Initially i had hired him to do drywall repair which was just fine, however…
DONT EVER hire this guy for Painting. Unfortunately for me i did not see his reviews here until after i had already paid him, big mistake. The days he did work were short. generally 4 – 5 hours tops causing a 4 day project to bleed into 2 weeks.
Not only did he leave a ton of unfinished work, he then flaked on coming to finish his job on 3 separate days over a week and a half period after the fact. He claimed he was injured, but then later claimed he had to go work for lyft because he was broke. Then claimed he was still injured again. He had already been paid by me and didn’t feel he needed to come finish THIS JOB. HMM.
My kitchen sink was left a total mess and covered with paint which took a good hour + of scrubbing and turpentine to remove. Ultimately not only did i have to repaint large portions of the job myself (both spotty coverage as well as places that were not primed so paint literally fell off). but he left all the detail and trim work which was an extra 16 hours of labor.
Not Impressed. Extremely disappointed.

John worked with my landlord to fix damage caused by movers. Friendly and professional, quick and easy.

I asked John to help out with the assembly of 4 (count ‘em, FOUR) Ikea dressers. I don’t know about you, but something like that would have taken me probably four full afternoons of mind numbing Ikea-​ness. It took this guy about 6 hours for all four! I’d say that’s very impressive. Also, as many of you know, Ikea’s not exactly known for their quality control in their furniture. A number of the pieces were not machined precisely, and John effectively had to do a custom job to make sure everything came out A-​OK.
Additionally, John was also very user friendly. We texted back and forth to work out the details about time and location, and he showed up within the stated timeframe and got to work. He was very friendly and gregarious, and I would have no reservation asking for his help with other tasks.

John did two jobs for me and cared a lot about delivering a good finished product. He refurbished a large 45 year old coffee table (chrome, wood and glass) with creativity and care. It took some trial and error and he stuck with it until he got it right. He also washed and stain/​sealed my back deck, which came out great.

John did a unacceptable, rookie paint job at my place in addition to taking way too long. If you do hire him, remember that you get what you pay for and also don’t make the mistake of paying him in full before the job is done. When he quoted a price he said it would take 2 days. The actual job took 4 days because he got too tired after lunch everyday and he prefers to paint everything using a mini roller which my new painter (who had to fix the mess john made) found absolutely absurd. Also he believes that paint is really easy to clean off and so did not use any drop cloths and left paint drops all over the place including the grout in the bathroom for which i have to pay another 100 $. He definitely doesn’t care about customer satisfaction and on the last day he did a really hasty job, when i pointed this out, he got extremely pissed off and stormed out shouting ‘i am done, i charged you 650 for a 2000 $ job… ’ and my place is a studio, plus he doesnt have a license. In conclusion, i would recommend that you pay a few hundred more and hire someone else, its going to be cheaper in the long run

I needed help assembling Ikea furniture and John is as good as it gets. He is a very nice guy and professional. He assembled my difficult Ikea furniture with ease. I highly recommend him for any handyman job.

I have 2 1970’s chairs with chrome legs that needed to be refinished and reupholstered. Although the re-​upholstery job went to a different professional, John came to my house to pick up the metal legs to refinish them and take away any scoff marks or rusting that has accumulated over the years.
Not only did he arrive with all the necessary tools to take apart such an old piece, he also delivered the finished product directly to the reupholsters work shop and helped attach them back on.
He was always easy to reach and communicate with, always accommodating and very friendly.

John was awesome. I had a wood entry door that needed repairing and called John for help. We scheduled a meeting time, he arrived on time and evaluated the door. He came up with three options and explained the pros and cons and price of all three. The option we picked was pretty creative and the end result is better than I could have expected. Oh, and it was same day service — Once we picked an option, he left bought the materials and had the door looking awesome in less than 3 hours.

John is an all around handy man that I have used for several different tasks. First I had to have the back area of a rental property cleared of severe over-​growth. It was really bad. He cut and dug for two days to get all the heavy vines out of there. It looked fabulous when he was done. I wish I had taken before and after pictures. The result of the work was impressive. Then I had John install an automatic watering system for our deck plants. Though we thought we were watering them enough, they were always dying. John worked hard on setting up the system making several trips to the Outer Sunset to get the proper parts for the system from a company out there. The results were great! Our plants are thriving. He took the time to get everything working properly — very meticulous. I understand he also does painting, light plumbing work, light fixture replacement, drywall repair, metal/​wood repair/​restoration and general handyman work. I was very pleased with John’s work and he was nice to deal with. His sweet dog also comes along and hangs out in the car while he works! She’s very cute if you need a doggie-​fix. I will call him again when I need tasks done around the house!
