Stopped here for a beer after work. I think the beer tasted weird and i would encourage the owners to clean the beer lines Appetizers were fine for a $ 3 happy hour

I found a great place to watch a giants game. My friend invited me here for a giants party. The staff was so nice and very accommodating to our group. They had a great selection of drinks. The food rocks! Their wings the garlic and salt and pepper are delicious! Great pub food and they have Mongolian beef chow mein. One of the greatest inventions especially with beer and baseball. They have a ping pong table and that is always fun. They have many TVs in the place. I think this is a great new type of sports bar. Highly recommended!

What do you want in a bar? That’s really the question, not all this to be or not to be garbage. Although that’s an interesting subject to dabble with if you’re having a beer at the GungHo tavern with a philosophically-minded buddy. The benefits of this place: It is not so crowded that we can’t find a seat It is a sports bar with Chinese food(there’s a takeout place attached to it) The happy hour– 3 – 8 pm! $ 3.00 almost everything, from beer to salt and pepper wings, egg rolls, dumplings, rangoons, etc. I had wine, and it was actually really good, and they fill the glass like you should fill a wine glass. None of that pretentious half-full stuff going on here. They are trying hard. They want your business, they care about getting and keeping your business, and it shows. Bartenders are super friendly and accommodating. Oh, and guys, the girl is gorgeous. Not sure if she’s always there, but I believe the terminology is «nice to look at» or «hot.» But I wouldn’t use that terminology on my own, because that would be weird. They have a ping-pong table– which is awesome, and is a segwey into my cons: This place needs the cool factor, and the only cool thing is really the ping pong table. It’s a great layout, great potential, but it needs multi-colored mood lighting, sports and Chinese memorabilia absolutely everywhere. Knock out that front window and put in something you can open to the street when it’s warm enough to. Funk it up! And maybe a jukebox. Anyway, be prepared to bring your own fun, because there’s not a lot to look at here– except for the afore mentioned bartender. I think the guy was pretty good looking too, but I was too enamored with the fact that Coastal Carolina was playing with the big boys to pay attention.

The Ho is still here! We asked Sapporo. They did not have. So, we said, «OK, how about Tsingtao?» They did not get the either. That gave me a ‘wtf?’ mode. So, you know, everything else became background nose. The place is always empty. Filthy tables. You must be so drunk to eat here. That may be the reason why the place is always empty. I’ll go somewhere else to have a drink from now on. I’ll give 3 star for the delivery though, cheap, fast and decent Chinese food. Here comes bad news, talkin’ this and that But give me all you’ve got, and don’t hold it back Well, I should probably warn you, I’ll be just fine No offense to you, I don’t waste my time and money here, here’s why… Because I’m not happy… Don’t Come along if you feel like a room with a filthy table Because I’m not happy… Crap along if you find out they don’t have Sapporo Because I’m not happy… Fxxx along if you know what no Tsingtao beer either Because I’m not happy… get out if you feel like that’s what you want to do

Love the new remodel and new management. Great food with alcohol and with TV’s for my sport-fanatic needs!!! What else can I ask for? How about a ping pong table! Haha… very fun to play while a little intoxicated.

I have been coming in for the last few weeks now — and have been quite impressed with the prices, bar tending staff primarily led by Keturah G. who is always quick to provide a cocktail and the tv selection. Happy Hour consists from 4 to 8PM Monday thru Friday — and includes a $ 3 Appetizer Menu plus $ 3 for Any Draft or Well Drinks served at any time day or night. Overall, the food is tasty — the bar is way less crowded than Bullit or Greens Sports Bar on Polk making watching sports when the NFL Package is not needed an overall breeze.

Delicious and not expensive food. Generals chicken and crab rangoon made my night and the happy hour prices didn’t hurt either! Great place for watching games on tv or playing board games on your table.

The food was pretty average, but what’s more awesome than a sports bar that serves Chinese food? Seriously, how has no one thought of this concept before? Let me get this straight; I can sit at the bar, drink vodka, take shots, watch football AND eat decent dumplings? Where do I sign up? (two of the four stars are for the concept alone.)

Great new sports bar with a Chinese restaurant attached that does mostly take out/delivery but also full menu available to eat in. Tv’s and a great happy hour(4−8pm).

I used to order from this place a few years ago(when it was Ho’s Bar & Restaurant) when i first moved to the city and didn’t know any better. The food was consistently bad(mostly, it was greasy and everything pretty much tasted the same, and it wasn’t a good taste). Decided to try again since they’ve rebranded and, well, it has been about 3 years. The food is still bad(2 stars). They, however, get only 1 star because the guy at the counter refused to honor the price i was quoted online, even when i showed him the receipt for it that was emailed to me. The online order price was $ 1.25 less than what the guy charged me. Yes, it’s a really small amount, but it’s the principle of the matter. If i had paid with a credit card online, it would have cost me $ 1.25 less but because I paid in cash at the counter, I had to pay whatever they quoted me? Perhaps next time it will be $ 5 more according to whim, who knows? And the dude stood there telling me prices change. Well, then change it on the online menu too. Why be so shady? There is probably a reason they needed to rebrand and a reason the place is always empty. Perhaps the new happy hour drinks prices are a deal, but not the food and not the(lack of) service. Not stepping in there again.

Lunch special and price is good. Happy hour specials are even better(bc of the libations). TV’s are great. Pending on who is working, service, and typical restaurant procedure is baffling here. For instance, today’s dining experience, square bar napkins were given(perhaps I was sitting at the high top bar tables), dude has not even asked if I need anything, nonetheless, how my lunch was. I ordered another app bc I am a fatass. I had to scream over the music while he was across the bar at the ordering/POS station. Finally, I said I couldn’t hear him which he must have not heard me or not cared as he didn’t come over within hearing distance. Egg rolls are pretty good though more shell wrapper than meat. If you like Top 40 music blasting loud and ok w mediocre service, come it check out. The specials makeup for the obscurity.

Ho’s had a bit of a makeover and it seems like they are in between relaunching as GungHo Tavern. I am not sure if the menu has changed, as I had never eaten here before. What I do know is they have a really great Happy Hour! Not only is it from 4pm-8pm(no more rushing after work to make it by 6!!), but they have $ 3 specials like egg rolls, salt and pepper chicken wings, well drinks, and all the beers on tap. Expect a very casual bar type atmosphere. The food was better than expected, and we left full without spending much. I like that you can sit at the bar and order food, while watching sports on one of three tvs. This is a good local spot for cheap, but delicious, Chinese food that isn’t totally greasy.

Think dive bar/sports bar/chinese restaurant. I popped in here to change things up during Warriors and Giants losing streaks. They have 5 flat screens scattered across the place, and really good appetizer/food specials on weekdays until 8, which rocks. I was pretty nervous when I first walked in, and there were only two patrons there, not together, one of whom got the wrong order, while the other returned their dish because it was nasty. I asked Jay, the bartender, what the chef does well and the recommendations I ordered(potstickers and orange chicken) were actually really good! The only problem is they only have 4 beers on tap(one was empty which is a sin when you only have four taps), and nothing appealing at all in bottles… lame.

Pure coincidence that we stumbled across this place tonight. Having just finished a full meal down the block, we wanted to find somewhere to finish off both the Warriors and Giants games before heading home(gotta support our teams!). I was honestly captivated by the sign and name of this place, Gungho Tavern, pretty catchy. Had no idea they’re new but so glad we went inside. Turns out this use to be Ho’s, the restaurant where I had catered food from. Thankfully, it’s not your usual smelly neighborhood pub + it’s nice that they serve up a full menu for the hungry patrons. Unfortunately, we were waaaay too full to try anything off their food menu, but this was just a great chill spot for us to chill, grab a few drinks, whine down, and catch the game. It gave off a calming feel too, with the red walls and big Buddha off to the corner. Restaurant side was pretty quiet for a Tuesday night, but I saw a lot of takeouts and deliveries. Bar counter on the other hand had a good amount of people, especially since they had both games playing tonight(extra plus!). Owners were super friendly and chill which made the place more inviting. They were upfront and open, letting us know they’re new in the neighborhood and would appreciate it if we can help them spread the word/bring friends in. I’m all about supporting local businesses so I’d make an effort to come back. Happy hour specials aren’t too shabby either, $ 3 for all wells and beers from 4−8pm.
