Excellent cocktail bar with a neighborhood feel. The bartender was perfect — she had great suggestions on gins to try and the cocktails were all fantastic. So glad this is open in Noe Valley.

I was very supportive of this restaurant until they served me bad crab. The foul odor made me stop my conversation and look down at my plate when served. I then forked a piece and smelled it and was taken aback. The bartender took it back and brought me clams instead. The clams unfortunately we’re sandy and gritty. Not only could you see the sand in the broth, you could feel it in between your teeth. I dealt with it. My dinner companion and I were hit again by the foul smell. We looked to the patrons next to us and saw they he ordered the crab but had eaten everything on their plate except for their $ 17 bad crab. I then turned to the manager and told him I was surprised he didn’t pull it from the menu for the night. He said it smelled fine. I replied why didn’t they eat it either. His response was that they were heading out to another restaurant for dinner and weren’t that hungry. *****SERVINGROTTINGCRABANDNOTWASHINGTHECLAMS = ILLNESS *****POORCUSTOMERSERVICETOWEEKLYPATRONS = NOBUSINESS

Love this place, great food, Courtney gave us exquisite service at the bar with cocktails to match. They do a killer brunch on the weekends as well. The old fashioned her is the best in town. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for great food, cocktails and an awesome vibe.

Last minute dinner for my birthday. The restaurant was clean quiet and enjoyable. But the food was perfect. We had the special steak. The fish and the pork chops. Everyone loved everything

Hamlet was great! The food was tasty, the service attentive, and the setting elegant. My friend and I shared the following dishes: 1) Fried burrata — very tasty 2) Spicy broccolini — good 3) Chicken with ricotta dumplings — delicious! 4) Indian spiced salmon — decent 5) ice cream sandwich dessert — awesome Our cocktails were also quite good — my friend enjoyed her«shiso daisy» and my vodka/grapefruit drink was light and refreshing. The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and patient, and everything came out promptly. The venue was elegant, not too loud, and conveniently located at 24th and Church. Overall, a wonderful new restaurant!

*DISCLAIMERTHATGIVESCREDIBILITY… I am FRIENDS with an Investor that asked me to «give it a shot»…I did but went in ANONYMOUS because I value Unilocal… pure Unilocal…* Ok, the disclaimer being the lead I want to share the goodness that this place brings and according to many in the neighborhood, it was needed. Let me get the rough things out of the way… Yes, the staff was a bit«rocky» BUT I really have no problem with that any time the restaurant is in its first few months. Staffing is the hardest part of «getting it right» and there is always a churn to find the«right people» to respect the product the owners want to share. This place worked hard to bring a good selection of food and drink and I think they did a GREATJOB! I will come back here without hesitation. In San Francisco it can be hard to find places that blend the ambience with reasonably priced food and drink. This is a place I WANT to hang out in. I wish it was closer to my neighborhood but it will be on the list of place to «meet up at». Thanks Kyle Beck for sending me into your new spot. Your staff did great. You product is what you said it was meant to be…“good food and drinks and people without the big ticket…”

Very Impressive Wine List! Clearly well thought out. And from the cocktail list – the Ultima Palabra was an excellent way to start the evening. Love the vibe at this place, inside at the bar or outside on the patio. I’m in SF often for work, and this is my new favorite go-to. So far, apps are great variety, and the steamed mussels are perfect. Hopefully I’ll get to try brunch next time I’m in town.

Enjoyed a delicious brunch this morning at Noe’s newest brunch emporium, Hamlet. My first course was the apple-muffin doughnuts, which are superb on two fronts – both winning flavor(tangy & sweet) and remarkable texture(crispy outside while devastatingly fluffy inside). Next came the two-egg breakfast, with skillfully-poached eggs(liquid yolk encased in medium-firm whites), perfect bacon(¼ inch thick with hints of maple that allow the savory flavor to remain intact), biscuits that have no rival in San Francisco(and I grew up in Alabama, so I set a high bar), But then there was the hash brown… most unfortunately, my hash brown resembled a small, previously-frozen chunk of microwaved-potato confusion. The problem being both the tiny portion and the poor-quality texture. Fortunately, I have been assured that the proprietor remedied this situation – immediately including double portions on subsequent orders and vowing to revamp the frying technique. Management is highly responsive and eager to please. To close my meal, I tried the biscuits«poppers,» and though I would describe them as «bite-sized biscuit sliders», No matter what you call them, they are delicious, a triumphant medley of spice and flaky biscuit with a hint of sweet, house-made jam. The Cocktails are creative, satisfying & effective… and I have tried each one, just to be sure! My favorite is the Automatór.

First, AMAZING music. I was jamming out to 90’s best rap and R&B songs throughout my dinner. I had to mention that first because damn, the playlist was goooood. Next, I didn’t really try any main dishes(except a small piece of steak which was good) because I loaded up on appetizers. The ribs were ahh-mazing! I think my party ordered 4 dishes of ribs(don’t judge us). They were so goooood, not sure what I liked more, the music or the ribs. Also, the shrimp were good and the baby lettuces. I did not enjoy the charcuterie board. My only issue with Hamlet is that they do not have Coca Cola or iced tea — the non-alcoholic drink selection is basically weak. Also, if you have a larger party, like I did, it’s a small space and can be a bit tight.

Hamlet is a great addition to the neighborhood — there are strangely not a ton of restaurant options on 24th St, and certainly not many as good as Hamlet. We arrived without a reservation at around 8:30 on a Friday night. It was packed and there was a bit of a wait for a table but we were able to sit immediately at the bar. We split a number of menu items — the Asian ribs, risotto cakes and the burger. All were delicious, and I particularly liked the ribs. They have a good selection of draft beers and wines by the glass. It’s amazing what they’ve done with the space since the renovation — it’s bright, warm and welcoming. Entrees are on the spendy side(mid to high 20s) but the tab isn’t so bad if you go with the heavier appetizers.

Meh. Disappointing overall, just a tad above so-so. Appetizers were great: albacore crude and the grilled asparagus were perfectly done and had a ton flavor. The burger fell way short; dry and lacking any distinguishing character. Boring ass burger ultimately, I didn’t finish it. Service was fine, décor was fine but food was weak, yo. I say pass.

I have mixed feelings about this place. Granted, I’ve only come in for drinks with some appetizers/snacks(I hadn’t had dinner yet) but I’ve been here enough times now to give a fair review. The best thing about Hamlet are the cocktails; every time I’ve been they have been consistently good. The problem is getting them. On at least two of my visits in the late afternoon, I’ve had to work incredibly hard to get the bartenders’ attention even though the bar wasn’t crowded. On those two times, the bartenders were at the end of the bar talking to a group of their friends and not really doing there jobs. Bummer. I also ordered some appetizers — the charcuterie/cheese plate and the portions were pretty small. The best part was the bread that came with it. Really different styles of bread and well executed. Finally, the interior is just too bare. I know the place is owned/ran by the same people down the street as Cask and the décor is similar. I definitely can appreciate minimalism but it wouldn’t hurt to put some paintings or color up somewhere. It get’s a little depressing in there. Since I basically pass by here frequently, I’m sure that I’ll stop by more times(hopefully for dinner too) but I hope the service improves most of all.

I really want to like this place and I’m almost there, but uggggg… I’m with you Farrah L! So excited to see something cool pop up in my neighborhood. I had two experiences here — one was a 4-star, one was a 3-star. It’s kind of hard to round up when the 3-star experience had to do with service, and you know this snob can’t overlook that. First thing’s first — the food: All in all, I think the food gets a 4⁄5. Dinner is actually pretty good but brunch is better. Not much going on for a vegetarian, but there’s just enough on either menu to make it work. When I came in for dinner on a Friday night, I had the fried brussel sprouts(pretty good, actually), gnocchi(4⁄5 in my book), and a glass of wine. Dinner has a lot of heavy selections on the menu, so you gotta be careful not to overload. Cocktails look pretty great, but I didn’t get to try any — I’m a lightweight. || As far as brunch is concerned, it’s actually a nice selection. The polenta and vegetable ragu is stellar and I would definitely come back for that. Then they also gave us a little bucket of complimentary donuts. Definitely worth a proper order. If you’re looking for tea with your brunch, this isn’t the spot. They have these cheap bags of barely-tea and for $ 3.00 /pop, you’re better off going to Starbucks. Next thing — ambiance: Pretty bare-boned but still a 3 or 4⁄5 — I can’t decide. Nothing much going on but a bar, food, and people. Hard wood tables and a pretty young-ish Noe Valley crowd. Imagine a smaller, less crowded Nopa. Nothing too exciting but works for me. Final thing — the service: Now here’s where I gotta just take it down a notch. I really hate walking into a place and standing at the door, especially when there’s no one inside. That’s what went down last weekend for brunch. We were wondering«Should we seat ourselves?». Then with all this open space, they seat us at the sh*ttiest table in the house, right next to the door. I was like, «we’re moving.» Then the server… I placed my order and for whatever reason, she either forgot or didn’t write it down. So they brought my friend’s food, I was sitting there for 10 minutes before she even came back to check on me. I asked her, «Excuse me, but is my food on the way?» She was like«What food». I go, «the food I ordered!??». She looked at me all kinds of crazy and then goes«oh, you ordered something? I thought you just wanted the donuts.»(meaning, the ones that came to our table for free). Um. NO. I ordered the Polenta and veggie Ragu?! So then it took another 10 minutes to come out. Mistakes happen, but honestly, we could have walked out of there without paying because no one was ever paying attention to us. And our server — whom I believe was either out of it or high — hopefully won’t be serving me again. **All in all, I’m happy that something grown-up-ish popped up in Noe Valley. Just a little more work on service and we got a neighborhood go-to**.

I really wanted to like this place and I came in very excited. The menu looked great: gnocchi, burger, great-looking salad, Arctic char, meatballs, ribs, chicken and ricotta dumplings. Interior is really nice. Easy parking outside. We sat at the bar. No wait on a Friday. We ordered the salad, burger, ribs and burrata. Burger came out rare, even though we asked for it Medium. We sent it back and when it came back, it was cooked more but it was still undercooked. UGH! I didn’t say anything when he asked me how the burger was the second time, I just ate it. I didn’t like the ribs, but it was a very big serving. It took the restaurant awhile to clear our plates as well. I’d come back and give them another chance, but from this one time, I’d say it was pretty disappointing given all of the hype.

Really welcome addition to the Noe Valley neighborhood. For too long cocktails were not something to look for in Noe. Now I have a place to grab a well made cocktail after work without having TVs blaring in my face. The Ultima Palabora is mezcal, lime, green chartreuse and glorious. Every drink has been well made and balanced. Strong but showcasing the liquor in the way a good cocktail should. The food so far has been great. The burger and fries is a standout. The fries really remind me of the golden arches and that’s a really good thing. The pork loin with housemade sausage and fried pig ear was just perfect. The brussel sprouts were ok but I think I am kind of burnt out on then anyways. The gnocchi was a pleasant surprise full of winter vegetables and soft creamy texture. I tried brunch as well and think that while really nice there is some room for improvement. While the pork Chile Verde and eggs was tremendous, the hashbrowns were a bit greasy. That being said, the bloody Mary was the best I have had in town. Great roasted tomato flavor and fresh horse radish. I will be back and am looking forward to outside seating once the weather improves.

Hamlet is okay, but not great. I had the burger for dinner and it was quite delicious. You know how somtimes you get a restaurant burger and it comes with all the standard fixins, but it lacks flavor so you have to add ketchup or mustard to give it some oomph? Well, Hamlet’s burger requires no such adjustments — just good the way it is. On the other hand, the we ordered a combination charcuterie and cheese plate($ 30!?!) which was crazy expensive. It came with 6 slices of meat, 3 cheeses, and 2 jams, and 1 meat spread. That comes to $ 2.50 per slice of meat /piece of cheese /spoon full of jam. Ridiculous. Do. Not. Order. The cheese and charcuterie plate, unless you enjoy being ripped off. Lastly, had a couple of cocktails there. Flavorful and tasty, but a tad watered down. It’s probably the best for the neighborhood, but there are plenty of better places for cocktails in the city.

This is a prime example of the awful place that my beloved city, which I was born and raised, is becoming. Originally Noe’s bar. This was more of a pub style bar. Plenty of beers on tap. Good food. Nice old timey feel. Irish bartender and everything. A few years ago, ownership changed and it became Horners Corner. Décor was pretty much the same, including the old oak refrigerators behind the bar, the stained glass, which read«Noe’s», and the same old worn hardwood floors. Food was still great. The wings were amazing. Pizza was good. A great place to watch a game or hang out with some friends. Now it is known as Hamlet. The owners of a wine bar a block away bought it. Since there is a lack of wine bars popping up(sarcasm), they felt to try their luck with another one. They have utterly destroyed the joints character. The bar… demolished. Very tasteless. The whole place looks like something out of an ikea catalog. The oak. Gone. Stained glass. Gone. Irish bartender. Replaced by a snob. The beer. Doesn’t flow. Only 3 on tap! The food. Small servings and ridiculously overpriced. I will not be going back. Good place for a tinder date I suppose. Or perhaps a group of brogrammers dreaming up the next hottest app. This is a place for the people who take Wifi enabled busses to work. I enjoy a good glass of wine as much as the techies, but why destroy a piece of history for another bland wine bar? It is sad to watch this city turn into a place that caters toward these new comers that have had this lifestyle handed to them. San Francisco is such a amazing beautiful city thanks to the multicultural aspect and diversity that is has to offer. If it loses all its history to make way for more wine bars, hipster coffee shops, luxury condos and startup companies, what’s gonna be so special about it?

Holy Salt! I can handle some salt, but whoa. The service was great. Really nice people and great vibe. The food was pretty and executed perfectly, but for the price, the taste wasn’t there. Brussels sprouts: perfectly cooked but way over salted. Chicken and Dumplings: I had high hopes since I had a comfort food craving and this missed the mark. The chicken was perfectly cooked, but the dumplings were so dense, it was almost hard to cut through. Think of it as a hard dense paste. Burger: Good! Bun tasted like charcoal though. For $ 12, it would be a good burger, but for $ 16… Not so much. Noe’s Bar had a better burger at $ 10. The fries were covered in salt too, but perfectly crispy. We live 2 doors down and will probably never go back. This makes me oh so sad.

To eat, or not to eat: ain’t a question beezy: Better tis SERVICE in the mind than dishes The apps and entrees of outrageous fortune, Or to take forks against a sea of hangers, And by ordering end them?
