Sushi was absolutely disgusting. Tasteless fish on rainbow roll. I didn’t even try all of it. Salmon usually has a creamy texture– theirs wasn’t even close, couldn’t even tell if it was fresh. I even took the roll apart and tried to taste each ingredient individually so I could figure out what was giving it such a bad flavor and I couldn’t-both rice and fish was horrible. Also tempura shrimp was soggy and cold. Both of the rolls: Hawaiian and rainbow were equally bad. Even miso soup was way below my expectations– way too salty. I make miso at home much much better. Leaving bad review because I feel robbed. $ 35 for 2 rolls, edamame and soup.

Love this place. Parking can be a little tough but we always eventually fine a spot. The rolls are great. A little pricey tho. Our favorites are the crunch roll and Yami Yami roll. This place is very consistent. Every visit is worth it!

Overall the experience was good, however a few things were disappointing. Initial service was good, and we were seated immediately. However, it seemed like it took a moment for us to get the order in. We orders the tempura and hamachi Kama. I loved the tempura, however the hamachi Kama portion seemed meager compared to most other restaurants in the same price point. Tempura though was hot, fresh and crunchy. Caution with the hit sake. I’m not sure how they heat it, but it almost seemed as they did so in a microwave as it was piping hot. Overall service was pleasant, though seemed a tad slow but they got the job done. It’s a nice restaurant and I’d go back, they next time I’m craving some tempura. Maybe next time I’ll try more of the sushi. We also did order a roll and it was good too. As for prices, it’s average too for he area.

Everything about this restaurant is great! Service, food, environment… I’m very satisfied that I even have words enough to describe it. Just check it out.

Disappointing. Might have just been a bad night for them, given the better reviews, but the beef was frozen and thawed to a luke-warm state, each sushi roll was weirdly hard at the edges, like it had been there a while, and though, yes, there was a lot of food, none of it tasted fresh. Nice people there, totally empty on a Tuesday night, and I’m not going back to find out more.

2nd favorite sushi spot in all of SF. Their soft shelled crab appetizer is sooo good. It’s super difficult to find any Japanese places that actually offer an entire soft shelled crap, however Little Tokyo does not disappoint Awesome selection of clean(not fried) rolls that are simple and super fresh. Unique décor, it’s kinda cheesy but feels homey. Super great service, everyone is genuinely nice.

I will give you 5 stars as soon as you fix one issue — the smell of the dishwashing soap that stays on the plates and food. The food is good, the place is cozy and nice but when I put food in my mouth, I tasted the dishwashing soap. I smelled the plate itself and yes, that was the problem. Please change whatever brand you use or perhaps rinse dishes twice. Otherwise I am not coming back or recommending the place.

We were actually looking to eat lunch at a Korean restaurant but the one we wanted to go to was not open(bummer). So we went on a hunt for Japanese food. Kitaro is always a personal stand by but I’m not crazy about the cramped space. So we enter Little Tokyo. The restaurant wasn’t really full. There were maybe 3 tables beside us. Service is on the slow side. We had to wait a long time for things. I ordered the chicken katsu/tempura bento and a side of korokke. Korokke was good but on the thin side. Katsu and tempura were fried to perfection. This is a good option for Japanese in SF!

the food tasted great but the waiting part is suck. No tea, no chopstick, no spoon for the soup. The wait was more than 30 min. Service was suck too. I will come back next time if there is noone in the restaurant.

A little expensive for my taste but still pretty good. It wasn’t busy so our service was good. We ordered an appetizer, lion king, dragon roll, sexy sexy roll and beef don. It was very yummy and the food came out in a timely fashion. The bill came out to be $ 81. Overall I’m satisfied.

This has quickly become my go to sushi location! It is so delicious fast and affordable I can’t stop thinking about it! The rolls are tasty and unique, the fish is fresh and perfectly prepared, and it’s open until after ten(if I remember correctly) the staff is super friendly also! Can’t wait to go back Try the yami yami and the sushi boy & girl rolls!

Just drove by here and remembered that I never wrote a review… The sushi chef served my girlfriend a bad scallop and she was sick for a week. She couldn’t keep any food down and would curl up into a ball from the cramps and aches. Yeah, this happened a long time ago but my girlfriend remembers like it was yesterday. Don’t eat there, I wouldn’t take the chance. This place is fu@ked up

3.5 stars. Quality of sushi was very good, I think I am just turned off by the price. I got the Sushi Boy, which is spicy crab, avocado, fish roe, and salmon. Total for my one roll lunch= $ 13.16. They didn’t ask me if I wanted a bag, just charged me, 15 cents. I thought SF bags are 10cents, hmm.

Came here on a weeknight with a friend who lives nearby. While this is certainly not a sushi location that attracts hordes of diners with 2 hour waits, this restaurant was pretty clean and not loud. The menu favors trendy rolls over traditional Japanese dishes. The menus was filled with a lot of choices, fairly extensive compared to a lot of other Japanese restaurants, and you really can’t go wrong with anything that you order.

Beautiful atmosphere. Was completely empty when we went in on a Sunday evening. I got a bento box with teriyaki beef and chicken and it was fantastic! The salad has a great Asian mayonnaise dressing which I love. They have mochi for dessert, but at $ 4.50 for 2 pieces I can’t condone it.

One of my favorite places to get my lunch bento box. The chicken/beef is never overcooked compared to some neighboring Japanese spots. Reasonable price with a two item bento costing $ 9.50. The owners/staff are very nice and provided excellent service.

Came here for dinner last night after debating whether to come here or the place next door. Both had mediocre reviews. We decided to go here because the Unilocal pics looked better. If you go here, you should know the service is awful. It was 10 minutes before a waiter came to take our order. Once he took our order it took another 20 minutes for our appetizer to come out. If we needed anything in between, like a glass of water, it was an effort to track down a waiter. I think they had two waiters and it was a relatively busy Saturday night. The sushi was pretty good. We had the dragon roll and the Tom&Jerry roll. We also had the chicken katchitori, which was really good. The sushi tasted fresh and I enjoyed it, but this restaurant needs to improve their service and hospitality. Not sure I’ll ever come back because of that.

I tried a Donburi Dinner Katsu Don [pork & egg] and it was a disappointment, it tasted like old left overs from the fridge that were simply reheated in a microwave, very soggy and not very fresh tasting with some cold pickled vegetables on top to dress it up. I could tell they just popped it in a microwave and reheated it because the entire bowl was piping hot and the egg was way over cooked, the meat was like mush. I was hoping they would have served a fresh made Donburi bowl instead.

The Gyoza were tiny, deep fried, but pretty good nonetheless. While the Hamachi Sushi was really good, I wasn’t a fan of the Crab sushi as the crab meat was too dry and fibrous. I had a bento box as my main meal; the spicy chicken and the mackerel were good, but the chicken katsu was pedestrian(but then again what can you expect from a breaded fried chicken?). However I really liked the texture of the steamed rice. Note to self: stop eating Bento Box meals; one can’t expect anything great or fabulous out of a bento box. Next time, it will be only Don Buris and Udons, besides Sushi and Sashimis. I regret not ordering more sushi; I need to come back for more sushi.
