Kumon Math and Reading Center of San Francisco – Diamond Heights

Mable is not the easiest person to work with and at times she can be downright rude and uncompromising. We have 2 children enrolled in Kumon. My oldest has been enrolled in Kumon for almost a year. My youngest has been enrolled for about 6 months. One time when talking to her about the challenges my younger child was having with the program, I disagreed with her binary approach to teaching. I felt we needed a different or modified approach for my younger child. Not all kids adapt to a rigid, structured learning approach. She gave me her canned message that my child just needed to sit down and do the work. When I reiterated a need to make adjustments, she rolled her eyes and walked away in the middle of our discussion. If she can do that to the parents, I can only imagine what she must do with the children.
After 6 months of trying to make this work, we have removed our youngest child from this program, however, Mable is attempting to charge us an additional 2 months of fees for services we will not consume. That seems excessive and inappropriate for a program that doesn’t meet the student’s needs. It’s a failure of this learning center, not of the child or our commitment to the program and we shouldn’t be penalized for that.

Not a friendly Kumon at all. They were not just strict with my child but actually mean. Unless you like the idea of having strangers being cruel to your kid to the point of crying, I’d avoid this place. I should also mention that they had my child repeat the same math problems way more than needed. When we quit the place, the manager even treated us badly for leaving. Should be avoided.
