My office likes Andersen’s because they are quick and will put each of our lunches in individual bags with our names labeled which is very important when we have 15+ people. If we forget to get our lunch orders together before 11:30am(like today), we can rely on them to quickly complete our orders. We dropped off the order at 11:36am and picked up the order within 40 minutes. The orders are fresh and always correct. We love their soups, especially their Butternut Squash Soup that they’ve unfortunately removed for the winter. Their Tomato Ravioli Soup and Chicken/Turkey Noodle are both good. I like their Fruit Salad with Chicken which is actually real fruit, though tangerines are canned, and they give you plenty of dressing should you need it. Their manager is very nice and on occasion has sent us complimentary cookies and cakes.

I always come here for dessert and tea. Always a hit, have some basic desserts. Be seen some people order the half sandwich and soup and half sandwich salad. Looks pretty good, thinking of trying it next. I know it’s very commercial and not super authentic but when I’m in a pinch it does the job right.

Stopped by to grab a sandwich. The guy at the counter was clueless our order was wrong. You should always check before you leave. Very bad first impression Will not go back

Aw they drastically reduced their menu. No more hot ham and emmentahal sammies! :(Service is faster now though. The cashier was curt and unfriendly.

OK the service here SUUUUUUCKS! They had 7 people working the morning shift and most of them were way more interested in wiping down already clean counters and organizing already organized pastries than feeding busy customers. People who had already ordered and were waiting for food had to remind them that they were STILL waiting. After waiting for over 10 minutes for a simple breakfast sandwich, I finally got mine. I should have known something was wrong since the lady delivering sandwiches to waiting customers seemed to have zero idea what she was doing or saying. Headed back to the office and they gave me the wrong order. I had half a mind to go back, but who has time for that on a weekday morning? Never again. It is a simple job and you guys do it simply horribly. I almost gave 2 stars since people were at least polite, but it didn’t warrant a second star.

Worst croissant i have ever ate. The décor is white and empty, the music is bad. Please stop making what you call croissant, it’s really an insult.

The croissants are as tasteless as the music they play. Really not a good example of French breads and pastries. Search elsewhere.

This review is for this location only. I’m sure other Andersens are absolutely lovely. Terrible terrible terrible. The assistant manager and main counter gal don’t give an F, and somehow they always manage to either mess up my order or make me wait 15 minutes as others get their breakfast. I guess being a somewhat loyal customer doesn’t really mean anything to them. Once the awesome Michelle left, this place went totally downhill. Today was the last straw. #neveragain

I had never been here before so I asked the gentleman to suggest what he thought was BEST. He said the BBQ chicken sandwich. So I told him, «Give me whatever will make me want to come back.» The chicken was moist, the bread was fabulous! I’d definitely eat one of those sandwiches again!!! The only reason for the 4 stars is that it took an unreasonably long time to make when there weren’t very many people there.

LOVEANDERSEN! This is the perfect lunch spot because. — Delicious food at reasonable prices. I usually get the Soup and Sandwich combo which is around $ 10. — Free samples /day olds! I snack while my order gets ready. Their pastries are really well balanced(not too sweet). — Great location! Located down the block from my office and a lot of other people’s offices. :) — Decent service. I usually don’t have high service expectations during rush hours because they’re busy. This place isn’t really THAT busy during lunch and everyone is pretty courteous. Areas for improvement: — The full cakes here are kind of small. maybe big enough for 4 – 5 people? Definitely not great for any last minute celebrations. — The numbering system is a little weird. Your number is based on which register serves you. It can be a little confusing when you hear numbers all over the place. Just make sure you listen for your number and you’ll live. Andersen’s is a gem in FiDi and is worth a try!

Been here once order was fine. Better bread and sandwiches than SF soup co with similar take out-eat quick vibe and about the same price. You can buy fresh half loaves real cheap here like $ 3.

The service just gets worse and worse here. I just left today because they completely lost my order. Wasted more than 20 minutes at this place. Not happening to me again because I’m not going back there again. Just completely disorganized.

Mostly grab breakfast breads here and never had an issue but found out today that this place is an operations nightmare at lunch. Waited forever, got back to the office and found my Chopped Smoked Turkey Cobb was missing the turkey and that the salad dressing was certainly Ceasar. The cashier also had said the salad came with bread. Not sure if she understood the question because there was none of that either.

The food here is not bad. But they always somehow mess up our order. This time we only ordered a cake but we didn’t get a receipt. My boss has to get reimbursed so she needs a receipt. The delivery person says, «I was only told to deliver the cake.» She then calls me and says, «I cannot print out a receipt without my manager. I will drop it off when she comes in.» Of course I have to end up walking over there to get our receipt. Luckily it is not far from our office.

Oh look, another place that has small portions and high prices! Well this ought to fit right in here in the FiDi and in SF in general! I just paid $ 14 for lunch and I’m still hungry. Awesome.

Great bakery! Everything here looks great and tastes delicious. Service is fast and kind. The only think I personally really mind about this place is that they don’t make any eapresso, latte, or cappuccino!

A solid cup of coffee(peerless) and baked goods that aren’t overly sweet. I find myself stopping in on the way to worm to grab a cup of coffee and avoid the lines at Starbucks or Peetes. The service can sometimes be a little slow… but you still get out faster than you would anywhere else in the area on a workday…

I really like their selection of pastries here. There are muffins, bread sticks, danishes, coffeecakes, and more. The place is really clean. Service was really nice. Not a very long wait time for my order. About 5 – 7 minutes. Mini story: There was a man who stormed back into the store asking if they had got his order wrong. He wanted a Turkey Avocado but thinks he got chicken. Here’s the fun part. I ordered the half sandwich with a cup of soup. $ 7.75 tax included. I got a Chicken Avocado and a cup of Clam Chowder. Biting into the sandwich, I really had no idea if I had chicken or turkey. Then I thought back to the man. Did we switch orders? haha. Mystery meat! On topic, the sandwich was ok. Nothing exceptional. The Clam Chowder, however, was disgusting. Super watery and taste was bland. I think I’m better off paying a little more at Boudin’s at least I’ll get real, good clam chowder and chicken I can actually recognize! On a positive note, I really like their blueberry muffins. It tastes like the ones Starbucks used to sell. Will be coming back for the pastries!

I didn’t know what to get for lunch and happened upon Andresen Bakery. I decided to check it out and ended up getting a Boston Clam Chowder, which was ok. It also came with a slice of bread and butter. Yum! While you wait to get your order, they have samples of their bread on the counter :)

I’m not eating pastries anymore… unless I really, really need one. OK, I’ve had an Andersen Bakery pastry but not at this particular location, the one in the Japan Center where I could gorge on it among my people. But not here, not among my co-workers who would look at me with disdain if they saw the tell-tale whipped cream stuck on my goatee whiskers. Believe it or not, I have come here to eat a bit healthier by ordering the $ 6.70 Vegetarian Feast, which is a simple, satisfying sandwich that places lettuce, sprouts, tomato, cucumber, fresh avocado, provolone cheese and a slather of Dijon mayonnaise between two slices of whatever bread you so desire. In my case, I went with nine-grain(see photo). On a separate tray, I got a $ 3.75 cup of a reasonably tasty Mediterranean Vegetable Soup, which came with its own slices of bread, which is a bit of a waste since I already had the sandwich and wasn’t going for a carb overload during the lunch hour. As my bill inched over ten bucks, of course, I noticed if I could get by with half a sandwich, I can order the $ 7.50 Half Sandwich/Soup Combo, something I attempted in the past but it’s a roll of the dice if you indeed get a full sandwich or half of one. But do I really think the other half of the sandwich is worth $ 3 on its own regardless? Good question, I should speak to my financial advisor about that. You would think the gluttonous sight of two trays in front of me would discourage my a la carte approach but alas, not yet. FOOD — 3 stars… bread always tastes fresh, so do the veggies, even if the execution here is not the most exciting AMBIANCE — 3.5 stars… images of Copenhagen take me back to my trip there, but the out-of-kilter layout doesn’t seem to help during the rush hour SERVICE — 3.5 stars… they do as they’re trained, no complaints there TOTAL — 3 stars… the sum of a good sandwich and a capable cup of soup doesn’t necessarily equal a great value
