This is one of the best Goodwill’s in the City. My friend and I were in here for some much needed retail therapy and I spied with my little eye a cool little red lacquer Budda pic in a corner for $ 3.49!!! SCORE! I have always found good barware and serving dishes for parties(my friends get a bit rowdy and I love ‘em for it ;). I also like to give to the cause and they have always been quite accomodating. AHH, the glories of Goodwill…

I drop off bags of my USED clothing at this Goodwill store on Fillmore. It’s a SOULCLEANSING feeling to GIVE without asking for anything in return. It’s a drop in a bucket, but I feel I’m giving back to the city I call home. My mind feels less encumbered when I give to GOODWILL and it becomes clear that this RATRACE isn’t just about ME and keeping pace with the Jones. Giving to my community keeps me CENTERED, humble and more down to earth with a more self-less positive outlook. Truly, it is better to give than receive. (10 minutes earlier at Crossroads — Fillmore St) WHY won’t these snooty A-HOLES buy-back my clothes!!!

There seems to be an over-abundance of wigs here. Which is unfortunate, because wigs are #2 on my anti-second-hand platform, underwear being #1 and mattresses being probably, oh somewhere around #5.

Here’s what you will get if you try to donate a nice, pretty new HP color printer, in the box: «Where did you get this? Is it brand new? How old is it? Are all the cords included? You say its worth $ 300?» Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, a-holes. Next time I will take my donations to another Goodwill store that I know won’t literally interrogate me for trying to *give* them a perfectly good, almost new HP color printer.

I am constantly astounded by the perfectly good things people discard, but I’m not going to ask why. It also amazes me the sheer amount and type of hideous *junk* people will lay down their hard earned cash for. This is the most crowded little Goodwill I’ve ever seen. But you know that Ralph Lauren silk skirt with the blue & green tie dye print you paid several hundred dollars for and donated a while back? It’s now mine and I got it for $ 7. That vintage Cacharel skirt with the little pocket flaps on the front? Mine. $ 6. Best bet: if you’re not usually a thrift store shopper, don’t try it alone. Go with someone who is experienced & knows their stuff. And look things over carefully. There’s often a good reason why it was discarded.
