The Best Foods Produce

My dear friend introduced me to her «secret» local produce market, a destination that has become part of her ritualistic Sunday shopping stops. I’m so thankful that she shared this shop with me!
It’s amazing what $ 10 can buy here. The selection is always changing, so I go in with an open mind and sans shopping list. Today in the middle of my visit I became inspired to cook a veggie stew with the items I picked out. My crockpot will be full of goodness soon! Today I checked out with 2 giant reusable grocery bags full of goodies for $ 8.93. Take that, Trader Joe’s.
My review would’ve been 5 stars but they were out of strawberries

This place is a great place for fresh fruits and veggies at an amazing price — its a weekly stop for me. The best finds here are the berries! A carton of strawberries for 1.50?! Incredible. I’ve found blueberries and blackberries here at similar prices in other weeks. Also, the avocados! Depending on the size they can run 1 – 3 for a dollar, but variable based on what they have in stock. The produce changes, so sometimes this run is supplemented with a stop at Safeway as well, depending on what I’m cooking for the week — but a weeks worth of fruits and veggies for under $ 20? Can’t beat it. No credit cards, but they take cash of course, and food stamps. They also have lots of veggies I’ve never cooked with before (and won’t try to name) :) Everyone here is friendly, even though it can get a bit crowded!
Here was this week’s haul — for $ 17.74:
2 heads of romaine
2 small leeks
2 stalks of celery
2 small heads of broccoli
4 small sweet potatoes (yams and white sweet potatoes)
3 avocados
2 cartons of strawberries
2 lemons
1 jalapeño
1 large carrot
1 large onion
1 bunch cilantro
3 large gala apples
3 plum tomatoes
5 cloves of garlic

At the corner of Broadway and Stockton Streets is Best Foods Produce. You can’t miss the outside displays of vegetables and fruits as well as the ones inside the store. Not only do they carry the traditional Asian vegetables, depending on the day, you can get some other non-​Asian vegetables such as zucchinis, artichokes, avocados, red and green lettuce, roma and regular tomatoes, sweet potatoes and even purple yams. Depending on the time of year, the selection of fruits ranges from oranges and apples, to strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, mangoes, bosc pears, peaches, nectarines, cherries, lychees and dragon eye fruit. In their refrigerated section, they carried several brands tofu, soymilk, and fresh packaged noodles and wonton skins.
Overall, given the amount of store choices in Chinatown, Best Foods Produce serves as a good choice it selection of Asian and non-​Asian vegetables and varieties of fresh fruits. Oh, and if you’re feeling lucky, you can get your lotto and scratch off tickets here as well.

I was just visiting the area last week ⁸⁄₁₃ and I stumbled into this place. I found a wide variety of very fresh looking vegetables some of which I’ve never seen before (and I’ve been to many Asian produce places all over). The staff did not speak much English but were friendly and everything had a price. The signs were mostly in Chinese. I loved this place and will definitely return. From the few other reviews, I’m looking forward to exploring the many other places in the area.

Best Foods Produce was super buzzy and busy years ago. one can tell by the nitpicking shoppers jamming the food stalls and obstructing the way of passer byers on the sidewalk.
this is no longer the case. Best is just an average store now with average prices. better prices can be found further down stockton street..

Used to come here regularly for veggies and yee mein but I have since found other locations that carry better selections and quality of both.
Still visit at times to pick up items as needed.

Everyone this Boss Here is Super Crazy!!! They are selling Ruined FOODS!!! they should change it Name to THE WOrST FOODs ProDuce!!! They Mixed the ruined one into to Good one!!! The Boss Forced you to buy the Bad ones alone with the good one!!! This will lead you food poison if you dont look and cook!!! IF you and your family want to eat healthy!!! DO NOT BUY From THEM!!! We DO have consumer’s RIght! ONCE you get into this store!!! ITS LIKE your are under THE OWNER right!!!

omg, the produce @ this store is so effin good, you can’t beat the price. you have to approach the staff delicately otherwise you will experience a completely different level of customer service.
