I can’t believe I haven’t written a review on this place yet. From my old job to my new job this place is at least 5 – 6SF blocks away from me. But they have the best Banh Mi sandwiches I have ever had. They’re so tasty and taste so fresh! I’m not even kidding I think I had this for lunch for two straight weeks. I wish they had stamp cards because I go so frequently that I’m sure I would’ve filled up at least 2 – 3 by now. I always order the #2 with no cilantro. YUUUUM!

Craving for a vietnamese sando. The reviews were good, therefore I gave it a try. It was okay. I got the combination and it was lacking flavor. There was not enough mayo and pâté. Sandwich was a little dry for my taste. Maybe because I compare everything to Saigon Sandwiches in the TL. I really wanted to like this place but it just didn’t satisfy my cravings.

Finally got to check out this place & it is good & cheap! Where else can u get lunch at less than or about $ 5.00. My favorite — the grilled pork … So tasty … All the others r good too! What surprise me is that for less than $ 5.00, they put more meat than most of the other bahn mi places in fidi that sells theirs for $ 10plus. Definitely worth the walk up to Kearny street! Lady isn’t too friendly but who cares, sandwiches r great & it’s made as u order !

Solid bahn mi, not as cheap as Saigon, but taste just as good as them. Good choice in this neighborhood for Vietnamese sandwich. Quick service too.

I’m pretty sure we all know what a wallet hangover is. Scientifically speaking, a wallet hangover occurs when your bank account dehydrates itself to process out the toxic«rounds of Jameson» from your credit card statement. It often leaves a lingering migraine for your budget and in more serious circumstances, you may even regurgitate your savings. Don’t let those Saturday night mistakes ruin you. You can slowly rebuild your strength at Latte Express. $ 5 for a Vietnamese Sandwich at the financial district. It’s half the price of the average lunch you find in the area. That’s saving $ 5 a day, and it will slowly replenish the essential electrolytes that are so needed by your bank account. And the sandwich is decent. The bread has a slight crunch and it is packed with a reasonable amount of protein inside. The jalapeño is hotter than the bae you bought a Jameson for last Saturday, but the crust of the bread is not nearly as flaky. But let’s not be sour like the perfect amount of pickles in the sandwich, you’re the winner today with your $ 5 sandwich afterall. So come to Latte Express and cure your wallet hangover. You’ll finally be able to tell your creditors aka your co-workers that you can venmo them back the following week. You may even be able to call your spouse and tell ‘em that date night is still a possibility(maybe at Latte Express tho). And if you’re committed enough, you may even be able to tell your children that they can go to college one day. It all starts with saving some bucks at Latte Express.

Love it! And open at 5:30am — very helpful for us east coast business travelers who awaken at 4am!

I simply love banh mi, and was delighted that there was a banh mi café right around the corner of where I was staying in San Francisco. I made a beeline to this place as soon as they opened on the day following my flight into the city in order to satisfy my banh mi craving. I ordered the banh mi thit nuong(grilled pork sandwich). It wasn’t the most flavorful thit nuong that I’ve ever had, but it encompassed all of the elements of a good banh mi sandwich to satisfy my banh mi craving(eg. meat, pickled veggies, cilantro). With tax, each banh mi came out to be over $ 5, which is pretty pricey but understandable given that the café was located in San Francisco. I definitely recommend stopping by if you have a banh mi craving, or are in the area and would like an affordable, on-the-go meal. I wouldn’t recommend coming out of your way to try this place, however, especially if there are other banh mi places near you.

We stumbled across this Banh mi place while leaving Chinatown. The place isn’t owned by Vietnamese people but the sandwiches were fantastic! The best I’ve ever tasted and I’m from OC so that’s saying a lot. We ended eating 3 of our meals here and we only stayed 2 days in SF. The number #9 with iced coffee is our favorite

#9 Grilled Pork Banh Mi w/Vietnamese coffee combo!!! The last maybe 5 or 6 times I’ve ordered #9, it never fails!!! Sandwich is ALWAYS good, even without the onions and jalapenos, coffee is DELICIOUS!!! Maybe one of these days I’ll try something else in the menu… hmmmmmmmmmmm yeah no! LOL!!! =)

My go-to place whenever I’m craving a banh mi sandwich and I’m around Chinatown. For about $ 5, you get a fresh baguette with a decent amount of fillings. Of the different banh mi’s here, I would definitely recommend the pork.

Best Vietnamese sandwich in town. Bread was crunchy and warm. Grilled pork was delicious and jalapeños were super spicy. Great sandwich.

Best vietnamese iced coffee in SF. I’ve tried various spots, and they all cannot compare. That is all I have tried here, and that is what I will return here for every time. Best $ 3.50 spent. Very courteous staff also.

One of the blandest bahn mi’s I’ve had — bbq pork had no flavor and some pieces were chewy/gristly. Cheap yes — $ 8.21 for a sandwich and thai iced tea combo — but you get what you pay for. Thai iced tea was ok — a bit strong on the tea but ok. Bahn mi — disappointing — even the pickled daikon lacked flavor. I asked for sriracha and got take out hot sauce packets…

$ 5 sandwich but not at all filling :(((((le tears. Wish there was more decent banh mi places near the FIDI. Sandwich is skimpy on filling, but the bread is fresh & they do spread the pâté evenly though, so that’s a plus. It’s okay if you’re craving it but it’s not satisfying enough for me. Service is fast and friendly. $ 5 minimum for CC. Would probably just come back for Viet coffee.

Hole in the wall place with great banh-mi(Vietnamese sandwiches). The name of the place«Latte Express» is a little misleading. I’ve sat here in the café eating my lunch over a period of fifteen or twenty minutes and not a soul has come in to order coffee of any kind. Maybe it’s just a morning thing. But the line has been out the door to order these delicious, fresh banh-mi sandwiches. In case you’re not familiar with banh-mi, they’re not too exotic: a fresh, crunchy torpedo-shaped bun filled with grilled meat and veggies. Cilantro is always included. I’m just taking off a star because the place is a messy jumble of signs and racks and trays. The joint could be straightened up a bit.

Pretty dry but cheap Vietnamese sandwiches. * #5CHICKENBAHNMI($ 5) — 3STARS The chicken banh mi is coated in a bright red Chinese bbq marinade and looks a lot like cha siu. It’s a step above morning brew and slightly cheaper too. * SPRINGROLLS — 3.5STARS Probably the only thing I would come back for. Cash and visa accepted.

After my IELTS testing, I was hungry and saw this spot. Decided to check it out since it has been a grip since I have had a vietnamese sandwich and coffee. I got the #9 — bbq pork with viet coffee. Small place, at the time I went, it was not busy. The lady upfront appears to be the only one working. She was fast. The sandwich was well portioned and hot the coffee was cold and good. Price was great for about $ 8.

this place is pretty good, compared to the other bahn mi places i have been in the city. The bread is crunchy on the outside, but soft enough throughout that it doesnt cut up the roof of my mouth. the grilled pork and #7 combo are great. I think the balance of meat to bread to pickles veggies is on point. I will be coming back for lunch again real soon.

Not bad. I went to try this place out for lunch one day because a friend recommended it and it was pretty near our office. It’s a nice place and insanely efficient. I got the number 1 which is just ham and pâté and they literally finished wrapping my sandwich in less than a minute, it was insane. Prices here are great – you’re never going to find prices this cheap anywhere else – it’s only $ 4.50/sandwich. My sandwich was decent… but not amazing. I love the Lee’s Sandwiches chain(not to be confused with Lee’s Deli which is much more popular in this area) because their sandwich is just so freaking flavorful. This sandwich was good and filling, but definitely on the blander side. Given how cheap it is, I’m not complaining. They also sell some larger combos with Vietnamese iced cofffee + other snacks and chips. tldr; great quick spot to grab a bite

Ugh, what a waste of a lunch. First of all, the tofu bahn mi was more expensive than any of the meat ones. I figured it would at least have to be good, but it was super dry and chewy. Their portions are also tiny, I had 1.5 sandwiches(split one w/a friend) and wasn’t even full. Sure, their prices may be low — but you pay in terms of satisfaction! Not coming back.
