This place is fantastic, I’ve been going here for years. The ladies behind the counter are no nonsense. Unless you like cold food or poor selection — show up early in the day. A lot of these negative reviewers complaining sound like they arrived later in the day when most of the fresh stuff had been snapped up. Dim sum is traditionally served early and this place is as traditional as it’s authentic. The ladies are all business though a few times when it wasn’t so busy they seemed to open up and were actually sorta chatty. Not surprised by the reviewer who said her Mandarin was spurned — don’t they mostly speak Cantonese in San Francisco? *sheesh*

Ugh what a disappointment this place was! I was walking my dog and I saw a huge line, so I decided to get some dim sum, once I got to the front of the line I ended up getting the beef siu mai, the shrimp rice crêpe, and the chives fried dumpling. I was really excited when I got home(i live very close by), and the food itself was cold, argggg are you kidding me??? I usually go to booming dim sum and there everything is steaming warm(too bad they got shut down). The dim sum itself was below subpar, but I guess the price point is good. If I’m in desperate need of s***y dim sum I’ll probably come back, other than that I have no other reason for coming here. You’d be a fool to wait in line smh. I really wanted to like this place, hopefully it was a fluke.

One of my favorite to-go dim sum spots growing up in the sunset. The homemade sot milk is amazing here along with their cheap variety of dim sums. They also have porridge, Chinese donuts, and other goodies. The reason that they don’t have five stars is that the food is oily but most dim sums are and the line is usually super long. They are also CASHONLY so don’t forget your money prior coming!

All in all, this is the place for standard dim sum in the Sunset. Generally better than driving down to Chinatown and fighting the traffic and crowds. No place really to eat so it’s pure takeout. They generally keep up the offerings throughout the entire day so they don’t runout. The baked cha siu bao is really good with generous fillings. Siu mei and hat how are pretty generous as well and are large sized.

Good place to buy some zongzi and buns in Sunset area. The staff is not particularly nice but the food is pretty good.

Hit and miss here. They dont have the turnaround to sell everything freshly made. A mix of fresh and day old or more items. Shrimp cheung fun(flat rice noodles) were freshly made and good. Steamed char siu bao was decent. Baked char siu bao was old. Chive dumpling old. Chicken in sticky rice was fresh but so stingy with chicken and non existent Chinese sausage. Threw half of my purchase away because it was old. Bottom line is drive 5min more down to Clement st. More selection and competition for a better experience.

Hubby just picked up some dim sum to go on a Monday morning. The food was dismal. Chives dumpling — hubby spat it out. He said it tasted days’ old. Sticky rice in lotus leaf — too much rice and scant amount of meat Baked BBQ bun — gross! I think it was actually spoiled. The meat filling tasted vinegary. Tossed. Steamed BBQ bun — this was actually tasty. Shrimp noodle roll — this was made fresh. Tasted pretty good but I prefer the noodle skin much thinner All in all — won’t be coming back. Plenty of other places to go.

Decent dim sum for the price. I ate in! No English on the wall menu. She gave me 3 free dumplings with peanut and mysterious veggies and said, «don’t eat outside, only inside, they dry on outside.» I thought she meant they taste better in-house. Which is probably also true after a quick microwave. Sticky rice was not bad either. Total bill $ 6.40 for a full tummy. Cash only.

I have found my go-to to-go dim sum spot in the Sunset District. This is not the best dim sum I’ve ever had, but it’s decent enough. You just have to wait in line to order and hope they don’t run out of what you want. My favorite things to order are the Cheung Fun(Rice Noodle Roll) and the Joong(Sticky Rice in Bamboo Leaves) which I am specifically coming back for. The Egg Tarts are okay. I speak zero Chinese so I just point to what I want, and the display windows make that process easy. Decent cheap dim sum… that’s the dream!

We’ve been frequenting this«hole in the wall» for at least ten years. Don’t let the décor fool you. This place has excellent dim sum. I believe they have two small tables, but the majority of their business is take out. With the crowds of nearby Dim Sum restaurants, I find it much easier to take out, boil my own tea and have my own Dim Sum experience! The Dim Sum is good, and the Jook is not bad for a takeout place! Thumbs up for this establishment in the Sunset! The only negative aspect is that the lines can be long on the weekends!

It was Mother’s Day afternoon. I was trying to purchase some dim sum to go. As one of my favorite dim sum to go places. I had always been courteous to their staff. But today, I wanted to purchase some red bean cake. And the regular staff was putting the white sugar cake in my order. I informed her that I want red bean cake three times. She looks at her work station knowingly knows that the restaurant had ran out and still want to put the white sugar cake in my order and insisted that she will sell it to me cheaper. What the hell, lady… I’m not stupid. Honestly if you don’t have an item just say you don’t have it. Simple as that so I don’t have to waste my time writing this. Happy Mother’s Day. You just lost a customer.

Tried speaking mandarin to them because I thought I would get special treatment but nope! They were mean to me as well. :(you might as well speak Latin to them and get the same amount of negligent service. Dim sum was good though. It makes me want to get up early in the morning and go to a small to-go dim sum café before work. almost makes me want to. It’s cheap too! I need to try the other places in Chinatown that have higher ratings now. ahhh maybe those places will have better service and like my mandarin speaking skills. haha NOT! I should probably learn canto.

Still one of my go to spots for tasty and cheap take-out dim sum whenever I am in the neighborhood. Definitely a hole in the wall kind of place, but you know it’s good due to its popularity. Love just about everything they make. My favs are definitely the bao’s(bbq pork buns, chicken buns, egg custard buns), shrimp dumplings, tea leaf wrapped chicken in sticky rice, green onion pastry(always sells out in morning hours), chicken feet, spare ribs, white radish cake, hom-gok, shrimp and beef rice wrapped in rice noodle… Think I got all my favs in there… Very reasonable pricing. Usually a line out the door in the morning and lunch hours. It also helps if you speak a little bit of Chinese, but not 100% necessary.

My friend and I each ordered a plate full of various dim sum items. Unfortunately, they were sold out of what I really wanted(pork buns). The food we did get literally made me gag. Everything tasted the same as everything else, and all of the food tasted rubbery and cold. Nothing was fresh, and the textures were terrible. I enjoy a good dim sum bakery, and most of them have to have food sitting around for a while, but this was on a different level. We did get out of there for only about $ 3.50 each, so that’s a plus, but it’s rare that food is so bad that I don’t eat it. This place only has Styrofoam plates(no paper) and tons of other plastic, so minus points for poor environmentalism. The tables were grimy and small and uncomfortable. Like many reviewers, I wish there was a better dim sum bakery in the sunset, but I’ll settle for trekking up to Good Luck Dim Sum on Clement, instead.

Seeing as how there isn’t enough dim sum pickup competition in the area, that is the only reason why I ever patronize them. Beware as other Unilocal reviewers have mentioned that they will upsell and rip you off if you seem unaware of prices or what the number of pieces each order contains. I suggest checking out your goods before leaving so there aren’t any surprises.

Food: 3⁄5 Price: $ Portion: 3.5÷5 Appearance: 3.5÷5 Presentation of food: 3.5÷5 OVERALL: 3⁄5 Came here and tried their steamed Bbq Pork Buns because I was nearby shopping for groceries and I was starving, just needed a quick snack/bite. Even though it was near the end of the night(5−6pm) the bun was still soft and moist and the Bbq Pork was still decently flavorful. Personally when it comes to Bbq Porn Bun I’m not the biggest fan of, I feel that its the most generic item you can order from a legitimate chinese cuisine place. BUT, to my surprise it was quite tasteful.

Take out business mostly. Good number of assorted dumplings as well as baked goods. If they don’t have what you want out in front, they’ll holler in to the microphone what’s desired.

I entered because I need a cup of coffee. bad luck. no coffee. with hk milk tea but no coffee. my goodness.
