Umm, absolutely NO stars for the 2HR on hold on the phone and then get hung up on! The 1hr WAIT at the office all awhile there were 6 ppl in cubicles n only 2 ppls were working! 5 stars ONLY goes to Miss Judy cubi #4 who was SO patient and informative with all my q’s. Her customer service was on point n she def needs a RAISE! If u really need to go to the office, ur best bet is to go VERY FIRST thing in the A.M.

11 desks (stations) and only one is staffed in the middle of the afternoon (2−3pm). Once I was seen, I got quick, helpful service, but the wait was agonizing.

Is there a page for their phone service now because I have been on hold for three hours now after my first call the lady put me on hold to check my account and got hung up on and had to call them back and now I’m still on hold and it’s been an hour and a half. The worst service and wait time I have ever encountered. So please direct me to anything or anyone to file a complaint about their phone services. This is ridiculous. I have two photos to prove how frustrated I am being on hold. One photo show my first call before getting hung up on at 10:30am. The second is how long I have been on hold for the second call, oh and counting since Im still on hold. The hold was supposed to be 15−30min. It’s an hour and 45min now.

I screwed up and didn’t file my taxes. I paid them, I just didn’t file. Mom died. Mourning and dealing with all the estate stuff was just overwhelming and honestly my brother did most of the estate stuff.
What did the IRS do? Scary notices? Yes. Threats of tax court? Yes. In the end they made me file my taxes. That was it. Thanks for treating me with such civility.
Am I bu** kissing? No, the account is an avatar. I’m just thrilled that they were so reasonable.

the whole office only one person is working!’ Like seriously!!! More than 10 people are waiting and only one person is working! I don’t know what other workers are doing, just sitting in front of their computers!

American horror story. One of the worst experiences in my life dealing with this «office ». The African American woman who works there is also another horror story, instead of helping me out, she literally yelled at me and was extremely rude. Very negative and defensive. The ugliest part of my visit was a negative comment regarding that English is my second language

So after all the horrific reviews I was dreading taking my family of 4 children and wife up for us to submit our return as well as obtain ITINS for the rest of my family. We actually live much closer to San Jose but the reviews for that location are beyond terrible so we got up early and headed up to SF to try and arrive and queue up.
Well we didn’t get there right on time (it opens at 8:30am but I think we arrived closer to 9am after parking etc) but there wasn’t a single person in the security line. VERY friendly security staff that chatted with the kids and reminded them that the process was similar to flying (which they love)!
We walked into the IRS office just around the corner from security and there was 2 other people waiting in the large, comfortable waiting area! Admittedly this was mid-​October and nowhere near any tax dates but what a pleasant surprise! We took our number and settled in but it wasn’t 5−6mins before our number was called. We had a really nice gentleman who gave my kids crayons and paper while he verified their passports etc and then suggested my wife take them up to the 2^nd floor cafeteria for the rest of the ~15−20mins he needed to process the paperwork.
All in all from arrival to walking out the door it might have taken 30mins but 20mins of that was how long the paperwork took to validate. Its a great setups, clean/​comfortable and everyone was very friendly.

Had to personally visit the IRS regarding a letter I had received about 3 months ago.
From reading reviews concerning other IRS locations, I was expecting huge lines & mass chaos but that was so very far from the case… not sure if it was b/​c tax season is over or it was the middle of the week or what was going on but the place was deserted… & I certainly wasn’t complaining!
I arrived 1 hr before the office opened b/​c I was totally paranoid I might be waiting in line for hours, so wanted to ensure I was among the 1^st assisted (they do NOT accept appointments!) Little did I know I’d actually be the very first there! Score!
In fact, the guards at the Fed Building were joking that I could get a coffee or at least they hoped I brought something to read b/​c I was going to be there awhile
Another couple showed up 30 min after I did & then 2 more people right as the office opened. No chaos, everyone calm & non-​stressed. There was plenty of support staff there & we all were assisted at the same time
Comfy chairs along the wall outside their doors helped to make the wait-​time more pleasant for sure — once the doors open, you go to the counter, tell them why you’re there, they’ll assign a number, then go over to the «inside» set of chairs & wait for your number to be called (much like the DMV except this was so much more efficient)
Unfortunately I did not get the answers I was looking for about my letter & still need to wait for them to follow up but I felt they did all they could w/​the info to which they had access & as far as personally visiting this location, I was a fan
