I saw a performance at the YBCA a few months ago and I was a bit disappointed. Although I’m primarily a fan of Neoclassical Ballet (which the SF Ballet does so well), I also enjoy Smuin very much, so it’s not the lightness that bothered me; it just seemed a little off. Even though it wasn’t to my taste, the dancers et al deserve a lot of respect for doing what they do, hence the four star rating.
