Chicken combo bun and the pork and peanut tamale are really good.

I’d go there for the chicken bun every day!!! My boyfriend and I just fell in love with this affordable yummy bakery. It’s as good as Golden Gate Bakery in the old China Town, in our opinion.

Cheap doesn’t mean you can be impatient. Owner is unwilling to provide good quality of customer service just because everything is cheap.

Another good dim sum place on Irving for a quick bite. They have dumplings, buns, and hot food like chow mein and spareribs. I like their drumsticks. Yeah they’re oily but they’re big and tasty… probably from the msg though. A 2 item lunch box w/either noodles or rude is usually around $ 6??? Not sure if they raised the price. Good deal.

Some of the staffs treat Costumers with very pool attitude. I hope the store owner will check your staff behaviors if you wanted customers to be happy to supporting your business.

This is a regular stop for me on my trips to San Francisco! I love how it’s open very early in the morning, and the food is delicious while also being cheap! I’ve had both the dim sum and the lunch items there. DIMSUM They have a variety of items, but I mainly go here for the large buns filled with chicken, chinese sausage, egg, etc. I’m not sure what the exact name is, but it’s the largest bun they have. It’s absolutely delicious and unlike other places, they don’t skimp on the meat. There’s plenty of filling and the buns are huge! LUNCHITEMS I’ve gotten dim sum here for years now, but this was my first time trying the lunch special. It still amazes me that even at 9am, the lunch items are ready to go! I tried this thick noodle chow mein(don’t know the exact name since the dishes aren’t always labeled) as well as the thin noodle chow mien as well. Both were slightly heavy in flavor but still delicious. They also give you HUGE portions. I plan on going back and trying their fried rice and side dishes next time!

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Happy Bakery. I enjoy eating there because they have the $ 5 lunch special that has rice with 2 sides or noodles with 1 side. My experience there today was not as good as usual. I asked for rice, and the 2 sides; sweet and sour chicken and tofu. However, what I got was ¾ rice, a tiny scoop of chicken and tofu. I was disappointed at the terrible portiom distibution. Hopefully next time I go, ill get a bigger portion of sides.

Thank goodness for a dim sum place to be open at 7am, so I can rush in and get me some breakfast before driving all the way to Marin for work. The lady isn’t particularly friendly, but I’m there for the dim sum, not her. My favorites are the beef ball, shark fin gow, ha gow(shrimp dumpling), and the siu mai(pork dumpling). Price is decent. Ample parking at 7am, but other than that it’s a headache to find parking on Irving.

If you’re on this side of town this is where I go to get my cheap dim sum fix. Great selection. Great prices. I buy about fifty dollars worth of stuff when I’m here. Steamed pork buns, egg tarts, Mochi egg tarts, yu taio fried donut, siu mai, har gow, etc.

Found another to go dim sum place, the food was better than GoodLuck Dim Sum. The prices are abt the same. Happy Bakery was closer to me, will definitely go back when I am up for some dim sum…

Two stars may be a bit too much for this place. I’m one who usually have patience for Chinese places considering that I know the culture quite well and Chinese are born to be blunt. Bad services seems to be a second nature to people who work at the entrée side. Truthfully, food is ok but I don’t think I need to spend my hard earned money so they can be rude to me everytime. Do they not understand that their customers are the ones who’s keeping them employed? I asked for a smaller portion of wings and the lady with a pony tail said there’s a minimum. Well, it’s only two more then I asked for and I told her that they used to sell it in smaller portions. She went on telling me that there’s inflation and that they’ll loose money. Well, they just lost my business I told her calmly. She went and started talking about me with her coworker. I told her if she’s going to talk about me, she should at least wait until I leave. She then said that she’s only chatting with her coworker and that its non of my business. Well, I truly thank her for saying that because it will no longer be my interest to walk into that place ever again. By the way, people on the dim sum side is much nicer.

Ordered the egg tart with egg white. It came out warm with the nice fresh flaky crust. Perfect

I think the hot food side is better than the dimsum side, in terms of both selection and quality. Their ha gao(shrimp dumpling) is really good, but bbq pork bun($ 1 each) didnt have that much filling. It was big, but thats about it. Bbq pork turn over wasnt that great either, but the noodle rolls were good. I wouldnt mind coming back, but would probably want to try another place in Inner Sunset. There are so many Asian places here! Do get the chicken drum stick tho. OMG the skin is SO crispy and it is huge! That was probably my favorite thing from here. If you’re gonna try anything from here, I’d recommend the chicken drumstick the most: D

I don’t consider Happy Bakery to be particularly cheap. They sell their food for $ 4.80/lb($ 4.50 plus tax). And yes, they have those lunch specials(2 items plus rice) for $ 5.75 but Hing Wang on 8th& Judah gives you more portions for cheaper. TC Bakery across the street also sells 3-item dim sum at a cheaper price too. With that said, Happy Bakery has a larger and better selection of entrees and smaller dim sum items. They sell at least 6 different kinds of noodles here and some amazing deep fried chicken. My favorite item is the rice rolls cooked with green onions and tons of soy sauce. Overall, 3 stars seems pretty low considering I come here at least once a week. But it’s really not the kind of place I’d recommend except out of convenience.

Don’t come here expecting great service with a smile, cushy seats, candlelight, white table clothed tables. DO come here to get some delicious, moist dim sum and quick service! This is my favorite spot for dim sum in the sunset district! Consistent, favorful shrimp dumplings, chive dumplings, and shu mai. The steamed buns have never disappointed either! For $ 5-$ 6 you can get a filling meal!

The food here is cheap and pretty good. I usually get the chow fun and garlicky green beans on the right side. On the left side, I get the steamed pork bao and the pork sticky rice balls(my fave!). I like that their bao are kind of small because maybe i’m weird, but I feel like the big ones don’t always get the bread to meat ratio right. Don’t bother with the sweet rice cakes here. I’m not sure what it is, but they aren’t that great.

3 for $ 1.90 dim sum! The quality is not as good as restaurants, but for the cheap price its not bad either! Good choice if you just want to get dim sum to-go!

Happiness is subjective. What makes us happy varies: friends. Money. Beer. More beer. Whatever. For me to tell someone else what makes them happy with be rude and I am in no position to judge(outloud, at least). Happy bakery sits happily on irving near my office. I walk by often and smile for a few reasons. Most notable reasons being«$ 4.83+tax for 2 item with rice» printed, in good ol’ American English, on their window. The other reason being their green awning; green = money… Money = beer… Beer = happy ryan. Today, feeling adventurous of all things new and happy, I decided to wear a happy smile and walk into happy bakery. Instead, what I got was a dirty little Chinese food court minus hairnets with a side of ‘tude. I was the only white dude in the place so it must be good! AMIRITE?! Wrong bro. wrong. I got eggplant chicken, what looked like a pork chop and rice. Im not sure who came up with the price of $ 4.83 but they were a genius… because I was feeling cheap but hungry and this did the job. I leave feeling unhappy with a happy wallet and skipped over the my office. The food was what I expected, mediocre MSG infused Chinese cafeteria food. This is where happiness comes to die as you are deemed to be dead tired for the remainder of your glorious work day. Pro tip: happy bakery also doubles as a laxative. How I ate solid food yet still pee’d out of my ass within a few hours still continues to puzzle me. Drank a lot the night before? Come here and pee all that fernet out of your anus… thank me later. All in all. Standard, greasy ass cleansing Chinese grub.

Happy Bakery is located on a busy corner on Irving St. We just happen to walk by and noticed all this freshly baked Bao’s and and cooked food on a Hot table. There were lots of people in line ordering dim sum and pastries. Being the foodies that we are we had to try it, even though we just had lunch at Marnee Thai just next door. We ordered the Chinese sausage bun, black bean pork ribs, the egg custard pastry and the stir fry rice noodles. The quality of the food was not the best but the price was defiantly right. I can see why there is a line
