We go here every day on the weekends. Everything is cheap and really good. Bagels, smoothies, and donuts, yum!

My brother and I grew up in this neighborhood and used to sell Sunday newspapers in front of this store!!! I came here tonight, 20ish years later and I’m so happy they’re still good. Open 24hours, cash only. Bigger better menu than before. I’m thankful this is one of the few places here that haven’t gone trendy and decided to sell overpriced organic yuppy, hipster food that only the techies can afford

Great for late-night or early mornings. Wish it was slightly less expensive.

The young guy behind the counter is rude to customers for no reason. Gave hard time to customers before me and when I gave him a $ 50 bill for my order, he refused to take it. His reasoning… «I never seen this bill before!»… A $ 50 bill printed in 1999 you never seen before? Really? In a cash only place?

I’ve been waiting for 15 minutes, for something that should’ve took only 3 minutes to make. My bagel was in the toaster for 15 minutes, the lady was on the phone, and when she was finished. I told her«where’s my bagel» and she said«oh sorry» but it was aight, I’m just mad that there was only 3 people inside the Café. Which I could’ve been done in a minute. Nice lady though, and two stars for saying her saying«sorry».

Happy Donuts is my neighborhood 24hr donut shop. They are always super friendly, their donuts are always delicious, and they are ridiculously cheap. If you are ever hungry after 10pm and in the vicinity of Noe Valley, you need to come to Happy Donuts. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

I was catching a plane back home to NYC at 7AM, which meant I had to leave my house around 4:30 to get there in time. I had a rental car to return, etc. It was the only place near me that was open at 4:30! Miracle of miracles when you’re awake at 4:30AM and you need some serious coffee, which I got! Great place! I will definitely be hitting up Happy Donuts again if I’m ever back in SF.

Donuts are good, but the breakfast sandwiches are the shiznit. Huge and delicious.

When we first lived in SF I would walk to this place once every couple of weeks for the donut fix. When we recently returned i was disappointed with my donut options, so I drove a dozen blocks, or so, to Happy Donut. Having read several of the lower reviews, all I can say is, «I no want friendly, I want donut», and I get a good donut here.

The owner couldn’t be a more unpleasant if he tried. Worst energy. Should move to a different planet.

I try to never leave a negative review, but the guy working last night, who I assume is the owners son, was very rude for absolutely no reason. Pretty sure he must hate his life/parents or something cause he was not happy to be there and made it apparent. I genuinely couldn’t understand how he could be such a dick to paying customers. I asked my buddy and he said he is always that way. The donut was fine. I wouldn’t have left a review one way or the other if this guy wasn’t such a prick.

Came by twice this week, so I can appreciate that Happy makes an above-average glazed donut and the donut holes were a hit with my daughter. Prices are cheap and there’s plenty of seating if you stop by on a weekday morning. Easy on/off from the J Church means this would be trouble if I worked or lived over here(thank goodness, I’m a visitor to SF now since I have moved!).

Happy Donuts is open 24 hours to satisfy late night cravings when my will power is low. Unfortunately, I never seem to succumb to the donut except very late… well after anything with maple has sold out. This is sad for me, because I love maple bars and maple old fashioned donuts. Don’t get the buttermilk bar; it’s a poor substitute and tastes like coconut and fakeness. It’s just bad. The cinnamon roll is okay(but still not a maple old fashioned donut.) Probably the apple fritter is the best thing to get when they are out of the good stuff. It’s sweet, crispy and tastes great. No weird fake flavoring. On Friday there was a cop there getting some coffee. Kinda cliché, but all good. I’m only mentioning that in case you’re a big stoner so you can plan accordingly. There were also some young men(they didnt look stoned) trying to choose from the limited selection and I feel they chose badly(cake donuts with multi-colored candy sprinkle thingies… blech) I was gonna tell them to get the apple fritter but they were in line ahead of me, and there was only one left… and I’m not that nice. Three stars because they never have maple anything when I’m there, and I hold a grudge.

I’ve been coming here for my whole life, and the brief period they were closed this winter was a dark time for the whole neighborhood. City, even. Happy Donuts are great any time of day, but honestly this place peaks around 2:30am, when everything is fresh and everyone is a little bit tipsy.(Except for the taxi drivers and police men?) Ideal location for post-party snacking or accidentally running into old friends. Not going to choose a favorite donut because that is not a decision anyone should have to make. They sell these suckers by the box for a reason…

I’m very disappointed on how the people who work here treat their costumers. I would have left one star, but the coffee was good. The bread and coffee did its fix, but honestly the service here is horrible. I came here with a group of people and one child looking for a place to spend some time together and grab a cup of coffee. They continuously kept telling us to be quiet when obviously there weren’t any costumers, but us. Hopefully, the people who work here begin to treat their costumers better.

Went in, got a coffee and sat there by the window for about 20 min playing on my phone and drinking my coffee. The place must have had 3 other people in it. Before I leave, I use the bathroom. On my way out a very grumpy old lady that I can only assume was the owner told me the restrooms weren’t public and asked me if I was going to buy something. Hello? You didn’t seen me sitting there for 20min drinking your coffee in your empty donut shop? What kind of owner are you?

Their doughnuts are great, but the real draw for me are the breakfast sandwiches. 5 dollars for the best damn breakfast sandwich you can find. Crispy awesome bacon, and they actually USE A FRYINGPAN to cook the eggs! There isn’t a microwave in sight. What more could you ask for? And the people behind the counter have always been friendly

Ordered a cup of coffee and a chocolate old-fashioned before work. They were both excellent and I will definitely be coming back here. There were 8 – 10 different varieties of coffee and I went with Vanilla-nut which I thought was superb. The service was also very friendly and greeted me with a smile and conversation. I would give this a 5 star review except they only had 44-person tables, all of which were occupied by single men in their senior years. It’s fine for patrons to relax at the tables, but I think this place could accommodate more people with two top tables.

My ultimate comfort food at 2am or 6am. Although the staff is not necessarily personable or nice, I could still overlook this fact because of the undeniably delicious and fluffy custard filled chocolate donut and the donut holes! Everything is pretty reasonably priced, and taste pretty decent. I’ve got to say that their custard filled donuts are one of the best I had in my life time. I do not like donuts that much, but this place made me in love with them and turned me into a fatty. My usuals are custard filled donuts and a cup of coffee. Best way to start the morning, or midnight. OPEN24 hours, YAS.

Reviewing this place is really hard for me. I should start by saying the donuts are fairly decent; at like a dollar each you can’t really go wrong. They do cheap sandwiches(with free chips!) which are also pretty ok. The problem for me is that the night-shift staff have always been crabby, unhelpful, and unfriendly toward me. Overall, for me this is a steady go-to for late night drinks and sandwiches, but I get in and get out ASAP and don’t really enjoy the experience.
