PLUS: — fast(and we’re talking within 2 — 5 minutes fast, from payment to pick-up!) — soft bread — closes at 7pm which is great for FiDi area if you want a small/quick bite — more affordable than anything else within a 4 block radius for a sandwich CONS: — but you pay for what you get, so they’re light-handed with the protein(or any of the more expensive ingredients) — wish they had an option to toast the bread… but realize that takes away from the business’ stance on speediness so this is minor

Probably the best deal you can get for a cheap, quick, and tasty lunch in the Financial District. Really great bread and service is excellent at this location.

Just like I remembered. So darn delicious. If you hail from the Midwest, JJ was staple and the fact that they are opening another branch in SF just makes us transplants a little happier. The Beach Club or the Turkey Tom on French on the way to go. Yes, the bread is not toasted as I’ve seen so many complaints, but seriously, with bread this good. You don’t do that! This place had quality ingredients and isn’t gross like Subway. On top of it, Delivery is so darn quick! Seriously, the best sandwich place ever.

This place is so simple and so fast but yet, I’ve been grabbing a sandwich from this place at least once a week so I’m obviously a fan. Way better than Subway but not quite up to par with Little Luccas, Ike’s and/or Luigis. The JJ Gargantuan is so good to me. Again, it’s simple and plain but they pack the meats in that sando and maybe that’s what’s selling me. The bread is so soft to! $ 10 gets you a meal with chips and a drink. Check it out.

Just find another sandwich shop, plenty of better choices nearby. I went with two other coworkers, one hated it right when it was handed to him so that is probably why he hated it as he was eating it. The sandwich is not toasted, hence the reason he hated it when it was handed to him. He wants to call his credit card company to get a refund on the Italian Night Club. My other coworker got the Gargatuan and thought it was meh. Just Meh. I got the Big John and it had once slice of roast beef. The plus was that it was loaded with lettuce and sprouts. And the hot pepper was good. The hot pepper was probably the best thing about the sandwiches. My recommendation, just find another sandwich shop. I don’t normally write reviews but my coworker just bashed his sandwich so much that I figured I should spare others from wasting their ~$ 8. Seriously, do NOT come here. My coworkers will NOT stop complaining. It’s been 2 hours…

I haven’t been to a JJ’s since a Seattle trip years ago. Sandwich was just ok, not even cut in half. Not the friendliest bunch working there either. Much better sandwich options in the Financial District.

Sandwich quality is better than subway but they don’t let you customize anything. Basically the business model is NOT structured to provide GOOD service — it is just structured to provide FAST service. Unfortunately I prefer good service over fast service. I’ve never heard of a sandwich place that won’t put mustard on a sandwich or substitute a meat. The staff is nice enough, but as I said the JJ business model doesn’t permit them to provide good service outside of a smile. The JJ chips are great — way better than your average potato chips. I also like the pickle they sell. Biggest perk is this location is open till 7. There aren’t many places to eat at around here if you need something quick while working late. I am torn between giving this a 2 and a 3 star rating. I mean I’ll keep eating here but I hate the business model.

I spent my childhood and half of my post-college life on the East Coast, so Subway and Blimpie were the main sub chains of note. I was always about the Subway Club(roast beef, turkey, ham) with double meat and all the veggies. Then I discovered Jimmy John’s. Their bread is chewier, their veggies are tastier(…but they don’t have pickle slices) and their meat is far superior(none of that weird rainbow cold cut glow). I really haven’t been back to Subway since the first Jimmy John’s opened up in San Francisco. Now this location, even closer to my office, poses a real threat to my cholesterol levels! The J.J. Gargantuan: The best $ 9.50 you can spend on lunch in the FiDi. It’s got a ton of meat(turkey, ham, roast beef, salami, capicola) and provolone. I prefer it with all the freebies except sprouts(since I think sprouts generally taste like dirt). For me on a normal day, about half of the sandwich satisfies me at lunch then I’ll have the other half as an afternoon snack or late night snack. On a stressful workday when I want to eat my emotions, the whole thing makes for quite an overfilling late lunch.

I am soooo happy to have another in the city — a quick cheap bite on the go. I went here the other night on the way to the express bus home — and I gotta tell ya the bread was a little staler than usual, and the service not as fast — I joke that all I have to do is «think» my order for Jimmy Johns and it is done before I can say it. But that was not the case on this visit, I acually had to pay and wait a few mins. Likely b/c it is the«late/EOD» shift –only 2 peeps working — not the busy lunch rush. The gals were nice though, and happy to have it so close to the office(rather than in the Galleria)

I was there at night, so I’m certain I had a better experience than the typical lunch rush. Still, I was awed and surprised when I experienced Jimmy John’s to be so incredibly fast. There was one person in line in front of me. But I only waited for a minute to place my order. Then I took a quick look around and my order was up. Two minutes max. In a world filled with advertising hype, since when is anything as good as advertised?! For just $ 7.25, I thought my club was well worth the money. I had the #10 Hunters Club — roast beef and provolone, with shredded lettuce and sliced tomato. Not a ton of roast beef, but good meat, very flavorful. The bread wasn’t amazing, but definitely fresh and better than decent. JJ’s is not Ike’s or anything SF-culinary-daring-and-amazing, but it seems like a good chain for the busy worker bee. If you want to eat in, there are 8 seats and 7 stools, if I counted correctly. I didn’t have much time…

Think Subway but a tad smaller. And with lots of funny décor on the walls. When I saw this place was opening, I thought«YAY another sandwich place!!! Must try» I tried it, it was just mehh. The sandwiches all sound enticing but they all tasted pretty basic… I tried the Beach Club and I didn’t feel like it was anything special… The bread wasn’t even toasted! I also wondered where my avocado was… If you like cheap and basic sandwiches, come here. If not, go around the corner for Lou’s.

The Good: The atmosphere is fun, the signs on the wall will crack you up. The selection of sandwiches was decent. I got a #5 Italian. The bread was fresh and tasty. The meat and trimmings seemed to be good quality. Staff is very friendly. For San Francisco, a sandwich under $ 6, how can you beat it? An Observation: It’s not really a bad comment, it’s an observation, there was very little meat on the sandwich. I’m sure some SF folks will think it’s the perfect size, but it left me feeling ½ full. I know it’s under $ 6, so I don’t have an issue with it, but next time I would pay for double meat… assuming that’s an option. I would definitely go back again.
