I was so looking forward to the pizza here, and so disappointed. Sigh. I’m from Jersey, and this is not how the pizza look or tastes there. We got the Bianca, and it was both too thin and too hard. Not really luscious, though the flavor was fine. They also messed up our order(burned the first pizza), so we waited probably 30 minutes for the meh pizza and didn’t receive anything additional for the trouble. On the plus side, the service is great, and it’s a nice spot in terms of décor. I think I’ll stick to Little Star for my future pizza excursions, though!

On a random weekday, I decided to take some of my employees out on a lunch date. I’ve actually been to Jersey once before but didn’t have anything to reference for a review since it was a work lunch being paid for and order by my previous boss. I was excited to go back and write a more thorough review! The wonderful thing is you can make reservations through the Unilocal platform/SeatMe! When I got there, we were fortunately sat right away. I really like the industrial/modern look of the joint. cement walls, exposed ceiling lights and air ducts, brick walls. There’s two bar tops to sit at and lots of tables around the joint, including seating outside. Our server was nice and polite. At one point, she got slammed so we had to flag her down a couple of times but understandable. It was the lunch rush! For lunch we got the following: –Baby Tuscan Kale & Romaine, small, for $ 9: Last time I came here, I got this and fell in love. This time was no different! Caesar dressing, lots of it, shaved parmesan and focaccia croutons. I LOVE this dish! They don’t skimp on the dressing or the parmesan. A few of my favorite things. If you like salads, get this one! –Jersey Style, The New Yorker pizza for $ 26. Great pizza for the meat lovers out there! Provolone, mozzarella, pork sausage, pepperoni, pancetta, hearty tomato sauce. They also add on dollops of what seemed like ricotta but I’m unsure. Either way, it’s MEATY, so keep that in mind. You will get a ton of oil because of the protein so if that’s not your thing, keep that in mind. Overall, I liked it and would order it again. –Jersey Style, Meatballs pizza for $ 24. Roasted peppers and onions, mozzarella, provolone and parmesan. Another very meat heavy pizza. This one I liked a lot because it also had a pepper/onion component which seemed to cut the heavy element of the meat. Great pizza! Overall, a huge win! I love that it’s located one block from my building. That gives me incentive to return. Reserve online, come in hungry and leave happy! Thanks guys :)

Best New York style pizza in SF! We were recommended this place by a friend and boy were they right about how good this place is. The crust is absolutely perfect. Slightly charred and crispy. Most of the pizza places we’ve been to in this city is almost all dough but not this place. The tomato sauce is so fresh and tangy. The cheese to sauce ratio is perfect. I hate when places have too much cheese. The tomato pie has sauce on top of the cheese and it was sooo good. The New Yorker was delicious as well. The sausage had a good kick to it. I normally don’t like pepperoni but it was actually really good. The slices are huge; perfect for folding and eating true New York style. Only thing I didn’t like about this place is the price. $ 26 for a pie is steep. Overall great pizza and I would come here again.

Been here a handle of times for lunch and happy hour — The food — 4 – 5 stars, service –consistently two stars. My feeling is that they are extremely understaffed – Two servers for the entire place, and no busing staff in sight. Its unfortunate as I would love to make this a regular business luncheon spot. but often I leave frustrated with the slow/lack of service.

Try the beef cheek cannenolli and the Bianca pizza with added mushrooms! The ambiance is great, staff is awesome and it is my new go to pizza spot when I crave east coast style pies!

My husband and 2-year old son came to Jersey on the recommendation of our concierge. When I asked the concierge if we needed a reservation, he glanced at the computer and told us we shouldn’t have any trouble getting a table at 5:45PM. We walk over to the restaurant and it is nearly empty. The host, however, asked us if we had a reservation and when we told him we did not, he told us that they were booked. Overbooked, in fact! We walked away a little miffed that the concierge would send us to a restaurant that did not have availability. Upon speaking to the concierge back at the hotel, we find out that the restaurant had availability nearly all night which leaves us to conclude that we were denied service simply because we had our toddler and it was beneath them to serve pizza to a toddler. I can’t leave a review of the food, since we never made it past the host, but I can tell you that our experience with the service was was regrettable. If you want good Italian with kind and family-friendly service, I would recommend Ristorante Umbria down the street.

This review is only for the happy hour, which is great. The regular menu is fairly expensive but the happy hour is affordable. You can find beer and wine(red and a white) for $ 4 – 6 as well as small plates of food. A piece of pizza ranges from $ 4-$ 5 and there are shoestring fries as well. We ordered one tomato sauce pizza slice, one pepperoni pizza slice, one shoestring fries, and two glasses of happy hour white wine. The pizza was good, a significant amount of tomato sauce so that may or may not be your style. I think it was the most tomato sauce I’ve ever had on a pizza, and I eat pizza a lot. The white wine was good and the glasses were a good size for a happy hour. The only thing I didn’t like was the shoestring fries, they’re barely larger than a toothpick so there’s no doughy potato in the middle at all, they’re just very small and thus flat and crispy. Thin fries are my favorite, but these were far too thin they resembled very small potato shavings. I wouldn’t order these again. The atmosphere during happy hour was busy but not too loud, I enjoyed the ambience as it was fast paced but not overwhelming. There was only one server for a significant number of people but luckily we were able to sneak our order in before the end of happy hour. I would definitely go back for happy hour.

3.5 stars The pizzas are solid, try the New Yorker. The grilled watermelon salad is just what you’d imagine it would taste like. warm watermelon that’s very sweet. I wasn’t too crazy about it since I much prefer a cool & refreshing slice of watermelon. If you’re hungry, skip the pasta dishes since they’re on the small side. I don’t know how I feel about the Three Twins Ice Cream with olive oil. Actually, please hold the oil as I really want to taste the ice cream. At the price point and just pizza that stands out to me, I doubt Jersey would be a frequent go-to spot for me.

Let’s face it — pizza is a very personal choice. And every person has their own preference(thin crust OR deep dish). The debate goes on and on. Obviously, it’s not as important as your views on let’s say gun control or who you think should be the next president. But it’s a serious matter, nonetheless. Well, I’m happy to report that Jersey Pizza will satisfy most everyone. In fact, I would wager that both Democrats and Republicans(and even Socialists!) would agree that Jersey serves excellent pizza. Came here for lunch the other day. Word to the wise: make a reservation! If you don’t book in advance, you’ll end up waiting 15 – 20 minutes for a table. But then again, this pizza is well worth the wait. My friend and I wound up seating at the kitchen counter(where we got to watch up-close all the pizza magicians doing their work). We wound up splitting a Chopped Salad and a Pepperoni pie. The salad was a delicious medley of radicchio, salami, provolone, and pepperoncini tossed in a tangy vinaigrette. I’d come back just for this salad. As for the pizza, it was divine. The thin crust was cooked to perfection. I pretty much licked the tomato sauce off my fingers and plate. The toppings were fresh and generous. The pizza was $ 23, but we had more than enough to take home in a doggy bag. And you know what? It was still amazingly good when I ate it for dinner later that night. The place is still relatively new, so there are still service kinks that need to be worked out. Our waiter more or less disappeared for the entire duration of our meal, and we had to remind him a few times to bring our water. But over all, it was a stellar dining experience. I can’t wait to go back and bring friends.

Damn good pizza! I will be back. Excellent beer choices on tap. What a nice surprise. My GF and I came on an early Tuesday night and were asked if we had a reservation. As we did not we were seated at the bar. Usually this is great as the service at the counter is better. In this instance because the restaurant was full it was a little tight. I admit this is a personal issue because I am a little bigger than most people. If your skinny this won’t be a problem. If your larger like me don’t sit at the bar. It didn’t detract from the experience though. This spot is solid. The pizza is excellent and maybe one of the best crust on the west coast. The pizza sauce is insane!

SO. Good. After a long night out on Thursday, Friday morning at work I just needed some pizza. I Unilocaled«Pizza» in «Financial District» and Jersey showed up. Immediately, I made reservations for 2 people at 5:30 pm(so that my bf and I could make it in time for happy hour.) Happy hour food: we ordered the mushroom arancini. $ 5 and super good. Will order again. We also ordered the shoestring fries. $ 3. will not order again. The fries were so skinny and small they were super difficult to eat. Pizza: Ordered the funghi pizza for $ 23 and it was really yummy. It had broccoli in it and I really don’t understand why. The broccoli tasted odd to me. Drinks: Beers are $ 3 during happy hour! Next time I’m coming for the $ 4 Trenton slices! The slices were huge too! :)

Despite a few glitches(slow wait service, huge splotches of flour on the underside of the pizza that made eating one particular slice unenjoyable), Jersey did a nice job. Went with a buddy visiting from Chicago(who grew up in Long Island) and while he said the pizza wasn’t what real Jersey pizza is like, we both loved our meal. Chicken parm — good all the way around. Nice sauce, nice breading, well-cooked chicken. Meatball pizza — Home run all the way. The cheese, the sauce, the meat. With the exception of the very avoidable raw flour taste from an overly floured crust, it was a dream pizza.

Returned for dinner and split a Jersey pizza — half New Yorker, half Bianca — you can do that as long as you don’t mix and match Jersey and California styles. Both were really good. Nice hearty pizzas. A change from the usual thin crust leafy toppings, etc, etc at other pizza places. But mostly I can’t believe they’re not doing breakfast anymore! And I didn’t even get to try the breakfast pizza!

Jersey is a pretty decent pizza joint in the FiDi. The pizzas here are good and have a very distinguished flavor to them. Granted, I’ve never had pizza in New Jersey, so I can’t really make a fair comparison. But Jersey’s own interpretation of Jersey-style pizza tastes good enough for me! Ahi Tuna Confit Arancini w/Saffron Aioli — These are pretty good! Not very fishy tasting which is a good thing for me. A very good interpretation of Arancini. Trenton Tomato Pie – sliced mozzarella, parmesan, sauce on top This is their signature pie. For a basic cheese pizza, this was pretty good. The sauce was very tangy, it had a good amount of cheese, and the crust had a good chew to it. And that’s a perfectly good sign for their other pies if they can get this basic pizza done right! Asparagus – beach trumpet mushrooms, green garlic, mozzarella One of their California inspired pies and they did a great job with it. The veggies were nicely roasted on top. Bianca — onion crema, lemon ricotta, mozzarella, truffle oil This pie was so decadent. You can totally smell the truffle oil emanating from the pie. This was my favorite pie of the night! Overall, Jersey has a pretty good selection of pizzas and appetizers from what I’ve had so far. I’d love to come back and try their pasta dishes and also the New Yorker which I didn’t get to try. It looks like a really awesome pizza pie! They also has a decent Happy Hour with cheap beers and pizza slices to pick from. There aren’t too many gourmet pizza joints in the FiDi, so Jersey definitely is a welcome addition.

Pizza is always a good idea. We were looking to grab a quick bite before heading to Temple Nightclub, which is only a few blocks away. Turns out to be a nice restaurant I would return to dine at! However, I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for pizza on a budget. The total for a New Yorker Pizza and small Shrimp Scampi was $ 55, tax and tip included. Shrimp scampi seemed to contain house-made pasta, but I’m not sure. It’s a bit thicker than spaghetti but it was fresh and chewy. The scampi sauce was mostly butter, and who doesn’t love butter? :-) The shrimp was very salty, which balanced out the pasta that didn’t absorb much flavor. New Yorker Pizza: cheese, tomato sauce, pepperoni, and sausage. My oh my… I’ve never seen so many tiny AND large pools of grease sitting on every crest of the pizza and in every little pepperoni! Eat quickly because even the bottom gets oily. Jersey, you’re lucky the pizza is darn good… so let’s not make the oil situation as big of a deal ;-) We asked for napkins and patted down the grease. The crust is thin and crispy but soft by the bite. One of the better restaurant-style pizzas I’ve had! Along with the price and greasiness of the food, another con was the service. We were in a bit of a rush to get into the club before 11pm(which we did not make…) Our waiter seemed busy walking up and down the narrow restaurant throughout our visit, but he was not prompt with serving our table. We asked to follow-up with our pizza because we had already finished the scampi by then. Our server seemed a little frustrated and informed us that he had already been checking up on it, then proceeded to walk another direction. He reached his arm over our table to clean up at awkward times. He didn’t inform us of the different size pastas until we asked. He also forgot to bring our condiments until we were almost done eating. For a $$ restaurant, I was hoping to get a more experienced server. Otherwise, simple and tasty Italian food in the city of San Francisco.

We needed this after having a massively disappointing weekend pizza experience. We started with the fig, honey, walnut, gorgonzola crostini. My mouth applauded. Summer fruit is my thing, and wow did they do it justice. Sweetest figs drizzled with honey, laid on a bed of toasted crostini and perfectly melted gorgonzola, topped off with walnut bits. Life couldn’t possibly be more perfect. My husband and I both opted for the Jersey-style pizzas, since the waiter said the crust would be crunchier and have a touch more of wheat flour. How can you say no to more crunch factor? You cannot. You will not. My husband ordered the New Yorker. I ordered the Trenton tomato pie. Four kinds of cheese and flavorful, mad savory sauce made love before me. I bow down to Jersey crust. We’ll be back, no doubt.

This is a relatively new pizza joint brought to you by the Town Hall folk right in the heart of FiDi. I made a reservation for Friday lunch for a group of 10. This place isn’t big so make sure you get those reservations in! We started off with the Ahi Tuna Confit Arancini, Wild Arugula Salad, and Caesar Baby Tuscan Kale & Romaine. Even those in our party that aren’t big on tuna really enjoyed the arancini. Definitely something different that you don’t get at most pizza joints. We got the New Yorker, Bianca, Funghi, Meatball, and Prosciutto. –The ladies(myself included) loved the Bianca, the fellows were moreso feeling the meat-heavy New Yorker and Meatball. –The New Yorker was good but I didn’t like how soggy it got from the grease. –The Funghi tastes more like broccoli pizza than mushroom. Still good but not what I was expecting. Super friendly service, delicious food, great vibes. It’s a solid lunch spot, but don’t plan to be productive afterwards.

My dearest Pizza how I have missed you. Yes, Jersey got it right. This is the best pizza I’ve had in SF in the past 6 months of my living here. With that said, the flavors are definitely authentic, but the entire experience is not. Hence, my hesitation to go all the way with a 5-star review. My boo and I came to celebrate our dating anniversary and there was no better way than to do it than to get a taste of home. We are both from the east coast and I grew up mostly in New Jersey. It was a simple dinner. We didn’t get any drinks and just ordered two pies. The Trenton and the New Yorker. AH. Although the service was very attentive and kind. The kitchen was really slow; we waited about 40 – 45 minutes for our food on a Tuesday night when not every table was occupied. I know they do get a lot of take-out orders, so I get it. But since we didn’t order any drinks or appetizers it was just a bit long when I was starving after a long work day. Both our server and the busman apologized which we greatly appreciated. PIZZA The NEWYORKER was freakin’ awesome. The sausage kick is not muted and exploding with spice and salt. Ricotta although not too common out there, was still a nice creamy touch on the pie. DUH, it’s greasy. Come on, naysayers. Pepperoni and sausage on a pizza isn’t a new phenomenon. The oil will sometimes drip onto your hands and fingers(if you aren’t using a fork and knife which is an abomination). Also, if it’s too much oil for ya’ dab it with a napkin. NBD. Excellent cheese to sauce ratio. On that note, excellent fresh tomato sauce — awesome marriage of tangy and sweet. Finally reminded me of the goodness of home. TRENTON was also fantastic. Without pepperoni and other toppings, you’ll get to appreciate the tomato sauce more here. Please take a moment to think about other pizza establishments in SF and compare to what you experience at Jersey when it comes to the sauce. In the beginning it’s heavier on the sour side, but my palate adjusted and I loved it. Oh, the pizza dough. Nothing short of perfect on the Tuesday night I went. It was just slightly charred and crispy on the surface, the right thinness. They also left the right amount of crust on the edges. Slam dunk. Warriors style. Lastly, a few things that didn’t quite make it true New Jersey: — This is a trendy and finer space and you don’t get that back home. When it comes to pizza, we want to be mostly in and out without compromising quality. — The prices are kind of absurd. My favorite restaurant in Jersey is Nomad Pizza Company. You can get a pie, a bit smaller than the ones here for $ 14-$ 17. Yeah, I’m not ignorant to the fact that this is FiDi SF and the rent prices are much higher. But $ 26 for a New Yorker is kind of steep. My friend(also from Jersey who came on my recommendation) and his wife got a pie, a small fish entrée, an app, a couple drinks and it was $ 120. Ouch. Overall, I’m a happy lady there’s finally pizza around here that hits the spot the way it should. The owners are from Edison! If there are any Jersey folks reading this. Have you been to Nomad? How do you think it compares?

Pizza 3 stars. Service 2.5 stars. Saturday night. We arrived maybe 10 minutes early for our early reservation at 6:30. We were told that our table wasn’t ready yet, but it would be in a few minutes. Totally fine. The Bar… We said we’d wait at the bar. We sidled up, & ordered 2 glasses of Pinot Noir. At $ 17 bucks a glass, surprisingly we were not offered a taste first. Not a huge deal or deal breaker per se, but offering a taste first has become so prevalent, I can’t even remember the last time I wasn’t offered a taste. This particular vino(Willamette Love & Squalor 2012) I thought was ok, but my man didn’t like it at all. He drank maybe a third of it, leaving the rest. He is not the customer to say something or complain. But who wants to start off a lovely meal w a glass of wine they just do not enjoy? I’ll tell you who. No one. Why we had to «shelf the table, & stay at the bar…» 15 minutes in, we notice that«our» table was just now starting on their pizza?! So much for our table being ready in «a few minutes.» The hostess comes over & apologizes. Since they’re obviously going to be at least another hour, we decide to just eat at the bar instead. Again, not a huge deal since it was just the 2 of us, but there were several empty tables in the joint. The hostess was nice enough, but poor floor management is just poor floor management. The Pizza… Now, I was really here for the pizza. We ordered 2 pies. The New Yorker & the bianca. I was all over that bianca after having read all the raves about it…& while it was good, I found it to be underwhelming. The lemon comes through, as does the subtle truffle, but it didn’t reach above par status for me. The crust was the star, it retained it’s firmness all throughout the pie, w good flavor balance. Props for that. The New Yorker. This had my man’s name written all over it. But my first bite was a soggy mess. My FIRST bite. The red sauce though, was outstanding. And, sogginess aside, my man was a fan. Incidentally, former mayor Willie Brown came in while we were there. He dined alone in the back watching the kitchen. Between this & Michael Bauer giving them love, they’re obviously doing something right. Over the 2 hours we were there, it did get busy. It’s a small space. Casual & comfortable. Cleanly modern, w lots of brick. A warm atmosphere. I’ll need to come back & try the rest of the menu. But this visit… 3 stars.

Absolutely amazing pizza! We fell out of our chair, literally, celebrating how good this tasted. We were sitting down having a wonderful eggplant appetizer and a glass of wine. Brian, the manager, listened to our opinions on pizza and recommended that we try the New Yorker. Now, in SF, the crown for the New Yorker is apparently held by Tony’s. So this was a bold challenge. We ordered the pizza, it had succulent, high quality meats(sausage, pepperoni, and pancetta), wonderful cheese that was just shy of piping hot, and beautiful white kisses of whipped ricotta(they looked like Hershey’s kisses) nicely spaced throughout the pie. Unlike Tony’s(no office big guy, love you guys too), the mounds were not melted and held their shape because the pizza was allowed to cool a little before adding the ricotta. All of this rests on just a perfectly formed crust that holds up under the weight and flavor of what’s on top. If there is one thing I’d like to see changed at this restaurant is that I want the eggplant appetizer brought back and I’d like one really bold wine on the menu. Maybe a tasty Zin to go well with the pizza. Please try this place so we can all vote with our wallets for better pizza in SF!
