I had a chicken sandwich here once. It was alright. Not the best I had but ok.

Terrible delivery experience. I would never eat here again. I was told originally 45 – 60 minutes for delivery and the food hasn’t come and we’re 3 hours after my order. I called after 1.5 hours and asked where the food was and they said wait 10 minutes and it will be there. After 30 minutes I called back 3 times and no one answered. No food, no returned call. Don’t eat here. This is ridiculous. Go to Roam or Umami. Far superior burger and all around experience.

Ordered some burgers last night and the meat was burnt on all three! The onion rings, fries, and smoothies were good though.

I ordered here through Eat24. While we were ordering the food, Eat24 told us the delivery time would be 45 – 60 minutes. When the order was confirmed, it told us it would be a 90 minute wait. We decided that is too long and tried to cancel the order through Eat24. We had no response from Eat24 so I decided to call the restaurant. I asked to cancel the order and the person on the phone told us the cancellation has to come from Eat24, so I hung up and sent a message to Eat24 to cancel and left it at that. That would not have been an issue if that it was it, however, the restaurant calls me back a few minutes later and tells me that our order isn’t actually going to take 90 minutes, instead it would be less than an hour. I was pleasantly surprised, but being a bit skeptical, I asked him if he was 100% sure. He said yes, absolutely. So I told him to go ahead and run the order through and to not cancel the order. I immediately messaged Eat24 again to not cancel the order. An hour passes and I start getting worried, I call the restaurant back and spoke with the same person that called me to convince me to not cancel the order and he tells me that the order has been cancelled from the get go and puts me on the line with the manager. The manager tells me the same thing and says he doesn’t know what’s going on because he just got in. I then called Eat24 and they tell me they never sent the cancellation through because of my 2nd message. We end up with nothing to eat after waiting more than what we originally would have waited. To add salt to the wound, Eat24 still charged us full price. I guess this is a bit of condemnation for both Eat24/Yelp AND Jacob’s Diner. The entire process was horrendous from end to end. I have to give these guys 1 star because they went out of their way to convince me to not cancel, then ended up canceling it on their end anyway. If they’d just left it as is when I asked to cancel, none of this would have happened.

Not great. Staff were not happy with their jobs and not competent to work around food.

Super friendly staff and accomodating kitchen. What made an impression– worker forgot to bring me a fork for my salad and when I asked for it, they *literally* ran to get it for me. I didn’t need it that quickly, haha, but it was a nice display off their commitment to the customer. I got the Anaheim sandwich, add chicken, and it was delicious. Ingredients were fresh and food arrived quickly.

I ordered through eat24 and the food came faster than expected arrival date, so that was a perk. However the person who delivered(very nice) forgot 2 parts of my order. The food was alright, but I wouldn’t recommend ordering through the app.

The best service, friendly staff. Great menu $ 5 burgers! Can’t beat that! Conveniently located behind holiday inn hotel, no need to overpay at the hotel. You will feel right at home!

This is the first time I’ve eaten at Jacob’s and I’m impressed! I got a smoothie and a superfood salad to go. I think the smoothie was a lil too sweet for my taste — not sure if they put extra sugar in– but the superfood salad was crazy good. It was way more than I could handle! Absolutely worth your money.

First time here. Awesome, friendly staff and really good burgers. I had a hefty burger with a big grilled jalapeño stuffed under the bun. They accommodated to my girlfriend’s allergies after she had already ordered the veggie burger(has corn inside), and happily replaced her meal. Thank youuuuuuuu

Let me start by saying that the people running this place are very courteous and try to be helpful. Overall great service. Hence the 2 stars. The food unfortunately is pretty bad. In a way, this place is masquerading as a ‘healthy’ joint. Frankly it’s far from it. For example, I saw them pull out a bag of generic frozen sweet potato fries bag out of the freezer and go right into the deep fryer. Tasted just as bad as it sounds. Nothing’s really made here to be ‘healthy’ or ‘fresh’. It’s basically your around the corner fast food joint. They don’t necessarily specialize in burgers either. They have large portions. That’s really it. They really don’t know the difference between well done, rare or medium. A burger ordered medium rare was pretty much a well done dry piece of rubbery patty. The veggie burger was again a frozen straight out of the freezer patty. I’ll try this place again a few months. Hopefully they pay more attention to the food they are serving and they stick around. For now try Roam, Unami or Pearls for a real burger joint.

Not that welcoming of a café, I believe they’re active on EAT24 as I saw the cashier take an EAT24 order while checking me out. I don’t think I’d come here for much, except their well-priced, fresh, delicious smoothies! Definitely worth a visit, even though they’re on the edge of funky Polk street

I work grave shift in the financial district in SF… I’ve ordered from here at lease 5 times in the past 8 months and 2 of those times, my food was decent! The other 3 times including this late night/early morning order I got tonight, was FREEZINGCOLD food. Fries stiff cold! Burger was so cold, I could peel the pepper jack cheese off, throw it at someone and hurt them! If you do decide to get food from Jacobs, I would suggest you dine in instead of ordering delivery. You WILL feel like you wasted money.

Just Destroyed a «Jacobs Combo»!! I mean I literally smacked down the Burger in like 5 mins. I wouldn’t think an area like that would have a quality Piece of meat like that. They cook exactly to your order & You the valued custie(customer) asks it to be done. I like my burgers«Extra well done» and usually fresh Burger places seem to think that means Exrta dry! Lol but here it was still Juicy without any pink! Holla at em ASAP. Bemajer Da Real One

With the bright light décor, this new diner can easily be mistaken with a frozen yogurt place. This place also fooled me too. Nevertheless it is a great addition to the area with already a heated competition of good eats on Polk Street. From the menu, the new diner offer burgers as one of the popular items. And one of the burgers has a combo meal. For $ 10.00, the Jacob’s combo meal has a thick grass-fed beef patty, melted cheese, grilled red onions, lettuce, and tomato in a puffy seeded bun. I also get a handful of fries and a canned. This is a very good deal. The burger is juicy and cooked to perfection. My meal: As I was enjoying my meal, I was continuing to browse through the menu. Among the items that are served are sandwiches, salads and blended beverage made with fresh seasonal produce. EJ was very cool and assisted my needs when needed. And with the friendly hospitality and service, expect another visit to try the other food soon.

I was super excited to try this joint because of all the awesome reviews & it’s down the street from me! I have walked by this place going home and it looked very clean and new. I might have come on a bad day… The cook/owner? seemed very frazzled and his staff were a bit disorganized. There was some quarreling in the open kitchen that made it very awkward to be there as well :(I felt so bad for the only guy working there because he was clearly stressed! For $ 20 dollars, my turkey burger + my bf’s regular beef burger + garlic fries were very mediocre. The meat in both burgers were good, but nothing special. For almost $ 8 per burger I was expecting something better than a fastfood burger or the other burger chains in SF. There was barely a squirt of ketchup on my bun and it felt a little sad seeing my teeny dried up melted but re-hardened piece of american cheese. The fries were a big let down as they were soggy. There was a good amount of garlic add on to the fries but the softness was unappetizing. Seemed like the potatoes weren’t soaked in water(to remove starch) before frying. I know this place just opened, so maybe the kinks will be worked out! The owner?/cook was very nice and seems to be very passionate about his business, but a bit understaffed and disorganized.

Time: 12:37pm/64° mostly cloudy Purpose: Got a call from near by client actually just across the street. Found parking right out front display official business permit off I went. Ambiance: Nicely decorated with off white warm welcoming color scheme resemble the San Antonio deco with matching floor tiles. Have about 4 tables inside with 4 seats, 6 counter seats and 3 – 4 front facing window seats. Most items on display relates back to the golden age when copper was big. Concept here is homey feel with modern day eccentric twist. The marble counter looks and feel expensive as it was solid, I hurt my knuckles too. You can hold average conversations here without raising your voice. Expect a little differently when lunch time hits. Staff: Young lady of mixed race and a taller guy with dark circles around eye. I was afraid to say or ask how his day was going, didn’t want to piss him off so I just sat a waited. Later I learned his appearance was normal as he didn’t do anything to indicate having bad day. Both worker was friendly when I ask a question about the ingredients the guy steps in answering on behalf of girl. Cleanliness: Grade A, clean no complaints. Eats/Drinks: A watermelon smoothie $ 4.50 and chicken salad $ 9.50. The girl makes the juice with precision as I watch on the guy does my food. I got the drink first and waited. It was delicious not too cold or sweet as with watermelons we know how sweet it can get at times, there were small pieces of purée. Now the salad was good also as I had these small strips of like fried won-ton noodle like pieces sprinkle on top. Grated cheese with tender chicken breast and ranch dressing really gave it a attention for details. I wanted to snap a picture but people were all around, skipped it, trust me get the salad. Products/Services: Burgers, fries, salads, soups, sides, cold/hot drinks, 4oz/8oz patty choices. Limited menu options for now, over heard chef telling customer he promise to have more in the following weeks ahead. Vegetarian options is limited or near none depending how on what you want. Punch Lines: Polk street, street parking(meter), bars/pubs, restaurants, transportation muni, cafes, specialty shops, car rental, auto shops, cable car line, salon, hardware store, liquor/smoke shops, lingerie. Freshly made to order, friendly staff, wait time a little longer during lunch, fresh juices, comfy but hugging seats. Tradeoffs: Just a average diner with all cooking done out of kitchen in plain site for wooing. The decorations will have you thinking of what and why, to pass time as you wait. Final Thoughts: Polk street has been the topic of most talks lately especially with bike lanes being implemented. Let’s hope JD will hold on as long as possible and not let new renovation discouraged people from trying. Come if you want to see your food cook in front of you and have a nice chat with chef.
