Everyone was nice but the ambiance and quality of food was not that great. Skip. Now I need to find something else to eat. :/

Really disappointed with the food. I ordered the Mongolian Beef with rice and I tell you, NOFLAVOR whatsoever! First, the menu describes it that the meat is in a spicy sauce. There was nothing, none, zero. I had to ask for the sriracha sauce in order to get flavor. I friends ordered their food and had the same feeling, no flavor. My friend ordered spicy chicken, nothing. No flavor. I won’t come back here. There has to better Chinese food. I give it three stars because it was cheap and the service was not bad and you do get a lot of food. Vegetables were good too, not over cooked like most places do. They were friendly and food came out super quick. The good: cheap, lots of food, pretty good service, food comes out fast The bad: no flavor in food.

Large portions and tasty value rule the day here. The food tends to be a bit greasy, but is otherwise they have mid-large portions that are well flavored with little to no MSG. They have a take out combo that is a great value. They also have a dining area bit it is a bit grimy and the tea is watery.

Worst chinese food ever. Take out and sit down. No idea why I put myself through it both times.

Get your greasy Americanized chinese food right here. Always heat your food to 160′ before eating. Warning RAW chicken!

Worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. We came in and were initially ignored. Then we were seated and our order was taken by an angry Asian woman. 2 tables of Asian people came in about 10 and 20 mins after us, ordered after us but were served before us. We got the grossest egg rolls ever, tasted like old greasy pork sausage. The potstickers were flavorless and fell apart and came with 2 drops of vinegar(NOT gioza sauce, just vinegar) I should have taken a pic of the sauce it was this tiny bowl with literally like 1⁄8 teaspoon of sauce. The egg rolls came with nasty bottled sweet and sour sauce. Nothing on the menu looked good and it was all over priced and they had no lunch plate options, since we didn’t want tons of food for lunch we jsut ordered seafood chow mein. The noodles were hard and flavorless, there were 4 shrimp and a few scattered pieces of mangled scallops(dim-size pieces of a gross old scallops) and 2 pieces of hard chewy squid. I asked the server if 4 shrimp were standard to an order of almsot $ 9.00 chow mein and she said yes. Such a rip off. Also I informed her that the noodles she brought were not the type we ordered and she argued with me that I didn’t know what I ordered. Our bill was over $ 22 for shitty chow mein, a couple horrible egg rolls and a plate of gross potstickers. I came home and immediately threw up from the gross food and the equally bad service.

Since my last visit, I’ve been there a few more times. The lunch buffet *looks* freshly made at noon(My previous visit was at the end of the day). I haven’t actually eaten from the buffet, just looked at it. The food from the menu is pretty decent. I like their Westlake beef soup(lots of egg and a tiny bit of real crab meat for flavor) and prawns with snow peas. And kudos to them for serving brown rice. True, this isn’t the best place in the city and the décor still isn’t very nice. But the quality is consistent and the price is right.

In a city with so many food options — and so many Asian food options, in particular — Hong Sing is the sort of place that will make you ask yourself some pretty heavy existential questions: Why am I here? What is this place? Why does it exist? What is it doing here? Who am I? I like ontological self-analysis as much as the next guy, just not when I’m trying to find some decent fried rice. The food might not actually be any worse than New Ming’s or other fast food joints, but the space is so depressing you won’t be able to tell.

Hot and sour soup was neither traditional nor tasty(canned products with the exception of the tofu). The beef chow fun was mediocre at best, with very little beef and lacking much flavor. Fortunately, it was not very greasy. The wait staff was friendly and the service was good. Prices were decent, but we still felt we overpaid for what we received. Our biggest complaint is when we asked things ‘to go’ they whisked our food away and came back with significantly smaller portions than what was on our plates. If it weren’t for that, this restaurant would be 3-star.

There are a lot of Chinese restaurants in San Francisco, but not a lot in the adorable but somewhat isolated Glen Park. You want Chinese in this neighborhood, Hong Sing is what you get. Thankfully, it has a nice location right by the BART and bus lines. Hong Sing is a cute little family-feeling restaurant, with nice servers. The food came quickly, and the service was warm and caring. I immediately felt like they were trying to include me in the restaurant. However, the food at Hong Sing is typical mediocre Chinese food. The prices and food quality are on par for typical Americanized Chinese-style food. We got a lot for our money, with tons of leftovers that gave me lunch at work for two days. But was the quantity as good as the quality? Unfortunately, no. If you don’t want to leave Glen Park and want Chinese, you can eat here, get full, and experience the homey atmosphere… but there are definitely better spots in the city for Chinese.

Good, standard American-Chinese food at good prices. Huge serving sizes! Would definitely go again. It feels a little like eating in a cafeteria, but for lunchtime it’s a great stop.

I should tell you but I love this place. I avoided it for years, never eat food out of a tray, unless you are at a bad wedding or high school reunion. My friend dragged me in here and it was very good and very cheap. They make their own wontons, real ones, not fried dough with a dot of «meat.» Try their wonton soups, pot stickers, very gingery, broccoli beef, foo yong, and the cheese crab puffs. I pass on the fried prawns, too salty for me, but prawns are great in everything else.

We found a parking place so decided to eat in this neighborhool — and ended up at Hong Sing. No décor to speak of, but it looked clean enough. We ordered Pork Foo Yong, Salt Baked Prawns(aka Salt & Pepper prawns at other places) and a dish with bean cakes, mushrooms and lots of veggies. I passed on the Foo Yong, as it had too much gravy for me. The prawns were perfectly done. And that dish with bean cake(or was it tofu?) was wonderful, according to the friend who scarfed it right down. There was a modest amount of leftovers, whch we took home. With a very generous tip, it came to $ 30. I’ll go back one of these days and try some of the other dishes that looked so good.

My friend and I needed a fast and cheap meal before a show at the Cow Palace so we decided to try this place. We ordered the beef wonton soup with noodles, yang chow fried rice and spicy pork egg plant. I found the beef noodle soup odd since they used slices of beef like the ones you would find in broccoli beef-not what I’m used to. The other two dishes were fine. There was enough for us to bring home as well. It came out to about $ 23 so not bad. However, the service was lacking. We had to call the server over a few times when we needed anything. All in all, not a bad place to go for a quick cheap meal. Expect to bring home some leftovers as the portions are a little big.

The waiter was really nice, the tea was free-flowing, the meal wasn’t greasy, and the broccoli was quite green and fresh HOWEVER the white meat chicken was a WWWWEEEEIRD texture. Like horrible. And there is no ambiance to speak of. I wouldn’t go back.

I grew up in the Glen Park area. My fam still lives near Hong Sing. It has some of the best chinese food around. My favorite dish was Chow fun, still one of my favs, but i’ve expanded my horizons since living near Glen Park. I like almost everything i order here still. After a long day at work its cool to get a combo plate to go to. Yeah, it is a greasy spoon spot, not a place to impress your first date, this is a single guy’s spot for good food or in my case a quick lunch with Pops aka the ol’ man. Had many a convo about the lastest… how i’m not putting enough in my 401K… and how I spend to much money on bulls***. Gotta love it.

First thing you see once you walk in is the already made to go counter. They offer everything from steamed and baked pork buns to chowmein and main courses. The good news is that if you live in the area, it’s quick, good, and cheap. Here’s the kicker, the food in the front doesn’t compare to the food ordered in the dining area. I have no idea why? Here are a few examples. 1. The front has chicken wings which are just ok. Have a seat and order the chicken wings and they are in my opinion one of the best and tastiest chicken wings I have ever tasted. Strange, but true. I definitely challenge this opinion to any other Unilocalers out there. Wish I could tell you why, but it is what it is. Try it, and share your thoughts. 2.; Chowmein is the same. It’s almost like 2 different cooks? Order a typical chicken or pork chowmein from the restaurant and compare it to the take out counter. 2 different cooks? Most important, disregard the menu they give you when you sit down. Order from the sign on the wall. There’s about 10 items that range from fresh steamed fish, pea shoot sprouts, chicken with brocolli, and others. This special menu hasn’t changed in over 10 years. I think they wrote on the board, hung it, and never touched it since. You’ll see what I mean when you go there. If you like vegatable dishes, order the PEASHOOTS, it’s on the board! To sum it all up, this is SF’s finest hole in the wall, hidden treasures.

How forgettable is this place? Well, I couldn’t even remember the name of it *while I was eating there*. I just knew it as «that dingy Chinese place hidden behind Tyger’s». And no, Unilocal did not give me any indication that it would be particularly good. But, having been to all but a few of Glen Park’s eateries, I figured why not shoot the moon? Besides, if the housing market ever does bottom and I get a cute cottage in walking range of the BART station, I’ll want to know the nabe inside and out, warts and all. Ok, right, the review. Ryan U pretty much has it covered, but here goes: an authentic Sunset dive this ain’t. While it makes a run for possibly the drabbest beige interior I’ve ever seen, the take-out bins in the front weren’t exactly encouraging, food-wise. And sure enough, both the kung pao chicken and veggie foo young were basically heaping piles of mediocre ingredients drowning in a dull brown sauce(especially tragic on the latter, which would have been pretty good were it not so soggi-fied). On the other hand, there is a focus on portions and lots of ‘em – it’s 2 meals for the price of 1, really. So plan on leftovers. PS: I never thought I’d be *more* critical of a place than Nobu K, but there’s a first time for everything. On the other hand, I didn’t try the potstickers.
