Jacqui Rowley Private Yoga Instruction

I took a class with Jacqui at Yoga Tree in Hayes valley and I loved it. She had great energy and flow to the class with informative corrections and assists. I would definitely recommend her class to anyone and it’s great for all levels.

After my first yoga class with Jacqui at Planet Granite I am hooked. She tailored our class to exactly what we asked for, and it felt like a private session even though the class was full. Jacqui had us try some moves that I had never done before, from different stretches, to ab exercises, and made that class really special for me. She is super sweet and I will be attending many more of her classes.

Jacqui is hands down the best yoga instructor I have ever had. Her ability to communicate with her students in unlike anything else I’ve experienced. She has an amazing ability to describe little micro-​adjustments within poses that have helped me progress with my practice tremendously. I especially appreciate the various options she gives her students throughout the class based on «skill level» and your energy that day, always giving you an option to rest or really push yourself. You can also tell she really enjoys what she does and cares about her students, always asking if anyone has injuries they are working with & changing her class on the fly based on special requests. If you are looking for a fun, challenging class for all levels, definitely check her out.

Jacqui is a one of a kind teacher that takes her time with each and every person in her class. I’ve been going to her classes at Planet Granite for almost a year now and look forward to every Tuesday and Thursday. Keep up the great work!

So hard to describe all the ingredients that make Jacqui awesome… Jacqui is warm, caring, easy to connect with and always wearing a smile. Her classes showcase long, creative sequences that make you forget that she has an agenda to make your legs and core soar the next day (in a good way!). Jacqui is attentive and instructional with her training, and she is always responsive to special requests to focus on in a given session. Her voice, music selection, and tempo during class are soothing and you always leave feeling like 90 minutes of yoga is the cure to everything.

Jacqui’s teaching is exceptional.
Jacqui provides concise, detailed alignment instruction. I’ve practiced yoga consistently for over 15 years. I still learn new, important aspects of how to do postures correctly from Jacqui.
Each of her classes is different. The variety and new postures keep the class fresh. She offers multiple variations of certain poses, challenging students of all levels. Jacqui’s pace is moderate, but a consistently moderate pace for 1.5 hours is a total workout.
Even in large classes, she can help you by noticing subtle corrections to your alignment. Remarkable how such a small position or weighting correction changes how the muscles are stretched/​worked.
Jacqui’s cheerful personality and pleasant voice make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.

I’ve previously done yoga at Planet Granite and at home with P90x before but wasn’t really hooked until I attended Jacqui’s class. She somehow made yoga more challenging but possible. With Jacqui, there’s more to the asana (pose) than what meets the eye. She points out which muscles to isolate in order to do the pose correctly. She shows everything step by step and offers options and alternative to the forms/​poses. Jacqui explains the benefits of each positions and how to do them safely and properly. The best thing for me is how she enunciates all of her instructions with clarity coupled with her South African accent which adds to her charm.
I think anyone who tries her class for the first time wouldn’t be disappointed. You might even end up as a regular at her 0430 classes.

I’ve been taking a couple of Jacqui’s classes at Planet Granite for a couple months now, and she’s my favourite instructor. She’s friends with nearly everyone because they always come back to her.
She’ll start off by asking about any injuries /​any particular areas you want to work on. She’ll then ask you to set a goal for today (and will later ask you to reflect on it). Yesterday, we focused on shoulders, and although it felt like one of her easier workouts, I feel infinitely sore this morning!
Until I started taking classes with Jacqui, I hated yoga. I only took yoga because I knew that I needed to stretch outside of running and lacrosse. BUT Jacqui changed that for me. She makes class fly by quickly, and I’m not counting the clock when she teaches. She articulates every move and breath so that you can go through an entire class with your eyes closed. As a law student, I’m a stereotypical Type-​A /​high strung /​super anal type of person, but through Jacqui’s classes, I’m finally able to let myself go.
Highly recommended.

I’ve tried tons of yoga classes and instructors for over 10 years and can say, in earnest, that Jacqui guides the best classes I’ve ever been to. She has a calming yet energizing style, is extremely personable and her positivity is contagious. I have a high-​stress, fast-​paced job and live on my laptop and Jacqui’s sessions are the perfect antidote. No matter what mood I’m in, I always leave happier, healthier and feeling lighter, in many senses. Jacqui has an ingenuous practice that incorporates a diverse background of fitness-​oriented moves yet stays true to alignment. For a working professional, anyone who loves yoga or is curious to learn more about yoga, check our her class! I heart Jacqui!

I’ve been practicing yoga for a few years now, but it had been some time since I found a yoga instructor that I liked and consistently practiced with. I happened to have a day off and decided to go to Jacqui’s 4:30pm class (a challenge to get to usually) and I was pleasant’y surprised. She’s a wonderful teacher, not just because she has exceptional command over the poses; what separates her from other Yogi’s in my opinion is the way she describes the poses. She has a knack for using language that helps me tune my posture while keeping me in the flow. I’ve now become a regular at her 4:30 class, not because its a convenient time, but because I really think she’s worth coming to.

Jacqui is a gifted yoga teacher. After trying my first yoga class a few years ago, I’ve known that it’s something I need to incorporate into my life on a regular basis. But, honestly, I rarely looked forward to going to class. Then I met Jacqui. I feel in love with her class immediately. She’s such a creative, knowledgeable, joyful, honest instructor. She provides a very compelling reason to attend aside from the yoga itself: it makes a big difference to have real expert instruction taught by someone who loves what they do. Try one class. Her instruction will speak for itself and I believe you’ll be hooked like I am.

Jacqui is the best! I’ve had a number of minor injuries, so it’s important to me to practice correctly. Jacqui gives such clear verbal detail of the body’s positioning, that I never worry about tweaking something in her classes. Her flow is just the right tempo, it challenges my body and nourishes my spirit. Plus, she’s such a delight! I often find myself going into a session with her feeling drained or overwhelmed, and with her gentle guidance, infectious smile and enthusiasm, I leave feeling like I’m on cloud 9. I feel so lucky to have found such a top notch teacher.

There are many yoga teachers who are really good at yoga. Jacqui has that special quality that I’ve only experienced once before… she is a natural teacher. She has the ability to explain things in a step-​by-​step way that makes it easy to follow and opens up such possibilities! Combined with her love of yoga and infectious joy, Jacqui’s talented teaching results in an amazing experience. Challenging, fun, inspiring. I feel very lucky to have been one of her students.

Well, what can I say but that Jacqui is the best! As a person who normally tends to shy away from yoga, I often get intimidated in large class settings. I tend to prefer a one on one approach, and with Jacqui that is exactly what you get. I have started private yoga sessions with her and they have been just the ticket to get me comfortable with practicing yoga on my own terms. First of all, she comes to my house, so I get to roll out of bed, do yoga, and then continue about my day. How great is that? Each time she asks me what I am looking for from our session, and customizes it to my every need. Sometimes I just need some intense stretching and sometimes I need to sweat, and Jacqui’s expertise gives me a personalized experience every single time. She is truly gifted at what she does, and her energy and enthusiasm for her practice and her life make you feel grateful to be learning from her.

I’ve never experienced Jacqui’s private instruction, but if they’re anything like her classes at Planet Granite San Francisco then you are sure to have a great practice. Jacqui’s positive attitude and her high yogic aptitude help you feel comfortable as she guides you to push yourself. Her class are a bit of a workout, which is exactly what I look for out a yoga class as I feel it helps to connect my mind with my body. Jacqui’s Awesome.

Oh Jacqui. Hands down my favorite teacher in this city. Jacqui’s class is always the perfect balance of fun, challenge and revitalization. Her sequences are unique and thoughtful, helping me to never get bored. Jacqui leads a challenging class that does not have the overstated ego that often drives me away from a class or teacher. There is no «scene», Jacqui creates space for yoga and joy in its purest form!

It is rare to find a teacher who is great at what they do, lives their teaching, is approachable and kind, and leaves you feeling better about yourself after you spend time with them. Jacqui is that rare teacher. I got to know Jacqui through her group classes at a local studio, and had the misfortune of her being my first teacher. I say misfortune because every time I’d go to another class, it would pale in comparison. It’s not that the other teachers aren’t good, it’s just that they don’t emanate a passion for their work like Jacqui does.
I’ve gotten into the specifics of her style and the benefits I’ve experienced in my review of Aha Yoga, where she used to teach a class. But suffice it to say that if you are seeking private yoga lessons, you could not find a better instructor than Jacqui. And I will stake my Unilocal reputation on that!

I have practiced yoga for years all over San Francisco with a variety of teachers and can honestly say Jacqui is one of my favorites. She is an inventive teacher with a fun playful style. Here classes are always creative, challenging and fun. She has an amazing way to read the energy of her students and cater each class to the needs of the group. I always feel great after practicing with her.

Jacqui’s classes always blow my mind. I am a high-​intensity athlete who can often get bored with an OM-​heavy class where I don’t feel my body is being challenged. She takes such a beautiful approach to practicing with emphasis on body awareness and understanding of why you’re doing what you’re doing. You might even find yourself trying a «stunt» you never dreamed you could accomplish.
Jacqui is kind, lighthearted, and so much fun. I can always count on a hug and a giggle on the way in or out of my hour and a half with her. (Not to mention, few accents guiding you through a flow are quite as calming and lovely as a South African one.)
