk without drinking, etc.) The clam chowder was, for lack of better terms, doo-doo. Just about every bite had sand in it. Strange. it appeared there wasn’t much clam in my bowl. which made the sand ordeal a somewhat mind-boggling. Because of this, I didn’t enjoy nor finish their ‘Award Winning’ Clam Chowder. I would’ve dipped my head into the Pacific if I wanted to taste as much sand as that. A thin line between a 3 and a 4, Fog Harbor Fish House(through my eyes) may not have the best clam chowder as claimed. but was boosted in a positive direction due to solid /attentive service, views truly pleasing to the eyes and all of our food(aside from chowder) was tasty and fulfilling for our once empty stomachs.

Came for dinner while visiting Fishermans Wharf. I wasn’t impressed with the service here. Food was ok, but not as great as you would expect. We chose this place based on overall rating. When we first arrived, I asked to look at a menu before deciding to be seated. At front, they’re friendly and really trying to get you in. As we decided to dine here, I requested a table by the window. They said they’d get as as close as possible. When we came in, they originally were going to seat us in a booth near the back. There were several tables by the window, so I asked again if we could sit there. The hostess from the front had to come and she said most tables were reserved and others were for larger parties. Ok, fair enough, so I ask for a table one row off. When we were finally seated, our server came. She spoke in a monotone, very quickly, and seemed very serious. No smile, no welcome, no how are you doing. She asked if we had dined there before and after we said no, there was no follow up. So there was basically no point in asking. She wasn’t a bad server, but for a place that is located in a tourist location, I would think servers would be friendly and welcoming. The complimentary bread was average. It was nice to have to dip into the clam chowder, but on its own is average. To eat we ordered a bowl of clam chowder, Shellfish platter for 2, and the crab roll. The calm chowder was probably the best part of the meal. It didn’t have a ton of potatoes, which was good, and overall I liked it. The crab roll was bland. It definitely needed flavoring added. The Shellfish platter for 2 wasn’t as much as we had expected for the price. We decided to get dessert elsewhere. If customer service was better I would have rated higher. For food, I would definitely recommend the clam chowder.
