Kristen Chew Yoga

Kristen’s yoga class at Paresh is one of the neighborhood’s hidden gems. Her class embodies all I could ever want in a yoga teacher and class (challenging and varied hatha yoga flow poses, relaxing background music, hands-​on corrections when needed, small class size, affordable, and close to my home). You’ll be in for a treat when Kristen decides to do restorative yoga poses during her class. Your back will love it! Every time I take her class, I leave the class feeling an inch taller, relaxed, and knowing that I will get a good night’s rest. Yoga with Kristen is like getting therapy for the body and soul.

Kristen is an AMAZING yoga teacher. I have been attending her classes faithfully for a couple years now, and am stronger and more flexible than I ever have been before!
Her classes are challenging, but she is there to support her students every step of the way, gently guiding bodies into the correct position when needed. Her approach is calm and soothing, yet she encourages her students to push themselves to their top yoga potential. A total pro.
Her own yoga abilities are exceptional. While she easily models advanced poses — she always gives an alternative for the less experienced folks, with no pressure or judgement, allowing everyone to work and advance at their own pace.

I know of no better way to start the week than Kristen’s class.
She takes her time with each student to help them find the most in their practice. This is not a massive room impressed by the newest yoga clothes or how long you can stand on your head. It is a thoughtful instructor there to help you find calm in your body and particularly your mind. Breathe, stretch, relax.
If you wish to take your practice and body work further, Kristen also offers acupuncture, cupping, and massage. She’s great and I highly recommend her class if you seek a personal practice to clear your mind.

Kristen is great and helped me improve my strength and flexibility. Non-​competitive environment and sessions are for all levels. Small classes, which promotes more individualize attention from her.
It’s one of the few paid activities that I’ve been able to go consistently for nearly 2 years. She rocks!

I went to Paresh for Kristen’s yoga class on a Monday night at 7:30pm (she also does Wednesday’s at the same time), and was very impressed.
I have been to several yoga shops, and Kristen runs her’s the best. She has a soft, maternal style — yet still provides an intense workout.
She is great at handling a diverse class. Some people are advanced, others are beginners — she keeps them all challenged and entertained.
Her breathing and mediation techniques are particularly powerful — you will sleep great that night.
As a little background, she’s been studying yoga since 2002 and has done a massive amount of instructor training. Her specialties are advanced relaxation techniques and restorative yoga. Feeling a little sore? Feeling burnt out? Come to Kristen. She is a pro to the finger tip.

I’ve always been involved in something super active — basketball leagues growing up, cardiokickboxing, anything that involved a fast beat or that adrenaline rush. The closest I had ever come to a yoga class was when my high school PE teachers devoted a segment of the class to yoga and which I saw as the perfect opportunity to take a nap.
However, my aunt found Kristen’s class and convinced the rest of the family to check it out. Eventually, Kristen’s weekly classes became family get-​togethers with a couple other yogis.
Kristen’s class is 1.25 hours of perfect yoga music, lots of personalized attention, and that much needed neck rub. She has that perfect yoga voice that helps you focus and relax simultaneously. She’s great for all levels and all ages and provides great adjustments whether you’re a contortionist or feel super stiff all the time!
The best part is that even if you’re a klutz like me, you feel absolutely no judgment, rather only the desire to perfect your form.
Feel free to either bring your own mat or use one at the studio.
Lastly, remember that if you fall asleep at end during shavasana, no neck rub!
