Best plumpest fresh ginger for cheap. I got a piece bigger than two hands out together and it was only $ 0.86! Cash only and they tend to speak to you in Chinese, but they are very nice and helpful.

We’ve been here twice so far. Really good prices and great food. Their«Coffee Short Ribs» are amazing. Really good duck, spare ribs, and roast pork. And very friendly and helpful service. If you go towards closing, you can get some great deals on food(fried rice, noodle dishes, sweet & sour, etc) they’re getting rid of before closing time(they put it in plastic bags and set it on the counter). A must visit in Chinatown!

Saw the duck hanging & went in to ask for the price which was 18 for whole and 9 $ for half – sounds good to us! The guy spoke English well, sorry didn’t expect that & was nice!(Haha didn’t expect that either! Lol, y’all know how it is! Anyways, good flavors and he was nice, checked which skin is the crispiest(I asked him if it was) anyways happy & full. Would be perfect if they can reheat and toast it for extra crispy skin

I meant to post my review regarding the Hing Lung restaurant that was located on Broadway St. My apologies to the owners of Hing Lung company on Stockton St.

I remembered Hing Lung being a dirtier place such that I’ve never patronized them before but I think they’ve cleaned up their act some so much so that I decided to give this Chinese deli a shot. To be fair, I’ve only ordered one item here — my loyalty for roast meats lie somewhere else but I think the fried chicken wings here are decent and a total steal at less than $ 3 a pound. It is weird that you mostly get drumlettes here in proportion to wings plus the pieces seem hastily and messily butchered. With all things said, these are decent fried chicken wings though. While the meat can be tough, it is well-seasoned. I once ordered 2 lbs of wings and they rounded down the price for me. A surprising nice gesture but don’t expect to be friendly with the butchers here. Use of English is minimal but pointing works just fine. As the first deli you hit coming in from the direction of Broadway, Hing Lung might be worth a stop if you want to avoid the crowds along Stockton.

I saw the duck hanging in the window and decided to give it a try. I bought half a duck and 2 chicken wings for $ 8. The duck was fresh tasting and had pretty good flavor. It was too fatty for my taste though. The chicken wing had been sitting out for awhile and was ok. This was a cheap pretty good meal.

Been back to buy their ready cooked items. pork belly w/preserved cabbage — ok, not as soft as it should salt & pepper shrimp — delicious, can pop the whole thing in your mouth without peeling the skin — it’s that crispy beef tripe combo — it has the spleen and intestines unlike most other places — very good beef stew w/turnip — super yummy. not just lean meat and it’s very tender and flavorful. beef stomach — tender

(See pic) I got ½ soy sauce chicken and BBQ pork. They were both very very delicious. I ate them without rice because they were just too tasty. I had some leftover which I then made congee out of it. Still good. They also have temperature hot black bean sauce chicken feet which are mighty delicious as you can taste ginger and other ingredients in them. They also have other half the place selling raw meat which I did not buy anything that day I went there.

At this point, I have bought roast pork from all the take out places up and down Stockton St. and I have to say that Hing Lung is the best of the bunch. The pork has just the right amount of flavor without being too salty. The skin is crispy and not dripping with grease. The meat has just the right balance of lean and fat. They are also very accommodating where others were less so, agreeing to sell me a small portion when I told them I only wanted $ 2.00 worth of meat the last time. Today I ventured out of my ordering rut and bought their barbequed pork cheek(face side :-)) and their cracklings. Both are sensational! I just have to unclog my arteries for the next few days by eating better and by diligently taking my red yeast rice pills so I can have all that porky goodness from them again soon!

So I really wanted to get good duck… So I walked up and down on Stockton st in the china town. I found a store with ducks and BBQ pork hanging. I went in and made sure all the customers were Chinese, then I bought a duck. I was soooo excited to taste the duck and I skipped home. Then, I warmed duck up, sliced it and had a bite… Horrible. Tasted like a BIRD very gamy… Very disappointed and sad. Through it away in the trash…

sanitary… very questionable… judgin’ from the volume of rotation and crowds… assumed food to be equally pump’d out… only non-chinese(non-asians) even near hing lung appears to be tourists takin’ snap shots of the array of trays fill’d with various dishes in the front window display… and ducks and ribs hangin’ over the trays… drippings droppin’ below to the trays… feelin’ adventurous… order couple wings and items off the tray… only to go home and shiver at first bite…*raising the white flag*…the taste of oils and drippings… mixture of meat flavors… stomach churnin’ from the thoughts… unable to take more bites…
