Himalayan High Treks

This review is for our trip a while back with Himalayan HIgh Treks, but since
we had such a good first time trekking experience with Effie and team, we are getting ready to have our next trek with them again. There were 5 of us ranging in ages from early 40’s to late 50’s and this was a first time trek for all of us. Effie had arranged a careful itinerary for us at moderate level that was similar to their Everest Essential trip, which included some sightseeing in Kathmandu and then on to Lukla to begin our trek. This was in mid Nov and we were very lucky that the weather was terrific so we could clearly see Mt Everest along our route which included Namche Bazaar and Tengboche. Throughout we had the best guide ever, Amber, and three wonderful porters. Amber is extremely patient and always calm; he paced and acclimated all of us and told interesting stories during our rest times which gave us insight into the culture and state of Nepal. More importantly, although we had a very smooth trek, in the end, a few of us got sick back in Kathmandu and Amber accompanied us to the health clinic a couple of times. Even worst, we got detained after our trip had ended because our connecting flight in Thailand was postponed indefinitely due to political unrest. However, Amber made sure we were able to extend our hotel stay and took us to different travel agencies for a few days until we could secure a flight bypassing Thailand – that level of service was really above and beyond the «call of duty». All in all, we would highly recommend HHT: from that first meeting with Effie, she will make sure the trip works for you and that you have the best trip leader and local guide!

I was in Nepal in November-​December 2010. We chose to go with a 3-​week organized trip through Himalayan High Treks. We trekked the Annapurna Sanctuary route and also visited Pokhara, Kathmandu, and Chitwan National Park. While we planned our trip from home and while we were in Nepal, the HHT staff did a great job for us. They were helpful, courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, supportive, and attuned to our needs. Our trip went smoothly without any difficulties. It was very affordable at about US$ 2000, which included guides, food, lodging, entrance fees, and transportation within Nepal. Himalayan High Treks did a fabulous job for us, and I highly recommend this travel company if you want an organized trip.
